Radio screen delaminating and causing ghost touching. Dials unwanted phone calls. Turns the ac on when its negative outside and vice versa during the summer it was turning the heat on. Very distracting and hazardous. I have children in the vehicle and it has been a hazard multiple times.
Screen looks delaminated dials random numbers. Uconnedt no longer works nor does the radio makes for an unpleasant ride if I can go back I would’ve just gotten a Toyota Jeep always has problems I’m not the only with this issue and yet they don’t do a recall on this ridiculous.
Misfiring. Can't seem to get the check engine light off. Vehicle is too new to be having these sorts of issues. Diagnostic reader says 3rd cylinder misfire.
The alternator is pulling from the battery draining it and at 9. 5 volts the car will go into safety mode where it doesn’t turn off but it won’t drive neither which actually happened to me on Saturday in the middle of the street luckily no car hit mines and the police helped me move it out the road. I complained to carmax kearny mesa the previous Friday and instead of them putting me in a loaner car and towing the vehicle they scheduled me for an appointment Monday (today) at 9:30am and never held up their end and I’ve been carless ever since and they had my car for 6 months fixing this same problem I’m having today .
All-wheel drive is no longer working due to messages stating "service anti-lock brake system," "service air suspension immediately," and check engine light. All lights and cautionary messages came on at the exact same moment while coming out of park over a year ago. I have had the vehicle repaired twice, and the dealership says, "it is a wiring issue," but within a month after being repaired each time, the messages and issues begin happening again.
Touch screen went black a year ago , cannot use back-up cam or change the settings for my car temperature settings. Warranty has expired and Jeep refuses to fix, quoting $1,700 although it’s a known issue for this year vehicle. Prior to screen going black it would ghost button change the stations, there were lines in the radio screen and it would randomly shut off and on when driving.
While driving, all the light on the dashboard come on. When this happens the speedometer is not working the windshield wipers come on. The emergency brake light is on, the car shifts out of gear and the turning signals don't work and the hazard lights won't work. This is all happening at the same time. I'm unable to inform people on the road that I'm in distress because my hazard light won't work I don't know how fast or slow I'm going. I can't inform the people on the road that I want to change lanes. Then after a while all the lights on the dashboard would go out and the check engine light would remain on for maybe two days and than go out. This problem has been going on since January I have paid thousands of dollars attempting to get this problem fixed. My car has been back and forth to the same Chrysler central Ave dealership where I purchased my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee to which I'm still paying for.
My uconnect radio has been malfunctioning for a few months now. I've seen this on Jeep forums being a major issue with 2018 Jeeps. My radio stations would randomly change while driving. The volume know would stop working, my navigation stopped working and would place my location in a completely different state. Last week, while driving my uconnect would randomly turn on the ac and then switch to heat and then turn it off, and then switch between modules. The Sunday after thanksgiving, I was driving my parents to the airport using the gps on my phone but connecting it to apple car play so that I could still see the navigation on the uconnect screen. While driving and coming up to multiple lanes in which their were different highways to take, my uconnect starts going haywire. It was completely nervewracking and was super distracting. My parents were in the car and were very frightened as I wasn't sure which lane I was supposed to be in and where to go. I had to grab my phone, unlcock it and look at my phone. Very dangerous! then the other night as I was driving on the highway, I had my front and rear defroster on as the weather called for this and all of sudden, the defroster shuts off and the ac (max ac) comes on at full blast. My front windshield fogged up super quickly. I turned on my wipers and literally starting moving lanes to the right lane as I was frantically pushing the controls to get it back to defrost. I could have died by going off the road as I could not see where I was going or if there were any cars! thankfully, I rolled down the windows, slowed down and found the breakdown line by hearing the safety strip under my tires. I put on my hazards and prayed. I know I need a new uconnect, but all the dealers want to charge me $170 or more just to diagnose the vehicle. I don't want it diagnosed. . I want it fixed. And this should not be my responsibility to fix something that is a huge safety concern. Please contact me ASAP.
I was just driving down the freeway and out of nowhere. My Jeep started calling and hanging up and recalling everybody in my frequently called list. I tried turning off the screen, but it turned itself back on and started doing it again. Everybody who I just called over and over unintentionally. We’re trying to call me back, but it would hang up on them. It was as if a ghost was in my screen. I have not had this looked at by the dealership, but upon researching the issue it appears this is a common problem in the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My hands are still shaking from the incident as it was extremely unsafe and distracting. It all startled me so bad I almost drove off the road. It would’ve been one thing if I could’ve just turned it off, but the fact that I kept turning itself back on, is very disconcerting. I tried turning white screen. It was on to the radio, and then it kept changing stations on its own rapidly and repeatedly.
There is a known screen delamination issue with the screens on this vehicle. It is a major safety issue since it will be randomly turning on and off devices as you are trying to drive the vehicle. This is a major distraction and there is no way to turn off the system.
2018 Grand Cherokee. . . . As you are aware of this already, the radio screen started delaminating and now the crystals are leaking out of he bottom of the screen. This in turn causes all the systems to go off and on at random, that can be controlled by the screen. All safety functions are now disabled due to this problem. Several attempts were made to contact the dealership and Jeep customer care, only to be told that here is nothing they can do and to buy a new one. They also said there was no guarantee that the new radio wouldn't do the same thing. This is a top of the line high altitude Grand Cherokee that now doesn't have any of the safety features and comforts that I paid top dollar for. Jeep should honor their quality control issues but have been blowing everyone off. I have been on many forums and they are having the same issue. I got your website from one of the forums and can't believe that is has been a long time since they posted and you couldn't do anything about it so far. Thanks for listening, don thompson 717-945-9933.
All three brake lights stayed illuminated during car operation regardless of brake pedal pressed. I was able to shift and start my car without pressing the brake putting my family and other pedestrians at risk of being run over if the car shifted out of park unexpectedly. Also no warning lights were on at all, so I drove on the road with my brake lights illuminated increasing risk for injury or death in a crash. It turns out the part is a hydraulic control unit. It was reading 120psi when the pedal wasn’t even pressed. This was replaced by an independent shop and fixed the issue. I found out that there was a recall done on 2011-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokees. This recall was “equipment safety recall 21a NHTSA 23e-019”. This recall calls out this exact problem for our exact model and the exact part replaced. My vehicle did not qualify for this recall for some reason which does not make sense because of the following information. The julian date range for the failed part is 8166-9106. The part pulled out of my vehicle has a julian date of 8228. I am more than willing to provide photos and any documentation showing this repairs high cost and that it was done. There needs to be another recall with these cars to include mine and many others as this issue could cause death of unsuspecting people around the vehicle. It’s ridiculous that my vehicle did not qualify for this recall when I have an obviously failed part that fca knows about but refuses to fix or reimburse me for. Please investigate this and enact a recall to fix a problem that was bad enough to be recalled once for another batch of cars. There are other cars out there that could cause death or serious injury.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 75 mph, the vehicle lost motive power. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 18v524000 (electrical system); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee . The contact stated that while parked the vehicle would not start . The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the tipm and pcm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 119,229.
The monitor/screen is delaminating. This is causing the screen to go haywire. It asks me if I want to adjust my clock setting every couple seconds which makes using the screen for anything else impossible; at times I can't adjust my heat, use the navigation system, etc. This is a known issue per numerous Jeep forums I've visited where hundreds of people are having the same issue with a defective screen on the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees, but Jeep still hasn't done a recall.
The screen on the uconnect system in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee recently started delaminating. More recently, it has started to randomly change radio stations or make other "phantom" changes while I'm driving without me touching anything. This is clearly a safety issue as it is very distracting while I'm driving. After extensive research online it appears that this is a very common issue with vehicles like mine and Jeep hasn't done anything to help owners get this issue fixed. I keep my car in great shape so there hasn't been any user damage.
Infortament system delamination and ghost touching of the navigation screen could distract drivers which directly related to driving safety.
This vehicle will not move (intermitant problem) at times when the vehicle is placed in drive or reverse. The gear shift console and dash will flash and the vehicle is rendred useless. I have to turn off and restart the vehicle to resolve the problem. Temporary fix. It keeps happening. This vehicle has been in the shop 3 times (dealing with this issue for over a year). Noone knows what the problem is. No codes are thrown. Jeep has been contacted. Several forums I have looked at online state this problem with no resolution. The problem is someone is going to be killed or seriously injured. When it leaves me stranded in an intersection, which it did, I have a major problem. A resolution has to be found. Its not allowing me to upload video. I do have video of this happening which has been shown to the dealership and the adjuster of my extended warrenty company.
The control center of the vehicle (radio) comes on and makes calls and also turns on equipment in the vehicle that distracts the driver from driving. If you power it off it will come back on. It controls your phone and navigation and all climate controls in vehicle. Jeep is aware of the problem but will not do anything to fix it. We tell people not to text and drive and this vechicle does it without you knowing which causes eyes to go off the road. We have already experienced a close call with the distracting of a driver.
Extremely unsafe condition. The lamination on the monitor is peeling/cracking and obscuring the information shown on the electronic read out. For functions such as gps, this is very dangerous. I spend more valuable seconds trying to read the monitor (eyes off the road) in trying to understand and read the data. Luckily, I haven't had any incidents, but I would guess there have been multiple accidents caused by this very fixable condition in most Jeep's of this vintage. I implore you to initiate a recall ASAP.
Auto start/stop turns car off completely, requiring putting the car in park and manually restarting the car. Causing a possible rear end collision at traffic light.
The radio screen is DE-laminating, causing the radio to go haywire with constant ghost-touching. The radio screen controls most of the car, so besides the non-stop beeping being very distracting, it is giving dangerous commands to my car. It makes unwanted phone calls, including to sos. It turns on the backup camera when I am on the interstate. It continues to beep when I am in reverse so I cannot hear the beeps from the collision warning system. It turns on the seat warmers when it's already >100 degrees outside. It does not allow me to see the suspension settings and data when I am in 4wd. It turns on navigation I do not want and does not allow me to use navigation maps that I need. It turn the radio on full blast while continuously changing stations. I cannot turn off the radio screen and the perpetual chaos it causes because a single ghost touch immediately turns it back on. It is ghost touched approximately every 1-2 seconds. It is very distracting, chaotic, and hazardous to drive with this happening. I paid a Jeep dealer for a diagnostic test that confirmed the issue is caused by DE-lamination. Both Jeep and the dealer refused to replace cover the costs of repair. There were no warnings before the radio screen began DE-laminating and the ghost touching started in December 2022. It is has slowly gotten worse each month since then.
Uconnect - touchscreen digitizer is delaminating from screen. Causes phantom touches on the screen, including random calls and changing directions. Rear backup camera is also inaccessible. Very distracting and potentially dangerous.
The uconnect system has started to delaminate, causing a "ghost touch" action where various settings are being changed while driving. This includes constantly making noises as the screen is s being activated, redirecting the navigation system while driving, turning on radio randomly, changing driver and passenger seat settings, turning off defogging/defroster, making phone calls, including 411 or emergency help services, all of this while driving without any external input. It is very distracting and dangerous.
My touchscreen is delaminating. I can't use the radio, the navigation system or interior climate control system. If the radio is turned on, it jumps from station to station, the phone system has called 911 several times, and dials random numbers from my contact list. This is a safety hazard because of the random dialing and distraction it causes. This condition is only happening on this model year. The product is defective and dangerous. I have owned 5 Jeeps in a row and never had this problem with the radio or touch screen.
The information center/dashboard radio is malfunctioning in that it switches between stations, apps, randomly calls people, the backup camera no longer shows consistently, or sometimes does not turn on at all. When using maps, it causes a danger as it does not show turns and is constantly changing screens. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This is distracting and makes hands free calling impossible due to the fact that it will hang up, put on hold, or call 911. This is a known problem for 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. There were no warning signs and the issues started happening out of nowhere. This malfunction poses a big safety threat due to the distractions, and misdirection the system is now causing.
2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee radio screen delamination, causing heating/defrost/seats/clock reset/radio channels cycling quickly, lack of navigation on screen. Very distracting when traveling/trying to reach the hospitals. At first it was very distracting while traveling, and didn't allow me to use any features/controls, and could've easily took my eyes off the road and have an accident. I can't use the radio when I need to, for certain situations, not just entertainment but location as I travel with work at times, and my wife and I both frequent hospitals with my heart issues and her lower gi issues. It just started appearing late in July 2023 and you can see something under the radio screen as if its a sticker/protective cover on the radio and it looks like its separating from the inside. I have it going into the shop for diagnosis 11/29/2023 but it is continually getting worse to where I can't use the radio/nav/comfort features at all and need to for our safety/travel, and winter is rapidly approaching.
Infotainment center has bubble in screen that causes "ghost presses" on screen. Will change screens and turn on seat heaters and other car functions during driving.
The stereo system screen began delaminating approximately 1 year ago. The delamination causes the stereo to malfunction, make sounds, and cause a major distraction when driving. It has come to my knowledge that this is a very frequent issue in the 2018 Grand Cherokees. There were no warning messages, the screen just glitches and completely malfunctions which is making it dangerous to drive and manage simultaneously.
The computer screen (radio, climate control, back up camera, etc. ) the screen has a mind of its own. It will go on and off by itself all the time. It changes the radio stations and climate control by itself. The back up camera will be on and then as we are baking up it goes out, or won't work at all. Its very dangerous and distracting for the driver. In contacting Jeep, they will not cover the cost to repair or replace. We even purchased an extended certified added care warranty when we purchased the Jeep and they won't cover it either.
The uconnected display screen mal-functions to the point of being a dangerous distraction. Phantom jumping between radio stations, switching from ac to heat etc, changes other controls and will not allow use of touch systems. The screen shows obvious signs of DE-lamination. I noted that many others are have the same issue with their uconnect displays. Super dangerous. Dealer' csr said "sorry, not their problem. Said it must've gotten wet". Since then I have learned this is a common problem with all Jeeps of this era. Mine is a 2018. Is there anything NHTSA is doing to recall these? it's dangerous and we have stopped driving unless absolutely necessary.
I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the screen is delaminating and now my screen is completely black. I cannot do anything on my screen which controls everything in my car. I'm unable to have my heat or air come out of anything except defrost. I had the heat on to defrost my windshield, and it kept switching to a cold setting causing my windows to not defrost. My car will randomly call people from my contacts list or if I'm on a call will place it on hold or mute. When a feature is supposed to help with distracted driving this is doing anything but that and causes all drives to be very distracting. The temperature of my vehicle is constantly switching because of the screen issues. Before my screen went completely black if I was using gps it would randomly switch my location sometimes to a different continent again causing for a very distracting and unsafe drive because I didn't know where I was going and had to fumble around to find my phone so I could get my maps and not make a wrong turn. I'm thankful a serious accident hasn't occurred yet because of this distraction but if it does Jeep will be taking responsibility. I have called a Jeep dealership and states Jeep is saying sorry about you, absolutely unacceptable. There is no warning when this happens it starts out as slow minor things happening and is now extremely unsafe to drive because of the distractions it causes. Not to mention no back up camera for that extra step of safety.
Ecm/pcm.
Uconnect screen delamination - cannot adjust vehicle controls since most are managed through uconnect screen. Dangerous situation. Appears Jeep fca has an issue with 2018 uconnect screen delamination due to bad adhesive making the screen non functional - Jeep is not responsive.
My radio touchscreen will do things on its own, it will adjust my heating and cooling, my setting, flip from radio, bluetooth, usb. Call people and just like freak out. And I have no control over it and it wont stop. I have only had my car since February and it also only has 50,000 miles on it.
