High voltage battery (hybrid battery) has excessive drain when parked. This was noticed after completing the 68c recall. In any temperature it drains 8-12% over 12 hours. I noticed it happening when it was 65-75 degrees, so not hot and not cold. I brought it in for a repair once, it spent 3 weeks at the dealership and was claimed fixed but it's still doing it. It is known problem on the forums as well after the 68c recall. No warning lights.

Issue 1: after several recalls - the battery issue still remains. Often not kicking in and leaving a power deficit (loss of motive power). The gap is short, but when low speed on battery and you push the accellerator to merge/turn, etc. And there is a delay - it can cause an accident. Issue 2: the investigation of alerts of pedestrians - happens intermittently. There has never been a fix. Issue 3: the tire pressure monitoring system fails to read intermittently - a warning on the dash indicates it is not working and to get it checked. Dealership has noted problem, but never fixed. Still occurs 3+ years. Issue 4: radio/infotainment system blanks out or becomes unresponsive. When relying on this device for navigation, that becomes a problem.

I am [xxx] , lessee of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 4xe, VIN [xxx] . This vehicle is subject to three open safety recalls, including fca recall no. 78c (NHTSA 25v-766), which states the engine may be contaminated with sand from the casting process, leading to catastrophic engine failure, vehicle fire, or sudden unrecoverable loss of propulsion. Stellantis has confirmed there is no available repair and no parts — the recall status reads "parts unavailable" and "incomplete. " I am a father of three young children. My wife and I use this vehicle daily, including to transport our kids to school. Every day we face the impossible choice of putting our children in a vehicle the manufacturer itself says could catch fire or lose all power without warning. I reported this to the dealer, westbury Jeep, on February 10, 2026. They acknowledged the danger but said that replacement vechicles can only be provided by the lessor, stallantis. I then wrote to stellantis's executive team. The only response came from [xxx] , customer care & experience executive referrals manager [xxx] , [xxx] ), who offered to cover two lease payments and a gas card. She asked me to send my lease information so stellantis financial services could follow up. I sent it. Stellantis financial never responded — not a call, not an email, nothing. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate stellantis's post-recall conduct and contact [xxx] regarding my case (xxx xxx). Despite acknowledging a life-threatening defect with no fix, stellantis continues to collect $590 per month in lease payments while leaving my family in danger. I need a safe replacement vehicle immediately and a full refund of all payments made on this unsafe vehicle. Stellantis's response has been wholly inadequate. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

While driving, engine immediately shuts off. Dash, radio, lights, etc. All function as normal. Dash cluster shows an error message, saying to shift into park. After parking vehicle on shoulder, engine turns over but does not restart after several attempts. After awhile, engine finally restarts. No error codes or messages are displayed. Scanning with an obd device shows no stored or pending error codes. Vehicle now operates normally. This has happened twice in the span of two weeks, and never previously.

Heavy vibration of entire vehicle when in reverse. Occasional lack of power when accelerating. Issues with the transmission occasionally failing to shift gears.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly jolted, lost power, and went into limp mode, almost causing a rear-end crash. The message "service electronic throttle control" was displayed. The vehicle was pulled over to the shoulder and inspected, but no cause was immediately determined. The vehicle was driven to the residence in limp mode. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where codes associated with the crankshaft position sensor and intake manifold runner were retrieved, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 20v475000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 256,000.

On February 28, 2026, while preparing to leave our home with our two children in the vehicle, we experienced a critical vehicle malfunction. Upon attempting to start the car, all dashboard warning lights illuminated, including transmission error, “service needed,” and “automatic emergency braking system needs service. ” the battery warning light was also on. The vehicle would not start initially. After eventually starting the car, we temporarily placed it in neutral and pushed it out of the garage, during which the brakes functioned normally. The vehicle was briefly driven and appeared operational, but due to ongoing safety concerns and multiple recalls, we parked it at the top of our driveway. On the following day, the vehicle would not start again. We arranged for it to be towed to the dealership. On March 2, 2026, when the tow truck arrived, the car’s position prevented loading onto the truck. Multiple jump-start attempts failed initially, then briefly started the vehicle, but it immediately shut off again. We placed the vehicle in neutral using the manual override and tested the brakes, which initially showed stiffness but were operational. While attempting to move the vehicle to allow tow truck access, the brakes suddenly failed. Despite pressing the brake pedal fully and brake lights being illuminated, the vehicle did not stop and rolled uncontrollably into our garage. Consequences: •garage property damage: approximately $11,000 •personal injury: my father-in-law fell while the vehicle rolled out of control •vehicle remains at dealership with an open case, but the situation remains unresolved safety concern: this incident raises serious safety concerns regarding the reliability of the braking system and vehicle electronics. The vehicle became uncontrollable while brakes were applied, posing a direct risk of injury or death to occupants and others. We fear that similar failures could occur under normal driving conditions, including highway speeds.
While driving at highway speeds, with no warning, my vehicle shuts off forcing me to perform and emergency exits. In these situations, I have observed the dashboard screen directly in front of me read: vehicle not in park.

The above checked and visibility wiper and auto emergency braking lights come on occasionally for no reason while driving the touchscreen can get very hot and go blank at times the electric battery is not able to be utilized in cold or hot outdoor temperatures the heating system on highest temp occasionally blows cool air -not warm/hot the engine light came on last week and the electrical power system will not engage even with full charge.
Nothing has malfunctioned yet, but this recall has been outstanding since November, 2025, and today is the last day of February, 2026. No remedy is available and its been four months.
1. The issue involved the engine and emissions system, specifically a cylinder 3 misfire, accompanied by illumination of the check engine light and white smoke emitted from the exhaust. The vehicle was evaluated by an authorized Jeep dealership, which confirmed the cylinder misfire through diagnostic testing. At that time, per the diagnosis, coil 3 and all spark plugs were exchanged. This did not solve the issue. When picking up the car, check engine light was still illuminated and white smoke emitted from the exhaust. The affected components are in possession of the dealership, unsure if available upon request. 2. The engine misfire and associated white exhaust smoke created a risk of engine performance degradation, including potential loss of power, observed hesitation and stalling, which could impact the ability to safely operate the vehicle in traffic. Additionally, white smoke from the exhaust can impair visibility for surrounding drivers and may indicate an underlying engine condition that could worsen without warning, increasing the risk to the driver and others sharing the roadway. The chemical smell could also nauseate the person operating their vehicle, impeding their awareness and concentration. 3. This issue was proposed by an authorized Jeep dealership, then confirmed by two other mechanics. Dealer diagnostic records document the cylinder 3 misfire and investigation related to the check engine light and exhaust condition. 4. No inspection from manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. 5. Yes, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle exhibited white smoke from the exhaust which prompted the service visit. Auto-start was not functioning as normal, with an error displayed on screen. Engine would sometimes stall upon start up during cold temperature days. Note: vehicle is currently with another mechanic awaiting an engine replacement, will upload that invoice once available.
My 2024 grand Jeep cherokee 4xe was purchased brand new in 2025. Since then it was been in the shop on numerous occasions. Recalls with no remedies. The car lost power on the interstate with my child in the car. This is going to cause death or serious injury. This car needs to be purchased back by Jeep. I am paying on a loan for an undriveable car at no fault of my own. I was told by the car salesman that this vehicle was in great condition. They knew the issues when selling me the car late last year.

National highway traffic safety administration vehicle safety complaint complainant: [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] vehicle: 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee ------------------------------------- safety defect complaint – post-repair vehicle condition I am reporting a serious safety concern involving my vehicle following collision repairs performed by gerber collision & glass under a claim handled by state farm insurance. After the repair, the vehicle began exhibiting multiple safety-related issues, including: - steering instability and shaking - engine performance issues and abnormal noise - hvac malfunction - persistent chemical and/or coolant odors - physical symptoms while driving, including dizziness, lightheadedness, and shortness of breath I returned to the repair facility with photographic evidence showing parts with visible wear and damage that appear inconsistent with proper replacement. Despite this, no diagnostic evaluation was performed, and no corrective action was taken. The repair facility has refused to address the condition of these parts, and the insurer has refused to authorize further inspection. Additionally, there are discrepancies between the insurance estimate and the final repair invoice, raising concerns about whether the documented work matches what was actually performed, including work involving structural components such as the cradle/subframe. I believe this vehicle may be unsafe to operate and that the repair may have introduced or failed to correct conditions that pose a risk to driver safety. I request that this matter be reviewed as a potential safety defect related to post-collision repair. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. I have a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I purchased July 19, 2024. I started having operational problems with the vehicle within two months. The car was in and out of the dealership five times through Nov. 2025. Each time the problem was verified by the service department and documented as such, including an incident of the engine shutting down when entering the expressway. I filed a lemon law claim September 2025, and settled December 2025. However, no reimbursement has been received. On Feb. 15, 2026, my car shut down completely as I was exiting a belt driven car wash, resulting in crashes of two vehicles in back of me. I had no control of shifting gears to move forward.
While driving 30mph in town, the vehicle shut off. The engine quit, lost power steering, dash message said, “press brake and push button to start. ” conditions were: in e-save mode, the gas engine was running, battery level was <1%. We came to a stop, pushed the start button, the vehicle started and drove normally. The passenger recorded most of this on video. We did complete the related recall last November.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed while slowing down; however, the rpm elevated to 5,500 rpm. The contact stated that excessive force was needed to depress the brake pedal. The vehicle was stopped, turned off, restarted, and operated normally. Additionally, the remote start feature was not operating properly. After remote starting the vehicle, the brake pedal was difficult to depress. The contact also stated that a phone call was ringing through the radio even though the phone was not in use. The contact researched online and believed that the vehicle had been hacked. The local dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be hacked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

I took my car to the dealer for the recalls. They are basically only putting a band aid on the issue. They are telling me they did both recalls but it didn't fix the issue. Klaben in kent ohio. They basically did just a flash on it but that didn't fix the issue (loss of crankshaft position). Everything I read said the reluctor wheel needs replaced and they are telling me the vehicle is too old and won't fix. This is all part of the recall. If you have any questions please call me. 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3. 6l. Severe misfiring on expressway causing vehicle to shake uncontrollably and stall. “pentastar tick” ticking sound coming from engine. Took to local repair shop and right cam shaft is worn down causing misfiring and engine damage. Cost is $4,000 for the camshaft replacement and will likely need a new engine. Vehicle has less than 109,000 miles on it. Known issue on this vehicle, I called multiple shops and they all said that the can shaft is probably bad because they see the issue all the time.
On multiple occasions, the transmission does not respond to gear changes such as moving from drive to reverse or park into drive. On those occasions, the d for drive would be blinking. More concerning and very dangerous is a lack of propulsion mid drive, the transmission would not go into gear. The engine would rev high, and it would not move forward, except by whatever momentum it originally had. This has happened to me on at least four occasions two of which I was in the left lane of three and four lane wide streets with cars passing me at high speed on the right. I needed to pull over turn the car off and then on again, which is the only way that the transmission would start working again. Sometimes the transmission would be jerky, especially after those incidents. Crossing three and four lanes while people are going 50 and 60 miles an hour is a very dangerous situation when you have no power. The car is a new car. I have had it for only two months and it has been doing this intermittently the entire time. This has been at the dealer for service two times so far and has not been able to be replicated, however, I do have one incident on video. There were no warning lamps messages, and there are no error codes that are found by the dealer.

I was rolling up to a red light. The Jeep shut down on a main road. The battery light, abs, and power saver mode went on. The power steering shut off and then the car shut off. I was unable to move the vehicle. I wait 5 minutes then started the car again and got it rolled into the nearest parking lot.
The current recall is unable to happen as it has to be over 50 degrees. This is the second major recall in under one year. I have had issues with the radio, apple car play, the engine dying while in park and idling. Additionally, the vehicle suddenly lost power while driving it at 65 mph on a major highway when trying to pass. The only answers I get is the lemon law. This vehicle is not safe, the dealer has only offered for me to trade out of it into something extremely higher of payment. I am requesting a dealer buyback due to major safety concerns. This vehicle should not even be on the market. The acceleration issues continue and I am done!.
Waited for of a month from the time I called for service for Jeep to address recall high-voltage battery fire risk NHTSA campaign: 25v741 / manufacturer recall 68c upon leaving the service department at salerno & duane Jeep the issue was unresolved. Service tech was expecting the customer to pay for an added oil change due to the recall which should be the responiblity of Jeep.
Vehicle head gasket blown. Stated by mechanic that this is a chronic problem with model due to cylinder head warming and gasket failure. Shortly after repaired the left rear factory oem rocker arm broke and damaged one of the overhead cams. Again stated by mechanic that this is a common problem due to known oiling problems with this model. Repaired once again. Vehicle drove less than 500 miles before complete engine failure. Also stated by mechanic as well as multiple online forums that Jeep stoped recalls for these problems because they had become to widespread. They were only willing to repair if the vehicle was still within factory warranty.

On February 3, Tuesday drove home from work. The battery light came on. I drove to autozone and they placed it on diagnostic reader. The diagnostic reader said that the battery had no charge. They told me I need a new battery. I replaced the battery. The next morning, I placed the Jeep into auto start. So the Jeep can warm up. When I went outside, there was smoke coming from underneath the hood of the Jeep. I quickly turn off the Jeep and pop the hood. My husband open the hood and can see smoke coming from the alternator. He turned around to turn off his vehicle that was running. I started to video recording the incident and stopped it right away when I started to see flames coming out of the alternator. My husband and I quick action was to grab snow that was next to the Jeep to throw it onto the alternator to put the fire out. It took multiple piles of snow that the husband went and grabbed the fire extinguisher and sprayed the alternator to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was extinguished. We kept an eye out to make sure everything was good. We left the hood up to cool things down. We called morgan towing to have the Jeep towed to their location to look at the situation. Morgan towing picked the Jeep up on February 4 Wednesday. They replaced the serpentine belt and the alternator. They called us to let us know the Jeep was done. Picked up the Jeep today, February 5 Thursday. I drove it literally down the street and I can smell strong odor of smoke along with the battery light came back on. I turned back around and brought it back to morgan towing. I called my auto insurance and waiting to hear back from them. I am going to call the Dodge Jeep dealership and see what they have to say if if there’s was any recall on the Jeep. Upon my research so far, I didn’t see no recall but again I’m gonna call the dealership.

Recall 68c I can’t drive my vehicle while the dealership awaits a replacement battery from manufacturer. I have not been offered any compensation from Jeep.
Issue with camshaft. Dealership said there has been an influx of vehicles with the same engine and the same issues.
Vehicle began displaying check engine light. Diagnostic code p219b (bank 2 air-fuel ratio imbalance) was identified. Vehicle was serviced and a valve-related repair was performed. Shortly after, engine performance worsened and further inspection revealed metal shavings in engine oil and confirmed internal lifter/valvetrain failure. Oil levels were normal and maintenance records are available. No warning of low oil pressure or overheating occurred prior to failure. Independent service center and inspector confirmed internal mechanical failure. Engine failure created risk of sudden loss of power while driving. This appears consistent with documented pentastar 3. 6l valvetrain/lifter issues reported by other owners. Concern is potential for sudden engine malfunction and safety risk due to power loss.
This complaint is being filed as an update to prior NHTSA complaints regarding the same vehicle and recall 78c. The issues described below remain unresolved. My vehicle is subject to recall 78c, which warns of a defect that may result in catastrophic engine failure due to an engine block casting issue. The recall was issued approximately 90 days ago, and the status remains listed as “remedy under development,” with no repair available and no timeline provided. Since the recall was issued, I have contacted stellantis three separate times in writing requesting: confirmation whether the vehicle is considered safe to operate while the recall remains open, and transportation accommodation while no remedy exists. None of these emails have received a response. I also contacted two authorized Jeep dealerships seeking transportation assistance. Both initially stated they do not provide loaner vehicles and are not required to follow corporate directives. Both later stated loaner vehicles do exist but were unavailable and subject to a waitlist; however, neither dealership took my information or placed me on a waitlist, nor provided any follow-up. No meaningful transportation accommodation has been provided. I have been advised only that rental reimbursement may be available, which does not prevent continued operation of the vehicle. As a result, I am being forced to continue driving a vehicle under an active safety recall that explicitly warns of possible catastrophic engine failure, without a remedy, without a timeline, and without alternative transportation. This complaint is submitted to document the prolonged lack of a remedy, manufacturer non-response to repeated safety inquiries, failure to provide interim accommodation, and continued requirement that I operate the recalled vehicle.
5. 7l hemi engine fire. The primary cause was a wire harness retention clip failure that allows the starter wiring harness to lay on the steering column. As it turns, it cuts into the harness and provides battery voltage to the steering column. In my case, there was a power steering fluid leak combined with the electrified steering assembly started a fire. Any similar combustible fluid would have the same result. It may be a potential recall that should be investigated. VIN 8c244809. Incident occurred on 1-28-26. I have video footage of the issue if needed.

The vehicle has experienced repeated electrical failures. On multiple occasions the vehicle would not start and lost all electrical power. The main electrical system appears to fail suddenly, causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The vehicle has been to the dealership multiple times for the same issue and was out of service for extended periods. This is a serious safety concern because the vehicle can completely shut down without warning.
