Call stalled due to the failure of the alternator, which was subject to recall. The dealership refused to schedule an appointment, so I just dropped my car off at the dealership per Chrysler corp. The dealership replaced the defective alternator and found that the battery needed to be replaced at a charge of 350 dollars. I informed the dealership that the message center on the car indicated that the car was entering "batter saver mode" as it shutdown. The manual for the vehicle indicates that the vehicle enters this mode when the battery is not being charged, the primary function of the alternator. I requested that the dealership replace the battery as its depletion was due to a faulty alternator, they declined. They stated that although the alternator was faulty it did not do any damage to the battery.
Sometimes when the auto engine shut off feature is enabled. When releasing the brake the car fails to restart. To get the car restarted the vehicle must powered completely off and restarted. This has happened when attempting to turn on to busy streets where it could have been catastrophic.

The vehicle consistently shuts off while I'm driving, losing power steering and engine power. It seems to occur when I am slowing down. This happens usually once/twice each week and most recently almost caused a high speed accident, as my car shut off while I was making a left turn on a highway, which caused a semi truck to swerve, nearly hitting me and my 4 year old son.

Alternator p60 I NHTSA 14v-634 Chrysler has decided that a defect, \vhich relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2011 through 2014 model year Dodge challenger, Dodge charger, Dodge durango, Chrysler 300 and 2012 through 2014 model year Jeep. Grand cherokee vehicles equipped ,vith a 160 an1p alternator. My Jeep Grand Cherokee is a 2011 and experienced to exact alternator malfunction as described in this recall. Chrysler does not recognize my car in this recall. According to the recall, p60 I NHTSA 14v-634 the problem is . . The alternator diodes in your vehicle may experience a rapid failure. Variability in the failure m node ranges from no output, reduced output, and/or a fully shorted to ground condition. Depending on the alternator failure mode and timing, vehicle electrical system voltage may drop to critical levels, disabling systems such as antilock brake system (abs), electronic stability control (esc), electronic control module (ecm), and/or the central body controller (cbc). The driver will have limited or no detection of the alternator failing, ,which can result in vehicle shutdown,vn ,while driving and/or an under hood electrical fire. Seem my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee should be added to this recall.
While making a turn the steering and the brakes locked up and the engine shut off, causing me to lose control of the vehicle. This has happened twice 8 months apart. I've done the recall for the relay switch in 2015. This happened again (2nd time) yesterday April 9th, 2018. I almost hit a car at a light it was terrifying. The dealership has my Jeep now and said they can't diagnose unless they have an error code or unless it happens while the technician is driving it. Is Chrysler going to have people drive these SUV's and ignore that people could die? this is an extremely urgent situation. I don't feel safe driving my Jeep that I love. Please help?.
While driving my car in the city, I experienced a sudden engine shutdown, and entirely lost control over the car (steering, breaks etc. ) the car was towed to Chrysler's certified garage, where the malfunction was identified as a failure of the fuel pump relay (the same relay which was already been replaced, as part of recall r09). The garage also re-confirmed that this relay has been replaced under the recall, in 2015. The meaning of this failure demonstrates that practically, replacing the unit under recall r09 has not solved the problem and the risk is still there! I have reported this incident to fca in europe, and was responded that this failure "could happen in 5 years old car" and therefore, there is no safety issue that requires them to warn other owners. However, I have found on-line lots of similar complaints, most of them in the us, indicating that the failure of the replaced fuel relay is common, and that fca do not take responsibility. . The car stalled and engine shut off while driving, decelerating around a left turning curve. Lost acceleration capability, power steering, brakes, and electrical system (no emergency flashers). Could barely control car and ended driving through curve, off the road, down into small ravine and into field. Were fortunate to avoid road signs and telephone pole. Car restarted after putting gear in park. Very afraid to drive this vehicle anymore. Not able to get appointment with Jeep dealer for another week. Research shows this could be related to faulty tipm. Our service records indicated this Jeep did receive Chrysler group safety recall p54 (NHTSA #14v530) tipm internal fuel pump relay replacement, which states is a potential cause of the car losing power. Seems to have not prevented the moving car from losing power.
I had my Jeep for less than a year and one day, for no reason, it just shut off. I took it to Jeep and they said the wrong oil was used in the previous oil change. So they put oil in the truck. A couple of months later and it's doing the same thing. It's a disaster waiting to happen. I can't take a chance on driving down the road and the vehicle just shuts off. The vehicle was in motion each time.

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 30-75 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. Additionally, the brake pedal was applied, but failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (autonation Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram and fiat, 2201 victory dr, columbus, GA 31901), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer attached a history recorder to the vehicle. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled and the traction control and service four wheel drive indicators illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. Also, while driving at unknown speeds on March 25, 2018, the windshield wipers spontaneously activated, the radio changed stations, the brake pedal was applied and failed to respond, and the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to landmark Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of morrow (50 mount zion blvd, morrow, GA 30260), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and opened case number: 33696515. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 66,000.
Engine shuts down while driving with no warning. Already had tipm replaced twice. Last thing we were told that it could have been a loose battery terminal. Concerned if the vehicle is safe to drive.
The push start button has issues starting the engine. There has been a recall for this and the issue still persists. The only way the dealer will fix the issue is if the problem is seen 1st hand and occurs for longer then 8 seconds. I have paid for multiple rental cars and spent multiple hours at the dealer to have this issue fixed and it keeps recurring. Something needs to be done to fix it without re-occurrence. My final point is that yesterday when dealing with this issue my car started after its second try, I then drove onto the street and the engine shut off and the brakes locked up. Luckily there was not any cross traffic because it could have caused a serious accident on a busy street with my daughter and myself in the car. This hse risk has caused me to be very concerned about the drivability of my vehicle and something needs to be done ASAP!.
Vehicle engine shuts off randomly while driving. This problem has happened multiple times. The engine is not running so there is no power steering or power brakes putting my wife, child, and others around them in danger when this happens. There are numerous and numerous amounts of complaints about this issue all over the web. Chrysler has a recall fix for this issue but their fix is not working, as we have had this "fix" done twice, still having the stalling while driving issue. There are 188,000 other vehicles affected by this. These vehicles are a danger to everyone on the road.
2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo shuts off while driving. First noticed about a month after driving it. Approx. Mileage about 5,000 on initial complaint; current mileage about 23,000. Vehicle will beep at you and dash will state "vehicle not in park". First time it occurred at night and I lost all exterior lights. Other times when engine shuts off it keeps radio and interior dash lights on. Multiple dealerships state that they cannot recreate the issue and that no codes are being stored. Chrysler hooked up a data recorder to the vehicle and stated nothing out of the ordinary showed up once it happened. Was also told that if vehicle lost all power during the incident, that the data recorder would not reflect those conditions. The company will not replace, repair, or buy back without a diagnosis. Huge safety concern for not only the passengers and driver, but also others on the road. If on a busy street it shuts off with no lights, there will be greater risk of causing an accident at speed. According to dealership reps, looked into push button controller and receiver, auto start/stop feature, key fobs, and engine fuel system. All open recalls have been performed on my Jeep. All recommended factory maintenance has been performed at the dealership. This is not the only issue recorded, but is the most serious due to life safety concerns.

Jeep will crank but not start over, have replaced the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump and the batteries in both fobs vehicle will not start. On the rare occasion I get the Jeep to run it will randomly shut off. . . . Last time I was on the freeway going 65mph when the engine shut off and I was almost rear ended because of the Jeep slowing down substantially my 6 year old daughter was in the car and I was terrified.
Without warning my Jeeps engine will shut off. It doesn't matter if it is while stopped or driving it will shut off and not turn back on until about 10 minutes later. When it has shut off it will still turn over and I have power to everything I need but it will not fire up. This happened first on a sunny morning driving in town. I towed it back to my house and could not get any codes. It fired up and I thought it was fine so I kept driving it. At this point about ten minutes down the road in the middle of traffic and while cruising along a busy road it shut off, I had power and the ability to steer but no power steering. Luckily I had a driveway to pull into and I coasted into it. This happens without warning. At this point I have my Jeep at the dealer in modesto CA for a diagnostic and they have told me that I need to replace the computer and the wiring harness for 1400 dollars and then they will see if that fixes the problem. Not a guarantee it will fix the problem. This is unacceptable to me as I cannot spend this type of money with the hope that whatever other problem there might be will be more affordable or easier to diagnose. This has to be a problem that is inherent with the Jeep itself and a manufacture defect. Not only do I not believe this is my fault as a user of the vehicle but I believe that this has caused an unsafe operating condition and I could have been seriously injured if this had happened on another road such as, a dirt road, mountain road, winding road, in icy or rainy conditions, or on the highway. This has also caused me to not be able to sell this car for any reasonable price, and the price for repair is over a quarter of the blue book of the car. Overall I do not feel safe with this vehicle for the intended purpose it was made for and this needs to be investigated before someone gets killed. Thank you.

My car turns off while driving differnt times of the day could be in the morning or could be during the day. It just shuts off with no sign the lights are on in the front the radio is still on its happened several times. Some times does not want to start randomly. . . This is my 3rd time taking it into the dealer with this same issue and they keep saying nothing is wrong with it. This last time I was on the freeway and it just shut off. I just want them to repair it. The fist time I took it in I want to say I was under the warranty miles around 34 or 36000 I am going to confirm with the dealer.

Takata recall. Was driving with kids and wife I began coming to a stop and was going about 10 to 15 mph when the car stalled out. It shut off and the steering wheel locked up along with the break pedal was nonoe functional as well as the gas pedal and the gear shift. The car would not go back into park and left me in the middle of the road for about 4 minutes. I finally got it into park and then it wouldn't start for a few minutes. This all happened on a major highway in my area. It finally started and we took it to the dealership as it is pretty much brand new. (33k) on the vehicle. The dealership has ran test and has told me that there is a 2018 Jeep in the same place doing the same thing. We have had the car there for about a month and they say there is nothing wrong with it and now we have to come pic it up. Something is definitely wrong with the Jeep as we was in motion, coming to a stop and was not turning. I would say it's a life or death situation.
The engine cranks and runs fine but after you drive for a while the engine shuts off. It happens while you are driving or coming to a stop. It is random. It usually starts back up and runs fine until next time. When the engine dies, you do not have steering assist or brake assist. It is very hard to steer it off the road. A woman may have a hard time steering it or stopping it. I don't let my wife drive our Jeep much at all. It doesn't matter if you are driving in the city or on the freeway when it decides to shut off. Our Jeep is a 4wd with automatic transmission.

On may 4, 2017, approximately around 7:00pm, I turned right onto a freeway and my steering wheel locked up and the vehicle shut off completely. I was not able to turn the steering wheel and barely was able to make it out of the middle of the road. The engine shut off while driving down the road. I am luck that I did not have a car behind me or I would have caused an accident. How scary!! Chrysler has claimed that they have fixed this!!.
Engine shuts off with no warning while driving. Power steering and brakes are lost. No service lights or loss of power to other items (radio) and no error messages can be found by Jeep dealership service tech. This has happened 3 times most recently 4-4-17.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle shut off, the steering wheel seized, and the power steering warning indicator failed to illuminate. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,000.
While driving battery low voltage alarm occurred. Shortly after, electrical systems began to shut down, lost power steering, then engine shutdown. I was able to get to shoulder of a major highway. Vehicle had no power :all electrical indicators, displays, lights, including shifter were off and could not be turned on.
Vehicle shuts off randomly while driving. Both times it has happened during deceleration. Power steering and brakes are lost. No indicator lights visible and no diagnostic codes set. Chrysler customer service disavows any knowledge of a problem although there are several accounts of similar issues on the Jeep forums and other websites. Dealer can find nothing wrong. My wife is now afraid to drive the vehicle because she cannot control it without power assist.
Was slowing down from 50 mph to make a left hand turn. As I was entering the turn, at about 30 mph, the engine shutoff. All dash lights still functional, radio was still on, turn signal still on. There was no sputtering. Lost power steering and power braking (and any other items that are not functional while in "run" mode). Shifted to "neutral", but it would not start because the transmission was not in "park". Pulled to the side and stopped the vehicle, put it in "park". Started like nothing had happened. There were no warning lights before shutdown, there are no service lights or obd ii codes stored in computer. Was using the push button starter, the key fob was in my pocket.
While driving, the ignition switch goes into accessory and the engine shuts off. . Jeep has no power steering or power to control the vehicle. This scared the "h" out of my wife yesterday while driving in traffic across a bridge going to work. She was traveling aprox. 45 mph across a straight bridge. This same thing happened to mysely last year while on the PA turnpike in traffic. I put the flashers on and shifted into neutral and restarted the Jeep without much serious problems. But now a second time !!! I don't want anybody to get hurt because of this.

Engine shuts off intermittently while driving at different speeds.
While vehicle was in motion on the highway the engine shut off. My wife was driving it with our 4 year old daughter in the backseat. At that time the vehicle lost power steering. She called me in a panic. I called the Jeep dealer who came and towed the vehicle in to the service department. The same thing happened while the Jeep was in the shop at California superstores in valencia, CA. They called me several times to come and pick the car up because they could not figure out what happened, but that there was not a "fix" for it. Due to concerns for my familys safety I refused to pick the car up and called Chrysler who told me not to pick the car up, that it was dangeous to drive it. The next weeki was again told to come and pick the car up, this time by both the dealer at California superstores, valencia, CA and by the corporate people at Chrysler, and told there was no fix for the problem. The car just randomly shuts off while driving it. I opened a claim withchrysler corp. About the car stalling out but have not heard back about any fix or recall. The car is unsafe to drive and I am not receiving any help from the dealer or Chrysler corp. I paid almost $38,000 for the car and do not even want to drive it or have my family in it due to the possibility that it could stall again (it has happened several times), the steering go out, and cause an accident harming us or other drivers on the roadways.
Upon warming up to operating temperature, the engine shuts off of our Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. It has 81,000 very well cared for miles on it. This has happened at almost every conceivable speed (0-5mph, 10-25mph, 40-50mph, 55-80mph) and, at the most inopportune times, ie; pulling into a gas station, merging with traffic, entering an intersection, coming to or leaving a stop light, driving at steady roadway or highway speeds. My wife was nearly killed several times due to the sudden and utter loss of all power. This can and does happen on every type of road or street or highway and in every type of weather. This happens on a regular basis although there are times when we can go a week with no episodes. Upon a little investigation, I have come across multiple sites and forums where many, many people have this exact same problem. Some have taken it to the dealer where they scratch their heads and say the problem can't be duplicated. Others have spent much money on mechanics and parts only to have the problem persist. Others have attempted to fix the problem themselves with only marginal results at best. This problem occurs in a broad spectrum of production years and across a wide variety of Jeep models with the v8 and straight 6, although other engines have had similar episodes. In the field below, I am using yesterday's date as the last time this has happened although it has happened at least 40 times in the last year.

Vehicle engine unexpectedly quits while driving at all speeds form urban to highway. Almost encountered a collision on the highway and at an urban intersection due to engine shutoff. This has occurred several times and so far Chrysler dealer has been unable to fix the problem.
While driving the engine will shut off without warning causing a loss of control of the vehicle. The vehicle has a new battery and all electrical functions of the vehicle work except the engine. Vehicle may restart after a period of time. This has happened at all speeds and driving conditions while in driving lanes. City, highway, intersections.
Engine shut off while decelerating from 40mph at aprox. 15mph while coming to a stop sign. This has happened as recently as last month. All instruments, radio etc. Remained powered. No warning lights. Dealer can't seem to identify issue. Previous recall for fuel relay was completed in 2014. Previous NHTSA id number: 10783730.
The engine shuts off randomly while driving.
I bought my vehical used in June. (2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with 160,000 miles) I took it back to dealer where they told me the battery had issues and they "fixed" the problem. I'd be driving and if I came to a stop I would lose all power and my engine would turn off. At a drive through, it would die, at a stop light, die. In October my issues started up again. Now the same things are happening but every light on the dash lights up, flashes/flutter/flickers, headlights shut off, radio shuts off, hvac system shuts off, but engine will run for about 20min then I lose all power where ever I am, I'll be driving down the highway going 55mph and the engine shuts off. Pulling into the store engine shuts off. On my way to work engine just shut off while going down the highway. Coasted as far as I could to get to a safe place to stop. Now it won't start again.
