The vehicle would not start. It has a push button ignition switch start. It locked up and it could not be towed because the tow truck driver could not get it in natural to move it. I was stranded for 12 hours with nothing to eat or drink before I got help. All electrical systems shut down and I was alone in a very bad area at the time. Unless the vehicle started it would do nothing and could not be towed. Jeep needs a recall on this very unsafe system. They should be made put in an override switch or be able to start the vehicle with a key. I am 76 years old and I was going to start on a 500 mile trip that day. Very good thing it happen when it did. The vehicle would have been dead along the road with no help. All push button starts need a backup to get out of this safety hazard. I unlocked the door get in and pushed the start button and nothing. All kind of lights lit up on the instrument panel and displayed a lot of things that would not work. The transmission would not go in or out of gear.

Fuel pump relay failed after being replaced by recall. Occasionally the car would not start. Most recently the car stalled on me while in traffic. 46 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/13/2018

Electrical system malfunctioned while driving on a city street, dashboard lit up and the vehicle would not switch gears. Wipers started going and message popped up on the screen to not turn the vehicle off because it may not restart. When the vehicle was turned off it would not restart and it was stuck in the run position. Vehicle was towed to the dealership, they stated the vehicle over fifty codes and they did not know what was wrong with it. The dealership had the vehicle for well over a month and had to reach out the Chrysler for additional assistance. Eventually the dealership stated a sensor had become loose and that had caused all the problems. I received the vehicle back and within a week I was having problems again. While stopped at a traffic light a message popped up that the shifter was malfunctioning, this message came and went multiple times. A few days later the vehicle would not start, I had the vehicle towed to the dealership. They stated they could not replicate the problem and I received the vehicle back the next day. The following day while driving from work the dashboard lit up again and the same initial issue happened all over again. The vehicle was towed to the dealership again, once again they have no idea what has happened. They have been in possession of my vehicle for another month with no solution. Chrysler has informed the dealership to perform a pin drag test, this test supposedly involves checking every wire and code on the vehicle one at a time. As of todays date I still have not received my vehicle back.

Failure Date: 04/04/2018

Vehicle does not reliably start when the brake and engine button are pushed. The dashboard lights up, but there is no message and vehicle fails to start. I often have to try 3-4 times to get the vehicle to start, ultimately having the key at the push start button. Key fob batteries have been replaced several times, star case was opened, and win module replaced. Vehicle has been in for service many times for this issue, which remains. Chrysler case management is well aware of the issue. The only "possible" connection found is an incompatibility with cup led lighting and key fob technology. In addition to being frustrating, it is a safety issue.

53 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

While driving at highway speed on a 2-lane road, our Jeep Grand Cherokee ecodiesel began to lose power. The lights on the instrument cluster began going off seemingly randomly, and the vehicle had to be quickly pulled over and put in a safe condition on the side of the road as the engine stalled. The engine would not restart. After 2 months of troubleshooting with Chrysler engineering, our shop believes they have found the issue, which is a faulty tone wheel in the drivetrain, at where the engine couples to the transmission. The tone wheel lost about 1/4" of encoded magnetic material, and this made the vehicle inoperable, even while at highway speed. This failure threw no codes to the computer for the technician to interpret, and the only symptom is that the engine would not fire, even though, as a diesel, there is no spark ignition system.

2/9/16 I remote started the Jeep for about 3 minutes while I gathered my stuff up to leave. I drove the car approximately 4 miles. At the stop light I noticed my steering wheel was locked. I put my hazards on, put the car in park and started it up again. The car started just fine. 2/13/16 I drove for about 3 miles and as I was going downhill and I was slowing down to turn right the car stalled. If there was not a concrete curb in the turn lane I would have hit the cars sitting at the stop light. I had no breaks and the curb stopped my car. 8/20/16 I get in the car get on the freeway which is ¼ mile from our house. We drive approximately 6 miles (speed limit 70 mph) as I take an exit ramp and my car stalls right before I hit the stop light. My car has never shown an code and no one dealership knows what to do.
