1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2016

The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Liberty. The contact had not experienced a failure until after the vehicle was repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 15v673000 (air bags). A day after the repair, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted and was driven to the contact's residence and parked. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the speed sensor was replaced, but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the differential needed to be replaced. An independent mechanic took pictures of the differential and the contact took the part back to the dealer. The contact was waiting for a response from the manufacturer to determine a repair solution. The failure mileage was not available.

2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2016

I took my vehicle to the dealership to have the orc module replaced as part of recall campaing r06. The service writer informed me that after r/r of orc, they had to replace the front impact sensors, which was not part of the recall, and afterwards they could not communicate with the orc and it would cost me $100. 00 or so to have issue diagnosed. I couldn't afford it and now have no air bags. Also after leaving the dealership I noticed the pass. Seatbelt is in a constant locked position while the drivers side seat belt never locks even when brakes are applied. Fca said I wld need to pay for the diagnosis & if found to be related to the orc recall fca would reimburse me but I can't afford the diagnosis fee. So now I have to drive a vehicle with no air bags and no seat belts. How can this be considered a remedy to a recall situation? fca stated that it did sound like it would be related to the orc recall. If that is the case why should I have to pay for the diagnosis? it doesn't sound like to me that fca truly cares about the safety of their customers. Is there anything that can be done to get this rectified without cost to the customer? this happened in may of 2016 & I didn't know I could report the incident to anyone or should even question it until I spoke with a neighbor who used to work for a dealership who advised me to look into the issue further as he said it didn't sound right to him.

4 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

This complaint is due to the fact that I received a notice stating that there was a defective air bag sensor in our car but that there were no parts to fix it. When will this be resolved? why can a company continue to ignore regulations that require it to notify and then address manufacturing issues? the public puts their trust and money into the hands of these industry giants. We trust that they will provide us with safe and reliable transportation vehicles so that we might exercise our constitutional right to free travel. Recalls are designed to protect the consumer. Sending a notice out with no means to resolve the defect is not enough and is just not acceptable. We need our car to get to work and school. We cannot walk or buy a new car while we wait for the part to be created to fix our Jeep. This needs to be addressed. The air bag sensor light comes on everytime we start the engine.

5 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

I received a recall notice around the first of this year regarding my defective air bag sensor. I called and was told that the part was not available and I would be notified when it became available. I called again on may 6, 2013 asking again whether the part was available, and again told no. Now, it is going on 6 months since I've heard anything and my car will not pass inspection because of this. Now I have a rejection sticker on my car and I have no car to get back and forth to work and no one will help me with this.

6 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2004

Complaint received via e-mail. My wife, son, and I were involved in an accident. We hit an ice patch on I-80 east mile marker 128. We went down a bank and hit a tree head on at aproximatly 50 mph, and seat belts/air bags did not work. I contacted Jeep, and was told that an investigator would go and look at the Jeep, and they would get back to me. I then contacted the garage where my vehicle was being repaired, and asked the owner if the inspector had been there. I was informed that he was, and that he did not even know where the air bag sensors were located. A few days later, I recieved a letter informing me that the air bag did fail, and that it should not have gone off, my vehicle had $9000 damage at the front end. I am concerned that the vehicle was not safe for myself and family. . Read more...
