1 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/07/2019

When driving or sitting stationary all lights and gauges go out on the dash board. Was told it was the ignition switch. I had the ignition switch recall performed. Vehicle still randomly has the same issue. Fm radio very bad reception. Numerous postings on internet about both of these issues.

2 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/19/2018

My Jeep started with radio fading in/out, lights on the console fading in/out, dashboard goes out completely and then back on and the passenger window goes down on it's own(even with the window lock on) also once so far my Jeep didn't turn off when I pushed the shut off. I had to disconnect the positive on the battery(dealership told me to do) and hook it back up, it showed no codes when I got to the dealership. Been to two dealerships paul bailey was useless, bald hill was able to reproduce and we are waiting on Jeep to tell them how to fix. Also it is hard to pump gas, it shuts off, you have to turn the gas handle upside down to pump.

3 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/05/2016

The sun visors on the passenger side caught on fire the lining was burned, the compass on the dashboard was out as well. Also I have been having a problem with the driver airbag light it has been turning on and off for the past 3 years. I have taken it multiple times to the dealership service to get fixed and they are unaware of the problem. It is a safety issue because if I was to get in an accident the airbag will not deploy.

5 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/02/2015

When driving at night or when lights must be used during day light hours the lights in the cluster panel go out and come back on or dim and the return to their original brightness. When the turn signal "stalk" is puled in or pushed in everything is ok for a few miles. Also, once in a while dashboard lights go off and on and chimes go off and on. This is occurring more frequently.

6 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/07/2015

The ignition appeared to drop all gauges, blower, warning lights, etc. The entire dash went dead and all controls went dead as far as gauges, interior lights, fan motor, etc. , although the vehicle appeared to keep running. The problem seems to be getting worse and worse, and we have been waiting over a year for Jeep to get the parts to replace the switch. They refuse to replace the switch with a new switch matching the same part number, but also have not secured replacement switches. It appears that they can continue to source switches for cars in production they wish to sell, just not the ones affected by this recall. Perhaps if someone halted sales of new cars until the auto manufacturers provided replacement parts for those under recall, we would have better performance on recalls.

7 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/30/2015

Going 40 mph the all lights on dashboard came on, the radio shut off, the abs brakes made a noise then everything on dashboard went out. Check engine light came on & the gas gage didn't work you couldn't tell how fast you were going ,the air conditioner quit & engine stopped, the vehicle was hard to steer & the brakes were manual & then engine started again. I turned the car off & turned it back on & the check engine light is on & the dashboard seems to work again. This has happened 2 times within 3 days. I am renting a vehicle cause I'm too afraid to drive the vehicle. There is a recall on this vehicle for the ignition switch with all the same vehicle loss of engine power, power steering & braking assist but it doesn't include the dashboard lights coming on & the dealers say it is not the same thing. The ignition switch recall came out in July 2014 & to date they have not provided any dealerships with the replacement parts. How can Jeep say it is not the same problem if they won't replace the recalled ignition switch to find out?.

8 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/22/2015

First incident: vehicle would crank but would not start on first attempt. Vehicle started on 3rd attempt. Vehicle was parked overnight (8+ hrs) in attached garage with ambient temp approx 75f before first attempt. . Second incident: same conditions as first incident, 8+ hours parked in garage temp approx 75f, takes 3 attempts before starting. Third incident: same day as second incident. Conditions are temp approx 85f 10pm at night I had been parked at walmart shopping inside for about 45 minutes. It had been raining so I go to parking spot to get Jeep to pick up wife from the front of store. It struggles to start after 3 attempts, I back-ed out of parking spot and drive towards front of store. As I am nearing the front of store the vehicle starts hesitating and dies while in motion. It died like it was out of fuel (fuel gauge read about 7/8ths full). Placed vehicle in part, restarted and drove 1. 5 miles home. 15 July 2015 I called around noon to make an appt at dealership to have problem diagnosed, made appt for Monday 20 july2015 at 7am. A few hours later when I was leaving work I get in the vehicle and it takes 3 attempts before it starts it died almost immediately. I cranked and ran on 4th attempt. I called wife while on my way home and uconnect failed in the middle of my call. I went straight to dealership and now they are trying to work it into their schedule for diagnosis.

13 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/15/2014

Purchased used vehicle from dealer. That evening while driving at speed (35 mph), my dash flashed, went dead and engine stalled, lost steering and brakes. The oil light lit and was only light on dash. Pulled over to side of road, after shifting to park, it restarted and drove normally. Next morning upon starting the check engine light came on. Drove to work, parked, called dealer. Upon entering vehicle again, used remote start, but when I inserted key, it died. Cycled key again and started. Returning to dealer, upon exiting freeway, it died again at roughly 30 mph. This time a loud clunk sound occurred and the same stalling issue, coupled with no brakes or steering occurred. After shifting to lark and cycling hey, it started immediately. Dealer diagnosed it as a "autostart relay switch" overheating and burning out. Replaced switch, check engine light disappeared, and vehicle drove normally all night. Third day of ownership, while at a stoplight, a loud clunk sound, coupled with jerking motion occurred. I actually looked at rear window because I thought I was rear ended, until I realized my dash was dead except for same oil light. Car was stalled. Placed in park, car started immediately. So far I've had car 3 days and it's happened everyday. Glad I just dropped close to 20k on a Jeep that may kill me.

15 Dashboard Failed problem of the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/30/2014

All of my dash gauges go out at any given time. There will be a beep and then the speedometer and all the rest do not register. The ck engine light will be on and the fuel light. The power windows will not go down, the ac will not work, radio, and now head lights are being affected and nearly caused me to crash. I have been terrified !! I worked and saved to get a new ignition switch installed hoping since it powers so many places at once that it would work, but after $174. 40 and a week without transportation I picked my car up today and after driving it about 15 miles it started doing the same thing. Now I am reading that many people are having similar problems with this make and model and finding your site gives me hope that maybe I will get some much needed help. Thanks for any help you can give to me it is greatly appreciated.

18 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/17/2013

Instrument cluster went out while driving. This included the speedometer, fuel gauge, rpm. And engine temperature gauge. I had no idea the speed in which I was driving. I have had the car for 10 days. I was heading in the same direction as the dealership when this occurred. Drove it right there and made sure they saw it was not working before taking and turning the vehicle off and on. The dealership said it needed a new instrument cluster and it would be 3 to 5 days to get the part. The dealer tried to get me to take the vehicle and bring it back when the part came in since the instrument cluster came back on. I told them I did not feel safe doing that. The dealership ending up giving me a rental car.

19 Dashboard Failed problem of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/27/2012

Help! we have been experiencing random electrical malfunctions for more than two (2) years with no end in sight. We've gone to two (2) local Jeep dealerships and spent more than $2,000. 00 to find and repair the problems only to have the same problems return over and over: 1. ) all dash / instruments and lights such as the check engine, check gauges, speedometer, tachometer (including the air bag) come on & stay on. 2. ) the fuel & battery gauges fluctuate and then the gauges fail to register. . 3. ) the windows, sunroof and all doors often fail to operate. . . The windows do not operate when the engine is running. We believe our problems may have to do with the tipm module. Just saw on the news that several Jeeps have had the same problems, and it showed exactly the same thing that is happening to my 1999. It is now 2014, and they have never been able to fix it. At first, one dealership said no charge for service because they (the dealer) had contacted Chrysler. Chrysler it seemed had assumed the responsibility, but when these problems kept happening and happening they give up, and put the burden on us. This is an electrical problem which we believe Chrysler has all assumed the responsibility by their first actions. We need to get this fixed. These problems were not caused by us. We are dealing with electrical problems beyond our control… we believe these are problems known to the manufacturer. This is a dangerous situation, if the air bag won't work, or the windows won't open. Please see the link below to the cbs news video report. . Read more...

21 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

This problem has occurred almost every day for two months. I will describe one incident, which occurred this evening around 11pm. I was driving on the highway in my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee when my accelerator stopped having any effect on my car. All of the gauges died (so the fuel reported empty, the speedometer said I was not moving, etc) - all of this while traveling at 65mph. I had to pull over, turn the car off and back on, and all of the problems went away. As I've said, this has happened once a day for the past two months. So far there appears to be no fix for the problem.

22 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

24 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/11/2010

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee (2006). Over the past 5 years, it has intermittently had problems. Sometimes while driving and after startup. These problems have always been loss of gauges, flashing lights in dash, what appears to be the traction control or brakes kicking in and the loss of power steering? when this first started happening I thought maybe the computer had been vibrated or jostled and had a glitch. Over time it would go away and 6 months or so later happen again! I have done everything in my power to stop this from happening, ie changing parts and trouble shooting the problems to no avail. I thought I had this narrowed down to a rusted connection from a ground wire connected to the block. . . . . Wrong again! this morning I had my 4 year old son in the Jeep and was taking a left at a busy intersection. I clearly had enough time to make the turn, but as I was turning it sounded like my anti lock brakes were kicking in in mid turn with a car coming right at us! I made the turn pulled over on the side of the road. All my gauges were dead, check engine light on and only the gear selector was visible. I have read on many Jeep related forums, that this is not only happening to my Jeep but many others! while reading I have noticed one thing. In many cases these problems were solved by replacing the ignition switch! after reading this I further researched the problem against recalls. I found that, according to the wall street journal, NY times, USA today and forbes, Chrysler is allegedly recalling these vehicles with faulty ignition switches. So I called my local dealer. They looked my Jeep up in their database and told me they're were no recalls on my vehicle and that they haven't recalled any vehicles for faulty ignition switches. I would appreciate it if the NHTSA could help with some of these problems and answer some of these question I and many others have.

The contact would become trapped inside of the vehicle because the power door locks and windows would become inoperable. The VIN was not available at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 119,000 and the current mileage was 121,000.

26 Dashboard Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/28/2008

Over the last 2 months, my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee has completely shut off unexpectedly while driving. On 4 occasions. The first occasion was 9/30 (35,123 miles) I read the manual that indicated that the engine light could mean a variety of things and it suggested that if the light remained on after a couple of uses to call the dealer. The light went off after two cycles. It occurred 3 weeks later. I made an appointment at a Jeep dealer to correct the problem. The 3rd time it shut of was on the way to the dealer to have it checked. The vehicle was checked by a dealer who could not offer any explanation for the problem. The 4th occasion was on thanksgiving day. ) just prior to the car completely shutting down, I heard an unusual sound under the hood, all gauges failed, and I lost all power causing the car to stop. This was extremely dangerous with three of the occasions occurring at intersection as I was pulling out. Fortunately I was able to drift off the side of the road. After drifting off the road and shutting the car off and re-starting the car it would run normally although the engine light remained on. After taking it to the dealer I was told that the problem could not be replicated and nothing could be done. I explained that the problem was very dangerous the dealer said that perhaps if the service tech could drive the vehicle the problem could be diagnosed. The vehicle was left at the dealer for 4 days but the tech could not replicate the problem. The dealer offered no explanation for this extremely dangerous problem. I am now reluctant to drive the vehicle and my wife refuses to drive it for fear it will shut off and cause an accident. The problem again occurred on thanksgiving day. I immediately called the dealer again and explained that it had occurred again. I was told to they were very busy on Friday and that I should bring the vehicle in on Monday. Help I have a vehicle that I cannot safely drive.
