1 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/13/2021

After wide open throttle acceleration, vehicle continues to accelerate even after letting off of throttle. Had to immediately depress brake to its maximum capacity to slow/stall the unintended rapid acceleration. It has duplicated this behavior twice in the last 100 miles. The Jeep also indicates an error message regarding electronic throttle control error. Once again uncontrolled rapid acceleration after wot!.

2 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/04/2020

I started my Jeep, noticed my hatch was not closed, got out while it was running, the second I closed my driver door, my Jeep went into reverse on its own, and kept accelerating higher, this vehicle took off very aggressively, luckily my wife was in the passenger seat, she put it in natural, and shut the car off before anything was struck, now due to I believe the rapid acceleration it runs horribly when I put it in drive. This Jeep is an 2003 , well broke in and maintained, there's no other reason as to why it "became self aware" I have a lot of vehicle knowledge and this is virtually and unfathomably impossible , please review every aspect of this vehicles complaints as this is very unsafe.

3 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/09/2020

Two recent events, when braking in slow traffic there was sudden acceleration with foot on brake. Even with stronger and forceful brake pressure the Jeep was still moving and wanting to keep going with engine revving. Had to shift into neutral and then engine quit revving and things returned to normal. I have this Jeep 10 years and am very familiar with it. Never any wrecks. No medical problems. The floor mat was not interfering with any pedals. The dealership was not aware of any recalls about this problem but they serviced the throttle-body after the first incident. This apparently was not the problem as the unintended acceleration when braking occurred a second time. In googling this problem a blog mentioned this could be the Jeep brake-booster which has been recalled and was replaced on my Jeep 2 years ago. Google brings up this sudden acceleration as a common search but no clear answers. I know about the Toyota acceleration problem in the 1990's, that they never found or admitted anything mechanical and assumed it was granny using two feet. This is absolutely a mechanical problem with my 2011 Jeep. Will take to dealership but they already said they aren't aware of this being a Jeep defect. I registered this complaint with Jeep customer care and they said if the dealership can't find the problem to call them back and they will work with the dealership to resolve this. They worrisome thing is they will do something for $1000 and then I have this brake/acceleration occur a 3rd time and it causes a crash!.

With my foot completely off the accelerator, the vehicle spontaneously accelerates under certain conditions. While in standard or sport mode, in second gear going about 20mph, there is a reproducible rpm surge that causes the vehicle to lunge forward. This somewhat feels like being rear ended.

6 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/04/2019

I was slowly backing into a driveway when the Jeep Grand Cherokee suddenly accelerated on its own. I repeatedly hit the brake pedal but the Jeep wouldn't stop; instead it kept going faster. It smashed into the garage door and the brick wall of the garage, demolishing them. The Jeep was brand new with only 500 miles driven, and it was equipped with a complete safety package that should have automatically stopped it before an impending impact but it did not do so. This was an extremely terrifying experience and it felt like a nightmare.

7 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/25/2019

After driving over a curb in a busy retail store parking lot, my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee went into full acceleration. I could not slow it down with braking, as the brake was totally ineffective, although I had full pressure on the pedal. I crashed into another vehicle, which severed my lower control arm, the wheel swung out and was cut into two pieces, and the axle came out. As a result. I had reached speed exceeding 40 mph in a second or two. It was the most traumatic event I have ever been in. I have researched dozens of accounts of this exact vehicle experiencing "sua" or sudden unintended acceleration where it could not be slowed and went into uncontrolled speeds leading to crashes. . 8 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/04/2019

The check engine light came on and the vehicle's electronic throttle control systems was inoperable. Upon stopping and releasing the brake the vehicle lunges forward accelerating suddenly to 20 miles per hour. When place in reverse the vehicle and releasing the brake the vehicle lunges as well. Additionally, when the check engine light and electronic throttle control indicator light is on, after lunging, the vehicle will not allow you to accelerate beyond 30 to 40 mph after the initial lunge. I have had two incidents that have damaged my car. It only happens when the vehicle is in drive or reverse making it unsafe to operate.

On 9/22/16 the vehicle was accelerating rapidly for 15 seconds even when I had my foot on the brake paddle trying to stop the vehicle. I have some recordings and next time this happens again I will be recording more footage to show that there is a problem with the acceleration on the 2007 Jeep cherokee laredo. I would like to point out that after the recall of p41/NHTSA 14v-438 was complete and the ignition switch was replaced I have started to have problems. First the new part that was replaced caused the short in the vehicle which caused the vehicle not to start. This was fixed on my cost and now the vehicle accelerates by itself and it is very dangerous.

Sudden unintended acceleration "sua" occurs at a complete stop with brake applied. First time 08/14 as I pulled into a forward facing curb-I had just come to a complete stop and was about to put the car in park when the engine loudly surged. I was astonished and got the car into neutral;the surging stopped. The car was new and I could not believe this happened-I was dumbfounded. The second time the "sua" happened was 01/26/15 -I came to a complete stop at traffic light behind several cars. As I came to a stop with my foot on the brake the car's engine surged violently and the car tried to move forward. My husband was a passenger in the car and witnessed my foot was on the brake. I immediately moved the gear shift to neutral and surging stopped. I relayed this incident to Jeep service rep by email who said he never heard of this. The third time of "sua" was 6/25/15; I was first car at traffic light. I came to complete stop with foot applied to brake when the engine surged, the car squealed and jumped about 3-4 feet into the intersection; I got the gear into neutral and the surging subsided. Took the car to Jeep dealer who tried to duplicate the situation over a period of 14 days without success. I also contacted Chrysler corp. Who opened and then dropped a case. Fourth time on 12/03/16-I was 3rd car at a traffic light and, again, came to complete stop with foot on the brake when the engine surged violently and rammed the car in front of me damaging my car and his. In this instance I was unable to get the car to neutral in time. Chrysler corp was contacted, they investigated by retrieving info from edr and concluded "we are not led to believe this is a manufacturing responsibility and . . . Decline any assistance with this incident. " our written requests for the data results have been ignored. Jeep service will not issue us a repair order-the car is unsafe!.
