2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee springs for the struts are weak and can snap going over a bumps in road causing damage to the struts and replacement of both parts. I currently had this happen and was told by my garage they sees this so much from Jeep the parts are on backorder since they can not keep up with the demand.

Over the past three years my power windows slid down. One left rear a few years ago slid down as we were going down the road. Rt passenger side down about a year later. January 2nd my passenger side window did the same. I took it into the shop and mechanic said it was the regulator, it would be 300. 00 to fix it, he said yep that's common in Jeeps. I have a friend who has a 2002 Jeep, same problem with all four. . . . I'm a single mother, single grandmother that cant spare that kind of money. Yesterday 04/14/2009 I walked out to my Jeep to discover the window was down. Thought wow I don't remember leaving my window down because I have sound equipment I would hate to have stolen. It was chilly out that morning, tried to roll it up. . . . Guess what? now all of my power windows are broken due the regulators. Fuel pump, and injectors are my problem too. Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!! let me add the heater core to that. I love my Jeep. . . I take good care of it, it looks brand new. The oil is changed with the best money can buy and on time every time if not sooner.

While shifting from forward to reverse, front end thumps loudly. Took vehicle to dealer and was told there is a rubber spacer that has failed and that they would need to order the part. The dealer then informed us that this part was on back order and that we should be careful while driving, sue to the fact that if this connection where the rubber was breaks, it could cause us to crash. We have checked with several dealers and local mechanics and all state the same and that the part is still on back order.

The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving 60 mph the steering column was loose and the contact lost control of the vehicle when driving over a bump in the road. The failure mileage was 42900. The dealer on one of three occasions replaced the tracking bar and front steering damper. Also, the dealer stated that the steering column could be replaced at cost to the owner. The current mileage was 44200.

Contact stated the front end shook violently. The steering wheel shook from left to right. The dealer told her the Jeep had been brought to dealer at least three times prior to the contact's purchase of the vehicle for same problem, and they were unable to duplicate the problem. Updated 12/7/2005. Several front end parts have been replaced but that has not alleviated the shaking problem.
On September 10, 2005 while driving on the road and the vehicle shook. Originally thought it was a flat tire, but there was not a flat tire. Vehicle is at dealership, there are no codes showing up, have to wait for the problem to happen again, it shakes as if as going down road at 55 mph with a flat tire. The steering wheel was shaking and the vehicle seemed sluggish like it did want to go. When slowing down the vehicle the vibration would slow down. Then, on September 22, 2005 went to apply the brakes and the light came on in the dashboard . After another five or six miles the brake pedal started vibrating, but like a smaller vibration compared to the vibrating. The dealership is looking at the brakes now also.
While driving down the street at 15 mph and the front right tire came off, including the wheel and part of the axle. There was no warning before the accident. The tire hit a car that was empty. The police did not file a report. The owner went to the dealership, and told them about the problem. The dealer had the vehicle towed, and Chrysler was contacted. The Chrysler representative did an inspection. Chrysler sent a letter notifying the owner that there was nothing they could do. Dealership will not even give the owner a loaner vehicle. The problem was not reported to the insurance company. Owner did not feel that insurance company should be contacted since it will cause his insurance to go up. Dealer stated that there was nothing they could do, and they had no idea what could have happened. There were no injuries.
While backing out front end collapsed without warning.
My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee (gc) limited 8 cylinder quadradrive has given me nothing but problems since I bought it in October of 2002. I had the transfer seal replaced due to it leaking, the differential makes noise, the all wheel drive does not work (all wheel drive only works in low), and the tires lock up and make a noise when I am turning. It seems that their are other 1999 Jeep gc owners out there with the same problem. How about a recall to fix this problem?.

Rattling in front end over minor bumps. Shocks already replaced, front-end checks out by mechanic. Also, popping and slipping of front-end into turns at slow speeds and right after a turn. It sounds dangerously like front-end is going to fall apart. I heard it's expensive and everything checks out so I desperately need help before I discard the vehicle altogether.
Vehicle continues to pull right after 2 alignments. Random, loud mechanical clunk coming from right underside when going over small bumps or drop-offs. Brake pedal shudders again after having rotors replaced first, then more recently lapped via on-vehicle lathe. Steering ticks / clunks at random. Moan from under hood when turning at slow speeds. Acrid white smoke from under left hood getting into passenger compartment when spinning 4-wheels in snow.
When vehicle exceeds speed of 30/35mph and brakes are applied the front end and steering wheel shakes severely. Please provide more details.
Front end shimmy occurs when decelerating from highway speeds or slowing down. Took to dealer, and they've replaced brakes and rotors 5 times at 9000 miles. Problem is still occurring. Please provide any further information.
1. Transmission: having problems shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear until car is fully warmed; occasionally, the car stalled due to the gear not shifting properly;
2. Brake rotors: rotors warp within 12,000 miles; changed new rotors and pads three times;
3. Alignment: pulls to the right
summary: transmission & brake rotors are known problems by dailerchrysler---unsafe vehicle.

Jeep is pulling to the right. . Was told "its the crown in the road" by first dealer. Had it taken to another dealer. . Was told the alignment is off. . . So it was corrected. . Still does it. This is an ongoing problem. . These vehicles ablility to hold a straight line is like trying to pull a rabbit out of a hat. Magic. . Just an illusion that the dealer wants you to swalow up. . Crown in the road my ass.
Front of vehicle shimmies and steering wheel shakes at any time.
While driving vehicle will pull to the right. The faster the vehicle is going the more it will pull to the right. Dealership cannot fix problem. Ts.
I was driving on a rural road at about 50 mph when the car began shaking and the steering wheel jerked back and forth. The shaking became very violent and the wheel began traveling back and forth a good 12 - 14 inches. The car was bouncing up and down and shaking I tried to apply the brakes but the shaking was too rough and I lost control of the steering wheel. The car was all over the road and began going toward the right side and then went off the road. The shaking stopped and we rolled to a stop. If we had been in traffic I would have hit someone and if I were on the freeway the car would have rolled ! this happened suddenly. I take my Jeep in for all reguler and scheduled maintenance. I didn't have any warning the part was going to break and at the ted miles Jeep dealer where I take the car for service they said there is about a 10% failure on this part but they had not actually had one break suddenly before! I could have lost my life and others could have been injured . The shaking was so violent that the seams on the radiator were split and I had to buy a new radiator also. Since the shear force was so great I am left wondering if other parts of the front end and car in general are somehow damaged or weakened. I contacted Chrysler-damion corp. And they took the report on July 27th. I have medical injuries as a result of trying to control the steering wheel and being shook back and forth. I hope this gets addressed as a recal issue because they know it is a proplem but have done nothing about it!!!.
Vehicle pulls to the right. When driving, I constantly have to steer to the left so that the vehicle will go straight.
This is the 2nd time for the brakes shuttering. Also, always pulls to right.
After almost twice a month trips to the service provider and being told that my allignment was a result of my driving there was a recall posted for a part that caused allignment problems. Although this was eventually fixed, my tires suffered and had to be replaced very prematurely. After contacting goodyear and Chrysler I was told the tires were my responsibility and that the "bad" part would not have caused significant tire damage. I still feel that although the problem is better it is still apparent and I would like it to be resolved. After owning this car for less than 2 years the myriad of major component failures is rather frustrating especially when the Jeep service providers won't acknowledge the problem and seem to not care about their customers who pay their salaries. This is an embarressment to the american car industry.
There are alot of problems with this Jeep all witch I have proof of repairs, cam shaft, tires, brakes, alignment and humming at 65 mph.
Consumer noticed vehicle pulled very hard to right taken to dealer, and could not fix problem.
While traveling at various speeds vehicle pulls drastically to right.
Something in front of vehicle is causing noise, dealer stated possibly a differential problem, but consumer could drive an additional 6000 miles before needing repairs, however he also stated that it was possible for a defective bearing to freeze while driving. Serpentine belt replaced. Front brakes replaced. Air conditioner does not cool properly, dealer found no leaks.
The vehicle would shimmy at 60 mph, 3 out of the 4 goodyear eagle GA tires (p225/70r15) experienced tread separation, a few months after the tires were replaced, the vehicle began to shimmy again and the dealer performed a front end alignment.

When braking at high speedsjeep wobbles on front right side. Jeep was taken to dealership on August 4, 1999. There, the rotors were either turned/ grinded. Please provide any furhter information.
Vehicle experienced problems with pulling which caused the tires to wear prematurely.
On August 28, 1999, while driving, the steering wheel and front tires began shaking violently, the vehicle went out of control and jumpbed the curb on the highway, there was no damage done to the vehicle, however the driver who is pregnant experienced cramping in the stomach and was ordered by her doctor to spend the weekend in bed. The dealer stated that the steering gear was worn, the center link needed repair, and that both tie rods needed replaced. On October 9, 1999, the vehicle hit a sink hole causing it to shake violently and for the front end to wobble, the vehicle hit a guardrail and damage was done to the vechile. The cruise control didn't work properly. The airbag light was illuminated.
Several dealerships have not been able to resolve problem. Front tires are grinding away the interior wall of the wheel wells. Tire is now grinding on steel chasis and beginning to erode itself. Chrysler has no solution after 6-8 visits for repair in 4 months. Mechanics recommend the car not be driven until a solution can be found due to safety reasons. . . In the meantime I have purchased a new vehicle I can not drive and neither the dealership nor Chrysler will replace the defective vehicle. ( dot number: tire size: 245/70/r16 ).
Continued problems with vehicle. No safety defect (s) listed in summary.
It appears that something in the front end is out of alignment or out of balance, and that has been causing front end components to wear out. The symptoms are steering wheel shaking and rotors that wear/wap at an abnormally high rate, causing brake pulsation. To date the steering column/linkages have been worked on 4 times. The front and rear brakes have been serviced/replaced 8 times. At one point the steering linkages was so loose that any change in the road surface caused a change in vehicle direction.
