1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2024

The vehicle has been making this electrical noise inside the vehicle. The vehicle upon accelerating, would hesitate to go then jerk. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic technician. It was suggested that the vehicle tcm be replaced. It was replaced and the jerking still exist. The vehicle out of nowhere started having these unexpected electrical issues. This caused the cooling system fan to not work. I ordered a new cooling system fan and had it replaced/installed. However, these issues along with other safety concerning issues have continued to occur. This vehicle can cause significant serious injury or injuries to the owner or others. The vehicle would lock up occasionally. This model Jeep (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland 5. 7l) has some safety concerns. I need help! please! my car is under the x78 extended ecodiesel warranty. The government (epa) sued fca back in 2019 for making these cars with over 14 illegal deletes, like Volkswagen. Instead of making them buy the cars back, they let them say they would make all repairs related to this huge list of components. I’ve had nothing but problems the past almost 2 years. My Jeep was at one dealership a full year. Now it’s at another dealership in ennis texas for about 59 days now. . My Jeep went into limp in mode in front of an 18- wheeler on interstate 45, I was almost killed. I was so afraid! I sent a letter requesting they contact the manufacturer as they have said so on the paperwork. I’ve gone to get my car 4 tiles and it’s still not repaired. I get a text message on Saturday telling me my Jeep is fixed and ready? I’m not getting into that vehicle again, my daughter is having nightmares, she’s asked me please don’t drive that car again! I’ve attempted to pick this car up 4 times, it’s not fixed! same code from 10/04 initial drop off. The same codes came back on 11/9 after they said they’ve replaced the pcm and mass air flow sensor and other parts?.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2023

My jgc 2014. I was on a 5 lane interstate in the far left lane when my car started decelerating at a speed of 64mph. As I was merging into the left emergency lane it switched into neutral gear. I then proceeded to stop and put the Jeep into park and turn it off. Prior to this incident my check engine light had just illuminated a month prior and I ran a diagnostic computer test and it returned stating it was an evap problem. I haven’t had any systems. So I was waiting on my first check to get it taking care of (meaning no gas smell in the cabin, no fuel leaks under vehicle, no bad gas mileage). So the police came to my rescue and helped me pull the emergency neutral pull in the middle console in order to get it off closer to the median so I wouldn’t get hit until I could get a tow. Well it wouldn’t turn over again. It sounded like I had a fuel pump problem but when I went to turn it on but not over I heard my fuel pump cut on. So no problems there! so my battery started running low in voltage so I charged it with a battery pack and it got around 13 v and I unplugged it . It’s a 14 v battery. Well I got my vehicle turned in the off position the emergency neutral gear unlocked and then my windshield wipers started and the car was not on . I heard clicking in the fuse part under the hood so I found that fuse and pulled it. I think took a fuse checker and checked every fuse in my box they all had fire. On my dash it started saying system brake suspension and the check engine light was off. So I checked it with the computer diagnostic tester and it said a code of all u’s which were the ecu and the tcm and the gear shifter which was the only p. O. Code. So we took my gear shift off and cleaned it and hooked it back up. It was nasty. And it would slap again but not show on my dashboard. So I reset my battery and nothing. I am so upset about this. I’ve worked on every vehicle I’ve owned and this is mind boggling. Everything is up to date and seems fine.

4 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2023

Vehicle shifts into neutral when driving down the road and then dies. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it does it everyday, sometimes it doesn't do it for 6 days. Seems to happen within 3 to 7 miles of driving the vehicle. Took to Jeep dealer to see if they could figure it out. Over a month later and $1000. 00 Jeep dealer replaced the pcm pin (?) and checked wiring. Picked up the Jeep and 6 days later on way home from work it shifts into neutral going 58 mph down the road and stalls. 30 mins before it would start back up and allow me to drive it. Never any check engine light on, never and noises or chugging, the vehicle does this with no warning and after 5 to 30 minutes will start back up like nothing happened.

5 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2022

I noticed things like the cluster going completely black at random and it would last for seconds before re-illuminating; it happens while driving. I took in my vehicle to the dealership on June 28, 2022, two days prior, I noticed that my doors were unlocking while I was inside my workplace, the alarm was going off another day and I noticed shifting issues with the transmission. On June 27, 2022 I was forced to buy a brand new battery because the Jeep was running in power saving mode, instead of taking a risk with a low battery, I bought a new one and thought everything was good, but it continued to run in power saving mode; I received two cel codes, both correlating to the transmission control module (tcm). Later that evening my son informed me that the cluster light was still on, the Jeep had been parked for several hours so there was no reason for the light to still be on (wake mode?). Also, I notated the codes I received before I had to have the Jeep towed to the dealership on Jun 28th to compare to what the service dept came up with; however on Jun 28th I attempted to jump the battery to take it to the service center but it wouldn’t jump or charge; what happened was, just before the cluster went haywire, the wipers were moving across the windshield while it was in an off position, the uconnect was glitching out then went black, cluster warned to service the electronic abs and the shifter, the fuse box was vibrating and shuddering very loudly, a hissing noise was coming from the back of the vehicle (could be the fuel pump? like compressed air) so by Monday morning, the 27th the battery had completely died and by the time it got to the dealership on tues, I had to use the battery warranty to replace the battery so that the service department could then diagnose the Jeep. Fine, the battery was replaced Jun 30th with a brand new one, but by fri Jun 8th I was told I need another brand new battery. All the issues had had a prior recall and seem to be reoccurring.

12 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2013

Bought new in April 2013. Since then, Jeep has been in dealers service dept for many electrical problems, transmission problems, down loads to control modules and front and rear bumpers just falling off. Radio was replaced, wiring harness replaced, many control modulars replaced, generator and battery replaced and the dealer even added an extra negative wire to the Jeep to stop the exterior and interior lights from just turning off and on, altering the Jeeps design. My Jeep then began turning on and off certain controls, like the wipers would just come on and off, the radio would go up and down in sound then the whole screen would go black, turning off on its own, dealer had to replace the entire radio system. Recent repairs were the transmission, which have been an ongoing problem within month of purchase. The Jeep would not go higher the 2nd gear. Dealer had to remove certain codes, replace with new codes and reprogram the tcm control module. This has been done many times. Just last month, the front and rear bumpers just began to fall apart. Dealer had to send Jeep to a body shop for repairs. The Jeep is in mint condition and aways has. It's service record is proof of proper mainteance on schedule. On one occasion after the dealer attemptedto finx the lights from going out and had the Jeep for sevral weeks, the dealer told me they go the lights to at least not go out but it still has a slight flicker. When I told the dealership that's not fixed right, the dealer told me that they considered the repairs commercially acceptable. It's been almost a year since I hired an attorney to address this under the lemon law but Chrysler continues to drag this issue out without addressing the safety issues my family continues to endure on a daily basis . Asking the attorney to become more involved, I was told they have to do what the law allows.
