13 problems related to steering wheel vibrate have been reported for the 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have noticed at high speeds when I am driving and I go over a pot hole or even when I go over a rumble strip I get an aggressive steering wheel shake. Another issue would be the passenger visor it broke when my vehicle only had 36,600k miles. I hardly use the visor one day my passenger out the visor down to cover the sun from face and it just fell from the corner.
Steering has extremely too much play. The vehicle veers everywhere at highway speeds. Steering wheel shakes violently if you hit a bump at highway speeds. Extremely dangerous.
Vehicle exhibits "Jeep death wobble". Frequent violent steering wheel vibration after Jeep hits a bump or uneven road conditions at highway speeds.
As I am driving at a normal speed all of a sudden my 2019 Jeep Wrangler will begin to shudder back and forth fiercely. The first time it happened on January 4, I thought I had a loose air flat tire. I stopped in the breakdown lane, got out and checked but there was nothing wrong. When I began driving again, the car drove fine. The next morning on January 5, the car did the same thing in almost the same are where ri 95 cuts off to ri295. The steering wheel started shaking for a good 50-100 feet before it stopped. I was alone both times. The 3rd time, I was taking my 29 year old daughter to the doctors in wakefield, ri and traveling on rt 1. All of a sudden the vehicle started shaking, it really scared my daughter who insisted we drive right to the dealership after her appointment. After her appointment and on the way to the dealership, it happened one more time. I walked into the dealership at paul bailey's in north kingstown. This is where I always go for my service on all my Jeeps. They were pleasant was always and I told them in had what I thought was the death rattle and he corrected me and said did I mean the death wobble? I made an appointment to go back January 18 to have them look at my car. I am concerned that this may be happening with all cars and may cause an accident. I only have 18000 miles on the car, it is still under warranty.
When driving over 65 mph the steering wheel begins shake very strongly - I had to lower the speed to 35 and then it stop - it happened few times.
Steering wheel began shaking violently on highway at 60mph. Had to slow down to stop the shaking. Issue happened again once I reached highway speed. No issues with tires found. Steering wanders under normal driving. Requires constant steering correction. Steering wheel pulls to the right during normal driving. Large dead spot in center of steering wheel. Dealer has the vehicle for the third time. Same issue.
At high speeds (65+mph) if the Jeep rolls over a rough patch on the highway the whole Jeep/steering wheel will shake violently until I let go of the gas. . .
Tl the contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, while getting on the highway the steering wheel began to shake aggressively slipping out of the driver's hands. The contact pulled over then eventually kept going. The failure recurred several hours later while using cruise control at approximately 90 mph. The contact slammed on the brake pedal until the vehicle stopped and then continued to drive. The failure recurred approximately 30 times. The contact took the vehicle to michiana Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram fiat (120 w mckinley Ave, mishawaka, in 46545; (574) 807-0414) where a diagnostic was still pending. The contact referenced TSB: 08/074/20 regarding the electric hydraulic steering unit. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,200.
While driving at speeds above 20 mph on the highway the car goes into a death wobble where it feels like the car is going to fall apart. The car shakes and the steering ability becomes unstable. The steering wheel shakes with the car and we need to get to the shoulder and stop. It happens randomly and at variable speeds. The dealer tries to appease us with fixes that do nothing to correct the problem. They claim that it is not dangerous and does not do anything to the effectiveness of the car. The car was purchased new a few months ago and it has been brought to the dealer three times for this issue without any fix (most recently December 24, 2019) where they changed out a steering damper based upon a recall. This did not correct the problem. Following that we were driving the car on vacation through the desert and the car went into a death wobble 10 times while on the highway. Upon returning home we contacted the dealer and informed them of these multiple episodes. The vehicle is going back in on January 6, 2020. At this point the car is unsafe to drive. We were not informed prior to our purchase about this dangerous issue with the Wrangler.
While driving on the interstate at approximately 72 mph, I drove over a bridge and subsequently bumps in the road. The steering wheel started shaking violently from side to side causing an increase in vibration through out my Jeep and swerving on the road. Next time I was with my husband and it did it again at about 74 mph and he too agreed that something is wrong. He now fears for my safety in this vehicle as I drive a lot of miles.
Steering wheel shakes violently after going over a minor bump or road roughness while driving at high speeds (55+) on the highway. It will sometimes correct itself and has not been too bad of a shake but over the weekend, I had to slow down from 70mph to 45mph in the middle of i95 b/c the steering wheel shook so bad and would not stop shaking until I slowed my speed down. This was as a result of going over a minor bump in the road. One time it happened while going around a curve in the highway and the "rumble strips" triggered it. This is a brand new car that I purchased in June. This wheel shaking just started a few weeks ago. Please look into this matter. It is unsafe and can cause an accident whether someone rear ends my vehicle while I am attempting to slow down or I lose control of my car b/c I cannot get the wheel shaking in control.
As I drove off the lot I noticed the instrument panel had a distortion on it. Dealership was unable to fix (after a software upgrade). More concerning is the car shakes violently when hitting a bump in the road. I took it in 3 times without resolution. Always on the highway, at first at high speeds, now even going below the speed limit. Sometimes it resolves on it's own, but lately I have to slow down or stop to make the shaking stop. (which is very dangerous when driving on a 65mph highway), the steering wheel shakes left to right and is very loose during these times. I feel very unsafe and it feels like the wheels are going to fall off. This is a brand new vehicle. It happened 5 times on a 15 mile trip to work this morning and has been happening since I bought the car in late February 2019.
After about 2700 miles on the odometer our stock Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon with no aftermarket parts started to have very poor steering, and was hard to keep in our lane. It also started to have the steering wheel shake back and forth fast when hitting an expansion join in the road or a bridge. The Jeep is now difficult to keep in our lane, and is very difficult to drive on narrow, windy or roads with construction. We were almost in multiple accidents once this started on a road trip. This issue gets worse and worse with speed. You can grab the tie rods ends and track bar and other steering components and they all now have like 1/8 in of play at each end. You can easily shake them up and down / back and forth. This was not an issue for the first 2500 or so miles. This is a very dangerous situation as at times you have to slow down very fast due to the steering wheel shaking. Also, it veers from side to side due to the loose steering where you can move the steering wheel over 1 1/2 inches without the tires moving at all. I have videos of all these issues occurring, and you can also see the steering components moving when the steering wheel is turned before the play is out and the wheels move. We are now scared to drive our vehicle due to our safety and the safety of others on the road.
