On 5/72026@app 3:14pm after picking up one grandchild, and at a stop light on the way to p/u the other, the Jeep without warning just disengaged when the gas pedal was depressed, but to no avail. While frozen, the dashboard may have displayed something that was not noted in the panic to get the car moving! the internal panel was still illuminated, however the car would not move forwards although still in "drive" with nothing having been switched, shifted or toggled except engagement of the brake to stop at the traffic light. The Jeep had to be placed in "park", the starter button pressed, then pressed again to completely restart the vehicle. This was a potentially huge safety issue with many cars around us honking & rushing to pick up their own children, yet fortunately no one ran into us with our precious little rider!.

I recently purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and began experiencing serious issues almost immediately after taking possession of the vehicle. The vehicle has stalled unexpectedly while driving on multiple occasions, including during active driving conditions. It also has difficulty starting and has shut off without warning. The vehicle has already undergone multiple repairs within a short period of time, including work related to the radiator, spark plugs, and ignition coil. Despite these repairs, the issues continue. This creates a significant safety concern, as the vehicle becomes inoperable without warning, especially during daily highway driving. I rely on this vehicle for transportation, and it is currently unreliable and unsafe to operate.
My vehicle some times gives a jerk once in awhile I also have been told I cant charge my vehicle these recalls have no fix to them I am getting really tired of this and want Jeep to buy back my vehicle!!!.

I, [xxx] was driving home from work on Friday, may 1st on [xxx] in [xxx] during heavy traffic when my vehicle suddenly shut off while traveling approximately 65–70 mph. I initially thought I may not have been pressing the accelerator hard enough, but the vehicle would not respond at all. I then looked at the dashboard and saw a message that said “push brake to start. ” at that moment I realized the vehicle had shut down completely while I was in active traffic. I had to coast across three lanes of traffic without any propulsion to reach the shoulder. During this time, I was nearly struck twice from behind because I could not maintain speed with surrounding traffic. Once I reached the shoulder, I was able to restart the vehicle. I was extremely shaken and frightened by the incident. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle again. I was very aware that I could have been seriously injured or killed, and I am thankful I was not struck. I am especially concerned about what could have happened if my grandchild had been in the vehicle with me. This incident occurred after a recall repair had already been performed in September 2025 related to powertrain/hybrid system issues. The failure appears to be the same or similar to the condition the recall was intended to correct. After restarting the vehicle, I drove cautiously to my husband’s workplace and left the vehicle parked. Since the incident, I have experienced ongoing anxiety and distress reliving what happened. This vehicle was intended to be a long-term purchase, and it is extremely concerning that it now appears unsafe to operate. This event represents a serious safety hazard. A sudden loss of propulsion at highway speeds without warning creates a high risk of crash, injury, or death. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, as the prior recall repair does not appear to have corrected the problem. I do not feel this vehicle is safe to operate. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My vehicle is a subject of recall 22v-406 (fca recall number z46 [xxx] ), and the repair work for that recall was completed on April 26 of 2024. On April 23, 2026, the vehicle failed in the exact way described in the recall: loss of power, particulate in the fuel lines, failed high-pressure fuel pump. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I was sold a defective 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. Both the batter and engine can catch fire while parked and is not recommended to be parked near other cars or any structures. The dealership told me that the recalls were not on my vehicle at the time of purchase per stellantis (November 7, 2025) which in fact they were. They said my car was not protected under lemon law which it is. And a number of other misinformation. I bought the car for around $35,000 and in 6 months the value depreciated to $20,000 per the sales manager michael morris. They claimed to have no access to this purchase in their database.
First, after a trip of approximately 100 miles, the vehicle would not advance after stopping at a stop sign. I had to shift from drive to park and back to drive before the vehicle would move. In the second case, again after a trip over 100 miles, primarily on the highway, the vehicle failed to shift out of first gear while the engine revved to over 7,000 rpm when I left an intersection. In that instance a warning light came up on the dash indicating rpms in the red zone. Once again I had to pull over, put the vehicle in park and re-engage drive before the vehicle would drive in a more normal fashion. It was the following day, when I entered the dealership for a service appointment, that the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle did not run smoothly. The service department determined it was a spark plug issue and claims the problem has been resolved. They also said this issue is fairly common on new (2026) Jeep Grand Cherokee models. There is less than 1,200 miles on the vehicle. I feel I was very lucky that the situation in both instances was relatively safe and there was minimal risk of injury, death and/or property damage. I have lost all confidence in the vehicle.
The thermostat failed causing the vehicle to go into a reduced power mode while climbing a hill with a trailer. The dealer has a technical service bulletin for this issue but the overheating can call engine damage or an accident when the vehicle has reduced power. There were no warnings on the cluster until the car was already in a protection mode and power had been reduced. The cluster coolant temperature gauge is slow to respond and not accurate.
I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue with my brand-new Jeep Grand Cherokee (got it from darcars rockville, MD dealership) and to request immediate resolution under warranty and applicable consumer protection laws. I purchased this vehicle with the expectation of reliability, safety, and comfort for my family. Unfortunately, within a very short period of ownership, the vehicle has experienced repeated and dangerous failures. On 17th April 2026, while traveling at approximately 65 mph on a highway in pennsylvania around 1:00 am, the vehicle suddenly shut down without warning. This created an extremely hazardous situation for my family. We contacted roadside assistance, but no help arrived until approximately 8:00 am. Due to freezing temperatures and lack of heat in the vehicle, we were forced to call 911 for assistance and were transported to a nearby hotel around 3:30 am. The vehicle was subsequently towed to a dealership, where diagnostics were performed. We were informed that the issue was related to a coding or malfunction and that it had been resolved. However, just two days later, while returning home, the exact same issue occurred again under similar conditions—vehicle shutdown at highway speed. Once again, we were stranded at night, forced to rely on emergency services, and did not reach home until approximately 4:30 am. This pattern of failure is unacceptable and represents a severe safety defect. My family’s safety was put at significant risk on two separate occasions. As a result, we have completely lost confidence in the vehicle’s reliability and safety. Immediate escalation of this case and a full technical investigation a written explanation of the root cause of these failures a permanent resolution to ensure this issue cannot recur consideration of a manufacturer buyback or replacement under applicable lemon law provisions.

I am a former transmission calibration engineer at stellantis, so I know what I'm talking about. I experienced an engine stall event while coasting down in speed. I was in town, driving about 30 mph, and coasting (0% pedal). I lightly applied the brakes and while the vehicle was still in motion (coasting) the engine stalled. The information cluster displayed a message that said "put the vehicle in park and restart the engine. " I coasted around a corner, came to a stop, put the transmission in park, and restarted the engine. No mil or codes were set. I have a scan tool and confirmed later that no codes were set. I'm fairly certain the engine was in dfso (decel fuel shutoff) when the issue occurred as the conditions were all correct for dfso (engine was in normal operating temperature range, gear was 5th or 6th when coasting was initiated, and pedal was 0% for several seconds before the issue occurred). Loss of propulsion is an obvious safety concern as I lost control of the vehicle.
My 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee just completely lost power again and almost got hit by the car following me. Almost got hit again coasting to the side of the road! this has happened before and the repair shop tried updating software which did not fix it. Why was the 2017 not included in your recall of the power transfer case? repair shop diagnosed problem the last time it happened as the ptc! I am an attorney and want this included in your 2019-2023 recall! please do not force me to file a lawsuit to fix this safety issue!.

Nhtsa complaint draft I am filing a follow-up complaint regarding recall 78c on my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. This recall involves risk of catastrophic engine failure, loss of propulsion, and potential fire. It has now been approximately 5 months since the recall was issued, and there is still no remedy available. I have completed all other recalls that had remedies and have fully complied with all manufacturer instructions. Due to the safety concerns and lack of a remedy, I was instructed by stellantis to obtain a rental vehicle when a loaner was not provided. I incurred out-of-pocket rental expenses based on this guidance. However, despite multiple follow-up emails, stellantis has failed to provide any reimbursement process, timeline, or response regarding these expenses. Additionally, I have received conflicting and unclear guidance regarding safe operation of the vehicle, including whether it can be driven or charged. This has significantly impacted my ability to safely use the vehicle for its intended purpose. At this point, I have made multiple documented attempts to resolve this directly with stellantis and have received no response. This situation reflects a lack of remedy, lack of communication, and failure to reimburse expenses incurred under manufacturer direction. Immediate action and oversight are needed.
The rear parking collision warning abruptly stopped working. The engine smells like it’s burning. The recall 68c has no remedy currently. My neighborhood is at risk due to this outstanding issue.
This submission is an update to NHTSA complaint #11727024. The vehicle continues to experience recurring engine overheating and misfire conditions. These issues have been previously diagnosed and are consistent with known manufacturer technical service bulletins (tsbs) related to this engine. Despite this: the dealership has not performed the appropriate diagnostic protocol (including star testing) the manufacturer, stellantis, closed my case without resolving the issue no repair or corrective action has been completed the vehicle remains in operation due to lack of manufacturer support. This condition presents a potential safety risk, including: loss of power while driving risk of engine failure or shutdown increased risk during normal roadway operation the vehicle is regularly operated by my 17-year-old daughter, which increases concern regarding driver safety and reliability of the vehicle under these conditions. This situation reflects: a known defect documented by the manufacturer failure of the dealer network to properly diagnose/repair closure of a manufacturer case without resolution of a safety-related issue I am requesting that this complaint be reviewed as part of any broader pattern of similar failures and considered for further investigation.
Had a recall done in February and 3 weeks later the car would not start randomly no warning lights illuminated on the dash prior to being shut off and once it would start it threw 3 codes for p0850, u0100, and u1267 all related to the parts replaced in February for the recall for the 2nd time now regarding the same parts. And trying to get a reinspection done for the recall bc the parts seem to have failed and its been a living nightmare. And unsure why no warning lights were illuminated prior to the car not starting randomly.
While attempting to park my vehicle, it suddenly accelerated on its own, causing the car to move quickly toward a tree and a nearby building. I immediately attempted to stop the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal, but the car continued to accelerate. The engine was roaring, and I even tried using both feet on the brake pedal in an effort to stop the vehicle, but it did not respond. The only way I was able to stop the vehicle was by turning off the engine. Due to the unexpected acceleration and my concern that it could happen again, the vehicle was not safe to drive. A tow truck was called, and the vehicle was transported to a mechanic for inspection.

I was stopped at a red light and when it turned green and I proceeded to drive, my car started to hesitate and quit moving right in the middle of the road. I finally got it to the side of the road. When I attempted to reverse it hesitated again and the r symbol started flashing and the engine light came on. The engine codes are p1d97 clutch a or d defective and p1db8 unintended torque applied while in neutral. Now it's not even drivable.
The contact owned a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while unloading groceries out of her vehicle with the vehicle in park(p) and the engine on, grayish-white smoke began to emit from the vehicle without warning. The contact turned off the vehicle and checked under the hood, where she saw flames in the engine. The contact then ran to the fire department, which was nearby, and informed them of the fire. The fire department arrived at the scene with a fire truck and extinguished the fire. The police department also arrived at the scene, and a police report was filed. No injuries were reported due to the fire. The vehicle was destroyed as a result of the fire, but was not towed. The dealer or manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
Driving on highway, "service hybrid electric vehicle system" warning came on, vehicle lost all propulsion, needed to pull over on road and restart the engine. Almost got into accident with car behind me because of sudden power loss.
Unknown what actually occurs but the entire car shuts off while driving. It has happened to me twice in traffic. Once no warnings, the second time the tire pressure sensor fault flashed went away and then the entire car just shut down while I was driving. I had my child with me and was a scary moment could’ve cause a serious accident or potential death. Car was stuck in the road for over 30min before I could get it to restart and move to a safer location.
I am filing this complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall (recall 78c) on my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, which has now been open for approximately 139 days without a remedy. This recall involves engine manufacturing contamination that may lead to catastrophic engine failure, loss of propulsion, and potential fire risk. Despite the seriousness of the recall, stellantis has failed to provide a remedy and has given conflicting and unclear guidance regarding safe operation. At one point, I was instructed to operate the vehicle using the gasoline engine only. I was later told stellantis cannot provide technical guidance and to contact the dealership. The dealership has stated they have no clear direction from stellantis. As a result, I have no clear understanding of whether it is safe to operate the vehicle, use electric mode, or rely solely on the gasoline engine. Restricting use to the gasoline engine also prevents use of the plug-in hybrid system, meaning the vehicle cannot be used for its intended purpose, resulting in increased fuel costs over several months. I have also incurred out-of-pocket rental car expenses during recall service. Stellantis indicated reimbursement would be available but has not provided a process or responded to follow-ups. Given the nature of the recall and lack of guidance, I cannot determine if this vehicle is safe to transport my newborn child. At this point, I am concerned with both the unresolved defect and the manufacturer’s failure to provide consistent safety direction, communication, or a path toward resolution.
Check engine light with codes: po300, and po305. Misfire in cylinder #5. Changed all spark plugs, and coils. Check engine still on, with same codes. Jeep dealer then said it was the cam shaft and needed new cam shaft head of a price tag of $8500. The car has been well maintained and has 75,200 miles on it. There is a known premature failure with the pentastar engine that is in this vehicle. Jeep is refusing to stand behind their product.
Car has died while driving 4 times in the last 3 years. Complete loss of power while driving. Lost of power steering, loss of brakes while driving. Chrystler is saying recall was resolved by previous owner but it is still happening. Extremely dangerous. I have paid out of pocket to replace the tipm (over $3000) and I was not told about the fuel pump relay issue associated and connected with this recall.

Vehicle: 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee engine: 3. 6l v6 (pentastar) while driving on the highway, the vehicle experienced a sudden engine overheating condition, followed by a catastrophic failure of the coolant recovery tank. This failure created a serious safety hazard and appears to be the result of a known and well-documented head gasket defect in the 3. 6l engine used in Jeep Grand Cherokees. While driving at highway speed, the vehicle was operating normally until I made a left turn. Immediately after the turn, the engine temperature began to rise rapidly, indicating an overheating condition. I turned around and began driving back toward my residence to avoid further damage or a roadside breakdown. Before reaching home, the coolant recovery tank violently exploded, releasing coolant throughout the engine bay. As well as strong burning coolant chemical smells throthis occurred while the vehicle was still in operation and could have resulted in loss of visibility, fire risk, or complete engine failure while driving. After inspection by a qualified professional, the failure was confirmed to be caused by a failed head gasket, which allowed combustion gases to pressurize the cooling system until the coolant recovery tank ruptured. This failure occurred without warning and while the vehicle was being driven on public roadways. A sudden coolant system explosion and rapid overheating can result loss of engine power while driving fire risk from hot coolant contacting engine components loss of vehicle control stranding occupants in unsafe conditions this represents a significant safety defect. Jeep Grand Cherokees equipped with the 3. 6l engine are widely known to experience head gasket failures, typically occurring between 50,000 and 75,000 miles. Despite this known issue, stellantis/Chrysler has not issued a recall, technical service campaign, or extended warranty related to this defect.
I was driving on the highway when all of a sudden my gas pedal stopped propelling the car and the engine seemed to be off. I looked at the dash board and saw that the car was indicating it was off and that I needed to step on the brake and hit the ignition button to turn it back on. I barely had control of the car but was able to pull off to the side of the road. I then had to wait several minutes for the car to respond and turn back on. This has happened in the past to me with this car but this is the first time I knew I could report it here. This is a terrible vehicle and I’ve had nothing but safety issues with it since I leased it.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, there was an unknown warning light flashing on the instrument panel before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer. The contact was not informed of any diagnostic tests or fees by the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 25v766000 (engine); and related the failure to the recall; however, the part for the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
This is the third time that my Jeep has completely shut off with no warning and in the middle of traffic. I am unable to turn on any hazard lights. The power goes completely out, and I am unable to put the car in neutral or anything to be safe. I have reported this issue in the past. The dealership is unable to figure out what is wrong and I keep trying to get this resolved before it turns out tragically. Please help me before I loss my life in this vehicle.
I am the owner of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe which is currently subject to two urgent safety recalls: recall 68c (NHTSA 25v-741) regarding a high-voltage battery fire risk, and recall 95b (NHTSA 25v-766) regarding engine sand contamination. On March 13, 2026, I attempted to have these recalls addressed at an authorized dealership (brooksville Jeep). I reported two specific safety symptoms: abnormal loud engine noise during acceleration and shifting, which is a documented warning sign of catastrophic engine failure under recall 95b. Significant electric range depletion (a 10% drop from 32 miles to 29 miles), indicating potential battery cell instability under recall 68c. Despite these reported safety symptoms and the official "park outside / do not charge" advisory, the dealership and the manufacturer's recall department refused to provide a loaner or rental vehicle. They instead placed me on a "waitlist" and instructed me to continue driving the vehicle. By refusing to provide a safe, non-defective loaner vehicle while remedies are "under development," the manufacturer is forcing me to operate a vehicle that is a documented fire and stalling hazard. This puts my safety, the safety of my passengers, and my property at risk of a thermal event or a sudden loss of propulsion on public roads.
This vehicle has experienced repeated mechanical and electronic failures since delivery, including hybrid drivetrain faults, heating system malfunctions, and multiple diagnostic repair attempts. The vehicle is also subject to active safety recall 78c, which identifies a manufacturing defect that may cause catastrophic engine failure and vehicle fire risk. The manufacturer has acknowledged that a repair remedy is currently unavailable. The dealership that sold and serviced the vehicle has also recently ceased operations following acquisition by carvana. These conditions materially impair the vehicle’s safety, reliability, and usability.
The vehicle will shut down while in gear and driving at lower speeds. Happens at least 2-3 times per day for last 3 weeks.
I am submitting a complaint regarding NHTSA recall 25v-766 affecting my Jeep 4xe vehicle. This recall states that engines may have been contaminated with sand during manufacturing, which can lead to catastrophic engine failure, sudden loss of propulsion, or vehicle fire. My vehicle currently shows the recall as open with the status “remedy not yet available / parts unavailable. ” this means there is no repair available to address a known safety defect involving potential loss of propulsion and fire risk. I am concerned that sudden engine failure or loss of propulsion at highway speeds could create a significant crash risk for my vehicle, my passengers, and other motorists. Operating a vehicle with a known defect that could cause sudden engine failure while driving presents a potential crash hazard to occupants and other motorists. Owners are being asked to continue driving these vehicles despite the manufacturer acknowledging the defect and not yet providing a remedy. I respectfully request that NHTSA review the handling and timing of this recall to ensure a timely repair solution is provided to affected.
