37 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2015

Airbag light constantly on and digging. Horn intermittently does not work. Happens right when you turn the ignition on and start the vehicle and does not go away until ignition is turned off.

38 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2015

I am also having a problem with my airbag light. Computer code gives the b1b06- clock spring, which Jeep has recalled for rhd but not lhd. This makes no sense, seeing as how many people are having issues with this as well. I've contacted Jeep numerous times to complain. This is an expensive fix, a factory product safety issue that Jeep should cover! not only is the constant warning sound a nuisance every other minute, but when the light is on the airbag is disabled. Jeep, take responsibility.

39 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2015

Clockspring failure resulting in airbag light/alarm going on intermittently while driving.

40 Air Bag Light On problem

41 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2015

Airbag light continually goes on and off with chime while driving. Research shows this is being investigated by odi and there should be a recall as this affects the driver side on lhd models. Possible clockspring wiring issue. This is a serious safety concern and not just a routine "wear and tear" problem. Chrysler fiat needs to issue a recall and fix the problem.

42 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2015

I turned my Jeep on this morning and the airbag light stayed on for a couple of extra seconds, so I say ok. When driving it started going on an off every 10 seconds especially when turning the wheel. Took it to the dealer, they say bad clock spring, so I check for recalls and their is one for the 2007 Jeep for clock spring but not for the 2008 model which has practically the same as the 2007. I's an expensive part and it should be a recall for it. I have read about a lot of 2008 models having the same problem I have.

43 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2015

The airbag light and chime come on intermittently and the fault reads drivers squib. It is related to a clock spring in the steering column. Jeep has recalled the 2007 model year Wranglers and 2008 rhd Wranglers but not the lhd. It is a major safety issue since this is what controls the drivers airbag in a crash. Jeep needs to recall these vehicles and make the needed repairs. If you look on different web sites there are thousands of owners complaining about the same issue. America what happened to being responsible for your actions, lets pass the buck some more and play the blame game. Enough Jeep stand up and take responsibility after all your brand name is on the product.

44 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2015

The airbag light started blinking and dinging on and off every 30 seconds or so. When diagnosed at dealership they are saying it's a clock spring malfunction.

45 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2015

My check airbag light in intermittently lighting and chiming. After some research the problem matches exactly with a clock spring problem that was issued recalls for the 2007 model and the 2008 right-hand drive models. Mine is a 2008 left hand drive with no recall on the exact same problem and part as the others.

46 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2015

While driving, the warning chime sounds and the red airbag light comes on. Then it goes off. Then it comes on again. It happens over and over. This problem seems similar to NHTSA campaign number: 13v176000 but I haven't received any recall notice from Chrysler.

47 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2015

Recently the air bag light in my jk Jeep Wrangler (2008) began illuminating. I did some investigation prior to servicing it at the dealer and determined it was likely the clockwork spring since there were some many reports of failure. In addition, my electronic sway bar disconnect system would not re-engage after a camping trip. I drove down a mountain pass and on a stretch of 75 mph interstate without a sway and an air bag which was dangerous. I took it into the dealership to get both issues looked at. Jeep confirmed it was the clockwork spring causing the air bag light ($48. 00 diagnosis) and that the sway bar disconnect motor ($96. 00 diagnosis) had failed. They quoted me for $410 to get the clockwork spring fixed & $1410 to replace the sway bar. No promise was made to reimburse me for the diagnosis and repair cost should the issues become recalls since they are under investigation. I took initiative to self determine the cause of the sway bar not reconnecting since I suspected that the electronic motor was still functioning (I could hear and feel to motor operating before & after I took my vehicle into the dealership for service). After disassembling (never been tampered with prior), I found water and rusty parts inside and could see that the unit as poorly designed judging from the one small spring that is suppose to work to re-engage the sway bar by pushing the internal gears (now rusty) back together. I simply applied some grease to the parts and reinstalled the unit. To my delight this allowed the motor to reconnect the sway bar. It is unconscionable to put motorist in harms way without a functioning air bag system and / or sway bar due to poorly vehicle construction and then charge for diagnosis and repair costs. Please issue recalls for the clockwork spring and the lack of water protection for the electronic sway bar disconnect system before fatalities occur.

48 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2015

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Approximately two weeks ago, the air bag warning indicator started flashing and a chime sound was heard. The air bag warning indicator remained illuminated and the chime sound continued every time the vehicle was driven. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic nor a dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 134,000.

49 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2015

Air bag indicator light comes on for no apparent reason. Seems to be more frequent during times of damp conditions or high humidity.

50 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2015

Bad clock spring causing srs airbag light to illuminate. 2007 models were recalled however, no bulletins were sent for '08 models.

52 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

I started my Wrangler and the airbag light came on and never went off, it has effected use of my horn as well.

53 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2015

My airbag light has turned on. The vehicle has been diagnosed as needing the clockspring. Jeep has not offered to help with the repair. I see they have recalled the part for the year my car was made but they are not making any recall for my vehicle or helping with the cost of repair.

54 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2015

I started my car to take my daughter to school and heard the chime and noticed my air bag light was on and she was sitting in the front passenger seat, this is not safe for her or anyone else to be sitting in the front passenger seat. I drove her to school and the light and chime would go off and on randomly. I took it into the dealership yesterday and they informed me that it was the steering wheel clock spring and that it's going to cost me $500 to replace. Needless to say I did not have it repaired yesterday due to being a single mother on a fixed income and that costs is more than the payment I make every month for the car. I noticed that there is a recall for 2007 Wranglers and 2008 Wranglers right hand (rhd), mainly post office vehicles to fix this exact problem and find it odd that the only people left out of this recall issue is those of us who have (lhd), is there a reason for this decision? either this is a safety violation that we all should be included in, not just the 2008 government obtained vehicles, or it is not, this is not rocket science people.

55 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

The air bag light is on. The dealership confirmed it is equipped with a faulty/defective spring. The airbag will not inflate during an accident.

56 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

Airbag light and warning bell goes on and off repeatedly. This seems to be a well documented concern and points towards safety issues extending from non working air bags to a driver distraction. This problem also seems to be indicative of Chrysler's quality control and poor customer service.

57 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2015

Airbag light went on.

58 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2015

Over the last month or so, the air bag light goes on and off at random times. Sometimes it will not come on at all and other times it will go on and stay on. Also, over the last few days, I've noticed a 'shaking' while driving, starting around 50mph.

59 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

I was sitting in my driveway in park with my vehicle runing and my air bag light came on. It is a bad clock spring causing the issue. There have been numerous other 2008 models with same problem a bad clock spring. Chrysler will no fix this on left hand drive vehicle only rhd. . I took this from a forum where I guy called Chrysler. (I have a lifetime warranty and pretty much Jeep told me to go pound sand on it. They know of the problem and until forced by the nhtsb or whomever that is they said, they will not warranty it at all. ).

60 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

The clock spring in my 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited has gone bad and my airbag light has come on. This has been a recall on the 2007 Wrangler but from my understanding there have been many different model years that have the same issue. I went through Jeep and they said hey would not cover it so I had to purchase the part myself. The airbag is something I feel they should not take so lightly. If there is a known problem and a person takes the time to contact customer support in my opinion they should take care of it warranty or not.

61 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2015

The air bag dash light came on, indicating a fault in the airbag safety system. Then the seatbelt light came on even though the seatbelt was fastened. It seems that when the driving lights were on, the brake lights would not light at all; and the turn indicator did a fast blink. The dealer believes the clock spring in the steering has a short and caused the other electrical faults. So the car seems to have a non-functional airbag, and no brake lights. This is a dangerous failure. It appears this is a common failure model on Jeeps, but they have not issued a recall on this VIN yet.

62 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2014

While driving, the airbag light started flashing and an audible chime went off each time the light flashed. The light and chime would appear about every 5 minutes. I took my vehicle in for service and found out that the problem was the airbag clock spring. I also found out that there has been a recall on rhd vehicles of this same model for the airbag clock spring. After researching the problem, I found out that there have been numerous reports of this problem for lhd vehicles with no recall. Are they only recalling the rhd vehicles because majority of them are driven by government employees, and they expect everyone else to pay $600 to have this problem fixed?.

63 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2014

Faulty clockspring causing horn to not work and airbag light to go on. Was told by dealership that airbag will not work in event of accident.

64 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2014

The passenger airbag light goes off when the vehicle is turning, yet now does it for long periods of time. Even when a passenger is in the seat, the light stays off. Huge safety issue for these vehicles. This reflects Chrysler's recall number is l37.

65 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The air bag and mil warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart, but the failure recurred twice. The dealer stated that the tipm module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 80,000.

66 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

Getting ready to go to work I open my driver side door and the horn starts blowing, wiper fluid squirting continuously, windshield wipers constantly going that have now scratched my hood, internal lights blinking, radiator/coolant fan going, all lights on the dash come on, the headlights flashing as they please, the airbag light stays on, and heat stops working. I had to get my boyfriend to disconnect my horn because at 7 a. M. It is very embarrassing to wake the neighbors! I had to disconnect the battery. Now I can sometimes get it to stop by slapping the fuse box cover. At times my car won't shut off with the key taken out so I have to let it jump in first gear while pushing the brake. The first time this happened to me I almost rear ended a car in the daycare parking lot as we all parallel park to get to the front door. This happens whenever it wants to and now that it is getting darker earlier I have to worry about transporting my child with no headlights at night because I have no other means of transportation which this happened to me on the way to pick her up last night 11/12/14. The issue is happening more often in colder weather and is not safe at all to have no headlights working at night because of the electrical issues going on. I took the car to the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealership and had to wait almost two weeks before they could look at it. They could not find the issue because when they checked everything it did not do anything but act normal for them. I see this being a common issue with Wranglers lately and am waiting for the answer on the petition and investigation before I decide if this is worth fixing and keeping. Not safe at all!.

67 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2014

The air bag light comes on and off intermittently. Following up on this issue, seems to be a faulty clock spring and this should be addressed by Chrysler since the same faulty problem was addressed with the 2007 Wranglers. Apparently this issue was never resolved. My local mechanic even told me about the faulty clock spring issue and wonders why it has yet to be addressed.

68 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2014

I was driving around 35 mph, my air bag light began to flash and then it stopped. It began to flash on and off every couple of minutes. I shut off the engine for a few minutes, then started driving again and the air bag light started flashing and ringing. After I researched the problem online, it appears to be a faulty clock spring. There is a 2007 recall and a 2008 recall for right side driving vehicles. But nothing for 2008 Jeep Wrangler left side driving vehicles. I called Chrysler and had to file a complaint due to them not fixing the issue under warranty or recall. The total amount for the repair is $500+. There are numerous complaints about this air bag issue and nothing is being done.

69 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

Air bag light and chime continue to go off due to faulty clockspring.

70 Air Bag Light On problem
