The contact's husband arrived at the scene, removed the tire, and zip tied the caliper to the frame, and the vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the brake pads, rotors, and the calipers were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front brake lines had rusted internally, causing the brake lines to collapse. The dealer informed the contact that the failure prevented the brake fluid to reach the brakes, which remained close to the rotors and had burned out. The dealer determined that the front driver's side brake line, rotors, calipers, and the brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,100.

Driver side front and rear brake calipers failed. 31765 miles on vehicle. Smelled something burning and rough ride. Took vehicle to Jeep dealer. Told $2,100 to repair and caused by my only driving vehicle 31000 miles in 4 years. Told dealer I believed this was safety issue and I was filing NHTSA complaint. Fca provided replacement brake calipers for all 4 wheels and failed brake hose at no charge. Dealer repaired at $965 cost to me for damage caused by failed brake calipers.
Take the vehicle to service department repair brakes which had calipers locked up and picked up the vehicle but the brakes went to near the floor took back the vehicle and it is romaine there now to figure out the problem total of 1 week so far also when driving home with it vehicle had to pump the brakes to get stopped.

Between 41,258 miles and less than 43,000 miles, front brake calipers locked up. Husband thrown forward toward windshield -- without applying the brakes -- at city driving speed but was saved by his seatbelt from going through the windshield. It also felt like the brakes were very grabby earlier on that trip and more acceleration was needed to make the car travel forward as the wheels seemed not to move freely, like they were being held back. Rotors severely scored, couldn't be machined. Both front calipers, rotors, hoses, pads, lines, fluids all required replacement according to koons tysons Jeep in vienna, va. In a 2 second goggle search of Jeep owner's forum brake complaints, there are over 300 similar brake caliper and locking up complaints for 3rd generation Wrangler vehicles between 2007 and 2017. The dealership shared with us that the new parts they used for our front brake repair are the re-engineered oem parts designed by Jeep and that this is a common issue with the original front brake parts that shipped on these vehicles from the factory (yet there is no recall to date -- if Jeep re-designed the original parts, they clearly know there is a safety issue here, plus they supply the Jeep owner's forum??). We were given an invoice of $1,500+ for the front brake repairs. We contacted Jeep customer service who denied knowledge of this front brake safety issue. They asked the dealership to work with us to discount the price as warranty expired at 36,000 miles, but Jeep did not do anything for us directly. Jeep did acknowledge on the phone that they may need their recall division to look into this safety issue. We also happened to discuss this issue with our son, who then told us he had the same brake issues with his 2016 Jeep Wrangler unlimited which had to have 3 brake repairs for this issue before he got rid of it because he was afraid to drive it.

Brakes seized up with only 37,000 miles. It required a full frontal brake rebuild. The mechanics said this shouldn't have happened with such low mileage and year. Because they were "seized" up, it caused everything to heat up and ruined the calipers, pad and rotars. It was unsafe to drive when we took it in to the mechanic.
Calipers lock up for no reason causing a safety issue as well as damaging the brake pads and rotors.
Front right brake on '17 Wrangler (caliper) froze shut while in motion on highway moving approximately 45 mph. Smoke was visible above front right wheel, vehicle shook while in motion. Vehicle has 19,000 miles, zero indication of low brake pads which should last well over 45,000 miles, and only the right brake pad wore down. Dealership claims low brake pad caused issue, therefore wear & tear. Due to no prior brake issues/slow braking/ squeaking, and current mileage, I'm of the opinion that brakes locked due to design or mechanical issues rather than lack of maintenance.
All four brake rotors seized up. Traveling from work on secondary roads at speeds between 30 and 45 mph. I was smelling hot brakes. When trying to stop the Jeep pulled hard to the right, almost uncontrollably. When I got home I touched the wheels and all were super hot to the touch. Had the vehicle brought in for repair. Service reported all four calipers show signs of being seized up. Pads and rotors show damage from overheating. Needed to replace all four rotors, calipers and pads.

2013 Jeep Wrangler had 72,000 highway miles, never towed or beat on Jeep. While driving at 70mph on highway car suddenly swerved violently to right and left multiple times, almost flipped over. Had it towed to belle tire and found right rear axel went out, affected calipers and brakes all had to be replaced. I was less than 2 months out of powertrain, called they wont reimburse since it was not repaired at Jeep dealer. The car abs/tracktion control lights went on, hardly went forward due to brakes locked up and smelled like it was burning, actual right rear rim too hot to touch, wouldn't even move in gear unless gassed it. Never had a warning, rear brakes had just been replaced two months earlier.
My name is jimmy mcmillan. I run a repair shop called glen allen service center. We have had 3 Jeep Wranglers (2007, 2007, and 2008) that have needed brake hose replacement in the last 4 months. The first one we noticed the hose was swollen where a rubber cover is made over the steel line crimp at the frame and the brake caliper. We advised the customer to replace it which he did. The other two were towed in with complete brake system failure (brake pedal to the floor). Chrysler has redesigned the hoses but there has been no recall issued. After a 30 mile trip, I discovered that the left front brake of my Jeep Wrangler was overheated, confirmed by a distinct burning smell, an extremely hot left front wheel, and a pulling sensation when brakes were applied. The next day, I took the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealer for diagnosis and repair. I was told that both front brake calipers were "bad", and needed replacing. The left rear brake caliper engages randomly. When engaged the vehicle is slowed somewhat. Sometimes there will be coming off the disc pads. I have noticed that I can clear the condition by following the hill start assist on/off procedure. A mechanic told me this is a computer failure and he can fix it for $1300. I think it is a serious safety issue.
I have 24,000 miles and noticed grinding coming from my passenger rear wheel. I went to an auto repair shop. They informed me that the caliper is partially froze and needed a new one. It also ruined my brake and rotor on that side. They also recommended to not install one side but to make both match. Due to a faulty caliper I am out $500. The auto mechanic said he has oddly seen this on relatively new Jeep Wranglers too frequent. I went online and found out from Jeep forums that this is happening often. I'm not too sure on how the recall process works. . . But I wouldn't mind trying to recover some/all of my costs due to faulty oem equipment.
1. Hit a bump going 55mph on the highway and experienced the death wobble. Had to hit the brakes and slow down immediate to 25 mph. Super dangerous on the freeway. Thankfully this was a city freeway that had a speed limit of 55mph. I don't know what would've happened if I was going faster, say on an interstate where the speed limit is 80mph. 2. Whenever I fill up the gas always overflow. So each time now I have to squeeze the pump gently and hold it for the entire fill up. 3. The rear caliper sticks sometimes.

While driving about 50 mph violent shaking of entire vehicle. This has happened twice. It is brake or stability control related. Have to come to a complete stop and start again for shaking to stop. Also have had to change both front calipers due to overheat damage. The overheat is a result of brakes applied by stability control or traction control when there is no need for either.

2 weeks ago my front passenger brake caliper seized while driving. It smoked and was unsafe to drive as I lost the ability to steer safely. I had to replace the caliper, pads and resurface the rotor. Yesterday my rear driver-side caliper failed while driving locally. I only have 38k miles on this Jeep and do not drive off-road. Jeep is pristine, well maintained and used sparingly. Searching nhts database I saw several similar reports and all reported problems involved 2008 Jeep Wrangler, however no recall or TSB?!? how many reports does NHTSA need to connect the dots here? I'm so thankful my daughter wasn't driving, as she would not have been able to recover the vehicle during the first incident. I have been driving for 37 years & never had a vehicle have a single caliper failure and now it's happened twice within two weeks on the same vehicle. There are less than 3k miles driven on these brake pads.
I have had several big issues with my Jeep in the last month and a half. First my brake caliper and piston were frozen due to the fluids not flowing properly according to my mechanic. 2 weeks later my airbag light came on and stayed on brought it into the dealership and they needed to replace my clock spring and the third issue was my engine light that came on and then my car would not start. I needed to replace my alternator which was faulty and then drained my battery which I also had to replace. These three issues have cost me over $1000. 00 dollars in a short period of time. I was wondering if any of them are a issue with my make and model and year of my vehicle. This is becoming I safety issue in my eyes. Especially my brakes and airbag issue.

After being in park without using the ebreak, the ebreak light went on. Following was a squeeling screeching noise. The breaks in rear drivers side remain locked doing damage to the caliper and rotor. There is something mechanically wrong with the breaks where they will not stop applying pressure. This is not the first complaint I have seen in a similar situation with the same make model and year car. This should not be happening with such a new vehicle.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle began vibrating abnormally. The contact applied the brakes and there was an abnormal clicking noise exhibited from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was determined that there was a bolt missing from the front passenger's side brake caliper. The front passenger's side caliper bracket, rotor and side wheel were replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no further assistance. Over time the stock l/f tire rubbed through the brake line causing the l/f caliper to lock up wearing down the l/f brake pads and overheating the rotor. The brake hose, capliper, brake pads and front brake rotors needed to be replaced. I had an independent mechanic look at this and he believes it is a defect in the design on the vehicle. The stock l/f tire should never touch the brake line within the turning radius of the vehicle. I was very lucky that I didn't travel very far with the caliper locked on the wheel, it could of led to a fire. Chrysler did not claim any fault and charged me for the repair. I have found other similiar complaints posted online.
While driving the Jeep Wrangler on a smooth pavement @ 55mph the steering wheel began shaking violently and the entire vehicle was shaking. It seemed as if both front wheels were loose. I immediately braked, pulled off the highway to a complete stop. Upon finding nothing loose I proceeded down the highway, upon reaching 55mph the vehicle repeated the shaking. I have replaced the track bar, steering dampener, front brake rotors, brake pads, new tires, wheels checked with calipers,and 2 alignments. I still cannot exceed 55mph without the violent shaking.

I have had vehicle for 2 weeks,have driven it less tha 200 miles,right rear brake locked up and would not release,when I got home wheel was hotter than fire and smoking. I replaced rear pads,they had about 3/16 of inch pad left. Piston in caliper compressed easy so put pads on and drove about 15 miles and came home only to find rt rear smoking again. I am assuming now its the emergency brake,which I have never used being an automatic.

My daughters 2009 Jeep wagoneer x which she has owned new since may had the right front brake caliper fall offwhile she was operating the vehicle. She was driving at 25mph when this happened (thank goodness). The font wheel locked up and made the back of the Jeep to come up off the ground. When the tow truck driver arrived he stated that this was the second one he had to come after for the same problem. Currently the only maintenance that this Jeep has had is normal service of the engine( oil changes).

Front brake vibrate violently,and have been changed 4 times within the 1. 5 yrs I have owned the truck. My drivers seat frame is cracked (the metal frame) I use a pillow to keep it streight because it leans to thee left due to the weld crack in the frame. I have gotten no where with 2 different dealerships and shelled out well over 2. 000 dollars on rotors and brakes. The rear brakes hardlry work also I can pull I=the emergency brake and the truck will not even slow down the fronts do all the work and it has been in for brake repairs by several different shops. There must be a recall because thie is a severe danger and is going to really cause a problem or worse deaths.
