1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

My windows will not roll up and down. If I roll them down they will not come back up. My air conditioning went out and I had to drive , 45 minutes, home in 105 degree heat with no recourse . I could have passed out! there was a recall on the windows parts but I bought my Jeep used and the recall ended before I purchased it. If Chrysler diamler knows that there is an issue there should be no end date to the recall. Every vehicle should be repaired. What if I had a baby or child with me?.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/12/2015

I purchased a car from u. S. Auto sales in columbia, south carolina on June 12th 2015. The evening I took the car home the gas gauge was not at the empty mark and the car shut off and the check engine light came on. I took it back to the dealership and informed them of this and they proceeded to tell me that it is an ongoing Chrysler issue and to not let the gas tank to get below a quarter tank. They proceeded to reset the check engine light. 2 weeks later the check engine light came on again. So I took to a local auto store to have a diagnostics run and was informed that a wheel bearing was needed, a catalytic converter and a fuel line because at a certain level the gas will not reach the engine. Today in south carolina the temperature is well over 100 degrees and while I was driving my air conditioner stopped working. I have had more issues out of this car within the 30 days I have had it. I did purchase a warranty only to be told that I would have to bear some of the cost to fix a vehicle I just purchased. I am now waiting on a call from their mechanic once he gets the parts in to do the repairs. I believe I was knowingly sold a lemon. I was also told that if I had any issues with the car to bring it in and I will be given a loaner car. Well when I did bring it in I was basically told to get in line and wait because they had no loaner vehicles. Now I am basically stuck with a vehicle with no air and if the gas get past a half tank the car will shut off and if not repaired soon could potentially blow up with me and my children in it. Yes I have called the dealer to request another vehicle and was basically brushed off and told no.

4 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/10/2015

Turned left out of the doctors office, drove approximately 50 yards and attempted to stop at the stop sign (making a right). The vehicle's engine, however, began accelerating and despite applying extreme pressure to the brake, continued to move forward while the engine accelerated faster. I ultimately ended up throwing it into park and then turning off the ignition to kill the accelerating engine. I have no idea what the rpm was, but it was loud! this also happened 2 weeks ago (first time - very cold morning) and I ended up throwing it into park and turning off the key like today. Todays temperature was around 40 degrees. Fyi - I was in the process of making a right hand turn when this happened and had slightly turned the wheel. After the first incident, I began doubting that this had even happened. In hindsight, despite several blogs on the internet, I am absolutely positive that I did not push down on both the accelerator and brake at the same time. After todays incident, I immediately called our local car dealership to schedule an appointment and then attempted to recreate what happened. Under various scenarios I bumped the steering wheel cruise control buttons (while stopped, while stopping, while accelerating) but could not cause the runaway acceleration to repeat itself. We have an appointment at our local dealership this Friday, or as soon as we can drop it off. Candidly, I'm scared to drive this vehicle at this point!.

5 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/13/2014

2010 engine shut down with only 105,000 miles. I had replaced the egr valve covered under warranty when check engine light came on. Performed regular oil changes up until the engine failed. New replacement engine was installed in 2010. In septemeber 2014 engine failed again on the highway going 55 mph. Engine was diagnosed by crysler dealer as engine failure due to over heated rocker arm, cam shaft and lifters. Crysler is not offering any assistance this second time around. I am also out $1060 dollars payable to the dealer for thier diagnosis telling me something I already knew. Crysler customer service had told me to take it to the dealer before they would discuss any potential financial assistance. Now that the diagnosis is engine failure they are not willing to provide any aide. Information I have been gathering indicates this was not a good engine in either the 2005 or 2006 Libertys. I need some help pursiing help from crysler. Please advise.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/06/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4x4. The contact stated that vehicle would surge forward when shifting into any gear and the vehicle would also loose power abnormally. The egr (exhaust gas recirculation) valve melted, causing a burning smell to release into the vehicle. In addition, the gear shifter would shift out of park independently, causing the vehicle to roll away. The contact also stated that the rear passenger side door handle became defective, making it impossible to open the vehicle door from the interior of the vehicle and the abs, esp and traction control lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failures. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 101,000. . . . . Updated 06/18/12 the consumer also stated there was a problem with the control arm on the vehicle and because of the widespread problem a recall as issued. The consumer was then informed the recall was old, and her VIN was not included. 7 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2010 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/12/2011

The noil filter is in a bad place that causes oil to collect in all areas of the engine and skid plates that cause excess drips on my garage floor. Smoke on the hot engine parts and could cause a fire each time the oil filter is changed. I have to constantly remind the dealer to completely spray and degrease the under areas and sides of the engine each time or I have to return numerous times about oil leaks. It does not make sense to create oil problems because of the filter location. . . .

8 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/22/2011

Sudden engine acceleration incident. My wife and I were leaving a parking lot. After backing out of my parking space I drove for about 1 minute to a stop sign. I put the manual transmission in neutral and waited for a car to exit the intersection and for some pedestrians to cross. Suddenly, without touching the accelerator, the engine began to race. I looked at the tachometer. The engine that normally idles at about 600 rpm was running at 2500 rpm. I sat at the stop sign for a few moments and decided the throttle must have stuck. With the stick shift in neutral I tapped the accelerator hoping to unstick the throttle. The engine roared to 3500 rpm and stayed there for 10-20 seconds. Then the rpms started to drop back down to normal idle. . Weather was clear and dry temperature 60 degrees, time 3 pm. It was scary. If the transmission was in gear when the engine took off, I would have taken off. I'm afraid to drive this car.

10 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2010 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 04/02/2010

Driving my 2010 Jeep Liberty, stopped at a stop light and the car shuttered slightly and died. Brand new 7 month old car, battery is fine, started right back up, just stalled out for no apparent reason. Not on a incline, car was flat, automatic transmission, 68 degrees outside, not hot/overheating, no guage or warning lights came on before or after it died. No ac was in use. Onlything being used was vent and the cigarette lighter to power my son's dvd player in the back seat. No sterao was on either. Online research showed in Jeep forums that other owners have had this similar problem with their Jeeps stallign out for no apparent reason. Jeep has given them no explanation or offer to fix. Taking mine in on Monday am to dealer to inquire as to awhat could have possible caused this. Do not know if mine is part of the two recalls that Jeep has out now for the Liberty but will inquire about them as well, and ask if they could be the cause of mine stalling out for no reason.

23 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/05/2003

The first incident happened back when I first got my Jeep right before the warranty was about to expire. It was running fine and had no indication that anything was wrong. It was around the 35,000 mile mark. I was driving to work and my Jeep just stalled on me. I pulled off to the side of the road, tried to start it again, and nothing. So I called the dealership who told me to call the 800# for the tow truck (which took 2 hours at 20 degrees. . . . No heat. . . Not good). I found out that was actually a piston and a rocker-arm along with many other little parts that needed to be fixed in the engine. . . . . . . So major engine repair. The Jeep was in the shop for a couple of weeks. After it was fixed all was well. . . . . Until the breakdown from the recall. . . . That is my next complaint. . . . Stay tuned!!! :).
