The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Wrangler. While traveling at speeds of 50 mph, the front end of the vehicle began to vibrate abnormally. The vehicle was not diagnosed and there were no prior warnings. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 36,000. Updated 07/26/10. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer. Upon inspection, they stated the belts in the tires had separated, the front rotors were warped and the steering dampener failed. Updated 08/06/jb

The vehicle began shaking when brakes were applied, more violently the faster the vehicle was going. I had this checked at a brake shop first, where they said the pads were fine, but the rotor was warped. I then took it to the tire shop to have the tires rotated and balanced, although this was also just done a few months prior. I was instructed to take it to the dealer since the vehicle has only 23000 miles on it. Not only did my dealer not warranty the problem, they wanted to put a "make it new kit" on for $355, perform differential service $121, drain and refill rear differential fluid $121, and rotate and balance tires (because they listened to nothing I told them) for $49. 95 for a grand total of $671. 90. When I told him I would take it elsewhere, I was charged for the estimate $24. 95. I was also told by my service advisor that he or his manager saw no reports on this web site. Hmmmm. . . . Mine is the 6th such case on here. I just wonder how many there are that have not been reported? this is my fourth Wrangler and I've never been treated so rudely in my life. It's a shame the Chrysler Jeep Wrangler cannot stand up to the true american Jeep, because they've gone to using cheap faulty parts!!! updated 04/23/08.
My rotors in my '06 Wrangler went bad at 9500 miles, shaking violently when stopping. They were replaced, but now at 20k the same thing is occurring! I was told Chrysler will turn them for free but will not replace them again. They never replaced the original pads either. I am very upset to see such a trend of complaints with the rotors and the company still continues to use cheap, defective parts. The mechanic the first time told me this is common and Chrysler does not care once you bought the vehicle. Things replaced so far, and these were under 10kmiles; steering stabilizer/rotors/slave cylinder in clutch($700 job)/not delivered with tinted rear windows/hesitation and stalling at a red lights/strap broke off rivet in soft top. Clutch still making the noise that was diagnosed as slave cylinder (its the throttle bearing da!!!).
In Aug of 2005 at 10,000 miles I noticed a shudder in the front end when stopping proceeded to the dealership and they said my rotors needed resurfacing which they did for free it was covered under warranty . Within a year it began again summer of 2006 with 35,000 miles total on the vehicle the rotors and pads had to be replaced as the shudder when stopping over 45 mph began again my rotors were warped of course the warranty is no longer available after 12,000 miles. Now once again August 2007 I just had the rotors and pads replaced again at 60,000 miles .

I purchased my Jeep Wrangler in July of 2005 brand new. In July of 2005 I started experiencing a vibrating when braking at speeds of 45mph and above. The problem still persists. I had it looked at by a local technician who said if he had to guess he would assume the rotors had 50,000 miles on them. The funny thing is the only have half of that at 25,000 miles. The local dealerships are claiming that there is no warranty on the brakes and the recent recall has nothing to do with the Wrangler and/or Wrangler unlimited models, stating it only applies to the grand cherokee even though there are several complaints.
While driving @ 55-60 mph and applying the brakes my 2006 Jeep Wrangler shakes like it is going to fall apart. It has less than 12000 miles on it and this is the 2nd pair of rotors within a short period of time, around 3 months. Now I'm told by the service department that its my driving style, that I should down shift to make it easier on the brakes. Which I already do down shift. The repair was taken care of free of charge because of the short period of time between the rotor changes. But, that the next time I will have to pay for it!! let me tell you that I'm pissed!!! this is bull &*$# and I'm not going to be pushed over and told its the way I drive, when its apparent that there is something else causing the problem. Funny, I don't need brake pads but the rotors keep $%&in' up. . . A defect or what. Excuse my language but, I'm a 43 year old woman that doesn't want to be jerked around by my service dept. And told its my driving style! I want something done about it. I only lease this vehicle and if I could give it back today. . . I would!!! I also intend to e-mail Chrysler about this also. Warped rotors on 2003 Jeep Wrangler with 23,000 miles. When the brake pedal was depressed the steering wheel shook, causing steering problems. Plus, the vehicle did not stop as fast as it should because the brake pads did not apply even pressure on warped rotors. If not fixed may result in an accident. Rotors and brake pad will have to be replaced at a cost of approximately $375. 00.

My 2005 Jeep Wrangler purchased from moothart Jeep was experiencing an uncontrollable shaking at speeds between 30-40 mph. I had to pull off the freeway to get it checked out. Mechanic told me it was a problem with the rotors. When I called the dealer to explain the problem, they dismissed the rotors as the cause and blamed my all-terrain tires (without even looking at the car) and stated that my warranty would not cover it because of these new tires. Car was towed to the dealership anyway and they blamed stabilizer. They claimed to have replaced the stabilizer under warranty (out of courtesy). When I picked up the car and tried to drive it home, the car was shaking worse than when it came in on the tow truck. I called the service manager who told me that the tires were too heavy for the car. I inquired about why a 4-wheel drive off-vehicle car would not be able to handle all-terrain tires. He had no logical answer for me. I brought the car to my mechanic (who specializes in tires) to check the tires and anything that could be causing this. They ultimately fixed the defective rotor, and the cars runs fine. He told me that the tires were fine; it was a problem with the rotors. During this process, I contacted daimler Chrysler about this issue and they told me all service problems are the responsibility of the service manager at that particular dealership. I informed them that I had already spoke to him and he refused to attribute the problem to anything else but the tires. They gave me information regarding the lemon laws in California. The car had only 9,303 miles when this problem occurred and only 1. 5 years old. The vehicle came with a 7-year warranty, but they refused to look at the rotors on the car.
2004 Jeep Wrangler 24,000 miles. I do not drive my wife's Jeep that often so not sure when this started but it developed a severe shake in front end, took into the dealer and they changed the front shocks. I drove it a few weeks later and the same thing was still happening, dealer changed the stabilizer. Again, a few week later had it out and still the same problem. . . Took it back to the dealer, this time they advised it has warped rotors due to bad driving habits. This is my wife's vehicle that has never been off road and drives highway miles to work, not sure what the "bad habits" are. The shake is fairly violent at times and could cause a serious accident. The dealer will not repair as brakes are not covered. I have read many reports of this problem, why have they not been advised to repair this condition?.

There was an uncontrollable shaking during braking mainly at high speeds of >45 mph and small shaking at <45mph. I knew it was the rotors being warped. The shaking started when there was ~10000 miles on the vehicle. I took the vehicle into the service place at suburban Chrysler Jeep and they confirmed the issue with the rotors being out of round. Although the milage of my vehicle when it was fixed was ~18000 miles they still machined the rotors free of charge. This solved the problem. I now have 24000 miles on the vehicle and the problem is non existent.
I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. The problem: the right front rotor continues to warp. Since I have purchased the vehicle in 2003, I have had to have the rotor turned. The warped rotor causes alot of vibration when breaking at highway speeds. When I have spoke to the maintience folks at mack masey Jeep they have stated this has been a continual problem with Jeep vehicles, they have had approximately 100 come in with the same problem.
I bought my 2005 Jeep unlimited with 6,000 miles on it. I have been to the dealership seven times to have it fixed. My major complaint is it surges out of control when taking my foot off the brakes from a stopped position. It does it in drive and in reverse without warning. The dealership has no solution. I also have a problem with the steering wheel shaking once I hit a small bump in the road,as small as the reflectors that line the middle of streets. There are times the steering wheel shakes so hard that I have to let go of the steering wheel. They have replaced my steering stabilizer arm,I've had the rotors turned I've replaced the brakes. Replacing the stabilizer arm seemed to help for a short time. My other issue with this lovley death trap of mine is when I run the a/c the whole thing bogs down like I'm pulling an eighteen wheeler out of a ditch. The dealership solution was to come in and test drive another Jeep to see if I "actually have a problem". When I take my car to the dealership they keep it for at least two weeks and the problems are still there. My advice to other Jeep owners with these problems is to always take the back roads and always leave a car length of space all the way around your Jeep, and never use the a/c!these problems began at about 10,000 miles and my Jeep just rolled over32,000 miles.
I currently own a Jeep grand cherokee 2004, at around 12,000 miles wheel started shaking uncontrollable. Took it to dealer and was told rotors had to be replaced. They did it for free and told me next time they are not covered. It is now 29,000 miles and same thing is happening again I never heard of such a thing. I owned many cars in my life and never once went through rotors on any of them. If Chrysler knows of problem why wont they address it.
My 2004 Jeep grand cherokee after 30,000 miles has developed what is known as "warped rotors" there is a pulsation when applying the brake pedal at high speeds. This has become even worse. It seems that these rotors keeps going bad for the Jeep cherokee. The government should issue a recall on the front rotors of all cherokees from 1999 to 2004. My wife uses the car everyday to take our two small children to school. She is afraid to drive the car now. Dealer says there is nothing they can do. I am supposed to pay for a new sets of rotors but the real problem is the material that was used to make the original rotors.
Rotors have been replaced twice in a brand new vehicle, once at 6k miles and again at 11k miles, because of excessive vibrations/shaking/pulsating in the steering wheel when applying the brakes at speeds of 50 - 55 mph. Problem continues to reoccur and rotors need to be replaced a third time. Vehicle now has 15k miles.
Between 50 and 60 mph the front of vehicle shakes violently when brakes are applied.
My break peddle began to violently vibrate when I would break. I took my Jeep to the dealer where I bought it and was told my rotors were warped. They said it was because of the way I drove the car. I am 36 years old and do not go "off-roading". I have never had to replace the rotors on any car! this car is less than 2 years old.
Between the speed 50 and 60 mph when the brakes are used the whole front end of the car shakes violently. I have had 2 new sets of rotors put on the car and the rotors re-cut twice, but the problem still exists.
My 2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited began having an intermittent squeak this summer. At the end of October the dealer informed me that the vehicle needs the brake pads and rotors replaced and that this item was not covered under warranty. The vehicle has only 26,000 miles and I have never had to replace brake pads this early in other vehicles I have owned. I called the Chrysler customer care line and was told that they could do nothing about the problem.
2004 Jeep Wrangler's front brake rotors warped.
Front brake vibrate violently, and have been changed 4 times within the 1. 5 yrs I have owned the truck. My drivers seat frame is cracked (the metal frame) I use a pillow to keep it streight because it leans to thee left due to the weld crack in the frame. I have gotten no where with 2 different dealerships and shelled out well over 2. 000 dollars on rotors and brakes. The rear brakes hardlry work also I can pull I=the emergency brake and the truck will not even slow down the fronts do all the work and it has been in for brake repairs by several different shops. There must be a recall because thie is a severe danger and is going to really cause a problem or worse deaths.
Rotors are warped and corroded. Mechanic said also cracked. When applying brake vehicle shakes and steering wheel vibrates. Braking distance is not what it should be.

Brake rotors had to be re-finished after only 8000 miles. I question the quality of materials Chrysler is using. Steering wheel rubbing: steering column would make a rubbing noise every time it was turned. Did this even on the initial test drive new off the lot. They said it was a simple lubrication issue. 2 weeks later, the noise was back. I brought it in a total of 6 times before the problem was finally resolved, apparently with some new super slick polymer and only after I personally called the factory to get advice. Other issues: driver's seat creaks like an old tractor. They couldn't fix it. I had the problem with the gauges on my dash going off. They knew what that was and dixed it. Exhaust manifold went after only 12,000 miles (more substandard parts used by Chrysler). This is why I hesitate to buy american.
Front brake rotors had experienced thumping when pedal was depressed due to rotors developing rust. Front brake rotors needed to be turned with low mileage accumulation.
At 28 thousand miles rotors were under safty standards. Consumer had rotors changed. Please provide further informaton.
Computer/front brake rotors and engine oil filter failed.
