1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/22/2020

Purchase 2012 Jeep Wrangler jku used. Parking brake would not hold vehicle when purchased. Every component in the parking brake schematic has been replaced with new. Parking brake properly adjusted twice, still unable to hold vehicle at 7 degree incline sloped driveway. Even tried over-tightening the star wheel adjuster for the brake pads, still does not hold vehicle. Conclusion, 2012 Jeep Wrangler jku is too heavy for the fca designed parking brake, this vehicle will create a crash when it moves out of a parking space into traffic because of under designed parking brake.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/02/2020

My brakes went out when driving it down the road. I took it to pope davis and they said the hydraulic hoses went bad causing the callipers, rotors, and pads to go bad. Then I found out there was a recall on this but when I called chystler they said my vehicle wasn't affected. Yes obviously it was. I spent $800 on having the hydraulic hoses, callipers, pad, and rotars replaced.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/25/2019

The first incidence, the anti lock brakes seized while driving on a dry evening at a speed of about 25mph causing the vehicle behind me to nearly collide and forcing us both off the road. I had it looked at bh a mechanic and he found nothing so said to bring it back next time it happens. The vehicle was fine for a week and then it happened again from the driveway. It happened 3 times on the road nearly causing an accident and several other times forcing drivers behind me to pass. I find it happens in the first mile or 2 after starting a drive and then is ok. I brought it back to the mechanic and he suggested replace all of the electrical modules associated with brakes and replace the brakes and pads since the seizing of the abs has caused premature wear of the brakes. I am concerned for my safety and the safety of others but cannot afford $1300 repair especially if it should be covered under safety recall.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/14/2018

I purchased on September 14, 2018 that has what is called the "death wobble". It only occurs when driving over 60 miles an hour. It is caused by a faulty steering damper. I brought it in for the first time in December 4, 2018 when I could not gain control of the car and almost wrecked. It was the 6 time it had happened. The car was seized immediately, it was a safety issue. I was told to clean the car out and they couldn't tell me when I would have it returned. I also was having them check the brakes as they had been squeaking. I did not receive the car back until January 8 2019. At that time, I was told it was fine. The brakes continued to squeak and when it snowed, I found out the defroster was not in working order. I was told the defroster part was on back order (still not fixed and its April 1, 2019) and they grinded the pads or rotors due to a glaze on them. The brakes were soft and still squeaking. On February 20 they said they would order new brakes. March 1, brakes locked up and I almost wrecked. I pumped them and they worked after that. I immediately drove the car there and left it. The brakes were replaced, and I picked the car up on the March 7, 2019. March 16, 2019 I was going over the bridge at 65 miles an hour and the "death wobble" started again. I asked my husband to drive it and it did it to him as well at about 65 miles an hour as he went over a bump. We left town on Sunday March 17 and did not return until the 22. On March 23, 2019 we brought the car in. The technician confirmed it was the steering wheel damper was faulty again. To this day I still do not have the car and have been told that they have a "new" part. This will be the 3rd time. Ddocuments, do not show every time I was in there nor what was really happening. It said my brakes were soft and didn't mention that they locked up and seized to work.

7 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/10/2012

Bought a certified used vehicle from fairfield Dodge, crysler, Jeep in muncy , PA and in 4 months of owning this vehicle it had a recall on the transmission skid plate, engine light on due to broken sensor, in need of four brake rotors and brake pads. They stated that when they serviced the vehicle when they purchased it that the rotors were cut for the last time when they certified the vehicle for sale on the lot. And now four months later it needs $1,200. 00 worth of repairs. They state that the esim was broken by me or someone that was under the hood and that I would have to pay for the parts but not the labor the same with the brakes. I feel that this vehicle should have never been front line ready or even certified with all these issues, they are very, very poor representitives of your brand. I did not buy a Jeep to have major problems within four months of purchase. Then when I arrived the day of service they no longer had my recall part they put it on another vehicle that came in before mine. I live two hours away from the dealership and they failed to do there job.

8 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/06/2011

My 2008 Jeep shakes violently when it hit a rough patch of road. This has happened 10 times to me the first time was 4/06/2011 the most recent time was 3/26/2012. I have replaced the damper bar (3) times, rotors and brake pads. I have taken my Jeep to glendale and south county Jeep in st. Louis, mo and they tell me I need to replace the damper bar and get new tires. [xxx] from customer care at Chrysler has been very nice but not very helpful. I am not convinced this is the problem since reading that many other Jeep owners have experienced the same problem. I hope the us government steps up and helps. Please help before someone get killed. I look forward to someone contacting me since Jeep feels they do not have a problem. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

9 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/28/2010

Rear brakes worn and failing due defective pistons. Took the Jeep in to have the problem looked at and I was told this is normal for Jeep Wrangler by the technician. The Jeep was purchased in April of 2008. It has 32,149 miles. The front brakes had more than 70% pad left. My concern is if the pistons are applying constant pressure to brake pads can this cause them to overheat and potentially catch fire? I contacted Jeep directly and they said that if the technician at the dealership says it's normal wear and tear then there was nothing they could do for me. I've been driving for 25 years and never ever had a vehicle do this before. I did some searching on the web and discovered others are experiencing this problem. Case number I filed with Jeep [xxx] number called to filer complaint with Jeep 800-992-1997. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/14/2009

Would go from 30 mph and up apply the brakes and get a violent shaking. Took it to goodyear (had only 24000 btw) when we got new tires put on it and the guy said the rotors were 3/16 past turning. They wanted to charge us $875 for napa rotors. Went to the dealership they said it wasn't their problem and nothing had been reported. So seeing we were defeated we asked for prices on rotors (since we were there) $310 for driver side and $325 for passenger. I was like uhm ok. . . . Went to four wheel parts got a drilled set made in USA with pads for $275 out the door. I mean I figured why pay over 600 and have them only last another 24000 miles? got 54000 on it now with the us brakes and haven't had a problem. Btw it stops alot better than the stock ones did. Oh an I said 1 injury because I did injure my wrist trying to hold it on the road everytime I drove it.

14 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/16/2007

I purchased my Jeep Wrangler in July of 2005 brand new. In July of 2005 I started experiencing a vibrating when braking at speeds of 45mph and above. The problem still persists. I had it looked at by a local technician who said if he had to guess he would assume the rotors had 50,000 miles on them. The funny thing is the only have half of that at 25,000 miles. The local dealerships are claiming that there is no warranty on the brakes and the recent recall has nothing to do with the Wrangler and/or Wrangler unlimited models, stating it only applies to the grand cherokee even though there are several complaints.

15 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2003 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/15/2007

Warped rotors on 2003 Jeep Wrangler with 23,000 miles. When the brake pedal was depressed the steering wheel shook, causing steering problems. Plus, the vehicle did not stop as fast as it should because the brake pads did not apply even pressure on warped rotors. If not fixed may result in an accident. Rotors and brake pad will have to be replaced at a cost of approximately $375. 00.
