2 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/01/2007

I had my vehicle electrical and brakes cut out 3 times (almost in an accident twice). I spoke to a dealership near me 3 times and one time they tried to replicate it. They said they did not know what caused it. Through searching on this site, I found that it was a common problem and a recall (g25-reprogram tipm-engine stall) to fix it. The dealership played dumb to the issue until proof was shown, but still would not fix it because my VIN# did not match recall specific list. Chrysler also would not ok them to fix it (ref#16730876) because I did not have the right VIN#, eventhough it is the right model, year, symptoms, etc. Chrysler did not care that it was a safety issue and that it could be solved. I was told to try to replicate it for the dealership. Concerned for safety, I went back to the dealership where I bought it. They instantly knew about the issue described and reprogrammed the tipm with no charge (they obviously understood the danger). Chrysler needs to expand their recall list and change its policy on such a dangerous situation. Luckily there was some humanity still around at the place where I bought it.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/24/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. While driving 35 mph, the abs locked up. The dealer did not know how to repair the vehicle under NHTSA campaign id number 06v493000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock:control unit/module ). She stated that she will locate another dealer and notify the manufacturer. The current mileage was 3,000 and failure mileage was 1,000.

4 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/17/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle fails to accelerate and shuts off after coming to a complete stop. The ignition switch must be turned off in order to restart the engine. He stated that the vehicle stalled five times within the last ten days. The dealer has reprogrammed the computer at least twice. Also, when making a right turn, the anti-skid control activates and the brakes are applied. The anti-skid control light illuminates and then dims after the turn is made. The dealers verified with a road test that the anti-skid does activate at approximately 25-35 mph, but no repairs have been made. The contact was unsure of the component names regarding the reprogramming and anti-skid failures. The current mileage was 4,200 and failure mileage was 3,300.

5 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/04/2007

When coasting to a stop, going uphill on a highway, the brake pedal locks-up when you put your foot on the brake. After a few seconds, it releases and brakes normally. This has happened 3 times at the same intersection (may 2007, August 2007, sept. 2007). All three times resulted in near-miss accidents. The vehicle was in for repair for this problem, but the dealer could not replicate it. Even though he could not replicate the problem, the service manager advised us to get rid of the car because it was an obvious safety issue. On 9/14, while the car was still at the dealer, Chrysler announced a recall for this incident and advised customers that had experienced this problem to take the car to the dealer immediately. Ours has now been there for 6 weeks, with no end in sight. We have also had the engine stall when traveling on a twisty road near our residence. This has happened 1 time. This problem has occurred in the same model as ours, but was believed to have been addressed before ours was built. However, we still have the problem and no solution from Chrysler.

6 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/15/2007

2004 Jeep Wrangler sport goes into a violent shake when driving approximately 55 mph. I've read about the death wobble on more than one web site or blog. I took it to the dealer, and they said it was the steering stablizer , but I believed this only mask, the real problem. I spoke to a local 4x4 shop and they said Jeep made the lower contol arm too short and this pushed the front end down and the angles were off. Also, said the aftermaket replacements were approx 3/4" longer than the oem. My Jeep was stock, not lifted. This problem has caused the tires to cup, brakes, and steering stabilizer to wear out earlier than normal. It was only a matter of time before someone got killed or injured.

7 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

The fuel gage displayed empty; however, the vehicle had a 1/2 a tank of gas. The dealer has been unable to diagnose the failure. The contact conducted a test four times and each time after 4 minutes the engine stalled, began to coast and the engine shut off. The mechanic was in the vehicle on one of those occasions. The current and failure mileage were 900. There were no injuries.

8 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/31/2006

I was approaching a red light and approximately 3 car lengths away from the vehicle already stopped at the light I began braking and heard a noise under the floor board and while pushing the brake pedal all the way down and the braking system did not slow or stop the vehicle at all. I lifted the brake pedal from the floor and reapplied it and the vehicle did not slow down or stop until it ran into the back of the other vehicle. Upon impact the vehicle began to idle up really high as if it were trying to drive itself. I took my foot off the break pedal and after I placed the vehicle in park and pulled the emergency break the vehicle stopped idling up high.

15 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/22/2000

Rear brakes extremely weak/ non existant in 2wd mode. Notice the problem most when backing down hill in 2wd and brakes applied - vehicle will slide alot even at very low speeds. In 4wd the stopping distance is fine. This vehicle has abs and we tried disabling it (at the dealers - a dealer tech pulled relay) and problem still there. I jacked up rear of car & in drive at idle speed the rear tires would not stop even with full brakes applied. The parking brake works fine & must be used in conjunction with brake pedal to stop when backing down a hill, otherwise vehicle must be in 4wd for brakes to work properly. Has been in shop twice, they replaced proporting valve on last trip but this did not help. The first time they fried my onboard computer & had the Jeep in the shop for a month. This has done it since day one. The dealer keeps saying nothing is wrong.

I have e-mailed you several times and no answer. Front brakes on my Jeep lock up on slick road and you have no control, almost wrecked several times. Anti lock brakes do not work on front. Vehicle has anti-lock brakes on all four wheels. I cannot get any satisfaction from company. Servioce manager drove it and almost wrecked. Another mechanic drove it and said the only way that you could stop it on slick road was 4-wheel. I paid $23,900. 00 for it and should be able to drive it on sllick roads.
