I taken my vehicle to the dealership three times in less than one year, and my recall have not been fixed. An unexpected loss of propulsion can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning is what the recall is saying. This vehicle is not safe to drive, yet the dealership won't provide me another vehicle, nor buying it back. The recall number is 73c. My hybrid electrical system light comes on and my vehicle cuts off by itself when driving. Vehicle can catch fire at any moment due to this recall not being fixed.

Was driving with the kids in the car, all of our safety was put at risk when the warning lamp came on and then the gear shift system malfunctioned. It said service hybrid system then went away. This is the third time this has happened. I had to pull over and got honked at by cars that had to stop to avoid hitting us. The problem has been confirmed by today's announcement over the impending recall for this exact issue. The component has not been inspected, I am scared to drive it to the dealer.

As I was driving in a parking lot, the service hybrid error popped up and then suddenly the vehicle was showing to press brake & hit start button. The vehicle began slowing down and even while pressing the gas the vehicle wouldn’t do anything. I was able to coast into an empty part of the parking lot. The vehicle then wouldn’t go into park. The emergency brake engaged without me doing anything. Then it kept telling me to press brake & hit start button but it wouldn’t do anything. The veg hole seemed to be on. But acted as if it was off. I sat disabled in the parking lot for 5-10 minutes before it would turn back on and let me resume normal activities.
While driving vehicle goes into limp mode I lose acceleration but rpms on dashboard jump into the red zone and various warning lights show up I coast off to the side and put vehicle in park and shut off engine. When I restart everything clears and vehicle is normal again. This happened 3 times so far and dealer had the car 12 days and cannot duplicate the problem saying no codes show up show up on the scanner.
While driving the vehicle, several warning lights activated, the first being automatic emergency braking is disabled. The second warning light advised me to not turn the car off until I got to my destination. It further advised that I would not be able to shift gears. The vehicle began to slow down on its own until it came to a complete stop. I was in the middle of an intersection when this happened. The dashboard was displaying a message saying press brake and push button to start car. Nothing happened when I did that. I could not shift gears or get the vehicle to move at all. Even though, I was getting the message to push the button to start the vehicle, I believe the vehicle was actually on. I was stuck near the intersection for one hour with a tow truck on the way when I was finally able to turn the e vehicle off. When it turned back on, the check engine light was on and the vehicle was able to drive. It has now happened three times.
It was a clear day as I arrived at work. While pulling into a parking spot, the Jeep suddenly accelerated over a curb and into a tree. I was able to turn the wheel upon seeing the tree, which helped me avoid hitting other vehicles on the opposite side of the island. I had to depress the brakes multiple times before the vehicle finally stopped just short of another tree. During the incident, I was on a conference call. The attendees confirmed that there were no warning sounds from the vehicle—only the sound of the impact. Notably, the airbags did not deploy. The front driver-side area sustained extensive damage, causing the driver’s door to jam. Fortunately, I did not suffer any physical injuries. The vehicle was towed to an auto body repair shop. When connected to a scanner, no error codes were detected. Repairs took nearly five weeks. Although the front sensors were replaced, they still did not function properly. The shop consulted a technician who remoted in and advised them to replace all the sensors again and inspect the wiring. Although the vehicle has been repaired, I remain fearful of driving it. I’ve read similar reports on this board suggesting these issues may be related to the electrical system. I plan to contact the dealership to ask whether they have experience with such cases and if they can inspect the systems.

I purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee on [xxx] unaware that the vehicle was subject to a federal safety recall and stop-sale order. The recall (NHTSA 24v-838 / manufacturer 94b) was issued on November 7, 2024, for a defect in the abs control module that may disable the anti-lock braking system (abs), electronic stability control (esc), and cause unintended vehicle movement even while stationary. A stop-sale order (vir 2024-11-14) was issued by stellantis on November 14, 2024, prohibiting the sale or delivery of affected vehicles until repaired. Despite this, the dealership sold me the vehicle while the recall was still open and unrepaired. In the months following my purchase, I began experiencing issues with the electronic throttle control (etc). On June 15, 2025, I paid $770 out-of-pocket for etc sensor repairs after a loss of throttle response. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, but this defect may be linked to the broader electronic issues cited in the recall. No warning lights appeared in advance. I have been driving this vehicle daily without knowing it could malfunction in a way that puts myself and others at risk. I only learned of the recall on June 22, 2025, when I searched the VIN through NHTSA’s database. This has caused emotional distress, financial harm, and a complete loss of trust in the vehicle’s safety. I am seeking appropriate accountability for the illegal sale of this recalled vehicle and want to ensure others are not put in similar danger. My husband was driving down a state road when the car shut down. He started the SUV back on & we where fine. 2nd time I was driving on the interstate [xxx] ) when the car shut off & the dashboard displayed "shift to park". I kept control of the car put the emergency lights on & got of the way. Waited a few minutes & the SUV started back took me home the next day I took it to the dealership they replaced the transmission. I got the car back Friday [xxx] drove it home & on Tuesday [xxx] put 93% gas in the car was on my way back on [xxx] . Stopped at a light with my grandson in the car & the car started to shake a little shut off again the dash indicated "shift to park" I turned the car on & off a few times finally after about 5 mins it started & I was on to my destination. At my destination I turned the car on 3 times. Started with out a problem. Got on the road headed back home. At the same spot, the car shut down again for the 3rd time. Dash again stating I need to "shift to park". This is the very dangerous. I had the car towed to the Jeep dealership & there it is waiting on a diagnosis as to what is wrong with my beautiful 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Please find a way to fix this issue. I dont want to get into a serious car accident because of this crazy issue. Thank you. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I was driving on the freeway and the car stuttered and then stopped, had to get towed home found out the aux battery was bad, replaced that and brake hub and sensor on driver tire but abs. And anti swerve light. Also no cruise control. Screen says fcw unavailable service required, also 4wf service.
Was pulling into a parking spot on the 2nd level of parking garage and the Jeep accelerated and hit the cement wall at front of garage space. It accelerated on its own. The front of the Jeep was crushed, and I ended up with a fractured sternum and a seat belt hernia which I will have surgery in the next couple of weeks. The airbags did not deploy. And I did not press on the gas pulling into the parking spot --- it just accelerated on its own. When I first got in the car the system showed that systems disabled, but the then the message went away. When I pressed seat one, it did not go in place and I had to adjust it on my own. I continued on to my dermitologist appointment , pulled into the the parking space and the instant brake when too close did not break and the air bags did not deploy. Thru me into the cement wall, and the whole front of the car was demolished, not epairable.
My Jeep Grand Cherokee 2022 4xe lost power while I was going 65 miles per hour on the freeway. I had great difficulty getting to the side of the freeway nearly being struck by other drivers. I had no power steering and no way to put my hazard lights on when the car lost power. The Jeep is still not drivable at this time and is at the dealership.
I am a victim of sua (sudden unintended acceleration. I entered my driveway and had my foot on the brake petal. Before I could shift into park, the vehicle revved to a high rpm and then took off like a rocket. Brakes were initially hard to press and then the petal went to the floor, and I lost the brakes. This all happened very quickly and took me by surprise. I crashed through a double cyclone gate, closed garage door, back of the garage, double fence in back of garage, neighbors jacuzie and shed, hit the side of another neighbor's house and ac unit. It seemed that the power train electronics malfunctioned and caused all of this. Progressive insurance took procession of the vehicle and declared it a total loss.
We leased a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe in June 2023, and since that time the vehicle has been a chronic source of mechanical and electrical failure. Over the past two years, it has been in for service 11 times, spending more than 115 total days in the shop, with at least 9 repeat issues—largely related to high-voltage interference and hybrid system instability, from our research. The problems began before we ever took possession, with a service record at just 12 miles on the odometer showing a repair to the integrated dual charging module (1890169a). Since then, we've experienced a cascade of issues affecting sensors, control modules, cameras, switches, and critical vehicle systems—many of which appear to stem from electromagnetic interference (emi) related to the hybrid platform. Key repairs have included: park assist and adas control modules (09/28/23) reprogramming of multiple modules (backup camera, backup sensors) (01/25/24) backup view camera replacement (02/16/24) fuel system pump and lighting issues (04/05/24) high-voltage recall 95b, battery coolant pump, wiring harness, battery fire risk & issue (01/30–04/01/25) the final straw came on 05/09/2025, when—while driving 70 mph on the freeway—the vehicle suddenly shut off without warning. We lost all acceleration and power, forcing us to drift to the shoulder in traffic. It took multiple restart attempts and a wait period before the vehicle became responsive again. This was not only terrifying—it was dangerous. The next day, the Jeep dealer where the vehicle was purchased, picked up our car, and we’ve received no update on its status. It is currently undrivable, and we fear it’s unsafe. We previously filed for arbitration for with ncds (March 2023), which was denied. The situation has deteriorated significantly since then, and we are now filing a second arbitration, alongside this formal NHTSA safety complaint. Certified letters sent to the manufacturer earlier this year have gone unanswered.
To whom it may concern, I am writing to express my deep frustration and serious concerns regarding the repeated and dangerous failures I have experienced with the battery systems in three separate Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles – model years 2022, 2024, and now 2025 4xe. In each case, I encountered a complete battery failure within the first 3,000 miles of the car’s life. These failures have not only rendered the vehicles completely inoperable but have completely shut down all functionality while driving, leaving me stranded on the road an outright dangerous design flaw with zero warning or alert of malfunction. At first, I considered the possibility of coincidence or simple bad luck. Now, it is evident this is a systemic and known issue that stellantis/Jeep has failed to address. It is absolutely unacceptable that a brand-new Jeep product could exhibit such a fundamental reliability defect, and even more troubling that no proactive support or acknowledgment has been provided to affected consumers like myself. This is disgraceful, inexcusable, and beneath the standards expected of any automaker, let alone one that charges a premium for its products. This situation also raises serious questions about the strategic direction the company may have taken under their former ceo, carlos tavares, whose well-documented focus on near-term cost-cutting and margin improvements appears to be manifesting in subpar quality control and dangerous engineering compromises. I demand to know what stellantis is prepared to do in response to the severe design flaw and associated safety risks with the new battery and electrical systems in their Jeep products.
On April 12th my husband and I were driving our Jeep after it had a recall and update to fix the recall of a battery issue on all 4xe models. We were doing 45 mph down the road and it threw an error code that said “service hybrid electric vehicle system”, “service emergency braking system” the Jeep then shut off and said for us to push the brake and press start for us to turn the car on in the middle of the road. We were able to safely get off the road, when we came to a stop the car put itself into park automatically. We had to start it a couple of times to make sure it was ok to turn around and drive home. It was then towed to the dealership. They told us they could see the issue logged in the system but they could not replicate the same issue after driving it. They told us that we had to come and pick up the Jeep and I told them how unsafe that made me feel for us and everyone on the road. They told us there’s nothing they could do for us. We got the car back and another issue arose where are passive entry switch became corroded and our car kept unlocking itself throughout the night. The day we got it back from them we were driving it and we got the same “service hybrid electric vehicle system” again. So I brought our Jeep back again and they told me in the service department they’ve been working with the engineers at Jeep and they are waiting for an update to fix it and it’s one of four in the area with this issue and Jeep is fully aware of the severity of the issue. They also told me they would be holding on to our car until it’s fixed. I was called by the head of the service department at that dealership and was told they need their loaner car back and they got word they’ll maybe have a fix for our car in November. They knowingly gave us our completely unsafe Jeep back and told us to try for lemon law - with all parties knowing the severity of the security and lives put at risk on the road. We have gotten this error code many times and are told there is no fix.
I started with the 95b recall when car owners were instructed to not plug in their vehicles or park near any other structures for about 4 months until a fix was released. Then my car experienced multiple service hybrid sysytem errors. The car physically shut down on two separate occasions, both while I was transporting my child, putting us at extreme risk for an accident. It has been at the dealership since July 2025 with the mechanic receiving a digital crash code. His attempts to talk with someone at Jeep/stelantis have gone unanswered. The vehicle is currently located at the Jeep dealership in los cabos, baja California sur, mexico and is available for inspection upon request.
Traveling at around 55 mph, slowed down for a stop light. Dash started flashing and beeping and stated "shift to park then shift to desired gear. " could not accelerate, had to put in park then back in drive to keep moving. No check engine light. 2 dealerships cannot fix because there's no code. Seems to be a common occurrence on Jeep forums. Afraid this will happen again on the interstate and I will get rear ended or not be able to get off the road. Major safety concern!.
The contact owned a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated the vehicle had been driven for three hours and parked. Moments later, the vehicle was restarted and while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration. While pressing the brake pedal, the vehicle did not stop and continued to accelerate forward, and the speed increased. While attempting to avoid driving into a river, the contact made a left turn and crashed into a tree. After crashing into the tree, the vehicle continued to accelerate forward and began to increase speed. The contact shifted the transmission shifter to the park position, and the vehicle was stopped. During the incident, no injuries were reported, a police report was taken the next morning, and the vehicle was towed to a nearby towing facility. The vehicle was later examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the failure was caused by a computer malfunction. No further information was available. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 64,000.
Unknown or uncertain about needing a recall. Recently my car has been having trouble with acceleration in the sense that either it will lag or stall out and at times will give acceleration even without me trying to depress the gas harder. It sputters like it either cannot get gas or the fuel system is faulty, it keeps throwing codes and the check engine light dings and flashes. Cruise control sometimes will not come on, theres a burnt smell and rough idles, I have noticed a deep humming sound under my feet while driving, and sometimes when shifting from park to gear it jerks really hard, going down the road it acts like it takes too long to shift. It really is very scary when it does these things, its a daily occurrence. Sometimes it drives just fine then all of a sudden will malfunction. I've only had the car not quite 2 years and they said they repaired the recalls in 2018, after I had scheduled an appointment for July 2025.
My cars dash had a lot of lights turn on and my car just shut off while I was driving I took my car to the dealership and was told that they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. About six weeks later my car just turned off again while I was driving but this time only the service hybrid light turned on and quickly turned off. I just called the dealership and will be dropping off my car again.
The traction control light comes on while driving, once that happens it changes the performance of the vehicle it stays in one and it doesn’t allow you to do more then 43 at the most.

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 20-25 mph, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated around a corner. The contact depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle slowed down. The vehicle jerked, but the contact was able to continue driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
I was parking in my sister's driveway and car just accelerated in to her house!.
The car have a lot of problems engine total failure, mounting joints failure, acelere by him self, jerking,,while driving vehicle kicks aggressively in to gear, oil cup broken down make in the engine to blow oil over , no oil in engine. Sometimes missing 3. Quarters of oil because the seal of the engine no last , is a lot problems in this car.
Lights on the dashboard were blinking, there were no turning signals, the gas gauge was not working, and the check engine light was flashing. My safety was put at risk because I could not let people know when I was turning. I took it to the dealer, and they said there were too many codes, but none were active for them to fix the problem. So, I have to drive the Jeep, but this is dangerous. The warning keeps showing me that there is a problem with the ignition switch that was previously recalled. I want this taken care of, please.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. The contact stated that while in a parking space and reversing, the vehicle was then shifted into drive and the high gear message was displayed. The vehicle accelerated unintendedly and the brake pedal failed to bring the vehicle to a stop. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a 2015 Chrysler town and country where it came to a stop. No warning lights illuminated. There were no reported injuries, fire or air bag deployment. A police report was filed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 71,535.
I recently had a recall fix for the hybrid system battery. Days after the car was serviced my dashboard displayed messages saying to service the hybrid system and the 4wd. Two days later I was stopped at an intersection. I put my foot on the gas and after a few feet I lost power and the car only rolled. I was able to roll onto the shoulder while the dashboard was displaying multiple errors and showed the parking break was on, along with other warnings. I turned off the car and turned it back on. I selected the e-save setting wnich allowed me to complete the drive without any further issues.
My car keeps slipping into neutral, not able to go over forty three miles per hour. Will not go into park or drive at times. Electrical issues. This has happened several times two times on the freeway, with one of them and entering the freeway, almost causing an accident.
Cylinder head gasket(s) has a leak. It limited my ability to speed up and keep up with traffic in a timely manner, requiring me to put on hazards forcing others to navigate around me causing a backlog of traffic and other potential hazards. I have had inspected by two different auto repair shops and both came to the same conclusion, they have also told me that they have seen this issue on the same make and model of my car and other surrounding years of the same make and model quite a bit. Check engine light came on, and there was a sensor warning on the dash the day of the problem cropping up. Per the repair shops either this issue has been silently present in my car for some time or the leak in it is very aggressive due to the remaining volume of oil in my engine.
When driving down interstate five in san diego, my vehicle decided that it wanted to come to a screeching halt suddenly as the forward collision system activated randomly, causing my neck to jolt and a distill in pain. I had no idea what was going on, but in order to try to get out of the way of traffic, I quickly tried to override what the system was doing after coming to a complete stop, then the accelerator stuck getting the vehicle going over 100 mph. The hybrid system only shut down the gas engine, but the electric was still propelling the vehicle to go forward. I had to hit the button to turn the vehicle to gas only and shift into neutral in order for the vehicle to finally stop getting below 100 miles per hour to where I could safely pull over to the side of the road. I called Jeep and they laughed.
Purchased vehicle at dealer with 0 miles, and shortly after I had a service hybrid battery, brake system malfunction, auto emergency braking service required. After taking to the dealer multiple times. They are unable to find anything.
