Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph when suddenly the dashboard illuminated. The vehicle's warning lights indicating that they needed to reset fuel system, the airbag deployed, the parking system needed to be reset and the horn would unintentionally sound off. The contact pulled over and placed the vehicle in park. The failure continued for an additional 3 to 4 minutes. The start button was stuck on run the contact had the vehicle towed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealership (Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram southampton 691 county road 39a, southampton, NY 11968; (631) 283-1600) who had not diagnoisined the vehicle as of yet. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000. Gl.

It started out with my key fob not unlocking my car. So I decided to unlock my car manually, doing so set off the alarm and had the lights blinking and horn going off. So I then decided to order a new fob with a new battery (even though mine was new). That didn't work, so I decided to call someone to come program my fob, thinking that was the issue. So they did. It worked for about 2 weeks. Then the fob didn't unlock my car, brand new fob, brand new battery. Back to square 1, unlocking it manually dealing with the horn issue. Then, 1 day got in my car, started it and pulled in the windshield wipers, the horn went off and would not stop even after shutting off the car. It continued to be an issue and the problem couldn't be resolved. So we pulled the fuse to my horn. Now I'm driving with no horn, a hazard. Issues continued, my car now not only will the alarm still go off with flashing lights now it's not starting, it's even acted up while driving with the engine having weird spasms and accelerating. Worried because I don't know what to expect with this vehicle. I have a brand new battery and even got it tested by mechanics and they said the battery was fine. My car has huge electrical issues and the airbags apparently don't work either. But I've pulled out fuses and it sometimes reboots the car and will start normal and work for maybe a few days before acting up again. Sometimes it won't even start and make a clicking sound as if it's the battery but then after many tries or sometimes a few it'll start. This has been going on for a bit now and has just gotten worse and more worrisome.
I was driving my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee down a city street when with out any warning the vehicle completely cut off. I could not control the vehicle at all not even honk the horn to let other driver know something is wrong with my vehicle. When I took it to get fixed the dealership said I need a new totally intergrated power module.

While driving at approximately 30 mph, the Jeep suddenly jolted and the engine stalled. I safely pulled to the side of the road, placed the vehicle in park and tried to restart the engine. It immediately started then stalled multiple times before all lights in the Jeep turning on and a message appeared on the dashboard stating that the vehicle was not in park. I double checked and the vehicle was indeed in park. The horn sounded multiple times and the back lift-gate opened on its own. The vehicle was towed to the dealership under extended warranty and it was found that the electric power steering system had shorted and caused the vehicle to be completely disabled electrically. The system was repaired by the dealership. This could have happened in a horrible location with traffic on the interstate and caused a serious accident. The repairs were covered under extended warranty but a power steering failure should not completely shut down a vehicle while driving.

Car's tipm has been messing up. They say there hasn't been a recall on my model for that and another says it has been fixed. My car won't start at times, my horn honks at random times and just today my car stalled while on the interstate. I know the tipm had been a problem with these vehicles but I cant get any help with mine without paying out of pocket. I've about had it with my Jeep.

This Jeep had the fuel pump recall done on it which was for the tipm relay built in fails causing these Jeeps and durangos to stall out. Well now the whole module is bad per the dealer. This failure is worst than the relay failure. The Jeep stalled out while being parked and would not start again also while not working sitting in my garage the Jeep tried to start on its own and lights and horn going off. Jeep was already sued over this and I have been reading forms with many other customers still having this issue and these modules should have been replaced not placing a bandaid on the relay while the whole module is garbage which is now costing me 1600 and we haven't been able to drive it for a month since she was scared to be left stranded or having the car stall while driving. Please bring this up with them I already emailed asking for help on this problem since they never addressed it the first time it was brought up.
Vehicle engine light came on - rear windshield wiper started even though switch was off, power steering failed and engine shutoff while driving on city street, horn beeping intermittently whether driving or not. Several messages displayed for about 2 seconds -ecm lost communication and other msgs I couldn't get because they only flashed on the screen. Keyfob battery low even though I just put in a new battery.

The car started out with intermittant locking and unlocking of doors, horn honking and side window unresponsiveness. It has graduated to daily intermittant ignition issues while stationary and stalling issues while stationary and in motion. I have been notified that it is a common problem with this make model and year with a bad tipm. I have also been norified that the recall has been denied and that the NHTSA doesnt think its dangerous for cars to randomly cut off and for airbags to randomly go off or not go off when needed. This isnt a common "wear and tear" issue and is dangerous, so I am disapointed in your findings.
While in motion and stationary the vehicle with have power surges through the electrical system. While stationary the tailgate will open on its own and the horn will randomly start blowing. While in motion and stationary the vehicle will blow headlamps and tail lamps. The wires in the head and tail lamps have caught on fire and have melted the wires. Yesterday the rear drivers side tail lamp caught on fire and burned the casing and wires. The vehicle will randomly stall and sometimes won't start.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact also stated that the horn did not work. The vehicle was towed to a used car lot for the first failure. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic, but the contact was unsure if the vehicle had been diagnosed. The contact did not speak to a Chrysler dealer regarding either failure. The contact was unsure if the used car lot from where the vehicle was purchased had contacted a dealer on her behalf. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of either failure. The approximate failure mileage was 198,000.

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland became possessed. While driving on the freeway, lights began flashing on dash, occasional lurches from transmission, one headlight goes out at night. When I pull over and turn the car off, it will not start. It was as though everything is dead. No response from any button on the key. After about 5 minutes, the headlights began flashing and horn bleating as though emergency. I pressed the "panic" button on the key fob and it stopped. Car now started. I drove a few miles then everything began going crazy again. When I stopped, with car still running, windshield wipers began working as though on intermittent. Then they began wiping fast. I tried turning the wipers on or off, to no avail. They were working with their own mind. Dangerous! I had no idea, while driving on the freeway, if both headlights would suddenly go out (it was night while I was driving) instead of just one, transmission damage may occur (what was causing the lurching?). When I pulled over.
First issue to occur was alarm system and horn started going off and locking and unlocking the car when exiting the vehicle in a parking lot. The next issue to occur was one of the courtesy lights began to intermittently stay on continuously both when driving and when the vehicle was parked. 3rd issue to arise was all of the back up lights stopped working altogether. The last occurrence was the engine light came on and coded there was a leak in the fuel system while driving. Vehicle is currently at dealership awaiting authorization to replace the tipm and another sensor.
The tcs and check engine light came on dashboard along with the wiper blades begin moving even though the wiper blade control switch was in the off position. Every button, horn, and the wiper blade/ turn signal control arm on the steering column will not work. Fuses appears to not be blown. Nothing with turn off the front wiper blades. All other electrical buttons and the dashboard cluster works with no mal function. The hazards work fine as button is below radio and not on steering column. This brings safety question of no turn signals at night and possibly airbag might not deploy if rest of the electrical switches and buttons are not functioning on the steering column only. This happened initially in motion on a city street after getting off a highway and turning into a parking garage. Millage is between 116000 and 117000 miles.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee will experience engine stall while the vehicle is in motion, at times in excess of 30 mph. This causes a loss of power steering and power brake functions. It has likewise stalled at stop lights/signals which is equally dangerous when vehicles are approaching from behind at high speeds expecting the vehicle in front to move with the green light. Chrysler issued a recall (p54) related to these issues, however the cheap external fuel pump relay wiring harness fix they employed to remedy the problems can be characterized as insufficient at best. In fact, the issues with our family vehicle have actually worsened since the p54 recall was performed in may of 2015. The vehicle's problems have now progressed to the point where the vehicle will not start: a typical symptom of these dangerous Jeep/Chrysler products. There are literally hundreds of consumer complaints outlining similar issues I. E. , the vehicles being difficult to start or not starting at all, vehicles' power windows not operating properly, door locks opening and locking on their own, horn blaring, the vehicle not recognizing the fob, electronic fuel pumps remaining on after the vehicle is shut off and stalling while the vehicle is in motion. A common theme related to all of these issues seems to be the power distribution center for the vehicles or the tipm (total integrated power module). It seems fiat - Chrysler has been aware of the problems with their oem manufactured tipm parts for some time, since 2007, but took the woefully inadequate route of correcting only a small and less dangerous issue of the manufacturers defect. Hence their court ordered p54 external fuel pump wiring harness, which on a good day will correct the fuel pump run-on. What needs to be addressed is the stalling while in motion issues associated with these vehicles. Please mandate a safety recall.
1. None of the controls on the steering wheel work. I cannot use the controls to change channels on my radio or increase / lower the volume. I cannot use the telephone hands free controls when trying to make a phone call. . . 2. All of the interior lights inside the vehicle stopped working. Regardless of what car door is opened 3. Light came on saying traction control was off. The light was a picture of a car with two squiggly lines behind it. I tried pressing the traction control button on the dash board panel alongside the steering wheel heater button. But it would not work. 4. My windshield wipers will not turn off (have to remove the fuse in order to stop the wipers). I tried squirting the windshield washer fluid --- but it will not work. My rear window wiper will not turn on. . . . Even though I tried to turn it on several times. 5. I have no turn signals. They would not come on no matter how many times I flipped the lever up or down. Major safety issue 6. My horn does not work - major safety issue 7. My headlights will not go to high beam even though the dial is set to auto. Not to mention my windshield was defective and had to be replaced (leaks lots of water when raining) replaced --- steering control module (part # 1he80hl9af) - according to northwest Jeep in beaverton oregon that was the issue -not did not fix a single issue totally integrated power module (part # 68244852aa) - according to other complaints, this part also needs replaced (seems that part of th tipm was replaced - the whole unit should have been replaced. ) we are extremely upset and displeased with Chrysler. . . . For the poor quality of the parts they used when building my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland. We bought this 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland in June 2015 and for being 4 years old, it should not being having all these problems!!!.
The horn and rear wiper began to go off automatically along with the console screens flashing resulting in the vehicle turning off at a stop light. After getting it started back up, while on the freeway (70 mph), the horn began honking on its own again and I was afraid the vehicle would turn off on the freeway resulting in a potentially disastrous situation so I exited the freeway and carefully proceeded to the Jeep dealership where after a few days they diagnosed it with a faulty total integrated power module (tipm). It was apparently not covered due to the fact that I had approximately 38k miles, instead of 36k of below. How can an electrical system fail due to "normal wear & tear"? I feel this should have been covered under warranty instead of becoming an out of pocket expense for me. I'm nervous about driving my vehicle even after the tipm was replaced; it doesn't feel the same.
This issue is well-documented online. My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee's steering column horn circuitry fails in the engaged position, causing the vehicle's horn to sound without driver intent. This is a safety hazard that can distract other drivers or cause them drivers to take unnecessary evasive action.
1. The vehicles head has to be replaced due to bad valves at only 59,000 miles. 2. The front right turn signal stopped working, and is burning the bulb socket and headlight housing. It was determined by an independent mechanic that the tipm module is going bad causing shorts, and other electrical issues. (the dealer claims it is a burned bulb socket, but we tested the socket, and entire system and found the true problem) 3. The horn stops working randomly, and sometimes when it does work its only the high tone. This problem is also traced back to a faulty tipm module.
The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While stopped at a red light, the horn sounded without warning until the battery was removed. The contact stated that the steering wheel was loose. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the horn seized without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the horn switch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.
Sunroof has failed 6 times and is now ready for it's 7th repair. The sunroof's automatic functions stop working so when it fails you have to push the close button repeatedly while the sunroof moves maybe 1/4" on each depression of the button. The dealer replaced the motor once and for the other 4 times I was told it needed to be calibrated. The last sunroof failure they went in and went through all of the electrical connectors and said they found some electrical wiring problems and fixed them. The sunroof failed again 2 weeks later. The airbag warning light, due to another electrical connector issue. The electronics in the vehicle malfunctions regularly which affect the radio controls, navigation, central locking, phone, and I get random erroneous errors on the dash display. The radio/navigation units have been replaced. The navigation screen locks up but the voice will continue to give you verbal instructions. If you manually lock the vehicle and start walking away the horn will beep twice and the vehicle will unlock like the keys have been locked in the car, even though they are in your hand. I was told you cannot use the lock buttons on your door to lock the vehicle. When you walk up to the car and grab the door handle to unlock the car it fails, and you have to grab the door handle all over repeatedly to get it to unlock. The dash display will give false messages while driving like already in desired gear and no one has touched the shifter. The voice will come on randomly and ask you what number you want to call, again no buttons nor the display have been touched. Error on display memory system, the programmed seat switches were replaced. Transmission issue, the module was replaced. Rear hatch failure, finally switch was replaced. Rear tail light lens replaced as it was full of water. Check engine light, faulty oil pressure switch. Engine vibration, bad ac comp.
Turn signals failed, windshield whipers failed to turn off, traction control turned off, horn failed to work, interior lights failed to work, could not turn lights onto highbeam, rear whiper failed to turn on, electronic transmission shifted into a different gear while driving. It was determined that this was a failure of the angle sensor in the steering column. The failure of this part caused significant failures of the main safety equipment of the vehicle (turn signals, headlamps, windshield whipers, traction control, transmission, horn) hazards because the primary safety equipment of the vehicle failed to function correctly while it was being driven.
I was driving on a surface street and beginning to slow for a traffic signal when the car shut off. I had no power whatsoever; had to coast as far as I could to the side of the road; then put the car in park, and restarted it. A few weeks prior, I had taken the car to the ontario, CA Jeep Chrysler dealership where they repaired an issue with the car not starting. The service rep stated that they had installed a circuit board overlay. It is my understanding that this is a supposed fix for tipm issues, but it did not stop my car from turning off after the repair had been done. Several months ago, I took the car into the same dealership with the complaint that the alarm - horn - had been going off randomly for no reason. At that time, the service rep said they could not replicate the issue and could do nothing. It is also my understand now that this is another symptom of tipm failure.
I currently have a tipm issue which can sometimes make it impossible to start my car. In addition, it can cause any of the following. The fuel pump not turning off the airbags not deploying or deploying randomly the engine stalling while driving the horn going off at random times. I have a 7 year old son and I use this vehicle everyday and I can not and will not put my life, my son and other drivers life at risk because of this issue with this vehicle. About a month ago I had to get my break boosters replace as well because they went out and I almost got in to an accident and hurt not only me and my son but another driver. I contacted Chrysler the seem to show not much conceren but I was able to take it to a local Chrysler service department and they corrected the break booster issue. Now I have this electrical issue that is not safe and I dont wan to cause any damage to anyone or myself because my Jeep stalls in the middle of the highway my airbags go off while driving and cause me to hurt someone or myself. Please help me not only me but help me for the other drivers on the road no one needs to get hurt because of these defects of this vehicle. Thank you!.
The engine dies quickly after start, the horn, door locks, and windshield wipers start randomly.
Vehicle had issue resolved by recall p57 where key fob would stick in ignition between off and on. The key first got stuck in the ignition on 8/14/14, a memorable day, because it happened on the day we were going to the title company to close on our first home. At the same time the ignition switch issue started the airbag light came on and all the steering wheel functions are disabled. The horn no longer works. It is unknown if the airbags work. This is clearly a safety issue but the dealership wants to charge $90 just to hook the vehicle up to their machines to diagnose what is going on and will not consider this as related to the recall p57. Not being able to honk in the interest of safety is a problem. It is unknown if the airbags are functional so I guess it will take getting in an accident to find out (an accident which cannot be prevented by honking my horn to warn another driver).

Check engine light came on. After shutting vehicle down for a couple hrs check engine light was off but horn would randomly go off every 15mins. I had to pull the fuse to stop it. I then noticed the dash was staying on and flickering when the vehicle was shut off. 2days later battery was dead. So far Chrysler has authorized a flash on the instrument cluster board which did not work. The part needed is on back order and wont be available for a month. They refuse to give out an acceptable loaner and told me I can take my chances and drive my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. After starting the vehicle, the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. A trouble code was detected, but the technician was unable to determine the cause of the failure. In addition, the horn became inoperable. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

The vehicle randomly will not start until several attempts of cranking are made. Keyless enter-n-go will not work randomly. Horn will start honking randomly during starting problems.
The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated the vehicle would not start and the horn would not function. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated the tipm module would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000. . Updated 11-18-13.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v643000 (air bags, seat belts); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact was concerned that the air bag would deploy in his face. The vehicle burned oil continuously and there was blue fumes coming from the rear of the vehicle. In addition, the horn sounded and the hood latch failed. The dealer repaired the vehicle. The brake master cylinder protective plate was repaired under NHTSA campaign notification p67. The fuel door mechanism was fractured and the dealer repaired the vehicle. The dip stick was not replaced. A grinder was marked for a new factory dip stick. The contact also stated that the dealer placed too much oil in the vehicle. When the vehicle was new with less than 200 miles, the instrument cluster failed and the contact could not see how fast the vehicle was driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed a short circuit in the sun visor wiring. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that the locks unlocked on their own. When the button was pushed on the key fob to open the rear tailgate, it would not respond. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 11,351.
