2 Suspension Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/22/2020

I continue to have rocker arm and suspension bearing and tick tick tick sounds after two separate repairs. All of the items should have been replaced not just one or two. It is a 12 dollar part. The labor to disassemble and reassemble car is astronomical. Have been without car two times for over 15 days. Totally unsatisfactory.

3 Suspension Noise problem of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/23/2020

The compressor for the air suspension overheats causing a clunking noise from the left driver side of the engine compartment and is the suspension to not work at all leaving you in park mode exit/enter and you get a flash code of service air suspension immediately . This is very similar to some of the problems they had with 2011 and 2012 models of Jeep Grand Cherokee they need to offer a standard conversion kit fix to fix these Jeep because the air suspension is not perfected and very dangerous.

5 Suspension Noise problem of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/30/2020

Current issue - while waiting in a fast food line the battery light came on. . . After receiving food - I pulled into a parking spot and before I could turn the vehicle off, it started giving off error codes related to various electrical items not being available - first warning - svc. Air suspension - second - blind spot detection not available - third evic error - fourth - adaptive cruise not available. . . Then died and smelt like burning rubber when I exited the vehicle. . . A failed effort by roadside service to jump the vehicle did manage to turn on the windshield wipers which wouldn't turn off but that's all that accomplished so I had roadside service put it on a flatbed and tow it to my house since nothing was opened and I didn't want to leave it somewhere with the windows down (of course they wouldn't roll up). . . Pretty clearly this should be part of the t39 alternator recall that was issued due to bad diodes which cause the alternator to fry the electrical components with very little warning. . . The car should die and then the replacement of the alternator should rectify the situation. . . Not - the light comes on - the car immediately dies - and then you need a new pcm or ecm and all new wiring. . . Issue #2 - the suspension has been a total fiasco accumulating $13,000 in dealer assessments not under warranty - the whole system has gone out within 80,000 miles and even after replacing 2 air struts - 2 upper control arms - the tie rods end links - and the cv axles - and the compressor - it still sounds like a rickety bucket of junk. . . When driving - always. Issue #3 - the water pump continuously fails. - not sure if when driving but one would suspect that to be the case.

6 Suspension Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

About two months ago my suspension started to act up. Now my suspension is stuck completely at the lowest point. The engine has a ticking sound and now it doesnt run right.

7 Suspension Noise problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/25/2019

The 2001 Jeep just came to a stop while it was being driven on the highway. It had always had engine issues. The front wheel suspension on the passenger side of the 2001 Jeep cherokee laredo is bent and while driving it on the street or highway it causes the vehicle to pull to the left and is unstable when driving it on a highway or street. The engine has a knocking sound whenever it is running. The brakes to the vehicle has been slipping and making a grinding noise while driving it. Sometimes the Jeep doesn't want to drive over 70 mph when driving in the highway or street. We have had to replace the brakes because they started smoking while driving on the highway. There is electrical issues with the car as well where the radio doesn't play as well as other electrical parts don't work. My 2001 Jeep has stopped while my husband was driving it on the highway and it is not drivable. I have had to replace the ignition coil and spark plugs many times for many years. There has always been a water leak on the passenger side dripping whenever the car is in motion, coming from the dashboard onto the carpet since the car was purchased. There may be other issues with the 2001 Jeep that I have missed.

8 Suspension Noise problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/22/2019

My Jeep was driving just find until a couple days ago. I heard a gnarly pop and pssssssstttttt noise from the right front of my car. Luckily I just pulled into my dads driveway, since I thought my tire popped and was hissing air out. I get out to find that my front air suspension, on both sides, was done for. . . It is currently in the shop and awaiting inspection. I read that this has happened to many Jeep gc owners which is ridiculous, and Jeep/mopar should look into this further! hopefully the repairs don't cost me an arm and leg, because I am fresh out. . .

9 Suspension Noise problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/27/2019

I purchased my Jeep gr cherokee summit oct 23rd 2018 and it has had suspension problems since I got it. It make a horrible grinding noise when I either turn on or shut off the vehicle and it lasts for a few seconds. I was driving on the highway and service suspension immediately flashed on my dashboard and while driving on the parkway doing 75 miles an hours my car decided to start making a horrible noise like I was driving on the wake up strip on the side of the road and my little idiot light on the dash was flashing the little Jeep icon and it was trying to adjust the height at that rate of speed. For an over $60,000. Dollar truck, I expect more from it then to start to fail after picking it up from the dealer brand new. I went to the dealership, they told me that some kind of tube for the suspension was incorrectly installed backwards, fixed the problem and sent me on my merry way, only to have the exact same thing happen a few hours later. I am beyond pissed that this is happening to my truck with less than three thousand miles on it. I couldn't sell this truck to someone in the state that it is in!!!! Chrysler/Dodge step up and figure out the problem!!!!!!!!.

10 Suspension Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/21/2019

2018 - "service shifter" message pops up. Over $1000 I had to pay to replace it as it was just outside of warranty time. Past few years, in cold weather, the suspension creaks and cracks noises. Just yesterday, February 2019, less than 5 years old, "service air suspension immediately" pops up on my way home on interstate. Very bumpy ride all the way to my local dealership. I feel I was lucky when I made it, as the tops of the rear tires were angled inward. Apparently, one air suspension "bag" blew out. This resulted in the pump/compressor burning out. Having to replace both bags at the same time and the pump, over $4,300 repair for something no fault of my own and for something that should only happen in cars that are much older in my opinion. Looking online, appears to be many complaints about this. Will Jeep address this issue and maybe "recall" this system so we can be reimbursed? I am about to switch brands as soon as I get this one out of the dealership service dept and anyone else I ever come across who wants to buy a Jeep, I will tell them the horror stories from my current overland, my previous overland, with its 2011 model issues, and my unlimited wrangler issues before that. I don't hear any issues like these from friends and family with other brand vehicles.

11 Suspension Noise problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/21/2019

We were driving in the express highway pr 30, at a speed of 45 to 50 mph, in the direction of humacao towards caguas, we heard a loud noise at the back part of the vehicle (sound it as an impact). The vehicle started making a loud noise. We were able to control the vehicle and park in the area of stops for emergencies. When we inspect the vehicle we noticed that all the rear suspension was on the differential and the escape (muffle). The two structural supports on both sides of the rear suspension were broken. We called a crane and when we got to the flat bed we could see that the chassis had split on both sides of the vehicle. The structural basis of the crossmember in the chassis were broken. The force was so great that the crossmember broke the differential and the muffler. Once we get off the crane, we see the damage, the structural 2 base in the chassis are broken and the crossmember is over the differential and muffler. The 2 base for the crossmember, on the chassis, collapse and the crossmember broke the differential and the muffler. The crossmember bushing in the back is blend too.

12 Suspension Noise problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/22/2018

When starting the vehicle, it made a grinding sound. Then a dashboard message popped up stating that the air suspension needed servicing immediately. This same message appeared every time we started the car. In addition, while driving, another dashboard message popped up instructing to reduce speed to maintain proper vehicle height.

13 Suspension Noise problem of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/31/2018

Vehicle was stationary, sitting in parking lot after driving on highway for 4 hours. Air bag suspension exploded, causing very loud noise and vehicle suspension to drop to almost the tire. Vehicle inoperable after incident. Very hazardous to be near when air bag suspension popped/exploded.

15 Suspension Noise problem of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/12/2018

Bought my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee trailhawk used with 10,600 miles on it. Gas issues from the get when getting gas, the gas pump shuts off ever few seconds like the gas tank is full only allowing a few cents worth of gas to actually go in the vehicle. I have been to multiple gas stations and the same issue occurs at all of them, tried turning the nozzle to different angles and almost holding it all the way out of and in the tank, it does not matter though. Air suspension: after owning the Jeep for 3 months, one Monday morning when I turned it on to go to work a message popped up saying "service air suspension system immediately", mileage was at 14,990. I turned the vehicle off and one two more times before driving it, drove to work and restarted it after I parked, each time the same message came on immediately. I called the closest Jeep dealership, they said it was ok to drive and could not see the Jeep until the following Monday. Dropped the Jeep off, their system said the module was bad, they replaced it, this did not work. They contacted Chrysler, no fix has occured, multiple attempts but nothing has worked. 3. 5 weeks and still counting without my Jeep. The Jeep garage said they do not know how much longer bc they do not know the solution and are waiting on Jeep engineers to tell them what to try next. Sounds like the engineers are just trying experiments to see what will work. When waiting on the module to come in the first week I asked if I could drive it until the piece came and was told it was not safe to drive. Very unpleased.

16 Suspension Noise problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/24/2016

The front suspension on the summit is an adjustable air bag system. When set to level two there is a loud banging sound when traversing even the smallest bumps such as a speed bump or a bumpy gravel road construction exit to parking. Country to what the dealer says, excessive speed is not involved. If fact the system level auto lowers above 20 mph. This happens at one to five mph. It sounds like a sledge happen, literally metal to metal. This is not good. Dealer says" it's normal". I went on the Jeep forum and two responses to my post are that this does not happen to on their vehicles. Jeep garage forum has a few saying otherwise. Below is one of those posts that I trust is correct. I've had mine to two dealers three times. The first time they changed the right front shock assembly. The second two times it's now "normal". Lyle s. 10-09-2015 Jeep garage forum "you should take it to the dealer¿they won¿t do anything and tell you it¿s normal, but it¿s not. The noise you hear is the shock limiting out internally, not the airbag rebounding. It creates a ¿hammer¿ that will cause premature mechanical and electrical problems as well as body rattles. It will definitely crack or break shock and frame mounts if you use that mode very much. At about 10,000 miles it can cause the suspension cross arm bolts to loosen and allow the front end out of alignment. This could have resulted in a deadly crash. Their solution was to grease the unit bolts so the impact would not cause the attach bolts to loosen as easily. This is a terrible design that Jeep is aware of and expects us to accept. Had they demonstrated this flaw at the point of sale, I would have purchased something else. Hopefully, if enough people express strong dissatisfaction they will design a fix. ".

17 Suspension Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/11/2016

I believe there to be a defect with the air suspension compressor in this vehicle, and the same model from other years starting from 2011 until the current model year. At the time of submitting this complaint, there are approximately 200 orders of this part on back order across canada, and I was told it would take up to 2 months before the part is available for installation. This sounds like a manufacturing defect. I was simply driving on the highway when the display in the car told me to "service air suspension immediately". I drove straight to the dealer to check it out. This part needs to be investigated further as I am very clearly not the only one experiencing issues with major failure of this part, which is crucial to the safe operation of the suspension in this car. . 18 Suspension Noise problem of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/13/2015

Excessive engine knocking with power loss and abnormal driving capabilites. Sounds like bad internals. Suspension causes "death wobble" at cruising speeds. Engine happens anytime engine is running producing large quantities of smoke from tailpipe.

19 Suspension Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/04/2014

Noticed vehicle has creaking noise from the rear portion of the car. Especially when driving at low speed. Suspected was the rear suspension busing. Made an appointment at the dealership to check up.

20 Suspension Noise problem of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

Purchased 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland used in summer of 2012. 3rd Jeep and have stayed with Jeep because felt they were a safe reliable car. Shortly after purchase the car would sound like it was "computing" near the engine--while off and key not near car. Told this was normal. Alarm started to go off for no reason, day time running light on driver side stopped working (not bulb) and started working a few days later on its own. Car no start or hard start several times. Check engine lights on and off, key not found, etc. 5/19/14 exiting highway at approx. 75 mph (59,000 miles) brakes don't work. Car slows but won't stop. No light illuminated for brake problem. It was petrifying. Called dealer in morning and they indicated not warranty and not recall so ordered brake booster from dealer and replaced. Was without vehicle for several days. 5/28/14 driving approx. 75 on highway--dash lights flash, car shakes and shudders uncontrollably, screen reads service air suspension system and etc code. Exit highway car has no suspension. Stop make phone call and restart car and no lights, warnings, and suspension back. Driving 35 mph on busy city street (in front of school) car dash flashes and goes black--a red lightning bolt appears and the car shuts off while driving. No brakes, power steering, hazard lights, suspension, etc. I was terrified! pushed down accelerator and car starts back up (similar to depressing gas peddle on golf cart). Took to dealer and they replaced a brake sensor and the suspension worked. Said they could not replicate the car shutting off while driving. Tipm must be the cause based on 1000s of owners comment. Filed complaint with Chrysler today. Frightened for my safety and the safety of other cars, people, etc. Drive over 100 miles per day on highway. Can't obtain tipm part. Must use car to work but safety concerns with driving.

Failure Date: 07/01/2001

I bought the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee car brand new, one year later we had to have the rotors replaced, six months later we had to replace the brake pads. Six months after that, the automatic door lock on the diver's side started making loud screeching noises whenever you lock and unlock the door, a dealer looked at it and estimated $700 to have it repaired. We've been having fron suspension problems, and the transmission makes a humming sound when it's in reverse. What's next?.

23 Suspension Noise problem of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

24 Suspension Noise problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/01/1015

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee when turning right or left at slow speed it has an awful grind noise. Also when driving on uneven pavement has death wabble and terrible sway. I have replaced control arms sway arms you name it. The suspension on the vehicle feels unsafe and may pose as if your vehicle may roll over at any time. I certainly wouldn't recommend this vehicle. It seems this has been a constant complaint by many consumers but yet no recall.
