Vehicle will not start everytime and once it's jumpered to another car it starts no problem. Sometimes it will start then immediately just die. Vehicle has never stalled while driving. I bought it Dec 2019 w/ 102k, it now has 120k I drive 400 mi/wk for work. I had to buy an extended warranty because of the miles and the warranty CO. Is saying they won't fix this air bag module and seat belt issue as well. This car needs to be bought back by the dealership. The dealer has all paperwork because they still have my car.

While driving my car on the highway the battery light came on. After a few minutes all of the other lights, seatbelt, engine, etc. Started to flash. Then my air conditioning turned off, my brakes stopped working and my power steering went out. Luckily I was pulling off of an exit. After finding out that there were 5 recalls, I took the Jeep to a dealership to have them fix it. I picked it up a few days later after they said it was ready. The day after picking it up. . . I was again driving down the highway and the Jeep did the exact same thing!!! again luckily I knew the signs and pulled over quickly but still lost control of the vehicle because power steering and brakes went out.
Check engine light would come on intermittently the last 5 months. Took to the dealership and auto zone for a code reader a few times and they were unable to pinpoint the exact problem because the engine light would disappear or multiple codes would appear. The vehicle would at times seem to lose power especially going up hill whether it was on a city street or highway. I finally was able to get a true diagnostic test done on 6/15/19 when the engine light was still showing on my dashboard. They code reader gave p0128 so I ended up having to get my thermostat gauge replaced and total repairs with diagnostic were $309. 15. I found it frustrating and unsafe that for 5 months the engine light would intermittently appear. After a trip out of town and drove a total of close to 1200 miles, the light stayed on. At this point, it is when I decided to take it in to the dealership before the engine light disappeared. I also noticed that the seatbelt warning light would not always alert if a passenger did not have theirs on. I tried to go back and select the seatbelt problem selection, but it would not allow me to.
Vehicle was in motion, traveling west. Vehicle was being driven at normal interstate speeds. Vehicle began to make a slight jarring sound along with a thumping feeling, as if driving along the knock strips. This was consistently occurring every 7 seconds or so, as if a tire was shredded. Vehicle began to accelerate along with traffic flow. Engine light began illuminating. Engine began to feel lethargic. All digital gauges were indicating normal temps and pressure. No tire warnings. Vehicle began to exhibit smoke smell in vents. Vehicle became harder to accelerate to attempt to alleviate issue, as if stuck in between gears. Vehicle became harder to control. Switched from left lane to far right to reduce speed. Vehicle became more lethargic. As vehicle proceeded up exit ramp to leave interstate, transmission automatically went into neutral. Vehicle was able to coast into gas station parking lot. Vehicle was shut off. Raised hood, and there was a smell similar to rotten eggs, like a natural gas smell. No obvious damage as if it was physical. No belts or hoses appeared loose or hanging. No fluids were visibly leaving engine. No smoke or steam. Attempted to restart vehicle after several minutes to cool engine due to hotter temperatures. Vehicle has push button starter. Vehicle would not start for roughly 15 seconds with brake pedal depressed. Vehicle sounded like it was straining to start. Roadside assistance was notified. Upon arrival, tow truck operator had extreme difficulty starting vehicle. Vehicle had to be forced onto tow truck using cable release in center console. Electrical systems functioned fine. No damage to body or underside upon examination of good samaritans and tow truck operator. Vehicle has roughly 74,xxx miles, of which roughly 45,000 are highway mileage. Vehicle is maintained regularly for oil changes and has had tires rotated and balanced.

While driving or stationary the engine shuts down on me. It starts again after I wait about an hour or more. I bought this car from the original owner in December 2017. She had all the recalls fixed except for the airbag. Since owning this car I have only driven it 3 times. Granted I took a few months to put it on the road as the weather was cold. I've had extensive work done on it. Tune up, new transmission, belts, pumps, coils, hoses and sensors you name it but it continues to shut off on me. I try to take it for a spin but just putting it in reverse it shuts off. Can you please look in to this?.

Alternator seized on the car after only 33,000 approx. The vehicle is just outside of the 36 month warranty. Jeep will not fix and says it does not fall under recall p60/ NHTSA 14 -634 even though the issues described in the recall are exactly what happened to my vehicle. I called the Jeep dealership and fca and neither are willing to work with me or do anything to resolve the problem. I'm told per my VIN number that my vehicle does not have the faulty alternator yet it has the exact problems of the recalled one from the same year. Issue description- I was driving from nashville TN to naperville IL and approximately 3 hours from naperville I stopped for gas and a break and upon starting the car the battery light came on. I continued to drive to naperville IL and upon exiting the highway the car started losing power. It sounded like a vacuum cleaner and not like a normal engine. I keep driving and pulled into a parking lot. As I pulled in I lost all electrical components, including the brakes. The car would not start. Upon taking it to my mechanic, then to a Jeep dealership it was determined the alternator seized and damaged the battery and belt. They refuse to correct it and I'm now paying $680 for repairs.
I too have had the issue with the seat belts not locking unless pushing down red release . Before that happened though, the latch lost contact and bell chimed till ignition was turned off as the seat registers when body is in seat. I called Chrysler and they acted stupid but did give me maneuver to deactivate chime which can be found on youtube also. My other issue happened within the first 500 miles of being new. Exhaust manifold on left side failed and they said it was the gasket and fixed. Then 2 years later the other side did same thing and they fixed. Then after warranty was over the left side went again. This time they said it was cracked stud and they wanted 1200 to drill it out and replace. I called Chrysler out on this and after back and forth they finally took care of it. Well that same side has noise again huh.

3. 6l engine. Vehicle keeps overheating. I have taken it to the dealership new thermostat new belts they have flushed the cooling system. The engine will run for approximately five minutes then it will start getting really hot up to 300 also the heating system will not work when this happens it blows only cold air.
Bought this vehicle for transportation to work and have not been able to drive it due to safety issues as the timing belt has apparent issues that make the main computer read it wrong from what I am understanding. The vehicle wants to shut off at a red light or stop sign, then kicks back into gear. It seems to drive better on a main stretch, yet faulters at slowing to a stop. It is at the manufactor now and has recalls, yet this was not on the list of repairs. However, I beleave it is an issue that should be addressed without me having to pay a service bill for the amount they are wanting to charge me for repairs. I feel this is a manufactor defect that should be fixed. They mentioned the timing belt and crank shaft. Im no mechanic, however, these issues could cause me to loose control of this vehicle and should be corrected. I feel it is tge manufactors obligation to safety to help me to have the issues corrected. I had to have someone else drive it to the shop for me with me as passenger. Very scary ride.

During rain storms both driver and passenger sides are flooded with water. This has ruined carpet in vehicle and will probably rust the bottom of the car. - vehicle stationery in driveway of home. The safety belts both driver and passenger sides are not working - do not secure unless you push down hard to engage the belt into lock mode. I do not feel safe when I have to manually engage the belt hook into the lock. I had an accident and crashed into a fence, the airbag did not deploy. Vehicle in motion at time. When I start the engine , vehicle still in park mode, it accelerates in high mode without stepping on gas pedal. On a city street.
Car stalls without warning. Collided with tree, major front end damage. No power steering, power brakes, no air bags were deployed, seat belts did not tension. Vehicle had stalled previously and take to dealer. Dealer replaced ignition coils and said problem was fixed.

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Jeep cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at any speed, the vehicle shifted gears automatically, jerking hard enough to throw the occupants off their seats were it not for seat belts. The most recent incident occurred while the contact was driving 65 mph: the transmission failed, the vehicle lost power and the contact was forced to stop at the middle of the road, turned the engine off, restarted and coasted to the side. The transmission and check engine lights illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new transmission but that a new transmission would not be available until November. The vehicle continued to loose transmission. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and promised to work with the dealer, to provide a rental vehicle. The failure mileage was 17,800. Fe.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.
My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been at beaver county Dodge Chrysler Jeep since 5/5/2015. It was taken in for stalling issue, odometer adding excess miles, touch screen radio going black, seat belts that do not tighten and other various recalls. My Jeep has not left their parking lot since 5/8/2015 I called today 5/22/2015 and it is still not finished they stated. I have paid an entire month on my lease and I have not driven my vehicle. The service department has not made one attempt to fix my Jeep and I am not sure when I will ever get it back at this point. The dealership and fca have been giving me the run around since August 2014 about fixing these problems that they state simply cannot be fixed at this time? I have been having these problems for 9 months now and the dealership and fca keep telling me that they have no resolution to my problems.

•approximately twenty nine (29) days after purchasing the vehicle I began to have trouble with the 911 button on the rearview mirror flashing red which would lead to a message on the navigation screen which read “vehicle phone requires service contact dealer”. •the vehicle has been returned to the dealer for service on 12/21/13, 5/17/14, 7/21/14 and 7/29/14 for this 911 button issue on 5/17/14 said vehicle was returned to the crowley service dept. For the same problem of the 911 button flashing and the message on the navigation screen reading “vehicle phone requires service contact dealer. ” on 7/21/14 said vehicle was again brought to the crowley service dept. For a multitude of issues: •again the 911 light on the rearview mirror was flashing and the navigation screen read “vehicle phone requires service contact dealer”. •the airbag light on the dashboard was illuminated: •the seatbelt indicators for both driver and passenger were lit up and would not stop “dinging” regardless of proper use or there not being a passenger in the seat •the rpms would suddenly skyrocket and the vehicle would make a “vroom” noise while the digital screen read “service shifter”: •the air conditioning system was blowing warm air. On 7/29/14 said vehicle was returned to the crowley service dept. For a completely non-functional a/c system. On 7/31/14, after having the vehicle back from the crowley service dept for less than 24 hours, I attempted to answer a phone call using the bluetooth software in said Jeep. The in dash phone displayed on the navigation screen no longer rings to notify the driver of an incoming call. Attempts to select the green button to answer the calls lead to a transfer of audio from bluetooth to the handheld device, (illegal to use while driving in CT), and the call is terminated.
Soon after taking possession of this vehicle (9/27/13) I noticed that now and again (4/5 times) there would be a hesitation from the automatic transmission when shifting to the next higher gear when accelerating to highway speed. It was so subtle that I filed it under "nothing is perfect", but would keep score. Don't be misled by the low mileage above. That is my new normal. A head and neck injury in 2001 followed by a long overdue diagnosis of severe ptsd by the va left me practically a "house hermit" and driving anywhere involving distance requires hiring a driver. This vehicle was nothing more than my being able to have access to the woods with a 911 button attached to keep the p/a in check. What happened to me was that from a stop sign I turned onto the main highway and was accelerating to 55 when at about 50 the transmission hung, this time it would not release to the next gear, the engine began to struggle until it almost stalled. As unexpectedly as it had hung the transmission shifted, the engine immediately recovered ""with a roar"" and off we went. (extra rpm's, ? computer/fuel pump saw no problem) I'm sure that in those seconds my speed dropped 20 mph's with no "warning", such as brake lights had someone been behind me. Had this occurred entering a busy belt-way, interstate, etc. , you can imagine the possible may-hem. Did some research, got an appointment for service at the dealership and was told (as expected from research) their computer saw no abnormalities and showed me a blank piece of paper to prove it. Asked them to sign a piece of paper saying my drivetrain was "just wonderful" and reaffirming that Chrysler had never heard of any problems just in case I or others wound up dead or maimed from "no problems". I now have a "moral problem" sitting in my driveway and not out in the middle of the woods.
I was driving down the road yesterday in my Jeep Grand Cherokee and the throttle went wide open on me, I tried to get it to stop by tapping the gas thinking it was just a litlle stuck, but it would not stop so I immidiately pulled over, had to slam it into gear, got out and ran into a gas station and had them call 911, came back out and my Jeep was shooting flames out of my exhaust and the entire under carriage was glowing red. Resulting in a loss of my serpentine belt, power steering pulley, melted my transfer case, and more that is yet to be inspected.

Front passenger and drivers door interior handles are cracking. The cracking is going to lead to a failure of the interior door handle, making it impossible to get out of the vehicle in a emergency. While cleaning the door panels I noticed the problem and checked all four door. The only door that is cracked is the front doors. I looked for recalls on this matter and did not find any. I have talked with other Jeep owners and they have stated that they have had the same problem. The from seatbelts will not retract all the time. If this happens the seat belt will get caught in the door, wearing the belt. This has happened numerous times on my vehicle. There is a wear point on the seablet were it has got caught in the door.

I was driving in the rain going the speed limit. My Jeep hit a pool of water on the surface of the highway and started to skid and hydroploane. The next thing I knew it was flipping over and landed on the shoulder of the highway. I was lucky to be wearing my seat belt. I was suspended upside down by my seatbelt. I was able to unbuckle it and crawl out the drivers side window which was completely blown out. Seconds after I got out of the car it burst into flames and the entire vehicle was engulfed and burned completely inside and out. There was nothing left of it but burnt frame. As soon as the car came to a stop upside down, I smelled gas and just a minute or two later the car was totally burned up.
This has happened 3 times, the first time I had just gone through the dulles toll and as I paid the toll and pulled off the engine did not stay in drive, it went into 1st or 2nd gear. The second and third time I was again driving on the beltway and the gear switched from drive to neutral or a lower gear. Each time (3) I had to pull over and stop and go into park and then back into drive. Don't know if it's an engine, gear or power train issue. Also almost daily when driving, the engine sounds like it's pulling/straining and not going all the way into drive. This is happening in the winter and summer (any time of year, not weather specific). I always warm the car up before driving it. When the engine is not having this issue, it drives very smoothly. The issue happens 75% of the time (except when I take it to the dealer, it always drive smoothly when they take it out). Have taken it to the dealer and complained but the response has been that when they took it out to test drive it, it was fine and they would have to keep it and do several test drives to see if it will replicate the situation. Because I need my vehicle to get back and forth to work each day and they are not willing to pay for a rental or provide a loaner, that isn't possible. I don't have the funds to rent a car and pay a car note. I received the recall for the issue with the brakes so hopefully my experience with the brake needing to be pushed on firmly will go way when the part's come in (hugh back order, on waiting list for parts). I also get the car serviced regularly (when it's time) so I know that's not the problem.

My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee(4. 7) with 58,000 miles overheated and stalled as I was pulling a small cargo trailer. The Jeep is equipped with a transmission cooler and up until this incident I've had no overheating problems. When I popped the hood there was coolant every where. The Jeep was towed to service garage and was diagnosed with a failed water pump. The day I picked up my "fixed" Jeep I noticed a strange sound coming from the engine . . . I took the Jeep back to my service garage and they told me my a/c compressor was failing and upon checking with the local parts supplier, my mechanic told me he could not buy a replacement compressor . . . I must go to a Jeep dealer. I did and was told there was a national back order and I would have to wait at least 3 weeks for a replacement. Keep in mind the engine has one belt, so at any time the compressor could freeze up and I would not be able to drive the vehicle once the belt broke. I did a lot of phone calling and found a compressor in illinois . . It was delivered and installed for $550. 00. So, within a week I spent over $900. 00 for repairs. The Jeep was a dealer demo, so I was out of warranty even though I bought the Jeep with less than 1,000 miles on it.
2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo dashboard lights keep illuminating. Consumer states that the indicator lights were for the brake system. She stated that she lost all power brakes. Repair shop received the tensioner and repaired the vehicle. The consumer stated she received a recall in the mail after she had experienced the problem. The serpentine belt tensioner was replaced and the rear defroster line was inoperative.
My wife and I purchased a 2006 Jeep wk 4x4 on Feb 20 2006. As soon as we left the dealership with 150 miles on it the air bags malfunctioned and had to be repaired. About 1 week after the repairs they malfunctioned again and where fixed again only to malfunction 2 more times and the dealership said there was no problems and cleared the codes. At the 3000 mile service there was an oil leak on the front crank seal which was replaced. It has also been in the shop 5 times due to an engine malfunction light in which case there was a multiple cylinder misfire, the dealership said there where no problems and cleared the code every time only for it to come back on. I just picked my vehicle up from the dealer again because the crank pulley and dampener where wobbling real bad and the check engine light was on again for the same reason. All repairs where made and after I left the dealership 15 miles down the road the light came back on. The transmission shudders when I'm stopped and shifts real hard. The dealership said its fine and there is now evidence of that. All these incidents are ongoing since the day it was purchased.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle always swayed back and forth as if it were off balanced. While driving approximately 30 mph, she noticed that the engine warning light was illuminated on the instrument control panel. Smoke appeared from the vehicle. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the radiator fan cracked and caused the failure. The belt, radiator fan, thermostat, and water pump were repaired at the cost of $1,000. The manufacturer informed her of NHTSA campaign id number 06v199000 (engine and engine cooling: cooling system: fan); however, the contact never received a recall notice. The manufacturer only covered the expense of the fan, which was $265. The engine warning light is still illuminated on the instrument control panel and the air conditioning system does not work. The failure mileage was 91,000.
Purchased a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited from carmax on sept 30th 2002. Immediately after purchasing the vehicle, a high pitch sound started to be heard while the car is idling. I've taken the car to two different dealers approximately a total of five times or more and no one at the dealership was able to pin point the problem. Initially, the dealer thought the noise might be related to the belt, but once the belt was changed the noise persisted. The engine was also checked and unfortunately the noise is still being heard and it is more pronounced. Then on top of everything else, the heating vent on the passenger side has malfunctioned conviently after the warranty just recently expired. In addition on March 12th 2004, upon bringing my truck into the dealership for servicing, the machanic scraps the side of the truck removing the paint off of the rear passenger door and antwerpen Jeep doesn't want to compensate me. Please advise. Any info that you would be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. This has not been a good experience for me. I purchased a new Ford mustang in 1997 and was completely satisfied, had no problems with the car and the service was exceptional.

Broken window motor, seat belt mounting bolts, leaking rear shock absorbers, etc. . . The consumer felt Jeep should fix the outstanding problems with the axles and the transmission and give a warranty for the power train. The vehicle experienced a noise while in motion. Also the broken window lift leaked, the rear absorbers failed, the rear passenger window leaked air, the seat belt mounting bolts failed, and a potential fire hazard on the manifold debris shield, the brake pedal pulsated wildly(front were rotors turned), the passenger window had stuck shut, the exterior mirror had broken off, and the transmission slammed into reverse. There was a buzz in the rear which had progressed to a howl. Refer to odi# 10027025.
While backing out of a parking space, I heard a loud snap and the suddenly lost the power steering. I could not make it home and had the vechicle towed to a local service station. The aaa tow truck man noticed that the serpentine belft was off the pulley. The power steering pump bracket snapped off the engine block. The head to one of the bolts on the bracket sheered off, leaving the stud in the engine block (probably needs to be drilled out or rebored). I plan to replace the part with the same aluminum dealer part, but I am very concerned about the related safety issue. I had my wife, infant and 3-yr old son in the car. If this would have happened at highway speeds or on a sharp turn, the results could have been disastrous. The dealership claims that this is a typical problem and the bracket can break. This is unacceptable!.

Vehicle was going 65mph on expressway and cruise control came on involuntarily. Consumer tried to stop vehicle by applying brakes manually to disengage cruise control switch, and turn on/off switch to decrease or increase cruise control speed, however engine continued to accelerate. Consumer stopped vehicle by shifting to park. Brakes were used up completely trying to stop vehicle, also emergency brake cord was severed due to brakes burning out. Dagnosis of the problem was that cruise control cable got caught on outer plastic line cover of another wire. Dealer notified. The dealer rplaced a cracked serpentine belt.
