The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact heard what sounded like gunshots. He later discovered that the noise came from his own vehicle. He noticed that the needle on the temperature gauge was increasing. He pulled the vehicle over and it began to overheat. The contact lifted the hood and removed the radiator cap. As a result, scalding hot water poured out and cut his left eye and burned his right hand. A gentleman who was present at the scene provided the contact with water. He used the water to nurse his wounds. A nearby mechanic stated that the fan blade shattered into several pieces along with the guard above the fan (shroud). The mechanic informed the contact to call Chrysler. The contact called stevens Chrysler motors and was hung up on twice by the same person. His vehicle was towed to park motors and they reimbursed him for $900 worth of repairs. The contact plans to notify his attorney's general office and the better business bureau in regards to the poor service from stevens Chrysler motors. The contact received a recall notice approximately two weeks ago regarding the fan. The contact has receipts and paperwork concerning the failure. I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has 2 potentially dangerous issues with it. Due to a manufacturers design flaw, the brake lights malfunction on a regular basis. The light shorts itself out when the headlights are turned on leaving me with no brakes at night. In addition, the door lock actuator in my rear passenger door has broken. Since Jeep saw fit to only provide a key on the drivers door, this rear door neither locks nor unlocks which would result in a potentially lifethreatening situation if I were involved in a wreck and was unable to exit the vehicle from this door. My cooling fan broke, I replaced with a non-oem model which chewed a hole in my radiator after 100 miles. Replaced radiator and fan. Radiator broke after a year, re-replaced. After searching online I found that these are fairly common problems and not the result of some action on my part.

The right front power window would not roll down when using the switch.
Noticed truck running hot when sitting idle. Took vehicle to dealership, and they advised him of a faulty cooling fan module. Replaced cooling fan module, and one month later truck ran hot again and was leaking. Truck cut off while driving. Truck did not fall under current recall for cooling fan modules. Would like to request a full refund from manufacturer.

I received a recall for my Jeep grcher laredo-VIN 1j4gx58s82c29xxxx to replace the plastic fan belt. The dealer tamiami Chrysler Jeep miami FL, claimed they did not have the part in stock. After three call over a two month period, no response form the deal to fix. In the meantime the fan belt fractured and separated and damaged the radiator. We took the car to the dealer and they fixed the problem, but charged us $387. 34.

The consumer stated she tried to obtain a copy of the receipt for reimbursement, but was informed after sending over the receipt to daimler Chrysler that the receipt provided was not enough. My fan module in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee which is not currently under recall (due to the engine size) came apart while vehicle was on, causing damage to the radiator and other parts in the engine.
The heater fan in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee stopped working and there was a burning smell in the car. Mechanic found that the fan resistor (computer) and pigtail that connects to it were burned up. He checked with Jeep and there are 3,000 of these items back ordered because this is a problem on many of these vehicles. Its winter and 17 degrees in my car I could freeze with my family or my dashboard could catch on fire.

Just disgusted with the number of repairs I have needed to make to this vehicle. In the last six years the following repairs have been done: brakes replaced 3 times and need to be done again door window motor cooling fan, radiator evaporator coils hood lifters-hood will not stay up drivers door clunks starter compressor leaking axle seals and now I have a cracked head on the engine. The Jeep just failed out of the blue. Glad I was close to home. This vehicle is a lemon. Buy american again--most likely not. Are our "american" vehicles being built with inferior parts? or are they programmed to be obsolete within a few years?.

2003 Grand Cherokee engine over heated when slowing down. The cooling fan relay and cooling fan module was replaced. The hood would not stay open. The dealer replaced the hood props. The front rotors were out of round.
Tie rods, wheel bearings, ball joints, fan clutch, shorted engine compartment wiring harness, fuel pump assembly all gone wrong from time of purchase; January 2000/brand new to sept. 2006. . . Some pd. Under warranty others after 2004 not; even though the defects usually do not happen to a Jeep Grand Cherokee/fully loaded. The last straw was the ball joints; we asked if some form of recall should of been done and then asked for a reimbursement because my wife's' 2004 Jeep liberty limited had a recall on it's ball joints/lower ones so after having mine replaced last Friday 9/15/2006 we asked about the Grand Cherokee and it's ball joints; we also updated on all the defects we've had to correct and wondered if it wasn't a expensive lemon. . . $35,000. 00 is what I paid. We called Chrysler main customer service and was only told were sorry, the age of the Jeep and past warranty. . . What does that have to do with all the past defects since 2000 and the fact we tried their customer service in 2002 and got no where again. No matter the age of the vehicle. . . Safety is safety. And if ball joints go bad for no reason and have to be replaced then, it should go as a safety concern for all their vehicles.
9/12/06 - had electric fan motor assembly replaced while traveling by mcgee tire stores in tallahassee, FL for $535. 9/15/06 - received recall notice f25 from daimler Chrysler for same as repair. 01/02/07 - inspected by dayton andrews daimler Chrysler to verify work was completed. Sent original repair receipt, dayton andrews letter and recall notice with letter to daimler Chrysler requesting reimbursement for repairs. 01/16/06 - received a call from "randi" at daimler Chrysler stating that she revieved our paperwork and determined we were not entitled to reimbursement because we chose not to have Jeep perform the work. She refused to let me speak with her supervisor and stated that she was "empowered by daimler Chrysler to make this decision not to reimburse. " the receipt of the recall notice occurred directly following us having to have this work done while traveling to tallahassee, several hundred miles from home and stranded without a working vehicle. While we were having this work performed, we were unaware of this recall as we had not yet received the notification. How do we appeal to daimler Chrysler to reconsider this claim? I have soft copies of all documents, in case "randi" chooses not to return my original documents, which I can produce upon request. Thank you for your help.

The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence, and it was noticed there was a dent on the hood. When the hood was raised, the contact noticed the fan fractured causing the dent and the hole in the radiator. The dealership replaced the fan, fan shroud, and radiator.
Got recall notice from local dealership over a month ago. Have tried various times to get vehicle repaired but always told by dealership that they were unable to get parts. Very frustrating.
