My Grand Cherokee has stalled several dozen times over the past few years and the dealer can't fix it. The car stalls when slowing to a stop or turning through an intersection but we can't duplicate the problem at the service center. The dealer kept the car for nearly a month trying to duplicate the problem but could not, but I have kept records over the past year of all stalls and the conditions and the only condition that remains constant is that I am quickly braking from 40 mph or faster or I am braking while turning. Initially it only occurred while turning left, but now it occurs while turning right and while braking quickly while going straight. I have been in several near misses due to losing power steering and brakes and I am to the point to where I can't allow anyone but me to drive the car due to the safety factor. Twice I almost hit a car while turning and once a big rig almost hit me in the side as the car stalled mid-intersection of a six lane highway. The car is still under Chrysler's warranty, and as noted, the dealer has tried to fix the problem, but has failed time after time. The problem has occurred dozens of times but the latest time was today, at which point I decided to submit this complaint. Although I can't duplicate the problem on demand, there are 3locations where it most often occurs, and it most often occurs in the morning. The first location is about 2. 5 miles from my house, and the other two are 5 miles each from my house. Two of the three locations are at intersections with red lights, while the third is simply the location of where I work where it has stalled multiple times while just turning into the driveway. It also has stalled several times while coming home or just driving around or on vacation. Dealer has replaced fuel pump relay, wiring, and some emission control parts.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle underwent and unknown recall repair regarding the emissions that included a reflash of the vehicle's computer. Due to the reflash, there was a lag in acceleration of 4 to 6 seconds, which prevented the vehicle from safely merging into traffic. The contact felt that the reflash repair was a safety risk for himself and others. Larry h. Miller Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram albuquerque (8528 lomas blvd ne, albuquerque, nm 87110, (505) 404-0108) performed the repair. The manufacturer referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 38,000.

2005 Jeep engine light comes on periodically, they have not been able to tell me what is wrong with it. I had the car inspected while the light was on, it passed the safety inspection, but not emmisions. The rapid oil cchange center didn't know what the emission problem was, they told me I ihad to take it to the dealer. I made appointmnet with dealer,, I drop car off, the darn light is off!!!! the dealer say they cannot help me, my lease is up in two months, and that I have 6 days left on the emmision warrenty and there is nothing they can do unless the light is on. . . . I know that light will come back on the 7th day. I have documentation the light was on because the inspection wouldn't clear a few days back. . . . . . I want the warrenty extended.

1. Window regulator faulty: 1st incident occurred 9/2003 at 40,000 mi; driver window fell down due to faulty window regulator. Although warranty had expired, manufacture replaced, charged me $50 deductible. 2nd incident occurred 11/05 at 79,700 mi. ; front passing window, it fell down due to faulty window regulator. Dealer stated known problem, as did daimler Chrysler, but told me I would have to file a complaint with NHTSA. Was told that is what extended warranty is for. (they apparently do not back their product and are not quick to resolve known defects. )
2. 12/2004 transmission problems (clutch ring): car would not go in reverse; shifting rough. Was told known problem and was told I was lucky that it wasn't the whole transmission. Repairs approximately $600. 3. Brake problems: warped rotors/calipers/pads replaced at 24,000. I am currently on 3rd set of brakes (just now have 80,000 mi on car). Last set did not last a year. Premature warping, squeaking brakes, rattling car, steering wheel, just like the other complaints listed at NHTSA. Have had a few near accidents due to the shaking. Replaced at my expense except for the 24,000 mi job. 4. Emissions code on check engine light: due to faulty gas cap. Dealer charged me $100 for the diagnostics, and almost 18 for a gas cap. I have never heard of such a think, and feel it is something the mfg should be responsible for since it is an environmental issue. Again, was told I was lucky that it was only a gas cap??
why should I feel lucky when I spend $28,000 for a car that has known issues with the model and the mfg acts as if they didn't care, and tells me I should pay $2500 for an extended warranty. No, they should fix the known problems. We pay that much under the misconception that they stand by their product. As a result, I have problems with tires wearing out sooner than they should and front end alignment issues.

The cooling fan blade just broke while stopped at a light. It made the car thump I thought someone hit us but the fan blades broke the fan shrode and put dents all in the radiator and broke the fan guard. This vechile has had many of the same problems due to the electrical system. We lease the Jeep and have put $$$ in it because they would not take it back as a lemon with in the 2 years. I still hear a beep coming from under the dash that Jeep never found the problem or fixed it. I just had the fan relay changed because it went out. With in the first 2 years I had it in the shop for a variety of electrical problems I have all the paper work. I am afraid the Jeep will catch on fire or cause an accident. I've also checked many other things that were issues with the Jeep. Leaking shocks and transmission pan and emissions is now leaking. The check engine light stays on and every time I get it checked it's a different problem. I'm out of my warranty now but there have been so many different things wrong. The dealer replaced 2 of 4 leaking shocks they left the transmission pan loose when they replaced a part in the transmission. This Jeep is unsafe for the road it has lost power in the past while traveling so they replaced the battery twice with in a month.
The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle was included in the recalls associated with NHTSA campaign id numbers 06v197000, seats:front assembly:seat heater/cooler, and 09v117000, seats:front assembly:seat heater/cooler. The vehicle was repaired at an authorized dealer for both recalls. After being repaired he noticed that there was still a hole developing in the front drivers seat due to the heated seating feature. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer where it was repaired a third time. The contact also stated that the vehicle would intermittently overheat. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer one time a year for five years consecutively where the engine fan relay and motor was replaced. The failure mileage was 49,742 and the current mileage was 150,000. The consumer also stated the driver's exterior mirror also had a problem with the heating element. Also, the vehicle had an evaporated emission leak which caused the vehicle to fail inspection. The fan relay was replaced five times, the air condition was inoperative, the check engine light illuminated. The dealer refused to cover the repair of a hole that developed in the driver's seat approximately the size of a baseball which he believed was related to the heated element problems. Updated evoq 01/27/11.

Malfunction indicator light comes on with a obd-ii code of p0456.
Whenever the consumer attempted to fuel the vehicle fuel spilled onto the ground. There were recalls on the fuel filler neck and the canister assembly. The recalls have been repaired, but the problem still persists. Dealer explained that they were obligated to make the repairs once, then consumer has to pay for any other repairs.
Loud tapping noise emitted by the emissions canister under the hood on drivers side.
The vehicle exhibits a sag/hesitation following a partial cool down restart, possibly an oxygen sensor problem. While making hard left turns at slow speeds (such as a u-turn), the airbag warning light illuminates and a audible chime is activated. The right side brake light assembly is burnt (internally) due to some kind of electrical overheating. The vehicle shifts hard, misses shifts, shifts repeatedly at constant speed and on a level grade. The rear differantial "bumps" very hard within 3-20 seconds of coming to a complete stop. An immovable "fog" has developed on the lenses of the composite headlight assemblies.

On 2 separate occasions engine repeatedly lost power at highway speed. First incident, engine check appeared & dealer replaced oxygen sensor. Second incident (2 weeks later) dealer unable to determine problem & still looking. Has never happened during city driving. Keeping gas tank full appears to eliminate problem, but may be coincidential.
Crank sensor failed. Yh.
Gas tank was replaced mid July of 1999. After that date, the "check engine" light appeared. Service department claimed that the oxygen sensor was bad and replacing the part would fix the problem. The following day, the "check engine" light appeared again. Dealership was notified, but the service department was too busy to service us in the next few days. We went down to orlando FL, where we purchased the vehicle, and they saw the car immediately. The service department's diagnosis was the same as the dealership in jacksonville, FL. Oxygen sensor was reported as bad and replaced a second time in less than a week's period. The following day, on the way back to jacksonville from orlando, the "check engine" light appeared again and the dealership was notified in jacksonville. We are scheduled to have the car service again to correct the problem. Furthermore, the car is now running rough; indicating that the light is not just a malfunction, put a potentionally serious problem.
Oxygen sensor failed.
