All of the dashboard lights are on. Speedometer, odometer, gps, automatic door lock, remote start, cruise control, none of that works. Tire pressure warning lights are constantly flashing different pressures. Everything lights up upon starting and stays on while moving until it's turned off. This initially happened when I was driving on a highway, and my first reaction was that I didn't have any brakes. It was quite frightening. Subsequent to that the lights would go on and off intermittently, but after a few months they are now permanently on. The dashboard also makes a ping noise every minute or so. I purchased the car in 2017 and this had not been a problem until a few months ago. The known danger is in not knowing how fast I am going. The unknown danger is could the brakes at some point not work, or if I become involved in an accident will the air bags not deploy or will the engine at some point just stop running. I have been told it could be a faulty tipm. I also have a 2008 Jeep Liberty that does not have this problem, however it suffers from the same dashboard random ping noise.

My Jeep has had trouble switching from defrost to vent or floor since I purchased it. Recently I have been unable to use the heat in my Jeep and it is very cold in the mornings. I have been advised it is the hvac blend door actuator. I have read reviews online with a lot of people having the same issues and was also advised by a coworker that Jeeps have a lot of recalls for problems such as this. I would like to report the issue in the event the Jeep could be recalled for this before I spend a large amount of money trying to have it repaired. The heat will not work at all, it does not matter if the vehicle is in motion or sitting in park. My passenger window will not roll down when being attempted from the passenger side. The driver has to roll the window down. My Jeep was in park and another vehicle backed into it, slightly bumping the front bumper of my Jeep. My Jeep was in park with no passengers inside but rolled backwards several feet. The Jeep was barely tapped therefore, considering it was in park, should not have rolled backwards that far. I travel with kids in my vehicle, this is frightening.
Brakes locked up 3/2017 had it towed to anderson Jeep in az. They replaced the abs module and hcu. 100 days later they locked up again in mn. Towed to forest lake Jeep. When tested it worked ok then later they drove it and it locked up while they were traveling down the road. Codes showed same parts have to be replaced. They don't feel confident that this will correct the problem. We are concerned that this will cause a safety problem in the future. The latest was on a city street while car was in motion.

The electrical system fails from winter to summer causing miscellaneous information to the computer, the auto can overheat, it can also clear down and open failure of gasoline. The ball joints fail truly. It happened to me in three occasions when I circulated by the city when crossing on a street, while passing a tumble, and on a terrace street. The front brake system breaks causing brake liquid leaks this is caused by the warming of parts and dirt. I saw the stain in the soil when I park in my garage and check.

My anti skid, abs, and esp lights are on. The cruise control is not working. Also, at about 50 mph, my front end acts up. I am told that this is a known problem with the clock spring.

Severe rusting of all suspension components. Rf and lf cv joints rusted beyond repair. Front brake rotors beyond repair. Jeep dealers said vehicle has severe rusting and unsafe to drive. Was told may not be worth repairing. Most Jeep liberties are covered under a recall except 2008. Dealer said repairs would be in the thousands.

Goes in reverse but when putting it into drive goes a foot and the breaks come on by themselves. Locks up and cant move. Does this in my driveway and on the road, not drivable. I almost got killed when the breaks locked up and a vehicle behind me had to avoid hitting me. This is a manufacture defect and should be recalled before someone does get killed. There are no pictures to upload you cant see inside the break system or what ever it is that is causing this horrible waiting to be fatal accident.

"takata recall" this vehicle is a saftey hazzard unsafe due to abs notification system and causing brakes to drag and lock up. I purchased this vehicle at a so called 5 star Chrysler Jeep dealership and it was put on the lot with bad breaks that where metal to metal and a bad electrical system. I had to purchase new breaks which are being damaged due to abs malfunction causing the hit an miss causing the breaks to over work against the rotar drag and lock up. I was coming home on hwy and had to apply my breaks the break light came on and my breaks locked and I swerve off road to keep from rear ending another vehicle and shut off engine. This is a safety issue vehicle is unsafe and should not have been sold without breaks and electrical system being checked out.
I was driving on the interstate and several warning lights appeared on the dash board. I took the vehicle to the local repair shop and found out that the airbag clockspring was no longer operational. In addition, the anti lock brake feature, cruise control, and airbag are no longer operational. I have been looking for this part for quite some time and it is not available in most cases. The original cost for the clockspring ranged from $80 to $130 depending on the dealer. I have been able to find one clockspring and the dealer wanted $650 for the part plus installation, and he only had one available.
The contact owned a 2011 Jeep Liberty. When the contact entered the vehicle and depressed the brake pedal, the vehicle surged forward, struck another vehicle, and crashed into a concrete wall. There were two injuries that required medical attention. The contact did not observe any warning lights illuminated. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The airbag clockspring has broken and we were told the airbags, anti lock brakes and the stability control will not work without this part. We have not been able to find this part and have been told that it is on back order and anywhere from 35 to 100 are on the waiting list before us. This is for the mopar replacement part. No one else is making this part and we are forced to drive, what we feel is an unsafe car. Nothing particular happened, the warning lights just went on.
Parking break mounting plate attachments have sheared separating the the parking break assembly from the axel housing rendering the break useless on both sides of the vehicle. Cause of failure unknown but the issue appears systematic with the vehicle and is not easily repaired.
The contact owned a 2003 Jeep Liberty. While driving approximately 25 mph in snowy weather, the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle crashed into a bridge abutment. The frontal air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered a concussion and chest bruises that required medical attention. The contact was treated and released. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 168,993.

The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty. While the vehicle was stopped at a red light, it accelerated independently even while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle had to be placed into neutral in order to stop. The vehicle was taken to galeana Chrysler Jeep kia (180 greystone blvd, columbia, SC 29210) where the dealer stated that there was no issue with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred several more times. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 15,800.
Vehicle was in motion on city street, turning a corner at approximately 20 mph the front end suspension: control arm snapped/ disconnected from the lower ball joint. Axle shaft assembly/ cv drive shaft broke. Cost of repair $1500.
Abs system goes out which in turn makes the cruise control go out. Then when you use the vehicle again the abs is on so is the cruise control but the brakes don't work well and grab. Then when you are using the lights at night it dims for no reason inside and out. Still waiting on the fix for the rear end fuel tank issue.
Abs, bas/esp, tcs indicator lights illuminate, vehicle loses power, brakes are applied ( most likely right front as car pulls to right) releasing throttle cancels the braking. As throttle is reapplied same action is repeated. So far it has only occurred at speeds< 35 mph. Should it occur in slippery road conditions it most likely result in loss of control. In researching the problem on the internet, it seems to be or is becoming a more common occurence which fca is not addressing. If you read the other complaint of the same problem it dates back a few years, yet there doesn't seem to be anything done to correct it. Some complainants say they have been unable to have it corrected even at Jeep dealerships, others report it's something called the clock spring that is causing the problem and the parts to repair it aren't available. Having just recently had fca's gas tank solution corrected, I hope a fix for this won't take as long. I neglected to say this was not a one-time event in as much as it happens now on an almost daily basis. A local shop checked for fault codes but there were none in memory; I have it scheduled for further tests 09/16/2015.
The pain on the outside roof is peeling, I do live in a state where the roads are salted however, there is no salt used on the top of the vehicle, this, while not a new vehicle should not be peeling the way it is. The front windshield had a severe chip & the installer was barely able to sand this area down enough to be able to seal the windshield. I have done some research & this is a very common problem along with the rear window regulators both of which have had to be replaced. There are problems with the emergency break & the Jeep dealership gives one reason for the abs, esp among other wheel and breaking issues. And now the one thing that Jeep is finally supposed to be doing something about rather than me having to put more money into this vehicle for, the gas tank recall seems to be a ridiculous fix, and I have been on a waiting list for this for months and still have not been able to get it in to get this fixed. I saw a news story that said that Chrysler was being mandated to fix these very poorly made vehicles. I would like to know how this particular vehicle does not fall into the other recalls when it has been having the same issues. I have been having breaking system issues as long back as 13 months after I purchased this vehicle.
The contact owned a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the gear shift would not engage into drive and the vehicle started making a roaring noise. The contact's vehicle lunged forward and struck the preceding vehicle. The brakes seized and the pedal was all the way down to the floor. The police filed a report. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.
Heard some kind of pop, then some grinding when holding the brake down and turning the wheel. Took car to my regular mechanic. They found all 4 ball joints boots perforated & handed me a recall notice for lower ball joints only that was from sept. 2006. I purchased the vehicle Jan. 2006 & never rec'd this recall. Even when I went to the dealer for the fuel tank recall on 7/11/15, they didn't notify me of it. I went on moparownerconnect. Com & it shows this recall as repaired, which obviously isn't possible. According to audomd. Com there are several issues related to this vehicle through different manufacturers. I have an appt. Set up at the dealer next week & depending on what they say about fixing all the ball joints and checking for other safety concerns, I may be sending in another complaint.
I started off by driving down hill on highway 40. All vehicle lights lit up on dashboard, enging stalled, no brakes or steering. I shifted the vehicle to neutral and was able to come to a stop on the shoulder of the road when the vehicle started up the next hill. No turns, the road was straight. Turned the key off and restarted the vehicle, and the Jeep ran fine. Later that day in a parking lot, the same thing happened. Started the vehicle, started to pull out of the parking lot, all of the dashboard lights came on, the engine stalled and had no brakes or steering. Placed the vehicle in neutral until the Jeep came to a stop, turned the key off, then restarted the vehicle and the Jeep ran ok until we got home.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. While the vehicle was parked, a burning odor emitted from the rear driver side wheel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the rear axle drain plug and both front and rear brakes were replaced. In addition, the vehicle was taken to the dealer on two separate occasions. The rear driver side axle drain plug was replaced twice, including the rear driver side brakes. The failure persisted after the repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,100.
This is a safety complaint on a 2005 Jeep Liberty complaint for the 3 recalls. Ball joints, trailer hitch and control arms. On this day I brought my vehicle to transitowne in williamsville, NY for the recalls, I never received the ball joint recall previously. My vehicle was safe, no noise, no problems and was currently in mint condition mechanically and otherwise. I dropped it off Thursday night 5/7/2015 to be worked on 7/8/2015. They called the morning of 7/8/2015 to say the vehicle was complete. As I drove home the wheel shakes and front end makes noise while braking and sounds loose. I immediately returned it, they were rude and after my obvious frustration finally decided to take a test drive. When sal, the service coordinator came back and actually admitted (with a witness) I was one in a million that received bad ball joints but that they don't have any more I would have to wait. I explained when braking something is rubbing, steering is shaky and makes a clunk noise from ball joints. They let me drive away with a vehicle that is unsafe. Loose ball joints with any play in them can result in an accident. They offered no rental, no help and ignore me. I have my own business (sole) and cannot drive it, I don't trust it and it cannot be driven to kayaking. My entire weekend was ruined not to mention I cannot drive a noisy, dangerous vehicle. They did not replace the trailer hitch even though it's 10 years old (I put it on myself) did not come with the Jeep, and it's welds are rusty and brittle, they did not care about that either. Chrysler case # 26946712. I feel like nobody cares about my problem, it can't be legal for a dealership to send drivers home with vehicles that have loose ball joints and tell them it's safe, they have no idea where I go and drive with my vehicle, it's construction season and one pothole on the thruway could kill me.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to stop the vehicle. The contact was made aware of NHTSA campaign number: 06v493000 (service brakes, hydraulic). However, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred multiple times. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
On March 3, 2015 I was driving down my street and it has a semi-steep decline and my brakes locked up going down. I pumped my brakes and had my brake pedal to the floor board. My Jeep Liberty failed to stop sending me through an intersection through a small open field and over a small embankment landing on the roof of my Jeep. I had to be transported to the hospital to be checked out. But, from the damage to the Jeep it is most likely totaled.
Turned left out of the doctors office, drove approximately 50 yards and attempted to stop at the stop sign (making a right). The vehicle's engine, however, began accelerating and despite applying extreme pressure to the brake, continued to move forward while the engine accelerated faster. I ultimately ended up throwing it into park and then turning off the ignition to kill the accelerating engine. I have no idea what the rpm was, but it was loud! this also happened 2 weeks ago (first time - very cold morning) and I ended up throwing it into park and turning off the key like today. Todays temperature was around 40 degrees. Fyi - I was in the process of making a right hand turn when this happened and had slightly turned the wheel. After the first incident, I began doubting that this had even happened. In hindsight, despite several blogs on the internet, I am absolutely positive that I did not push down on both the accelerator and brake at the same time. After todays incident, I immediately called our local car dealership to schedule an appointment and then attempted to recreate what happened. Under various scenarios I bumped the steering wheel cruise control buttons (while stopped, while stopping, while accelerating) but could not cause the runaway acceleration to repeat itself. We have an appointment at our local dealership this Friday, or as soon as we can drop it off. Candidly, I'm scared to drive this vehicle at this point!.
Parking/emergency brake does not hold the vehicle. Brakes have been replaced and inspected in good condition. This model is equipped with an auto-adjusting system that does not auto adjust as stated in the service manual. Vehicle has popped out of gear and coasted from its parking spot with parking brake fully applied. (see complaint 10897627 for manual transmission complaint). No recalls or service bulletin relating to this safety issue.
The brakes locked up and smoking very heavily when I got home. The vehicle is parked now as I am afraid to drive it and cannot afford to fix it. The distance from when the brakes locked up to my house is 1 (one) mile.
The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty. While driving at 55 mph, the brakes seized without warning. The failure recurred five times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician inspected the vehicle, but was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 179,000.
I manage an emissions testing business a woman came in with a 2007 Jeep Liberty for a smog check. During the asm test, where I have to drive the car on the dynamometer, it hops off the dyno, going through the precautions I take for a rear-wheel drive vehicle(placing a shock in front of the front wheels), and crashes into the wall, damaging myself and $5,000 worth of equipment. Also, the car kept on accelerating into the wall, even when pushing on the brakes as hard I could so that's when I shifted it into park and engaged the handbrake. Obviously, this car has some major problems with it. At first, I looked online and the year and model had numerous recalls on it, including the rear suspension, and brakes locking up, which I believed had happened in my case. . Read more...
Tl- the contact owns a 2003 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated a recall notification letter was mailed to home address, for NHTSA campaign number 13v252000 (fuel system, gasoline , structure ). The contact stated they have been waiting for over one year for the parts to come into local dealer. The dealer continues to stated the part was unavailable. The contact has not experience a failure at this time. The vehicle mileage was 110,000. Lnc.
This is not the first time this issue has accured but I cann't rememer the dates but it is on record at the dealership. We have had this 2012 Jeep Liberty in the shop two other times with the same complaint but with the same results (nothing) !!!!!!!!!!when driving on wet roads and going into curves even at slow speeds (35 mph) when applying the brakes, the front brakes will lock up and the back brakes are not catching. . . Causing the Jeeps back end to slide around,, so we tried stopping on a level gravel lot and the front wheels will lock up but the back wheels will keep turning. We have had it to tim short Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge in hazard, ky and one mechinc says that there is clearly something wrong but another states that he test drove another like vehicle and this vehicle does same. And that he talked with star and roland and both stated that this is normal operation. No codes, no problem found at this time. So I received a statement with the signature of mechinc dwayne slone (servie manager) and trent short (general manager). This is very dangerous and if this in "normal operations" then something needs to be changed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please help,,, has there been any other complaints with this same problem?.
I was coming home the day before the holiday. It was a busy day around 4:30 pm. I began heading down the heel and the car just turned off. I was unable to restart, steer, break or control any aspect of the car. Unfortunately when the car stopped, it threw me forward into the dash. Fortunately, the gentleman that was in front of me saw me waving and yelling I couldn't stop and risked his life by pulling in front of the oncoming traffic to allow my car to continue soaring down the hill. Once I reached the bottom of the hill, my vehicle came to rest between two lanes of a four lane road. Mind you this road has hills coming from both ways. Fortunately again, a tow truck driver came along and stopped traffic until he could safely tow me into my driveway (free of charge). When I tried starting the vehicle again it ran like it was about to blow up and rattled something terrible. I contacted Chevrolet and they explained that they had never heard of any such situation regarding my type of vehicle. However, as the stories began spilling into the media, it was like reliving that moment over and over again, but unfortunately for some their situation didn't turn out as well. How long will this major motor company be able to risk human lives just to make a profit. Why don't they just admit that they used defective parts to make a big profit and it has now back fired.
Purchased vehicle used in 2013 11/17/2015 1. Engine continues to run when key is removed from ignition switch. While parked. First noticed last week 11/08/2015 (only as long as the preset time on the radio shut off or the door is opened) 2. With cruise control set and going up hill, transmission down shifts to maintain speed. While trying to keep speed up and then break applied, excessive force is required to dis-engage cruise control. While driving at normal speeds. For as long as I can remember. (break switch has been changed twice) 3. While filling fuel tank at gas station, paying close attention to the pump, fuel will pour out from the filler neck after the pump has shut off. For as long as I can remember. (many occasions) 4. Check engine light continuously on. Possible damage to hoses on emissions canister in left rear wheel well due to gas spillage? (as long as I can remember) 5. Gas cap indicator comes on at start. Possible damage to hoses on emissions canister in left rear wheel well due to gas spillage? (need to manually turn off, changed gas cap twice) 6. It seems that all things electrical have a delay to their function, flashing high beams, honking horn. . . While parked or driving. For as long as I can remember. (all of the time).
