10 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/06/2020

Wednesday, August 5 2020, was driving about 3 miles from my house when I noticed message on dashboard "place car in park to start car". Thought it was odd because I was driving. I then noticed car was off so placed in park (on the road btw) and started it up again. No more issues that day. Next morning, August 6th, car shut down again in nearly the same location. This time traffic was much busier and I was in right lane with cars behind me traveling 45-50 mph and to the right was a merge lane with multiple cars coming over. . . Car slowly glided into the merge lane as everyone became aware I was in distress and allowed me to move over. Car would not restart and was actually locked in park, so I was unable to move car from traffic lanes. Called police and tow truck who brought it to a Jeep dealership. It was a very dangerous situation to be in during early morning commute time. Now its Saturday and I have no communication as to what the problem may be, so I searched some internet and learned this has been going on for awhile with Jeeps. I was provided a loaner car by the dealership.

We then turned the car off and and waited for a tow. The car then started and was able to be drove for several miles. Later in the day the car again would not start or able to be opened. The car was towed and the dealership stated the shifter was faulty. They have now replaced the shifter twice. The first time the shifter was replaced the mechanic brought it to me and they were unable to get it out of drive at the dealership. They immediately took it back to repair it again. They replaced the shifter again. I drove the car home and then started the car with the remote start, got in the care and received the message that the shifter needed to be serviced. 16 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/03/2020

Vehicle would not start. Vehicle was towed to dealership and fuel pump relay was identified as the cause of the problem, recall exists and the fuel pump relay was replaced. However, fuel pump relay caused the battery to drain also necessitating replacement. Fca/mopar only authorized reimbursement of the fuel pump relay and not for the battery even though it was directly related and the dealership technician stated the same. Spoke with multiple reps from fca who could not provide any assistance. An oil change and systems diagnostic test was performed on the vehicle just before the fuel pump failure and no issues with the battery were identified. I was told the battery could not be replaced because I tried to start the vehicle. . . Which seems incredulous to me as that is what most people do when they leave for work. How was I supposed to know the fuel pump relay needed to be replaced unless I tried to start the vehicle and it wouldn't turn over?.

19 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/08/2020

Began having issue with vehicle not starting on first push of "start" button, and vehicle starting then stalling. Received recall notice 19v-813 which describes this same issue. Called local dealer (royal Chrysler motors, owego, NY 13827) and asked if there was an interim solution because the recall notice says the remedy is not yet available. The dealer said they were aware of the recall, but no interim solution is available. Asked what would happen if my car would not start or quit and would not restart. The dealer did not have any suggestions. The recall notice says I could be reimbursed if I paid to have this specific issue repaired. It is a contradiction to say no remedy is available, but if I have applied a remedy it would be reimbursed. I am afraid of having the vehicle stall while driving and causing a crash. Please help get this resolved.

Failure Date: 09/08/2019

One day when leaving a barbershop my wife tried to start our Jeep and it would not crank. It would turn over, start for a second then turn off. After sitting for a while longer it started up and drove fine. This past Sunday we were leaving a gas station to get on the interstate and in the middle of an intersection it shut off. All acceleration stopped and the Jeep went into park and left us stuck in the middle of the intersection. Once we used the manual park release and got out of the intersection we let it sit for a little bit. My wife got in the driver seat and it started right up. We then drove it to an auto parts store and had the check engine light diagnosed as the neutral safety switch. I spoke with a local dealership and was told that that is not a part listed in their parts catalog. This vehicle shut off and my pregnant wife could have been t-boned in the blink of an eye.

35 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

The fuel pump relay is defective. This has already been recalled but the patch "fix" Jeep does does not solve the problem completely and they know this. There is an issue with the computer which does not send correct signal to fuel pump. On start car will not start often because it is not receiving any fuel. I am afraid this cheap "fix" Jeep came up with will cause the fuel to go out while driving. The biggest defect with the car is the v-8 hemi cam shaft and lifters. Every mechanic I have taken my car too has said that Jeep knows it is a problem but will not fix. I was driving 70 mph when my Jeep lost power and the check engine light came on and started flashing which with the loss of power cause me to just about have a wreck on the highway. It was a very scary scenario. I took it to my trusted mechanic who foudn a cylinder 2 misfire & performed a tune up and he said I needed to report the problem to Jeep as they are known to have sever problems. The dealer charged me to "diganose" the problem and reported back that the lifters and cam shaft need to be replaced. This has been such a bad problem for Jeep the lifters have been on back order multiple times but they will not admit it is a problem. My car has less than 100,000 miles and has been meticulously maintained and now lookin g at rebuilding an engine and Jeep will only provide 2 year warranty or the work, which shows they have no trust in the fix and there is a fatal flaw with the v-8 hemi. Please force Jeep to honor their customers and correct the known mistakes with their engines.
