I was on my way home from work at 1145pm when out of no wear the headlights went out ? the turning signals worked but headlights went out and wouldnt come back on, this has happened a few other times but when I had the autoshop look at it they couldn't find a issue? tonight when the headlights shut off I couldnt see anything causing me to go into the ditch and back on the road causing damages to front bumper ,radiator, undercarriage!!! this is a dangerous issue and when I talked to other Jeep owners they have the same issues !!! my Jeeps been in texas , iowa , new york, florda . . . . I had a Ford with this same issue and they fixed it beacuse it was a safty issue as it was a infernal motherboard issue! Jeep you need to fix the Jeeps of buy them back for top book value for their year! attached is photo of the headlight out and bumper damage.

At random times while driving, while in park, and just after startup, all dashboard gauges, lights, and power goes out, headlights turn off, but the engine still runs. I cannot see what is in front of me at night, I cannot tell my speed, I cannot see my fuel level, etc. The outage lasts from 2-30 seconds before every single warning light will illuminate for a few seconds, or flicker on and off, and then return to normal. I replaced the ignition 2 years ago from a previous recall notice. This is extremely dangerous because I never know when it will happen, it could happen at night on a heavily trafficked street and I lose all power and lights!.

While driving my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee one morning while it was still dark I noticed that the drivers side head light went out and came back on intermittently. The next morning I tried again and all the lights went in and out completely. Providing a very dangerous satiation not only to me but other driver's. I made an appointment with the dealer (had to wait one week to get it in to service). They checked it out and said they needed to order a part and gave the Jeep back and would call when they had the part. When we took it back for the repairs they kept the Jeep for three weeks trying to fix the problem. Saying they could not figure out the fix after Chrysler told them to change a part in the computer system. When that did not work they contacted Chrysler and got a technician who advise that the headlights were the problem. The dealer change out the headlights and charged us $917. 88 for the repairs saying it was not covered by my extended warranty. I truly believe this is a Chrysler problem with electrical issues, wiring or computers and should be covered by Chrysler not by individual owners. This is substantiated by all the complaints for the same type of problem.

Was driving my Jeep at night with my infant in the back seat, 55mph. Suddenly all the lights in the dashboard and parking assistance lights in the back all lite up. At the same time the heater stopped working and my headlights went out as well. They came back on about 5 seconds later. I continued to drive when it did it again. I switched the lights out of auto. The same problem occurred again but this time the head lamps did not go out, all the warning lights on the dash still flashed and heat went off. It resumed the whole way home but never fully lost power. It still does this on a daily basis, multiple times. I feel as if it's getting worse but no one can diagnose and figure out what's wrong with it. Considering the airbag warning and others(all of them) light up, I'm concerned for my safety and my sons. Today as I was driving it seemed worse. Even turn signal lights are effected when this happens. Today my speedometer, gas gage. . . Everything on my dashboard lite up and my meters quit working. It all resumed as normal after it happened but it happened approximately 15 times during a 10 minute drive. Sometimes back to back to back. It also happened while sitting at a stop light when I noticed my turn signals also went out at that time, while stationary and while turning. Happens no matter if stationary or in motion.

I bought my vehical used in June. (2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with 160,000 miles) I took it back to dealer where they told me the battery had issues and they "fixed" the problem. I'd be driving and if I came to a stop I would lose all power and my engine would turn off. At a drive through, it would die, at a stop light, die. In October my issues started up again. Now the same things are happening but every light on the dash lights up, flashes/flutter/flickers, headlights shut off, radio shuts off, hvac system shuts off, but engine will run for about 20min then I lose all power where ever I am, I'll be driving down the highway going 55mph and the engine shuts off. Pulling into the store engine shuts off. On my way to work engine just shut off while going down the highway. Coasted as far as I could to get to a safe place to stop. Now it won't start again.
This is the second time our headlights have burned out. Also the tail light. The car isn't that old and is not driven but a few miles a year now we have retired. The ignition at different time will not start it will just keeps turning like it is not getting gas. I brought this to the attention at the dealers when the car was only 35,000 miles but they said we didn't have our foot on the brake totally, well it still does it at 48,000 miles and we do have our foot on the brake; it doesn't do it everytime, but it does it aleast once or twice a week. We are just sitting in the car ready to go somewhere' we realize the warranity is out but when we told them it wasn't. The first headlight went out the first 15,000 miles. We have owned cars for 10 years and lights have never gone out. Can you help us with these problems?.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the rear driver side headlight failed to illuminate. The dealer replaced the bulb twice, but was unable to provide an extensive diagnosis to determine if there was an internal electrical failure. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v115000 (electrical system) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable timeframe to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not provide a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. My 2005 Grand Cherokee has on several occasions turned itself off while driving down the road. The last time this happened was at night and raining and the windshield wipers, headlights and everything shut off for several seconds while driving down the road. Because of this a tractor trailer pulled out in front of me with my children in the car and we were nearly killed. I had no lights, windshield wipers, the brakes and steering were very difficult etc. I took it to the dealer today and they stated that there is a recall for this however no fix for the issue at this time?!?!?!?! this is completely unacceptable as my vehicle is completely useless, it is not worth my families lives to take the chance of driving it.

After reading many other complaints I see that my vehicle seems to also be suffering from a faulty tipm. My first attempt to start the car most days is met with what seems to be a lack of fuel but every other attempt to start the car the same day is successful without incident. There is no consistent time, speed or temperature related to what happens when the car is traveling. The dashboard lights up, radio, a/c, turn signals and headlights turn off and seat belt alert sounds. Only once has vehicle lost power briefly. When I first purchased this vehicle in 2012 the dealer cold not find the source of the problem. Now it is happening much more frequently but before I take it to the dealer and pay for the tipm I want to verify that it is a recall item. Another issue that began recently is the front passenger door would not close if opened from the inside unless we pull the exterior handle twice. I was told that this was not covered and would cost around $600.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee hasn't been starting regularly for about 3 months. Four days ago the headlights turned off while I was driving, yesterday it wouldn't start at all. Currently having the tipm replaced to the tune of $1100.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 45 mph, the lights on the instrument panel and the headlights turned off. In addition, the power windows and interior lights failed to operate without warning. The failures occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 90,000.
I was driving on California state route 20 eastbound in the curves past the omega rest stop, at 6:00 am, when all of the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated. The instrument lights went out, and several seconds later illuminated again, they when out again and illuminated a third time, at which point the headlights on the car shut off. It was a very frightening event. I was able to flick the steering wheel headlight control and the lights came back on. I immediately took my foot off of the gas when the headlights went out, because I was in a curve section of a mountain highway. Luckily, a pull out was a quarter mile ahead and I was able to get off the road. I called aaa roadside assistance and they dispatched a tow truck to tow the car back to grass valley/nevada city. Two warning lights remained on the dash until the lights were turned off and the car towed. A light on the upper right with a car and a swag and a light in middle. Abs ? at the local repair shop, they found no codes to indicate any type of failure. The car has been taken since to magnussen's Jeep dealer in auburn, California and they have been unable to detect any problem. A similar event happened to my husband in 2008 approximately and the repair facility was unable to determine a problem. I have worked in truckee, CA and have commuted to work since 2001 on this road in several vehicles( (including two other Jeeps). I have never had a similar incident and I believe it is a serious safety issue. When the repair facility was unable to detect a problem, my husband and I began looking into the problem on this website and others and believe that our incident is not unique and reflects a substantial defect with this vehicle. Additionally, our compound low gear has not worked since the last recall was performed at the Jeep dealer in roseville, CA.

The manufacturer was notified of he failure. The failure mileage was 35,000. Ss.

I am currently leasing a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee - the lease started in may 2013. Since driving the car off the lot I have had constant problems with the radio/navigation/bluetooth and back-up camera - none of them work 90% of the time. The car often wont turn off even after turning it off (ie radio wont go off headlights wont turn off). I have taken the car in twice for repairs and the problems are no better. I have 2 other friends with the exact same car and the exact same problems.
Jeep has an issue with my 2013 Jeep cherokee, wherein the electrical system fails, headlight(s) turn off and other systems (radio/nav) reboot. I on my fifth attempted fix for the same issue. Car is still in shop (I am in my third week of a rental). Obviously, headlights that go out on their own (and stay out) is a significant safety issue -- it's more than an annoyance. I have been warned by police already, but safety of myself and others is the larger issue.
Had my Jeep for about 4 years now, and I've recently had many issues with it. For one, there's a recall, which parts are not available right now for an orc sensor. The recall letter said there may be a chance that it could cause an electrical distress on the computer. Now, I don't know if these caused many electrical issues or not, but I'd like to see something done about it. Around later November 2012 I took the Jeep to get the ac/heater work because it wasn't working. Paid $400. 00, labor and parts. Also got my signal lights fixed, because they weren't working either. Few months pass, now its March 2013. The signal lights work when they want, even after getting it fixed. The right signal light works fine, the left works when it wants. My driver foglight went out. I dont have a bad bulb so what is it? few weeks later, driver headlight goes out. Again, no blown bulb. Few more weeks pass, and my ac/heater stopped working again. Why? also, the driver tail light, at times goes out. No bad bulb. I feel as if I give it more time, the problem is just going to get worse. We need to look into this problem.

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo with the 4. 7 v-8, every light on the dash lights up, flashes/ flutter/ flickers, head light shut off, radio shuts off, hvac system shuts off, but engine still runs. Continues to do this over and over and over again. . Read more...
09/29/2008 Jeep taken to garage for head light failure nothing found. 03/09/2012 to 11/07/2012 all indicator light flash exterior lights flash. Been to the dealership three times for numerous days at a time they can not find anything wrong still having this problem. Really not good when it is dark out and you don't have headlights. At 15,000 and 35,000 I had to have the shift modular replaced because all the car would basically go in to neutral when being driven. I would have to pull over and turn the car off and restart it. The first time it was at the dealership for three days they could not find a problem and sent it home only to have to return 2 days later with the same problem. As I have found many people on line with these same issues makes you wonder first why these issues can't seem to be fixed, second why there has not been a recall. It is truly a miracle that no one I have heard of has been injured or killed because of these defects. When the Jeep is working I love it. If I had a hope and a pray of getting a new vehicle I would trade in my paid off Jeep in a heart beat so that I wouldn't have to constantly worry that it stop running or that I will be driving blind in the dark. Sadly I didn't even touch on the other electrical issues I. E. Window that had to be fixed remote keyless issues it is sad that the company doesn't do anything about these things this will be my last Jeep. I feel that these problems are dangerous for me, my family and anyone that is on the road with me and other Jeep owner with the same issues.
