I had to have my rf hub bearing replaced 3 times. My vehicle was purchased new. The first time milage was around 75000 mile second was at about 150 and again around 255 its appears once a year. I am now having problems with leaks. My transmission is leaking, water pump leaking and oil all at once. Going in for inspection today. Started with trans leak followed by these other leaks. I noticed the vehicle was leaking trans fluid and it was jerking hesitate to go into gear. Added trans fluid was find but found myself adding more fluid within next 2 days so I know it has to be checked out. Now the vehicle is running hot my reservoir was not at max so I filled it up. Needle started go up to hot mark but did not get hot no smoke nothing. Would go back down as long as I was driving. Checked today ending oil and it is low. Just had oil change over a month ago. Will keep you informed after inspection. My vehicle is now at 255 thousand miles. I have had regular maintenance.

The 2012 Jeep Liberty only has 56k thousand mile and transmission pan was leaking and rusting. How is this possible and why isn't this a safety hazard/product defect. There are numerous other complaints of this issue. The oil pan also showing signs of rusting as well. When the vehicle is hot and leaking fluid is this not a safety issue.
I have several different issues with my 08 Jeep Liberty. The locks randomly lock and unlock. When I use the lock button on the transmitter, it'll unlock the doors sometimes right after or at some point when parked. The headlights randomly come on and go off when parked. The traction control light comes on intermittently while driving. The traction control system also randomly activates on dry pavement and even throws the front end out of alignment because it will brake one wheel. I've almost had several accidents because of this engaging. Also, when the traction/stability control engages there's a noise from the brake system followed by smoke at whatever wheel it's trying to brake. I took it into dealer and they replaced my front brakes and rotors and that hasn't fixed the problem. Now they are saying I need a new draft shaft, tie rods and a couple other front end pieces. I don't believe that's where the problems are coming from. It's a scary situation driving this because I don't know if I'm going to make it where I'm going because the steering can lose control because of the traction system. Also, it's developed a major leak in the hatch area by the top plastic pieces where it rains and the back floor looks like a swimming pool after it rains. I told the dealer but they have yet to tell me if they found out why it's leaking. I also replaced the blower fan and relay for the ac thinking that it will fix an issue where the air in the vents are barely blowing. No fix. Ac is weak. The heat works best when in motion. Heat will heat up while driving and I feel like I'm being boiled alive. Have to keep on high to get any air out of the vents, however. The transmission is clunky shifting and the fluid has been changed. Power steering is difficult to turn.

Transmission pan leaking at 56,000 miles. No way to check fluid level for novice. No warning light for low fluid level, pulling out into traffic, car no longer moves stalling in on coming traffic. Open further investigation, pan rusted was seeping trans fluid under carriage soak, no smoke from exhaust burning as short trips. Long trip fire hazard due to cat. And hot exhaust. This is very premature to rust out. Many complaints across the internet and Jeep forums.
While I was driving westbound on washington avenue approaching main street the transmission began slipping. Upon closer examination I discovered the transmission fluid was leaking along the fresh fallen snow behind me.

The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Liberty diesel crd. The contact stated that the vehicle caught on fire twice, in June 2011 and again five weeks later, for the same related failure. The contact stated that the fires were caused by the transmission vent that released fluid onto the exhaust pipe. The transmission failed and while driving, caused the fluids to leak and cause a fire under the hood. There were no injuries during either fire. A fire report was filed. The insurance company was contacted and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and a complaint was filed. The failure was a reported as a mechanical problem and the vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 45,500 and the current mileage was 46,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty 4x4. The contact was driving 30 mph as transmission fluid began abnormally leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic test that located the failure at the transmission seal. The dealer replaced the transmission seal and housing extension but the failure persisted. When attempting to shift gears, the transmission would exhibit an unusual knocking. On one occasion while driving 30 mph, the vehicle abnormally accelerated and the contact was able to stop the acceleration by abruptly applying the brakes. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 1,850 and the current mileage was 45,000.
- the contact received recall 06v288000 for the 2002 Jeep Liberty concerning lower ball joints. The contact complained about the effect that the ball joint had on the tires. The contact stated that no matter what speed she was driving at, but usually at about 15 mph she felt and heard the suspension in the car shifting whenever she hit a bump. The contacts complaint was that after one and a half years the tires were completely bald. The contact stated that this was directly related to the safety recalls on the ball joints. Also, the contact stated that on 11/2005 she lost control of the vehicle after making a turn. After taking the vehicle for service, the contact learned from the dealer that all of the steering fluid leaked out, and the power steering belt split in half. The contact would like to have the tires replaced under the recall as well. Updated 2/7/2007 - the consumer's vehicle experience extended crank time to start. The dealer replaced eh fuel pump and fuel pump reservoir. The lap belt in the rear seat became twisted. When the vehicle was put into reverse the consumer hear a noise. The dealer made repairs to the transmission. The lighter was inoperative.

This is a safety issue because we purchased this vehicle to tow a small boat. Fortunately, we were not towing the boat at the time of the incident, otherwise we would certainly have lost control of the vehicle. My 2002 Jeep Liberty is well within its original bumper-to-bumper warranty period. Suddenly it slipped out of gear, lost power, and the "check engine" light came on. It still runs in 1st, 2nd, and reverse gears, but slips out at every stop light and has to re-engage. The dealership said they won't honor the warranty because they claim the transmission was drained before I drove in to the dealership - but that's exactly the symptom that needs to be fixed!! they admit the vehicle couldn't go more than a couple of miles with fluid that low, but the problem occurred during a highway trip and no one could have drained the fluid while I was driving. There are no leaks or drips under the vehicle and there was no warning of any kind. Where did the fluid go? our Liberty was one of the first off the assembly line. Other Liberty owners will probably experience this problem around 32000 miles. Please warn them before someone gets hurt.
