Discovered oil leak in my garage. Dealer checked and discover both radiator leak and power steering leak. No warning indicators were illuminated. Deal requested to have it replaced because it's dangerous drive. Jeep has less than 58500 miles on it.
When getting my oil changed the mechanic told me that I had an antifreeze leak. He could smell it and saw fluid around the radiator. Also that I may need a new radiator and should have the dealership check it out. I brought my 2 year old 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee to the dealership and was told I did indeed need a new radiator. The car was bought new by me and has 45000 miles on it. I asked the mechanic if this was common? was there any indication of getting hit by a rock etc? I was told that it was a manufacturers' defect. That the radiator was leaking at the seams and needed to be replaced. I brought it to a second mechanic at a local auto body shop and he confirmed that it was a manufacturer's defect and the radiator needed replacing. I think this is more common than it should be for a new vehicle with low mileage. Both mechanics at the dealership and the autobody shop said they had replaced several of these recently. In fact it has been enough of a problem that they are keeping extra radiators in stock. I believe Jeep should recall these radiators and pay for the cost of replacing mine.
My 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 85,820 miles & the radiator was found leaking when brought in for a engine code indicating the thermostat was bad. The thermostat was replaced ($130. 00 part) and then the Chrysler dealer told me the radiator needed to be replaced. My dealer mentioned this has been more common with Jeeps and they now keep the radiator in stock. It cost just under an additional $900. 00 to have the radiator replaced. If so many Jeep's are having the same issue why has a recall not been issued. I have never had a radiator fail in any of my vehicles so soon. Is this not justification for a recall? I would think owners should be notified (ahead of time) of this potential failure if indeed it is this common an occurrence.
My 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 70,000 & the radiator is leaking. My dealer & local mechanic told me the radiator needed to be replaced. My dealer told me that they have had so many Jeep's in with the same radiator issues that they now keep the radiator in stock. It is going to cost $1100 to have the radiator replaced. If so many Jeep's are having the same issue why has a recall not been issued. I have never had a radiator fail in any of my vehicles before 100,000. Jeep should at least cover part of the cost.
"takata recall" to be truthfully honest nothing about this Jeep is safe I didn't know that I could put in a recall for this Jeep because I thought it was too old and too late anyway sensors are horrible no turning signals , my belt assembly breaks a part while driving radiator gets really hot to the point of smoking even when my coolant is full I have sun roof problems because water leaks through it and floods the driver and passenger side trunk will not open my suspension is in great need of help it doesn't even bounce , alot of safety problems but like I said didn't know I could for file for a recall so I'm hoping that this can get recalled.

Transmission coolant line is leaking it's been worked on several times. The motor has air in the coolant system after replacement of radiator. The power steering line was replaced. The back wiper motor does not work. Something inew the dash makes a moving sound after the engine is shut off on passenger side. I had brake lines fixed. The vehicle looses oil on the road due to the line leaking. The back wiper not working makes it hard to see out the back window.

In route to open gym for my 3yr old, after exiting exprsway in traffic approx 5-7mins, SUV shuts off. After it shut off it would nt start for approx 4 mins, it did not fully crank yet cranked, in a putting pattern, I was able to pull it out of traffic into an office park located at 3525 piedmont rd ne atl, GA 30308 in front of building 7 entering from piedmont rd. Once parked, my temp gauge was on hot panned hard right, the SUV would not start, I allowed it to cool down to halfway, during that time I made 4 attempts to start the SUV. Each time it would putter, or sound as if it was out of gas. Once SUV cooled to half I attempted to start and it started in the same putter fashion as before, yet appearing to catch as if it was start normal, all the while smoking out the back a slight pop could be heard coming from underneath the front of the vehicle, yet as it appeared to start I would give it gas with hopes that it would catch and then it just shut off and started smoking and there was a noticeably different odor that my 3 yr old and I smelled, from there I got out of the truck to see if the smoke was coming from the radiator, since the temp gauge was just on hot, I notice there was a fire burning in the lower back of the engine region, I immediately lowered the hood due to not having anything to prop it open with, I immediately got my 3 yr old son out of the vehicle to safety, I return to get his car seat and anything to hopefully salvage, I then return to the SUV to put out the fire out as best I could, I appeared to out on both sides and just smoking badly. Called a ride to take me and my 3yr old home. The following day I checked the SUV, the engine area, hood, front windshield had completely burned, there is no hood area, the hood is in the windshield, and everything else forward chard and melted, to the yellow pieces, I was able to take photos, and a video.

The contact was able to maneuver to the emergency lane and shut off the vehicle. The contact was able to restart the engine, but the failure recurred. In addition, smoke appeared from the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator fractured and the engine failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 190,000.
The water pump and radiator have gone bad, also the driving lights and the fog lights keep burning out. There seems to be a mechanical problem. This has cost me approx. $2000. 00 in repair cost. I have noticed on the road other vehicles like mine that have there lights burned out. Also my repair shop informed me that he sees quit a few cracked radiators.

While driving on the highway at a slow rate of speed (5 mph) due to a traffic jam, my vehicle overheated. Once towed off the highway, the mechanic diagnosed a fan failure for the radiator which caused the vehicle to overheat. Subsequently there may be damage to the engine caused by the fan failure. I researched this and discovered a recall issued (8/2006) by daimler Chrysler for the electric radiator fan (safety recall f25). I called Chrysler today (case #24570292) and they said that this recall does not apply to my vehicle even though the recall clearly states it applies to vehicles with the "s" in the 8th position which it is. Please advise on next steps. Thank you.

I was driving on university approaching the stop light on 66th st in lubbock TX, as slowing down from approximately 35 mph, I heard an overwhelming loud bang come from the front of the Jeep, it shook the entire vehicle it felt like I had hit someones car. I was getting leaving lubbock headed home to plainview. Me and my daughter stopped at walmart where I left my vehicle idling for no more than three to ten minutes max. I came out from walmart and smoke was coming from my car. Antifreeze was spilt out everywhere and the person parked next me that my car had overheated and to let it cool down before driving it again. I came back to lubbock yesterday with my daughter and I almost stalled on the highway but was able to make into the walmart parking lot. A friend pointed out the radiator fan was all busted up. The Jeep will not start and is in the parking lot at the walmart on Ave. Q in lubbock. Trying to figure out why it will not start up I believe it could be the radiator relay.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While parked, the contact noticed a leak around the radiator and determined that the radiator was cracked. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic advised the contact that the ignition needed to be cleaned and the radiator would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 224,000 and the current mileage was 300,000.
The contact owns a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the fan relay module failed and caused the radiator to stop and the vehicle to overheat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that he fan relay module had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 128,970 and the failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated the fan relay module failed on the vehicle. When the part failed it caused the fan for the radiator stop working and the vehicle would over heat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed the fan relay module failed and it was defective. The contact stated the failure was a manufacturers defect. The current mileage on the vehicle was 129,682.
Driving down the street when white steam like smoke comes from under the hood. The smoke becomes dense and there is a smell of hot transmission fluid. The vehicle begins to power off and upon exiting the vehicle there is a strong smell of transmission fluid and a large pool of fluid discharged under the vehicle. The car was towed and returned to the dealership. The dealers technician reported, "technician performed visual inspections and clean off of fluid found the transmission cooler lines at the radiator had disconnected due to not be improper connection issues reinstalled both transmission cooler lines and clamped lines, tested pressure on both lines. Filled system and test drove and cleaned (due to massive spray from lines coming loose), pulled vehicle back into shop and rechecked fluid level and cleaned area (repeated this process several times to bring fluid level to proper level) finish cleaning engine area and verified. Parts:6 fluid-atf +4". My issue is that I had just exited a high speed, 65mph, highway and if this failure had happened on something less then a slow secondary road with no traffic, there could have been a significant accident or potential injury.
I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with safety recall #f25 (electric fan). On October 20, 2010, I went to the auto repair shop due to a coolant leakage. The repair shop inspected the vehicle and noticed the leak was caused by a damaged radiator due to the electric fan breaking into pieces and causing the leakage. I paid them $259. 00 for the new radiator. I was informed of the safety recall and I decided to go to the riverdale
Chrysler Jeep located at 5869 broadway bronx NY 10463. After a general inspection they noticed the shroud was also damaged and refused to repair/replace stating that it was not covered. I am requesting full coverage of all related parts and labor as this was caused by the fan failure. I am further requesting a reimbursement for the cost of the new installed radiator and I can furnish a receipt as proof. The car overheated and you can hear the boiled coolant flushing back into the reservoir and pouring out through the drain. This I found out was caused due to the malfunctioning or rather electrical shorting of the ecm (engine control module) located in the hood near the firewall behind the coolant reservoir. This causes a failure in the electrical system so the fan that is supposed to kick on when you turn on the air fails to start. I also recently replaced my inline-6 due to a crack in the engine block causing the coolant to flow and mix with the oil therefore, resulting in low levels or coolant in the reserve and the radiator. It also causes the oil level to increase drastically.
My Jeep only have 68,000 mile, now all my light are on because of this fan recall. I belive it over heated and has caused this to happin, I live 5-min from my job. I only go from home and back to work ,I need it fixed. Just repairing fan does not resolved other problems. Thank you year 2000 yc319900 electric radiator fan cause car to stop runing. But will start back up.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 5 mph, part of the radiator fan fell off of the vehicle. On another occasion the remainder of the fan fell off of the vehicle. Both failures occurred approximately one week ago without warning. There was a very loud popping sound and she observed that a piece of the plastic fan was on the ground. The dealer also confirmed that the VIN is a part of a recall. The current and failure mileages were 95,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle vibrated for several seconds after it had been shut off. When the vehicle was restarted, he heard a loud explosion. The contact exited the vehicle, lifted the hood, and noticed that the fan was destroyed. Pieces of the fan were lodged into the radiator. Aaa towed the vehicle to his residence. On June 23, 2008, the manufacturer stated that they would repair the fan, but the contact would have to pay for the radiator repair. The failure and current mileages were 78,000.
The contact owns a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle stalls while idling or driving 25 mph. The fuel pump, alternator, radiator, map sensor, spark plugs, and exhaust were replaced, but the failure has not been resolved. The contact feels that the vehicle is unsafe to drive because the failures occur without warning. The VIN was unknown. The current mileage was 120,000 and failure mileage was 115,000.

I had a mysterious coolant leak from my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I had the water pump checked and it was fine. I had to add coolant and water to my Jeep everytime I went somewhere so it did not over-heat. I went to work and my Jeep was starting to over-heat. After my 8 hour shift I put in 2 gallons of water into the radiator. It seemed fine until I got about a mile from my apartment when my Jeep just stalled out. I had to get it towed back to my apartment. I had a mechanic come over and he thought I just blew a head gasket. As he went to replace it, he realized that my engine had blown up because of this problem. I do not have the money to fix this problem, also I still owe 7000 on it.
