The welds on the driver's seat have broken causing you to move upon turning the Jeep or rocking back and forth, I've had an 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same issues.
Front driver seat mounting bracket/track break complaint: vehicle was stationary and in parked in a parking lot of my work. I was just getting into the vehicle when the front left driver seat bracket broke causing the seat to immediately start rocking side to side and towards the back. Upon inspection the bracket itself failed at a designed bend in the bracket just before the bracket attaches to the seat power sliding bracket. Material appears to be made of 1/8" metal problem: after time the bracket holding the driver/passenger side front seats to the frame of the vehicle begins to crack and break leaving the seat to rock and move as the vehicle is driven. This will lead to the seat possibly becoming disconnected from the vehicle frame in the event of a crash. File labeled: left brkt-driver seat - broken - is of the broken bracket. This part is on driver side towards the door. File labeled: right brkt-driver seat - nrml - is of the opposite bracket. This part is on driver side towards the passenger seat.
I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I came to a stop yesterday and the seat shifted forward and now rocks. I looked under it and the seat bracket broke. I looked into it on internet and it seems to be a very common problem with this vehicle. I contacted Chrysler but they were very unhelpful.
Driver's seat bracket (track) has an upside down " l" shaped metal bracket or support from the track to the seat which broke in two at the bend of the l. Happened while city street driving.
I reported this problem a month or so ago about the front driver's seat breaking and breaking off the vehicle frame. Plus the a/c issue under the glove compartment overheats and melts the mechanism and continues to burn. When I reported the issue, no wreck was involved. Since reporting the problem, the vehicle was involved in an accident and totaled. My fix apparently allowed the seat to stay on the frame but the seat still broke. Fortunately, no serious injury, only sore neck and bump to the hand.

The front right side bracket under the drivers seat broke/snapped in half turning my drivers seat into a rocking chair making it very unsafe to drive. Bracket snapped while I was driving. Seat just dropped two inches to the right while driving. Now, I am concerned about a collision and then the seat just flying off turning me into a crash test dummy. This is not the first time this has happened on this vehicle. This same exact thing happened in 2013 so I went to a junk yard and purchased a replacement seat and had the entire seat replaced. Now, three years later I have to go thru the same process and hope the junkyard can get me another seat. This is a joke really that this issue has not caused a recall on the 2004 Jeep. After reading the forums on the web, something should be done about it. Someone is going to get into an accident, the seat is going to fail and Chrysler is going to get sued, big-time.
The driver seat bracket snapped loose at the rear left side that holds the seat to the frame while driving. I was making a right hand turn when I heard the seat frame break. Now when driving the seat is very loose and makes a clicking noise with lots of unstable seat movements.

Bracket on driver seat, bracket at left front corner of seat broke. . . . Have heard of several complaints about this same thing happening with other Jeep owners. . . . Dealer repairs range from 400. 00 to 900. 00. . . .
Driver side electric adjustable seat bracket broke, making the seat wobble and rock from side to side and back and forth. It appears that this is adding stress to the other connecting points on the bracket and will eventually render the seat inoperable. The broken seat bracket is a hazard to safe driving.
The drivers seat bracket holding chair has broken from regular use. While parked, I leaned back in my seat and a bracket on the front left that connects to the frame holding chair to the floor broke. This has caused the seat to become more of a rocking chair, wobbling back and forth. To my surprise a defect such as this does not warrant a recall. I wish Chrysler addresses this problems that seems to be common among some of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. If the drivers seat breaks loose from the floor during an impact or rollover, the driver could easily be thrown from the vehicle while still strapped in his/her seat. The problem seems to get worse making the car unsafe to drive.
While driving the drivers seat started to lean toward the passenger side, I slowed the Jeep down and pulled over to the side of the road. I did not see any obvious damage to the seating brackets/mounts. I continued to drive and the problem progressively got worse. The Jeep was taking to the auto shop on Jan 2, 2014 and the mechanics tightened the brackets. Jan 4 the same problem occurred again and again is progressively getting worse. Due to finances I am unable to get the entire seating system fixed.
Driving with 12 year old daughter in car. Making turn onto highway and driver's seat lurched backwards with loud "pop" sound. Almost lost control of car and scared the daylights out of my daughter. Pulled over and seat is loose of frame. There is a crack in the steel bracket where seat attaches to seat frame. I went online and saw this is a common defect in Jeep Grand Cherokees. Kind of ridiculous that this problem hasn't already been corrected. I have never owned or even heard of a car where it is common for the seat to break from its frame.
The driver seat in my vehicle had started to become loose and further inspection showed a broken seat bracket. . Read more...
I was getting into the vehicle and the seat frame broke dislodging the seat on the driver's side.
Front driver seat track broke and car is a hazard to drive. Dealer says it cost $1200 to repair.
Driver side seat bracket is broken. My seat bracket broke during normal use and I am average weight. Apparently 1,000's of these are broken and many people on the internet are complaining about it. The broken bracket allows the seat to wobble and possibly fall back while driving. Bracket is made of thin gauge steel. This is a very dangerous problem, please investigate.

While driving my seat suddenly moved forward and to the right. What I found was that the seat bracket broke causing the seat to move. After looking on the internet I found that this is a common problem on this make and model of vehicle. This is a saftey issue as it affects your driving position and in my case broke while I was driving. In addition, as you go around corners you now move/slide in the seat as it is no longer level.
The drivers seat is broken. The break appears to be somewhere between the seat and the frame, probably at the brackets. This is both a safety issue (seat could break off in a collision) and a comfort issue (the seat is crooked, causing back issues and discomfort).
Drivers seat is broke, cant find a replacement, salvage yard said this is a common problem for Jeeps.

The main metal frame of the driver's seat has broken. Drivers seat has a rocking motion and will most likely not hold up to a rear end collision at any speeds.

Driver side seat broke off at frame. This has happened twice. There does not seem to be a solution by Jeep to repair this problem. There are no parts either new or used available to make repairs. Was told by the dealer that this is a common problem.
Driver seat broken rail. Seat started sqeaking then fell apart completely.
Drivers seat bracket failure for Jeep Grand Cherokee 1999-2004. Due to poor design the brackets which hold the seat to the floor board will break free and can cause seat to break free while driving. This is a common issue which the manufacture is aware of and chooses to do nothing. When the bracket fails the whole seet must be removed and the bracket replaced.
The driver's side seat bracket broke on the right side while driving with no apparent reason. The seat on the right side now slumps down to the right with a terrible angle. Driving the Jeep now means one has to sit @ very uncomfortable manner and constainly be on guard to not move or the seat will rock.
Driver's side seat breaks, making driving difficult and dangerous!.

Driver's seat frame broke. Garage welded it, but it broke again at 102,000 miles. Seat frames should never break! only vehicle I ever owned to have had this problem. Checked on line, apparently others have had this problem as well.
The motors on the front seats were broken when I bought it, and I noticed that the driver's seat seemed wobbly. Shortly after purchasing the Jeep the driver's seat brackets got worse, shifting when I got in and recently broke through. After the bracket broke, the airbag warning light began going off when I go around a corner or curve and the seat shifts. Began researching and found this was a common problem with many thousands of complaints. I've left instructions with my family to sue Jeep if I die or get seriously injured in an accident because I can't afford to buy a different car and can't sell this Jeep with a broken front seat.
I was driving down the road at about 40 mph and my seat started to wobble. I stopped the vehicle and looked at the seat. The seat bracket had broken. There was no known strain on the seat and no accident. I,m still at work so I havent been able to try and find replacement parts yet. A few months ago a coworker with the same vehicle had his seat break completely and he ended up laying down in the car.
My drivers seat has broken down and become very uncomforable, and the passenger side makes a clunk noise when someone sits in it during breaking and acceleration this is. One of the many things to have broken on this seat. Very poor quality!.
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo , I was driving to work 80 mph on the highway and all the sudden my seat driver broke I nearly crashed I spun three times before coming to a stop. . . . . . Two days later my bothers driver seat broke. I did some research online and this is a systemic problem. I am even considering legal action.
