1 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/11/2017

Transmission shudders/chatters when on the open highway when going at least 50 miles per hour. When this occurs you have to take your foot off the gas to get the transmission shudder to stabilize. This will be the second time I am bringing to the dealer for transmission shudder related problems.

3 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/07/2007

After purchasing my diesel Jeep I noticed a shuddering in the transmission at about 55-65 miles an hour. Considerably worse with you decelerate after acceleration. In a construction hold on traffic my vehicle idled for about 10 minutes. When I was cleared to move forward I put the gear selector in drive. The Jeep stalled. It took me a several attempts to restart the motor. I have done extensive research and have come up with one answer. Air is in the fuel. I have taken it to a Jeep dealer in ozark alabama and in dothan alabama. Chrysler tells them that the air in my fuel system is ok. I demand to know what is a safe level of air allowed in the fuel system. No one has measured the amount of air in the fuel system. Please tell me so I can have it measured because I have volumes. I am afraid it will stall out on me again. I have had a few close calls when the Jeep hesitated and choked after a long light and a train crossing,.

4 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/28/2006

2005 Jeep Liberty crd has intermittent and unpredictable issues with "shuddering" and "bucking" both on the highway and at low speed or stop. The vehicle sometimes dies unexpectedly at intersections, or hesitates when accelerating such as turning from stop at an intersection. The automatic transmission "gear hunts" between 50 and 60 mph, causing the vehicle to shudder and lurch unpredictably. Most notably dangerous problem is that of the vehicle dying when the brake is stepped on while approaching an intersection, or dying when pulling away from an intersection. This situation could cause an accident, as the vehicle will stop without the brake being applied. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership 3 times for the same trouble. The hesitation problems seems to disappear for a time, but always return. The transmission shudder and "gear hunting" have never ceased. The dealer has repeatedly suggested that it is "turbo lag" or the "filters need to be replaced. " filter replacement has done nothing.

5 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 04/05/2004

For most of the year I have been having trouble with my Jeep libert automatic transmission. I have had several problems with it and the dealer still has not resolved the issue. I am being told that they cannot replicate the problem. I describe the following as the problems. At a full stop while holding down the brake the trans mission will shutter and make a banging noise. The transmission shifting at lower gears is rough. It is not in a like new condition. He transmission makes a grinding noise. The vehicle has stalled 3 times do to the transmission problem. The vehicle has lurched forward at a stop sign/light. If not for holding down the brake the vehicle would hit the car in front of me. The transmission has shuttered as it changes gears while driving. Mainly at slow speeds. I consider this to be a safety issue with the vehicle. I believe the transmission will fail and I fear it will cause an accident. I have made every attempt to resolve this with the dealer. The transmission has been reconditioned twice. Once on April 5,2004 and the other on may 26, 2004. The vehicle was returned to me but the problems reoccurred after a short time. I have called daimler Chrysler customer service line and talked to several reps. I have file numbers 12578676 and 12805501. I have also spoken with service manager david cargail and distric manager bruce shirley. Nothing has been done to address the problems that I am seeing. I have included the copies of the receipts from the service calls that are related to the transmission problems. I am missing some of the earlier once from this year and will send them if I locate them. I did take the vehicle in today and david cargail test drove it and refused to give me a receipt that I had taken it in to get it looked at. He said that I should have enough documentation that I needed.
