Engine Stall Problems of Jeep Patriot - part 2

Jeep in motion, engine stalls at varies speeds multiple times in a row. Headed straight or turning, had to call tow truck but after 20 minutes I tried to turn over my Jeep and it started. This happened 3 different times before arriving home. Kept call center rep. On phone until I was 2 miles away from my home. 1 time Jeep paused like not getting gas then I pressed the pedal and it accelerated (all right in the middle of intersection) then drove the remaining mile and a 1/4 home while on phone with husband. Advance auto told me possible fuel issue, I added lucas fuel system cleaner. Now looking at recalls online and reading about camshaft or crankshaft sensor. Miles on Jeep 41688.

The engine stalls sporadically while driving. It also has low oil engine pressure. My car make and model was recalled, however, my specific VIN number was not part of the recall even though I am experiencing the issues related to the recall.

2008 Jeep Patriot stalls shortly after filling up the fuel tank. Bought it used, and on the first fill up, got about . 5 miles before engine stalled. On my second fill up, on December 29, 2017, it stalled again after filling the fuel tank and driving in moderate traffic. Again at approximately . 5 miles. This was more serious as it was in traffic and could have caused a major accident. This was more a concern for me as my family was in the vehicle as well.

Have had my Jeep for 6 years its always stalling I took it to Jeep Chrysler Dodge, firestone nobody can figure out whats wrong; it actually turns itself off and nobody knows why. This is dangerous this car needs a recall. I have read that 2012 models do this same thing but this one does it too. Also the sunroof leaks as well and the rainwater goes into the lights. I would never recommend a Jeep to anybody ever again, these cars are not safe and no one cares about this problem. I have paid to get it looked at but they don't know how to fix it, I have been told it probably needs a system update there is nothing wrong but yet my car turns itself off all the time going down the highway at speeds 65 miles an hour the engine stalls and shuts off the sunroof has leaked and poured inside the Jeep since the day I had it it's a very dangerous vehicle it needs to please be investigated.

2014 Jeep Patriot stalls out on me. Traveling at speeds anywhere from 30mph to 55 mph. Problem initially started in early 2016. Driving at speed of 55 mph, car will start to vibrate, the engine and the etc (electric throttle control) lights will come on and the engine will completely shut off and stall out. The last stalling out while driving occurred 09/07/17. After restarting the vehicle and attempting to merge onto the road after being on the shoulder, the car will lunge forward and again stall out. After 5-7 attempts and nearly being hit each time I try to get on the main road, the Patriot will finally get me straight home. This has been an ongoing every 3-4 month occurrence for the past year and a half. I have contacted the Jeep dealership where I purchased the vehicle and they tell me they know of no such complaints occurring. This vehicle must be recalled, it is a deathtrap! I am terrified to drive my Patriot but seeing as I have no other option for transportation, I have to say a prayer and drive it to my place of employment. The vehicle has stalled out pulling away from my driveway after backing out, turning the corner at the end of my street and while driving it on a straight road at 55 mph and always in motion. Next time it does happen, since it always occurs more than once, I will record it and send it to the NHTSA. I've been reading many different message boards across the internet this is a common occurrence. This issue needs to be repaired or vehicles bought back or replaced before someone dies!.

A case number was provided but the contact did not have the number. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

While driving, the engine stalls out. This happened once 2 weeks ago and the engine light came on. However, the light was off the following morning. Today, it happened twice, and the engine light is back on. I was driving less than 55mph both times on city streets and not turning. When the engine stalls, all power is lost to the steering and breaking system.

After doing a full refuel of the vehicle the vehicle will stall while in motion, loosing all assisted steering and breaking. The first time this happened engine stalled in mid traffic and I was almost hit by the vehicle behind me on the city. Second time I reached the highway when it stalled this was even more scary. Vehicle will restart after putting in park and stall again a couple of blocks down. This only happens when the tank is filed till gas station pump auto stops. If I fill 3/4 then no stalling occurs. I have read online that this is happening to many Jeep Patriot owners. Some claim that it is related to liquid fuel going into the evap canister and then being sent to the engine when fiecu expects fuel vapors. This issue can cause fatal injuries if engine stalls on the wrong place.

Filling up with gas causes engine to stall. Auto garage says it's the check ball for the fuel tank allowing for overfilling of tank and than fuel getting into the vacuum system which then cause the Jeep to stall within 5 mins. The last time it was in the middle of in intersection with the kids in the car and almost getting hit by a driver not playing attention while my husband pushed the Jeep out of the way till it wanted to start again.

After filling fuel tank engine misses and stalls !.

During the summer or any hot day, and especially during speeds over 65 miles per hour my Jeep engine will stall. . Meaning it will reduce speed and then stop. . . This has happened every summer for years, and is now happening again during driving in traffic, and has effectively left me stranded at times on the road. . . I have had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership. I will show you the warning indicator light it presents with. I am dating the problem as 06/18/16 even though there have been multiple occurrences.

The vehicle was driven to a gas station and was filled up with gas. The fuel was not "topped off" and fueling was stopped when the fuel nozzle shut off. Upon leaving the gas station and driving less than 1/4 mile, the engine stalled and shut off while the vehicle was in drive and driving on the highway. The vehicle would not start for approximately 5 minutes. The vehicle was able to drive after this.

The engine frequently stalls after refueling, causing a loss of power steering, acceleration or deceleration. This starts after the issue with re-fueling that led to fuel nozzle kicking off at normal re-fueling speed for 4 fill-ups, which doesn't recur any more.

After filling gas tank with fuel, after 30ish seconds the engine will stall and sometimes recover, sometimes quit. This happens regardless of whether I am stopped at a light/sign or driving. I have read numerous reports of others having this same issue. Seems that the charcoal canister is filling with gas. Please help make this a known issue for other drivers! this has happened over the last 3 or 4 months with my vehicle.

After filling the gas tank the engine will stall. It happens with engine idleing or after enterring traffic. Very very very very. . . . . . . Dangerous, Jeep needs to fix this issue. The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Patriot. While driving 70 mph, the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel and the engine stalled. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, turned off, and restarted the vehicle after a few minutes. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission fluid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Engine stalled while driving on the highway at 70 mph. Could not start car immediately, was towed and after being towed car started up with no problem. Car was brought to the dealership and a diagnostic test was done with no errors shown.

I noticed 4 weeks ago that my 2013 Jeep was skipping really bad. I took it to the dealership and they said that nothing was wrong with it. Now it skips and engine stalls. I have only had this Jeep for 6 months. I am scared to drive it, the dealership told me to wait till it throws a light and then they can put it on a machine to find out what the problem is. In the meantime I am driving around my 15 month grand daughter. Something needs to be done about this before some one ends up dead.

I was driving my vehicle on an interstate in houston, texas at 71 mph and suddenly my engine stalled and I could not control my vehicle. Several vehicles behind me had to swerve around me and nearly hit my vehicle. My vehicle eventually came to a stop and I was able to re-start the engine. The vehicle I was driving is a 2012 Jeep Patriot with 42,700 miles on it. I have had 2 previous warranty recalls fixed on this vehicle - one related to a fuel transfer tube and the other for a vehicle occupant restraint.

The car had 1/4 of a tank of gas. While driving up a hill just outside of flagstaff, az the engine stalled and stopped running. The car would not start even after sitting for at least an hour. At the dealership the car started right up. The dealership in flagstaff said that it had run out of gas because of a design flaw and that they have seen this before. They told us that even though there was gas in the tank if it is less than half full and you go up a hill this will happen. It was scarey as there was no power steering or power brakes. It was lucky that there was no traffic on the road near us at the time. Jeep did a recall of the Patriots in 2012 for a similar problem and it seems to me that the design problem was not fixed in the 2013 models.

On interstate highway at highway speed on cruise control. Instant engine stall. Fuel gauge reads 3/8 full. This happened twice in the span of 5 hours. First stall - towed to dealership in bowling green ky. The engine started right up at the dealership. No engine fault codes were available. Dealership blamed it on bad gas. Second stall - same conditions near memphis TN. Aaa added one gallon of fuel, the engine started right up. Was able to continue the trip as long as we kept the fuel above 1/2 tank full. Both incidents could have been a crash had there been traffic, fortunately we coasted to the shoulder.

The engine stalled after driving at highway speeds. Stalling occurs more often when I have been in traffic for a long period of time. Traveling at highway speeds then slowing down to stop in traffic then attempting to accelerate has cause the car to stall on several occasions. The car was taken to the dealership and the service center was told about the issue. They claimed that it was a software problem. The software was updated and the issue stopped for a bit. After approximately 3 weeks the stalling happened again.

While driving on highway with cruse control on doing 70 miles per hour, the engine in my Jeep Patriot stalled out completely. The electronic parts of the vehicle stayed on, and I still had power steering. I was able to pull off to the side of the road. I could not start the vehicle for roughly 20 minutes. Then is finally started up. I drove it to the dealership where I bought it. The dealership kept it for three days, and said they found nothing wrong with it. They have insisted everything is fine.
