When filling the gas tank, the gas pump clicks off constantly. It happens at multiple gas stations and with different style pump handles. I have to remove the gas pump from the tank and rotate it in order to put gas in my vehicle. I've taken it to the dealership twice for this issue since I bought the Jeep new in 2018. It has been happening consistently and I've read about others having the same issue with the capless gas system in this particular model and year. The dealership does not know how to solve the issue, I fear that I will be in a position that I can not put gas in my vehicle due to this issue.

About a year ago I was no longer able to put gas in my car unless I inverted the handle of the pump. I finally took it to Dodge to get it fixed. I had a previous Dodge vehicle that had a similar issue with the filler neck and it was fixed on a recall. I was expecting this to be the same, but the dealer told me it was a bad gas tank and needed replacing for several thousand dollars. They replaced the gas tank and it did not fix the problem! now they are saying Chrysler is blaming the gas pumps, and they have no solution to the problem, after charging me for a new gas tank! they need to determine the cause of this problem with their design, and fix it via recall, and reimburse me for unnecessary repairs which did not fix the problem. I have been advised that many cars are coming in with this problem including durangos. I also have a 2020 Jeep I just bought and that vehicle has had this same issue a few times.

I have a leak in my gas tank. I stopped at a gas station to put gas in it and noticed a leak coming from my gas tank before I started filling it. It was dripping off gas tank cover. . . .

Had several issues with this rented vehicle still running after pushing button to stop vehicle when parked. Family members told me your car is still on at least 3 times. Had issues when stopped at an intersection. The vehicle seemed to die & was very delayed when starting to go again-required more pressure on gas pedal than usual. Had issues while filling the vehicle with fuel. Several times the pump would cut off (approximately 10 times) indicating that the tank was full when I knew it wasnt. Had a severe issue resulting in damage to the vehicle & the aloha island mart at 50 pakaula st. Kahului, hi 96732 gas pump. I stopped to fuel up in order to return the rental vehicle to budget rental car (865 w mokuea pl, kahului, hi, 96732), I put the vehicle in park, pushed the button to stop the vehicle to turn off the motor. Exited the vehicle to get the credit card out of my purse which was in the back on the floor board in a beach bag I saw that the vehicle was rolling back. There was no slope to the parking lot, it was level ground. I jumped back in the vehicle with left foot outside the vehicle and put my foot on the brake to stop it, it went out of control backwards. Thankfully I got my left foot in and had to use both feet on the break to stop the vehicle. Put the vehicle in park & turned it off again. The door & driver front quarter panel sustained severe damage from hitting the gas pump which also received damage. Although the pump was in workable condition once the vehicle finally started & was moved. This could have resulted in severe bodily damage to myself as well as more vehicle & bodily damage if someone had been behind me at the next pump. Needless to say I was terrified, shaking uncontrollably & the thought of what could have happened. After reading the complaints & recalls on the Jeep Grand Cherokee I feel this one should be added.
I've been having issues filling up my tank almost since the beginning of my purchase of my 2017 Grand Cherokee. I am looking for answers as to why it is so hard to fill my vehicle with gas. . . .
Gasoline spewing from top of tank after filling. Seems to be coming from top of tank - vent tube. I cannot find a recall on this item on the NHTSA website but I found a recall campaign 00v195000. The dealer denies that this recall exists. Dealer is hill-kelly in pensacola, FL. Happens when vehicle is stopped at gasoline pump/service station.

I have only owned the vehicle for 5 months. When filling the gas tank on several different occasions at several different pumps, the pump stops like the tank is full even though I just started pumping. Also randomly the backup camera does not display and then the entire infotainment system shuts down and restarts while going down the road or while in reverse.
At a gas station, with the engine turned off. On 3 different occasions, when filling up my gas tank, when I start pumping gas, the tank stops taking gas as if the tank is full. In order to continue filling the gas tank, I have to hold the gas hose handle in a specific position to allow the gas to fill the tank without stopping. Results in filling the tank at a very slow pace. Unsure if there is a sensor issue within the gas tank itself. Occurs randomly.
Having reoccurring issue with filling my tank up with gas. I've tried on several different pumps but it will not pump and spills out even though I've just started and my tank is only about a quarter filled. Not sure how to fix it as I have to spent 20 minutes at a time to fill the tank. Every $0. 20 the pump stops. Not sure if the issue is the same as the renagade or not but there is an issue with the gas cap sensor.
Vehicle stationary at gas station, using gasoline 87 octane and filling vehicle, after about 8 gallons fuel spits out of filler neck and pump stops, I have to slowly and repeatedly squeeze pump to get tank to fill. Had the same problem with my 2008 Jeep wrangler a few years back. When fuel spits out of filler it spits on me and the ground potentially causing fire hazard and definitely bad for the environment.

The engine (5. 7 hemi) shuts off shortly after filling up the tank. Its happens 3 times each time after fully filling up the gas tank. Engine will shut off (no stuttering) while driving just half mile (city driving) from the last fill up. The engine will start right up once the car comes to a stop and doesn't happen again until fill up.

I presently don't have a picture of the gas pouring out from the gas tank area. I can get you one upon your request. Their is already a investigation on my Jeep in the works. The problem is getting worse. The fumes are making me sick from within. My gas tank is leaking from somewhere. I've was pulled over from a stranger on the road after filling the tank up twice in one week last week. The man said my gas is leaking out. I ask how he knew and his response was my fumes were coming into his car and my tank under the Jeep was wet. I got out and went to investigate to see fuel pouring out from underneath the gas tank. I immediately drove home and parked my Jeep. I observe dead grass in my yard also where its parked. This type of smelling of fumes and witnesses of my fuel wasting on the ground is a consists occurrence from strangers. Both traveling on the streets of daytona beach florida, parked at my friends house as well as my own yard.
On Friday, October 31, 2014, less than one week after taking delivery of the car (it was new),I was unable to pump gasoline into the fuel tank. Attempts to pump gas directly from pumps at a couple different gas stations (and one time attempting to use the "funnel" provided for filling from a gas can) resulted in the fuel filler neck backing up, dumping fuel on the side of the car and my hand. My car dealer has informed me that they intend to replace the fuel tank to resolve the problem. . The automobile has a cap-less gas filler system. The car was delivered new with a full tank of gas so it appears to have developed the problem after delivery.
I noticed I was filling my tank more then I should have . Then the smell of gas was very strong when I took the car for a recall on the gas tank? I told them to please check for leaks that was in 2008 they said nothing was wrong and what they fixed will stop any leaks . Well driving with my kids in the car we were at a red light and the smell was sooo strong I got out to check the problem the car behind me came over and said if he can help and also noticed the strong smell at which he advised me not to drive this vehicle it is a hazard to my family and the public so their was a mechanic shop down the street ao I left it their they check it the day after and said this has something to due with the dealer and try to contact them because it would cost me 360. And see if maybe Chrysler has any recalls on this vehicle I did contact Chrysler and told them everything but they said they have nothing to due with this and if their was an accident or fire that would have caused harm then they would send a investigation unit but for know that's really my problem . .

After having the gas tank replaced in mid July of 1999, I noticed after driving for over 100 miles, the gas needle on the dash would not move off of full. When I checked the overhead computer to determine how many miles I had until empty, it still showed the maximum. The problem was reported to the dealership in jacksonville and was supposedly taken care of. Last night, my wife and 14 month old child were driving down I-10 and with a 1/4 tank still showing, the car just quit. It had apparently ran out of gas. My wife had to get someone to take her to a gas station and get some gas. After filling up, the same problem appeared as before. My wife was able to drive over 100 miles again without the gas needle moving off of the full position. The day before, my wife had only driven about 150 miles before the car needed to be filled up again. I believe the problem is directly related to the "check engine" light that is being serviced for the 3rd time now.
Defective gas gauge: gas gauge states vehicle has 1/4 tank of gas after filling up gas tank.
