Dash warning “service axle locker system” . I have never used my axle lockers once, nor been off road with my Jeep & the differential tried to lock itself. This is dangerous. If differential locks could cause fatalities. Yes, have taken my Jeep to the dealership 3 times, it is currently under investigation, have had the rear diff replaced once, the reason: diff oil slowly works its way inside the sensor over time and since diff oil has metallic flakes in it from the bearings/gears it will cause the circuit board in the locker sensor to short out. Once that happens the only fix is a new axle. You cannot buy the sensor separately. Not isolated situation. Many Wrangler owners from 2018 to 2021 posting this up. According to jl Wrangler forum, fca does not have a fix yet. This should not be happening on a $65k vehicle in first 90 days! several owners on 3rd and 4th axle replacements. There are 30 pages of complaints on this. Decided to report this as it appears from the forum fca does not have a fix this is appearing on several Jeep Wrangler rubicon's,.

2021 rubicon 88 days old 2097 miles. 3/27/2021. Purchased 1/3/2021. Dash warning intermittent service axle locker system. I have never used my axle lockers once. Came on after riding up a very short dirt hill in 4l after shifting back to 4h then my dash began flashing intermittently service axle locker system on and off. Had to drive it home this way with the alert flashing on ans off. Got into driveway and differential tried to lock itself in my driveway while backing and filling into garage. This is dangerous. If differential locks at 70mph on freeway or going down step winding road unexpectedly fear this could cause an accident. At dealer now. Replaced rear axle assembly. Still broken, throwing codes, dealer trying other things. Please know not isolated situation. Many Wrangler owners from 2018 to 2021 posting this up. I have gone through over 4 sets of mud terrain tires over the last two years that are unevenly worn and no one knew why. Most recently, the rear right tire had a sidewall gash and had a flat tire, we began smelling smoke and ended up taking the Jeep into brakemasters and was told the entire rear differential was failing and falling apart. We had the rear diff replaced, brakes, rotors and paid $5000 out of pocket and as I was driving from home to tucson the other day to my maternity appointment, the back right tire began screeching while not braking and began sizzling and burning with oil coming out from the tire. I immediately stopped at the nearest brakemasters and they said that an entirely new rear differential is needed. Not only could the Jeep have caught on fire with this safety issue but I kept losing control of the steering in the middle of the city with a 2 year old and one on the way. I am hoping to see some sort of resolution on this and to be communicated with other Jeep owners of this safety issue.

I was driving on city street driving 25 mph , when my Jeep Wrangler ceased immediately. Differential leaked fluid. I have also noticed the rear brake passenger side leak which I believe connects to differential. I brought it to a technician attention when I took my car to a recall and mentioned its not a problem. I had my children in my car. Could have caused a fatal accident. Lucky I was not on a highly driving 70 mph.

The front wheels shimmy at freeway speeds when hitting a slight uneven seam or joint in the road bed, the dealer put a dampener on but the issue is still there, just not as pronounced. The drive train / transmission / differential has "locked up" violently stopping the Jeep, this has happened twice so far but I have only had it for a few months. Both times I was moving slowly forward in drive just leaving a parking space on the side of the street. I put it in park, then back in drive and it moved normally. It sounds like metal on metal when it happens and is very sudden!.
Manual transmission started popping out of 2nd gear around 9500 miles. Transmission had to be replaced. At 11,500 creeking noise when turning left/right. Had to have rear axles & rear differential replaced.
I noticed there is a leak from my oil filter housing, I could t tell why in my under carriage I had oil going back near transmission followed the leak up to the oil filter housing I am not sure if it is cracked but at only 49k this should not be happening and I have read on many threads this is any issue this should be a recall and covered under power terrain warranty. I noticed it because I was checking my differential fluids and saw the mess of oil spraying all over my under carriage.

Front axle (differential) oil seals are leaking lube oil quickly. There are leak reported issues with these dana 30; dana 35; and my own rubicon's dana 44 axle. The axle seals are leaking lube oil from the axle ends. Again, this is happening to my '08 Jeep Wrangler rubicon and also to many other Jeep Wrangler models from 07-17 years as well as reported and confirmed by other owners of Jeep jk and jku models 2017, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 09, 08, 07 models. There should be a goverment recall since many of these Jeeps are experiencing the same axle leak issues as reported. Unfortunatedly, fca does not cover this simple power train fix since my vehicle it's out of warranty.

On Jan 8th I was heading home on union road in the middle of rush hour traffic. A car infront of me decided to turn left so I had to stop when I proceeded to go around him I heard a loud bang and my Jeep stopped dead. When I tryed to put the car in drive, reverse, or neutral the Jeep didnt move. Had I have been going the speed limit or got on the thurway in which was 200 ft away where I was headed to go home my Jeep would have flipped from the sudden lock up of my wheels. I could have died. There was no warnings, noises, ect. It just snapped. Not only the 1500 dollar repair the technicion told me that there had to be a defect in the differential. I would like Jeep to contact me 7162009019 on this matter I feel that I should not have to pay for this thank you susan heater.

After noticing a accumulation of fluid under my vehicle I took the car to a mechanic who mentioned that the seals on the rear axel were both leaking. I took the car to the dealership where they verified that both seals were leaking and that the differential cover was also leaking. They replaced the seals and resealed the differential cover, but noted that I was responsible for replacing the fluid in the differential. The vehicle had not been taken off road, outside of usual driving down unpaved roads.

Recall 617 was not replaced. E brake cables not replaced. Did not replace both front brake calipers. I have had to have two new differentials and clutch in less than a year. With the new recalls listed in the paper what about my gas tank? this is another safety measure to keep my vehicle safe on the road.

2007 Jeep Wrangler with recall for brake failure. Consumer states that he finally received a recall for the faulty brakes. He would like reimbursement for the brake repair since his was fixed before the recall was sent out. The consumer stated the problem occurred while he was in 4-wheel drive, low range over the top of a small rise. When he attempted to brake, nothing happened, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and the small down slope caused the consumer to speed up and hit a low set of rocks and hard dirt. The rear differential cover was leaking. The vehicle had extensive damage to the front axle and surrounding parts. Recall # 07v434000 no police report mentioned.

1999 Jeep Wrangler had multiple rear differential failures before 70k miles. *** no answer required***
the original drive train was rebuilt using original mopar parts. The drive train failed for the second time at 69000 mile after only 11000 miles of use. This time the dealer refuses to provide any financial assistance. The vehicle had other failures which include water leaks, drive train seals failure, electrical failures, multiple abs failures, air bag and seat belt problems, and the paint was peeling off the vehicle.

The rear differential on my 2003 Jeep Wrangler is getting water in it from just driving in the rain. The dealer fixed the worn ring and pinion and bearings from the water damage but they did not fix the main problem, which is the water getting in the rear differential. About a month later the same bearing problem started occurring. Daimlerchrysler is refusing to fix the problem again because they say it is customer abuse. I have done nothing but drive the Jeep on the road. This is not customer abuse. Daimlerchrysler will find any excuse not to honor their warranty.

We bought a 2003 Jeep Wrangler sport 4x4 in January 2003. The dealership had put a 3" lift and 32" tires on the Jeep prior to it being sold. We purchased it directly from the showroom floor. Three weeks ago the rear differential went out in the Jeep. First we were told that the repairs would not be covered under warranty because the lift voided it. After advising a Chrysler representative that the dealership put the lift on the Jeep, they said the size of the tires caused the damage and I informed the representative that the dealership made all modifications to the Jeep prior to our purchase. I was told I'd have to contact the dealership to see if they would stand behind the vehicle warranty. We're in texas now, the dealership we purchased the vehicle from is in washington. We went round and round between the dealerships with the one in washington saying the vehicle was covered under warranty and the one in texas saying, "no". After 3 weeks, it was determined that the damage was caused by 'misuse/abuse' by the vehicle being taken off-road and a stick hitting the plug on the rear axle causing the fluid to leak out. The Jeep broke down the day after it was taken off-road. Clearly not enough time for any fluid to leak out, especially with no sign of leakage once it was parked, and the vehicle was driven less than 60 miles the next day. Besides, this was the first time the vehicle had been taken 'off-road' since we purchased the vehicle. I believe we purchased a vehicle that had a faulty rear axle and the dealerships have found another way to pick the consumers pockets without standing behind a vehicle warranty.
Blew rear differential and have never taken it off road or driven hard. Very angry and disgusted!!!! it's in the shop now.

The rear differential was cracked, as was the exhaust manifold. Also the crank sensor harness and the tps were melted against the manifold. The dash leaked water and the brake shoes/lining and rack and pinion set needed replacing. The drivers side seatbelt would never retract and the dash lead water extensively causing the resstr-blower to go out. The radio was also broken for a couple of months.
