Vehicle Overheat Problems of Jeep Patriot

Jeep Patriot owners have reported 4 problems related to vehicle overheat (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 02/18/2019

Tkata recall. I own a 2014 Jeep Patriot and have had nothing but trouble which started just a couple months after I purchased it new. The first issue was the transmission hose came off while I was driving down the highway. This caused the car to stall and I was nearly unable to control the car to get pulled over. The dealership replaced the hose clamp, filled with transmission fluid and released it back to me. Had I known what hell I would be dealing with afterwards I would have never brought it back home. I now have electrical issues (I believe). The car will overheat within minutes of driving it. I have no heat. The etc light comes on often and the engine light is now a constant. I have had it to the repair shop to many times to count now and they are unable to figure it out. Jeep has offered no assistance and states that there are no other issues like mine, but when I look at blogs there are thousands. I feel dooped by Jeep. This complaint is my last resort because I do not know what else to do. I have tried to trade this car but the amount I owe and being that this car is of zero value due to all of the issues, it is almost impossible to trade in. Someone please help!!!.

3 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2013 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 12/24/2012

When driving this vehicle in the normal flow of highway traffic for 45 minutes or more, the car will overheat. When this happens the car drops in power /speed down to 20-30 mph. It feels as if you are running out of gas. This makes it extremely unsafe and dangerous to be able to get off the freeway without being either rear ended or side swiped. The car will continue to remain at the lower speed until you get off the highway and allow it to cool.

4 Vehicle Overheat problem of the 2011 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

My 2011 Jeep Patriot (limited, trail rated) suddenly stalled while traveling 70-75 mph on the interstate. The car had been traveling on interstate/highway for approximately 3 hours prior to the incident, with no stops or problems. My husband was driving in the passing lane, noticed that the car started slowing despite pressing the gas pedal. He managed to merge through traffic to the side of the road. The engine had completely died before he came to a stop. No warning lights illuminated on the dashboard. No sputtering or shuddering occurred. There was no indication that the car had overheated. There was no indication anything was wrong until the car began to slow. He did have cruise control active at the time. The car had to be towed as it would not restart after the incident. (he tried to restart several times within the 30-45 minutes it took for the tow truck to arrive, it would try to start (it would turn over?) but would not actually start) additionally, I have noted twice the car took slightly longer to start after sitting in the sun all day, but this is really a non "issue" since it has always started. It just took maybe . 5 seconds longer than normal on two occasions. I do not know if the start time is related, at all, to this stalling incident. This car is less than 1 year old, and has almost 18,000 miles on it. This event could have been extremely dangerous. Thankfully, there was no other vehicle immediately behind the car when this event occurred. The car is currently at the dealership for service tomorrow.
