I was at a red stop light and when the light turned green I lifted my foot off the brake and onto the gas pedal and realized my 2016 Grand Cherokee would not move and had completely stalled. I checked to make sure the gear was not in neutral and read an error message on the dash that said something along the lines of shift the gear into park and then into desired gear. I could not put the car into drive and had to completely shut of my vehicle and restart it to get it into drive. I was lucky that it was late at night and not many people were around although one person came speeding up behind me and had to switch lanes to not hit me, even came with a not so friendly honk. I have heard of many other people experiencing this exact same situation including while driving at high speeds on the highway and taking turns in busy traffic. This is a very dangerous scenario and I am surprised it has not yet led to a fatal accident.

Vehicle does not start as it should consistently. Vehicle has an inconsistent delay in moving forward after stopping at a red light and will have a jerk/jumping feeling in the transmission after the delay/stall from moving forward. This has been an ongoing issue since December 2019 when I initially took the vehicle to get looked at and the dealership states they do not have parts to fix the issue as of September 2020!.

When first starting the car it would stumble & stall & stop. After a number of starts it would keep running if I kept my foot on the gas pedal. Finally it was running so it could be driven home, but at times it would stumble & stall, at at time almost no acceleration. I had to keep 1 foot on the gas pedal to keep the car running. The car was taken to a repair shop, where it remains. The trouble was diagnosed a fuel pump failure. Previous model Jeeps have had the same problem and were recalled.
I purchased my Jeep used in April of 2019. On 2 occasions so far, while coming to a stop the engine cuts out. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get it restarted. This has happened both times while stopping at a light in busy traffic. . Read more...

The safety recall re the defective fuel pump is a serious safety issue, vehicle stalling at any speed without warning. The recall was issued several months ago and the manufacturer still has not been able to correct the issue, nor given a time when the parts are available.
Car is stalling when pulling up to a stop.
As I turned into a gas station after driving highway speeds, the vehicle stalled out. I lost power steering and brakes. The dash began flashing put vehicle in park to start. I had to come to a complete stop, place the vehicle in park and then restart it. The vehicle has approx 3800 miles on it with a fresh oil change from the dealership, frontier Dodge. After restarting, the vehicle ran fine.

We tried to enter hwy 65 north in mo . From a side hwy . Hwy 65 is a 4 lane hwy , 2 lanes north and 2 lanes south . We crossed the 2 south lanes and waited till we could enter the north bound lanes . When it was safe to go I stepped on the throttle and the motor stayed at idle . It put us in the middle of the 2 norh lanes and stopped . I kept pressing on the throttle until we krept accross the lanes and out of traffic coming at us at 65 mph . This has happened several times . It has happened in town where we live in az . We also had trouble when we entered the road by our hotel . This is going to cause some one to be killed . This problem started after an emissions recall was installed . Recall / csn 1 v08 - 3. 0 diesel.
Alternator recall already exists for this 2011 production 8/2010, 3. 6 ltr. 160 amp. My battery light is on and dealer said its probably the pcm. Quoted 850 for part . My VIN doesn't show up on above recall, even though all qualifying criteria is met. Why? car will stall when battery is dead. Cant be driven at night. Disablec vet caregiver.
While driving 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee with children in car, the Jeep just stalls out on me and I lose control of the steering. It has happened most times when I am making left and right turns.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 30-40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact coasted into a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to bolles motors 84 (west rd, ellington, CT 06029), to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to capitol Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (1520 w main st, willimantic, CT 06226) and was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and was diagnosed with a crack in the transmission and needed to be repaired. Tried to start my Jeep it wouldn't start. I used the push button. I waited a few hrs and tried again. Same issue. Tried my remote start. Started up. Next day used the push start, started up no problem, on the highway (95) the truck was hesitating when going up an incline. Next day push start won't work, the engine would turn over as usual but wouldn't start. Remote start and it started up. Son took it and put it on the diagnosis machine and said there weren't any codes. Researching a hard starting problem I've read tons of posts very similar to what I have experienced. I called the dealer to make an appointment. Asked could it possibly be the same issue that my truck was re called on already. He said might be r09 fuel relay recall, timp problem, (recall was a temporary solution to install a fuel pump harness bypass so that the fuel pump turns off) but that if it is, the dealer said they already replaced that and will not do again unless it is pd for, after they put the Jeep on their diagnosis machine at $175. 00 per hr. So after they completed the 9th recall I pick up my Jeep with hopes that I could do more research. I also called Jeep. The lady was very nice but they will do nothing except add my complaint to their system. I found out that many people had the same problem as I do! Jeep/Chrysler have put faulty timp in these cars and do not want to put a recall out on them. Many cars with my model have had the same complaints. The faulty timp has the fuel pump running constantly which drains the battery it runs when the car is off. Now if I try to start the vehicle it smells like something is burning. After researching this problem I found the issue to be a timp problem and now am aware that I am not alone. There are hundreds if not more Jeep owners that are having the same issue.
Since doing the eco diesel update Jeep has a serious lag / stall when accelerating and when going around 20 miles per hour when accelerating. Numerous times when crossing out into traffic the vehicle has a lag/ power delay almost causing an accident. This was not an issue until the eco diesel update was done. Its currently at the dealership, per the service manager they are aware of the issue and have had numerous complaints with the Jeep and trucks due to the eco diesel update, but they have no resolution.
Ecodiesel emissions recall. After having the emissions recall done to my vehicle on 8/20/19, the vehicle is extremely sluggish and non reliable. The turbo lag is horrible, sometimes 1-3 seconds, sometimes 4 or 5. Transmission doesn't seem to know where it wants to be at times. None of the issues are constant and therefore you never know when you pull into traffic if you will have the power needed or stall and get hit. Safety hazard is an understatement and families will be hurt over this poor attempt at a "fix". Jeep was extremely responsive and had more torque readily available prior to the recall. Now it is gutless and I wouldn't attempt to hook the boat up to it.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled multiple times on different occasions. The vehicle was taken to forest lake Chrysler Dodge Jeep & ram located at 321 19th st sw, forest lake, mn 55025, but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was rejected to be serviced due to the part not available for the repair. The contact also stated that the vehicle was previously repaired at an independent mechanic for the stalling however, the failure recurred. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system) however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The alternator in my vehicle failed and caused the car to stall while driving on the highway. There is a recall, p60 alternator but it is only related to the 3. 6l engine and I have the 5. 8l v8. There is also an advanced communication t3607112017 which seems to describe my vehicle and includes the v8 Jeep but it is also not listed as a recall on my vehicle. How do I find out why my vehicle was excluded from the recall as my vehicle was affected.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact had to place the vehicle in the park position and turn off and restart the vehicle in order for it to resume normal operation. The failure only occurred when the vehicle came to a complete stop. The dealer was not contacted. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to breeden Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram (located at 5900 us-71 bus, fort smith, ar 72908, (479) 646-4731) where it was diagnosed that two of the six injectors were inoperable and needed to be replaced. The mechanic was unable to explain why the injectors failed. The wiring harness to the injectors were disconnected and reconnected, but the failure recurred twice. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
D and r on transmission blinks then stalls. While on reverse, does not reverse. While on d, stalls, have to put it back to park and re-start engine. Took to dealer, they can not find anything, for me to wait till mal signal comes on in order for them to find code. Dangerous, as I already was stuck twice in traffic. Only has 24000 miles.
I have been since 2017 (September) with a situation of a recall t36, the situation was resolved temporarily (see annexes included). I was then assigned to a consultant mr. Lucas figueroa, work my case and clearly indicated through emails (I have all the evidence) that the alternator (by then 2017) was not available anywhere, triangle dealer del oeste was installed a piece that was not the recall while the piece was available. I must clarify that this situation occurred on September 8, 2017 and I was delivered my bus on November 9, 2017. You can refer to case #11039953 assigned by NHTSA. I am demanding to have the t36 recall part installed. It clearly indicates in the communications that it is a temporary remedy. And even more, I was told that when the part was available or manufactured them (an fca officer) would call me to let me know that I could pass to install the same. I never got the call. I need this case handled with the seriousness it deserves. Recall dealer t59 (which has already been done) I explain about the recall pending the t36 (alternator) and I am notified that the alternator is already installed.
I recently had the ecodiesel update installed on our 2014 ecodiesel Jeep Grand Cherokee. The statement from the manufacturer is the driving conditions, fuel mileage, and performance will not be impacted due to the ecm update. These are false statements as the updated has greatly impacted our vehicle! fuel mileage as decreased greatly, there is a huge lag in the turbo, and the transmission shifts gears all over the place. The update is unsafe! my wife drives this car with our twin 15 month old boys. The lack in response of the turbo makes it unsafe while driving on the freeway. There is no get up and go, it's difficult to merge into traffic, and nearly impossible to pass. There is no responsivness in the throttle to feel like you have control over the car. We loved this car before the madated update (we live in California, we have to get the update to register the car). No we feel like the car is unsafe to drive with our children in it!.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When the vehicle pulled out of the driveway at 5 mph, it stalled and rolled into the middle of the road. The contact stopped the vehicle and had to shift through all gears to restart the vehicle. The contact called gengras Chrysler Dodge (460 connecticut blvd, east hartford CT, 06108 860-956-5083) and was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17v572000 (service brakes, service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,000.
Vehicle stalls while being driven is the most serious issue ac works sporadically. Door lock unlock sporadically will not work stationary dangerous issue is the vehicle stalling out while being driven on highways.
Took several times to disengage the cruise control even after having new software update installed.
Push button start does not work. Fuel pump is not working properly to allow the vehicle to start. The vehicle has stalled out on a freeway. Will not start while stationary. I have to tap the fuel pump in order to start the vehicle.
Braking from ~35mph to make a right turn at traffic lights the car just stalls without any indication of issue. No power steering or brakes. All electronics still functional. Coast to to a stop at the side of the road, fighting the heavy steering to avoid cars in the on coming lane, place in park press brake pedal and hit start button, and the car starts right up. Drive to dealership (prime Jeep in saco, maine). Steering module clock spring was replaced last year (August 2018) as the supposed cause for this exact stalling problem that was happening last year.
2011 Grand Cherokee overland 5. 7 v8 approx 124000 miles stalled when turning left through intersection slowing from 50 to 25 mph. Steering and brakes failed. All recalls have been performed. This was supposedly fixed with p54 (fuel pump relay). Fortunately I was not towing my boat. This issue seems to have spanned many years and is extremely dangerous.
When stopped at a light car stalled, start stop pressed after car places in park and car ran. Automatic off error lit up on screen in yellow and remained on despite turning off automatic off. Then when came to another stop at a drive through, car was placed in park and the car again wouldn't take off after returning to drive until stop start was pressed again even though auto off was still turned off.
