The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Liberty the contact stated while driving 40 mph she noticed a loud banging sound coming from the suspension control of the drivers rear side of the vehicle. The contact noticed that rear end of the vehicle was loose and falling apart onto ongoing traffic. The contact pulled to the side of the road safely no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the home of the contact. The dealer was not contacted, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. 2006 Jeep Liberty. Consumer writes in regards to defective window parts installed in vehicle. The consumer stated the window has been replaced five times within the last four months, in addition, to the previous 11-12 replacements in 2007. The consumer stated using the same defective parts was not going to fix the problem. Also, when the windows were down, there was a thumping and wind noise, that was unbearable. The consumer stated things were stolen out of his vehicle, because the windows would not go up. Also there was a noise coming from the rear of the vehicle and the doors would vibrate when the windows were down.

2006 Jeep Liberty. Consumer writes in regards to recall concerning suspension problem the consumer was informed by Chrysler and the dealer, they were unaware of a recall. The consumer stated Chrysler yielded a no recall notice on his vehicle. Records indicated the vehicle was first sold in new jersey and the re-sold in tucson ax. The consumer stated the re-sale in tucson az was false as the dealer the consumer purchased the vehicle in IL. The consumer stated there was no record of the vehicle being sold in IL.

The consumer stated it has been two months and the parts were still not available.

The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that she received notification of NHTSA campaign id number 12v085000 (suspension:rear) and an authorized dealer was notified to secure an appointment for recall repairs. The contact was informed that the necessary parts were on back order. The manufacturer was then notified and the contact was referred back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 54,000. Updated 06/25/12.
Loss of control of 2004 Jeep Liberty limited due to failure of lower trailing arm. Lower trailing arm snapped due to corrosion according to repair shop. The vehicle was being driven at about 30mph on rural back road on straight section. Jeep veered back and forth wildly until was able to stop. Both rear lower trailing arms were replaced, the broken one and the other one which was also badly corroded.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. While driving 65 mph during rainy conditions, the rear end of the vehicle suddenly started to veer into two lanes. The contact released the accelerator pedal, engaged the brakes and eventually was able to regain control on the vehicle. He continued to drive to his destination; however, he is concerned about the rear axle defect and safety risk. The failure has not been diagnosed by a mechanic or dealer. The current and failure mileages were 35,000.

On several occasions my car has stalled. Prior to it stalling it would have power surges, backfire, the rpm needle would go crazy, and then just shut off loosing all power to brakes and steering. Stalling would occur mostly at lower rates of speeds (under 50mph). It wouldn't turnover immediately. I would have to wait 20 to 25 seconds each time and then it would start, almost as if the system resets itself. It's pretty scary when you have to young children and your on a freeway and your car all of a sudden stalls. The second problem I'm having is a very loud noise coming from the rear end. I pointed my side mirror down towards my backtire. I watched as the rearend made a load cluncking noise and it was as if the back tire was being pushed outwards. The third problem is my passenger side rear window just dropped into the door. The motor still works I can hear it. And last but no least my left turn signal blinks extremely fast and then sometimes it doesn't. My car is currently at the Jeep dealership. I think it's kind of funny that the guy wants to charge me $200 to investigate the problems I'm having to find out what it is. Thanks to everyone's complaints I can call him and tell him the problems, as if he didn't already know. Goodluck to everyone.

On June 19, 2008 I was driving on a major highway when the vehicle started to make a loud noise from the rear and 10-15 minutes later I heard a loud thump and the car stopped, I had to roll to a stop an the side of the hwy. . . When I looked under the car the rear axle had fallen. The Jeep has had a rear noise for sometime now. I took it in and was told that the rear axle needed oil it was completely dried up and the metal has been grinding which is why the noise was there. I asked why was there no oil and everyone looked surprised and did not have an answer. Never heard of that, I was told that metal particles where in the oil pan and that the noise will continue but that there was no danger. Months later I took the car back to have that same rear axle oil changed and was told that I do not need to do that again. Now 6 months later the cars axle falls out. What is up with that. I have been driving for over 30 years and have owned varies vehicle which I have driven over 230,000 miles and never had the oil in the axles replace. Why did this happen to my vehicle? what can I do? I am 4 months shy of paying off this vehicle. What a joke.
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated while depressing the accelerator pedal the vehicle swerved to the left and right. While driving highway speed at approximately 55 to 60 mph the vehicle also became uncontrollable. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who performed a diagnostic test that determined the failure was located in the rear lower control bushing. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 78,000.
Upon making a slight lane correction at approx. 60 mph, my daughter's 2002 Jeep libety began swerving uncontrollably. She felt no resistance to the steering wheel as she tried to stop the swerving. At no time did she apply the brakes. Witnesses said it appeared she had a flat tire. Eventually, the vehicle entered the grass median and rolled 2. 5 or 3. 5 times coming to rest on the roof facing on-coming traffic. The complete rear end(tires and differential) separated and ended up approx. 75 feet from the vehicle. The right front axle or cv joint was broken. Neither her passenger or her air bags deployed. The driver's seat belt was broken at the end of the motion of the rolling. Both occupants were bruised and cut. We believe the axle failed and caused this potentially fatal accident. This vehicle had approx. 3000 miles on it. At 1800 miles the engine had thrown a rod and the engine was replaced completely. The Jeep Liberty is structurally unsound and of poor design particularly in the area of the rear suspension. Daimler-chysler has lowered the suspension in obvious response to roll over incidents. . .
