1 Air Bag On-off Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2016

Air bags did not deploy after making 2 impacts, totaling vehicle dear Chrysler/Jeep my name is aaron mcclenon and I have been the proud owner of a 2003 Jeep Liberty renegade. On June 3, 2016 I was struck by another motorist on my home from work. I commute every day from the southwest suburbs of chicago to downtown chicago. I have taken the upmost pride in my Jeep, providing regular maintenance. In the past 6 months I have spent over $1500 in replacements. I recently purchased 4 brand new tires, a new alternator, a new muffler, oil pressure switch and an evap sensor. I have also made purchases to customize my Jeep, by adding neon lights in the inside, seat covers, and a new stereo system. Asides from all the love and attention I put into my Jeep, there was something about my accident that scared me the most. After the other vehicle struck me, my Jeep kept on rolling, hopping a curb, narrowly missing a tree and hopping another curb and totaling my Jeep. I suffered a left knee contusion in the end. The real horror is that my air bags did not deploy. For my vehicle to make 2 large impacts and no air bags has left me with a complete distrust in the brand. If my life was at a higher risk or if I had struck that tree or any other vehicle on the road, it¿s sad to think that the one safety feature that could have saved my life, took no action. Yes, a product liability lawsuit is possible because of this, but I want to ensure 100% that they¿re may be thousands out there that put their trust in their Jeep, not knowing that it could possibly be a fatal mistake. -aaron mcclenon.

2 Air Bag On-off Switch problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2014

Did not start in the morning, was completely dead, check the battery and it was 12. 42 volts, check the fuses and the relays (switch some of them to see for any changes ) and they were ok too. To keep the story short, it was the starter, but when I was trying to start the car noticed that when leaving the key on in the last click prior to start position, like 10 seconds later the airbag light came on making a sound and stays on all the time. When I took the key out noticed that the fuel gauge moved to the full position, put the key again and went from full to empty and then start moving to the actual fuel quantity. I noticed that if I took the key before the sound and light of the aibag, the gauge works fine, so when I am driving and have to stop I turn off the car and the gauge move to full again so I have to put the key on and took it out before the sound and light of the airbag came out again to "reset the gauge to normal position ". One other thing my power locks did not work with the beeper or with the buttons when the car is turn of off. Only works when the key is in the cylinder and in the position prior to start the engine, works on both the beeper and the buttons, all of this happens in the same day.

3 Air Bag On-off Switch problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2014

When attempting to switch lanes, it felt as if the steering wheel locked and the vehicle began to swerve between lanes. I had no control over the steering, therefore the vehicle continued to swerve and eventually slid off road into a median full of trees. Once in the median, the vehicle began to roll over. The vehicle rolled 3 or 4 times, eventually coming to a stop passenger-side down. There was damage all over the body of the vehicle, including the front and sides. Airbags did not deploy. Vehicle was taken in less than a year ago to get fixed due to a recall on the air bag system, but airbags did not deploy during crash. I was taken via ambulance to a local trauma unit. Vehicle was totaled.
