1 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2020

My airbag light was illuminating intermittently. It then remained on. I am an engineer and check the codes. A code 0066 was presented. I changed the left front impact module, but same code and warning light were present. I did observe a strange things while diagnosing. Starting the engine will allow the airbag light to illuminate, system check, then extinguish but a few seconds later, light returns. The code cannot be erased. If I stop engine and immediately restart, the airbag light will cycle as normal but then remain off. When this happens, the code can be cleared, but if I stop the engine, remove the key then reinsert the key and start the engine the airbag light cycles then remains on with the code present. If I do the restart procedure, it will again cycle and remain off. The ocm was subject to a recall, I did bring to dealer initially in 2015, but parts were not available. I was called many months later and a repair was made, but I was not given any paperwork to prove this. The car is perfect with only 124,000 miles on it. It is well maintained.

12 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2015

On March 11, 2015 the local dealer installed recall campaing (m35) 'supplemental jumper harness to the airbag module control'. When unit was ready for pickup I noticed my 'warning airbag light' on, I ask why, their answers were "that light was already on" and "if you need further service we need authorization from Chrysler". Rescheduled another appointment to resolve the issued and/or removal of the part/alteration to my vehicle on 25 March, 2015. Again they denied service due to Chrysler denial to remove the previous part. Chrysler based their decision is "safety reasons", my question how can that be a safety reason if my vehicle was in perfect conditions before installation of such 'recall'. Now it's a safety reason. Again due to the fact after installation of part, I'm having problems with my "airbag warning light on".

14 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

We have Jeep Liberty with the airbag warning light on at all times. We took it several times to the dealer, and they tell us that there is a recall on the orc, and that they cannot do anything about until they do the recall, but that there are not parts available. In the meantime we are driving without knowing if that airbag is going to deploy it in the wrong time or is going to deploy at all in case of an accident. Is there any advice of how to get this problem fixed?.

21 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2013

On June 27 2013, my family and I were going to dinner approximately 6pm. We were about 1. 5 miles from home heading west on ok state hwy 51 (approximately 5 miles east of wagoner, ok) as I got to approximately 60 mph the dashboard airbag warning light flashed and dinged twice then the airbag deployed. I maintained control of the vehicle and only suffered an abrasion and bruise on the underside of my right forearm from the bag deployment. I immediately came home and contacted the Chrysler recall hotline number and have been assigned a case number and I was notified today (7/1/2013) that an investigator will be in contact with me within 24 hrs.

22 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/28/2013

While driving the car, the airbag warning light came on for 15 seconds, then went off for 15 seconds, then flashed back on and off following that timing sequence for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the light stayed off. I called Chrysler because I had received a recall notice in January 2013 about faulty air bags in this model, which could inadvertently deploy while the car was in motion. The representative told me that the part needed is a harness, however, the part is not yet available. She told me there is nothing I can do to fix the problem until the part is created. I was also told that there have been no incidents of airbags deploying inadvertently, but there is a risk it can happen, therefore the recall. However this is extraordinarily dangerous and the fact that Chrysler has no date for when the part will be available is unacceptable.

23 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

I received a safety recall notice earlier in the year. I believe it was sometime in March 2013. The recall was about an air bag system occupant restraint control (orc). Again, I received this recall notice in October 2013. I have called the Jeep dealer, [xxx] located on west market street in pottsville PA 17901 three times about this and have been told each time that the part is backordered and they will call me when the part comes in. The last call I made to them was on December 5, 2013 and was still told it was on backorder. When will this part be available as my airbag warning light has been turning on & off at different times over the last year? I want to get this fixed and wanted to know why this part is taking so long to be available. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

27 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2012

I was stopped at a red light during rush hour at ~4:20pm waiting to get on the freeway (san felipe and feeder road of 610 / houston, TX). My a/c was running but the radio was off. I heard the warning chime from the dash board and noticed my airbag warning light had come on. Roughly 5 seconds later while still stopped at the red light, both the driver and passenger side airbags spontaneously deployed. After the shock, I noticed my hazard lights automatically had come on and I think the engine had shut off. I put the car in park and exited the vehicle. Since my hands were on steering wheel during deployment they received the most direct blunt force trauma along with chemical burns (I later went to emergency room that evening). The car was towed to the nearest Chrysler dealership. Luckily I was not on the freeway traveling 70mph when it happened.
