I responded to a safety recall ( n29/NHTSA/ 13v-234 for a defective transmission oil cooler tube) received in sept. 2013. I called the dealer and was told the part was not in stock, but would be ordered for me. Several weeks later I called again, still no part. The parts man informed me that the part was "being rationed" due to parts shortage - and that I would be contacted in the future. I asked if I was "in line" by my date of call, he said that I was. Still no contact. I do have a mysterious leak showing up on the garage floor - could it be this problem? my Jeep is a 2012 and has shown no leaks before.

I received a recall notice, n28- power train: automatic transmission: cooling unit and lines, from Chrysler in early October 2013 I believe. Since that time, I have contacted my local dealership numerous times, fair oaks Chrysler Jeep Dodge, and they continue to say that Chrysler is only providing a small number of replacement parts to each dealership every few weeks. So I have been put on a customer waiting list, who are at the mercy of Chrysler to send parts. I may not know much about cars, but I have to say I'm very concerned about the recall of a transmission hose that may cause a loss in fluid and transmission function. It has been 7 months since this recall was announced by Chrysler and there still aren't nearly enough parts to fix all the Jeeps affected, which is completely ridiculous and unacceptable!.
After numerous attempts to have a recall regarding the transmission oil cooling tube repaired I am writing to complain regarding Chrysler corporations extremely slow response to provide parts to my local dealer. After receiving the recall notice, I contacted my local dealer for the repair at the 3,500 mile service. I was told that the parts were not available. During the 7,000 mile service visit I was told that the parts were being rationed by Chrysler and my parts would be ordered. During the required alignment visit at 8,000 miles, I was told that there were 16 people in front of me. I next contacted Chrysler to complain and was told that they were aware of the problem and were trying to rectify the situation. I next emailed my dealer to express my frustration and was told that my email would be shared with the dealership hierarchy. Two days ago I received my third recall notice and emailed the dealership again to see if the part has arrived with no response.

When I first received notice of the recall for the transmission oil cooler tube problem I contacted my dealer right away, they said they would not receive parts for at least 2 months. I called again in October and was told another two months.
Chryslers recall for the temperature warning addressed the symptom not the problem. The transmissions are still overheating in the Wrangler. The solution is a $50 transmission cooler. This can happen both when off roading(which the Wrangler is built for) but others in our Jeep group have had the situation happen on road. My situation happened while driving on approximately a 20% grade on a dirt road at 20 mph---hot oil light came on and was forced to stop driving to allow cooling---later found out from the jk-forum online Jeep group that this is very common and that dealerships are not correcting with transmission cooler. . . But it is something you can do yourself if you have some mechanic skills. The issues is. . . If you add the cooler Chrysler can void you warranty. Please look into this as I said their recall under your number 09v436000 addressed the symptom but did not solver the real issue---[xxx]

Letter re the problems experienced with a 2010 Jeep Wrangler feels that vehicle falls under the new car lemon law (entire package not imaged, forwarded to nvs-200)
the consumer stated there have been repeated attempts to repair the vehicle. However, the vehicle remains defective. The consumer stated the vehicle was running sluggish and burning oil, but no leaks were found. The problem went on for several months. The consumer believed the engine was defective, but the dealer would not approve a new engine, so they kept replacing parts. The vehicle was eventually returned to the consumer, with the same problem. The dealer checked the engine again, and discovered it was burning 1 quart of oil per hour and it was determined the engine needed to be replaced. The hard top was leaking and ruined the carpet. The starter was defective. Also the transmission was exhibiting a burning smell, it would slip and wouldn't go into gear and the fluid was no longer the correct color. Also, the temperature gauge rose just under the overheating point. The radiator cooling fan was defective. Also, there was a grinding noise coming from the transfer case.

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that his transmission over heated and the fluid leaked on the exhaust which caused a fire to occur. The failure caused the plastic fuel lines to melt which caused the fire to spread under the engine compartment destroying the entire vehicle. There were no injuries. The manufacturer stated 22 days ago that a representative would inspect the vehicle; however, he has not received a call. A police/fire report is available if needed. The failure mileage was 28,000.

Air bag sensor light illuminated and knocked out digital console readings. Both doors bulked in half due to cold weather, failing to latch shut. Steering box is leaking due to a crack. Last item was replaced three weeks prior to recurring failure. Transmission and torque converter were repaired due to leaking transmission cooler lines.
