While driving my vehicle on Monday, February 16, 2026 I heard a loud pop come from the front of the vehicle. Right after that smoke began to come through the hood vents. I stopped the vehicle to inspect and at that point the engine compartment was burning heavily. I could barely get out of the vehicle and away before the whole front end of the vehicle was engulfed with fire and heavy black smoke. It looked as if the fire started somewhere on the righthand side of the engine compartment because the right front tire was the first to blow out in the fire. The vehicle is with the insurance company to inspect, but it was in perfect running condition, all maintenance performed. There were no dash warning lights that came on, no odd sounds heard and the vehicle ran until I stopped and shut it office. There has to be something that was wrong with the manufacturing of this specific engine to make a loud pop and burn as hot as it did. I wanted to report this before the vehicle is sent away to be demolished due to it being a complete loss.

Summary of risk: 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe thermal runaway/fire hazard: per NHTSA recalls 25v741000 and 25v766000, the high-voltage battery contains damaged separators, causing internal short circuits that lead to fires even when the vehicle is parked and turned off. Non-stop "turnover" failure: the vehicle’s current state (constantly attempting to start/turn over without stopping) is a documented electrical/hybrid system malfunction. This indicates the high-voltage system is in a state of failure, significantly increasing the risk of a "thermal event" (fire). Proximity danger: per manufacturer guidelines, this vehicle is currently a life-safety risk as it is immobilized within 50 feet of a residential structure housing a toddler and pets, violating the "park outside and away from structures" safety directive. Absence of remedy: the dealership has admitted there is no current fix or available parts to resolve this hazard, rendering the vehicle "permanently impaired" under maine law. Summary of dealership response failure to secure safety: despite the vehicle being a non-drivable fire hazard, the dealership has not provided an emergency tow or a no-cost loaner vehicle to remove the threat from the residence. Predatory pricing: the dealership is attempting to leverage a safety crisis to increase the lease payment by over 60% (from $500 to $800+). Misuse of incentives: the dealership is failing to apply the $8,000 stellantis "recall relief" rebate to lower the monthly payment. Instead, they are using it to absorb "negative equity" on a defective vehicle that should legally be subject to a full manufacturer buyback. Unreasonable terms: the dealership is effectively demanding a $10,000+ total cost increase over the life of a new lease to replace a vehicle they admit is unfixable and dangerous.

I own a 2024 Jeep Wrangler rubicon 4xe (VIN [xxx]) that is subject to a federally mandated safety recall involving the high-voltage battery system. I attempted to have the recall performed by an authorized Jeep/stellantis dealership, carson Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram in carson city, nevada. During communications with the dealership’s service manager, I was informed that the dealership would not perform the recall unless I signed dealership-specific authorization documents and agreed to their internal policies. The dealership further stated that if their evaluation determined the hybrid battery required replacement, they would retain (“quarantine”) the vehicle for an extended period and would not provide alternative transportation beyond a limited initial period, requiring me to pay for a rental thereafter. I objected to being required to pay transportation costs caused by a manufacturer safety recall and to signing waivers as a condition of recall service. I made clear that I was requesting that the recall be performed. The dealership then refused further service and removed me as a customer, stating that because I would not agree to their conditions they would not perform the recall and recommending I find another dealer. I subsequently sent written notice to stellantis / Jeep corporate headquarters explaining the situation and requesting assistance to complete the recall. Stellantis did not respond to either of my written notices. As a result, my vehicle remains subject to an unresolved safety recall despite my good-faith efforts to have the recall performed by an authorized dealer. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Horn no longer works and the seatbelt light is on. My mechanic said there’s a recall… the clock spring apparently is contaminated… also, I see there’s a recall on the airbag.

My dealership (Jeep bayside annapolis, MD) is refusing to fix the recall. They say they’ve had issues with some of the cars, and it’s taking too long. They said they’ve are capable of fixing the recall, but are refusing to do so.
Shortly after leaving my house I glanced at the digital readout for my speed and noticed that the instrument cluster was blank. I pulled over, stopped my Jeep, then restarted it to see if that would correct it, which it did not. I took it to a reputable auto/electrical garage who at first noticed a master fuse block blown and replaced the fuse block. That didn't correct the instrument cluster however but they did find a recall 30b for 2020 Jeep Wrangler. I called stellantis (1 800 334 9200) today, Feb 16th . I was told by 3 different people in 3 different departments that even though there is a safety recall on 2020 Jeeps my VIN# isn't included. I asked why not and was told that it depended where the Jeep was made. They also told me that the repair will be at my expense. This doesn't seem fair to me because the recall is a safety issue to replace the instrument panel cluster free of charge. Just because my Jeep VIN# wasn't included doesn't mean it wasn't going to fail like the others that were included!! I have no readouts on my dashboard and am sure it won't even pass inspection now because of that, let alone serious safety concerns without warning lights. I have to ask you, shouldn't my Jeep be included in this safety recall and be corrected by the manufacturer?!?! thank you in advance for your consideration in this matter! lauracampbell6958@gmail. While driving higher speeds (45 mph+) I have had my vehicle start shaking very violently which results in me having to slam on my breaks to gain control of my vehicle. When this happens I have been traveling on the highway or interstate which puts other drivers at risk due to me unexpectedly having to come to a halt to gain control of my vehicle. I have taken my vehicle to the mechanic multiple times (dealership twice and local mechanic twice) and I have had everything replaced on the front end that could cause this and it is still happening. Steering dampener has been replaced twice in a year. Mechanic seems to believe that there is a design flaw in the vehicle that is causing it at this point. There is no warning message or anything that gives me any warning. I am scared to drive my vehicle on the highway or interstate.

The high-pressure fuel pump (hpfp) failed internally while I was driving at night, causing the vehicle to suddenly stall and shut off completely while my children were in the vehicle. This resulted in an immediate loss of power and created a dangerous situation in traffic. The failure caused metal debris to spread throughout the entire fuel system, and the dealership confirmed that the system requires full replacement. I was quoted approximately $15,000 for repairs. This vehicle previously had a manufacturer recall related to the fuel pump that was completed in 2022 and is now listed as closed. Despite the recall repair, the same failure occurred again. This demonstrates that the recall remedy did not correct the defect. The sudden engine shutdown without warning presents a serious safety hazard, especially at night and with passengers in the vehicle. Its been at the dealer ship for a month.
The uconnect radio is not functioning correctly at 55000 miles it refreshes and restarts intermittently and the rear camera is not operating properly after switching to drive from reverse. The image remains in the screen for an extended period of time causing a view of the rear of the vehicle as it is driving forward. This gives a skewed perception of what is going on around the vehicle. It’s is distracting and confusing until the rear view camera returns to the “drive” condition of the vehicles transmission and removes the view of the rear of the vehicle from the radio.
The ipc intermittently goes blank and I lose driver information like remaining fuel and speed limit and other safety information. The ipc also turns green and gets distortion.
Unknown exactly but started Jeep & backed out of parking spot & placed in drive and only got a few feet & vehicle slowed & stopped placed in park & turned car off then waited a few seconds & turned back in and showed it was in run but not able to place into gear turned off again & waited longer & was able ti get started & into gear then towed to dealership this also happened in October but I was driving on the road & lost power was able to pull to side & then return home & get to dealership a couple days later when open & was told it was power train related.
The steering and front suspension system malfunctioned. The vehicle experiences a severe “death wobble,” violent and uncontrolled shaking/oscillation of the steering wheel and front end after hitting bumps or uneven pavement, especially at higher speeds. The suspected affected components may include the steering linkage, track bar, steering damper/stabilizer, ball joints, tie rods, control arms, bushings, alignment/caster, or other front suspension/steering components. The defect causes violent steering wheel and front-end shaking while driving, creating a loss of stable steering control. When the wobble occurs, the vehicle becomes difficult to control and I have to slow down significantly to regain control. This creates a serious risk of a crash, especially at highway speeds, in traffic, on curves, or if another driver is nearby. The first time it happened I was on the highway near two tractor trailers who recognized the issue and slow down for me too. The condition puts me, my passengers, other motorists, pedestrians, and anyone near the roadway at risk because the vehicle can suddenly become unstable after normal road bumps or pavement irregularities. The problem has been brought to an local mechanic 3 times for repair or diagnosis, but the issue has not been resolved. The vehicle continues to experience the same severe steering/front-end wobble after those repair attempts. As of this complaint, the issue has not yet been formally diagnosed or resolved by an authorized Jeep dealer. I am filing this complaint because the condition remains unresolved and I believe it is a serious safety defect. The vehicle has been inspected and repaired by an local mechanic on 3 occasions related to this issue. The healy dealership fixed the last recall right before this. I called them on the way home from the dealership when it first happened. There were no warning lamps or dashboard message before the wobble occurred. Became more aggressive in Jan 2026.
My 2024 Jeep Wrangler experiences violent front-end oscillation at highway speeds after hitting bumps, resulting in temporary loss of steering control. The dealer suspects the steering stabilizer but refuses warranty repair due to inability to replicate. This is a safety issue that I am gravely concerned about.
I am writing to demand the immediate buyback of my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe due to catastrophic safety defects, multiple recalls, and stellantis's own actions that have rendered this vehicle unsafe, unmarketable, and virtually worthless. The confluence of critical safety recalls, stop-sale orders, and the announced phase-out of this model line has created an untenable situation that warrants full repurchase of this defective vehicle. Critical safety defects and recalls my vehicle is subject to the high-voltage battery fire risk recall, which poses an imminent danger to my safety, my family's safety, and public safety. The risk of spontaneous battery fire—even when the vehicle is parked and turned off—is unconscionable and represents a fundamental failure in engineering and quality control. I purchased this vehicle with the reasonable expectation that it would not pose a fire hazard that could destroy my property or endanger lives. Additionally, this vehicle is affected by the engine casting contamination defect, which compromises the structural integrity and reliability of the engine itself. This is not a minor defect; it strikes at the core functionality of the vehicle and raises serious questions about long-term durability and safety. Stop-sale order and phase-out announcement stellantis has issued a stop-sale order on these vehicles, effectively acknowledging that they are unfit for sale to consumers. If this vehicle is too dangerous and defective to sell to new customers, it is equally unacceptable for me to continue owning and operating it. The stop-sale order is a public admission of the severity of these defects. Furthermore, stellantis has announced the phase-out of the Wrangler 4xe line, which has immediate and devastating consequences for vehicle value, parts availability, service support, and resale potential. This decision effectively orphans current owners and guarantees dramatic depreciation far beyond normal market conditions. Catastrophic financial imp.
Unknown I did not get a letter from the manufacturer alerting me to these recalls. I was told by the service center that there is currently no remedy available. I was told there was no restrictions. I then contacted the manufacturer and was told there are no remedies available and no timeline as to when they would be available. The recalls cite possible fire, and stopping while being driven. No one can guarantee my safety.
This compliant is based on the manufactures unwillingness to provide a rental car despite the fact the car is in the shop now for over a week. They have stated in writing that they will not provide a rental car or alternative transportation until the repair for NHTSA recall number 25v-766 or 78c is determined. This leads me without a usable vehicle for an unknown period of time and their refusal to provide a rental in the main time while the vehicle is under factory warranty is a dereliction of their responsibility to provide a working product to the customer. I have a call with the manufacturer fca which is #95240670.
The vehicle poses a fire risk not allowing the vehicle to be parked under structures and the vehicle cannot be charged even though it is a plug-in hybrid vehicle. There is an active recall and this is not the first one. The fix for the recall is a software update that can shut off the high voltage battery if an issue is encountered which leaves the vehicle in limp mode, which is dangerous when traveling on the highway. If a new battery is required, the same faulty style batteries are exchanged. Stellantis is not addressing the car issues appropriately.
Recall 68c has not been remedied on my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN 1c4jjxr67mw674456). Details are as follows: recall: battery / high-voltage system (recall 68c) status: failed battery test, vehicle held at dealer delay: quoted 4–8 weeks waiting for replacement battery impact: vehicle unusable / safety-related immobilization mileage: 34,000 dropped off: doug smith cjdr on January 8, 2026.
I own a 2024 Jeep 4xe in alabama with approximately 9,000 miles. The vehicle was towed to a dealership due to safety concerns related to active recalls, including recall 68c involving the high-voltage battery, as well as a second engine-related recall for which no remedy has been issued. The vehicle was checked in and a repair order was opened. Dealer diagnostic notes indicate trouble codes related to the high-voltage system, coolant heater, and evap system, and state that certain components “need to be replaced. ” despite this, I later received a text message stating the vehicle was “ready for pickup,” even though active safety recalls remain and it was not clearly communicated that the listed components were replaced. Because these recalls involve potential fire risk and high-voltage system faults, I do not feel the vehicle is safe to operate, especially with children riding in it. The vehicle has remained at the dealership for almost 2 weeks with limited communication. I am currently paying for a rental vehicle out of pocket while awaiting reimbursement from stellantis, with no clear timeline for repayment or confirmation of continued coverage. Attempts to obtain updates from both the dealership and stellantis case management have often gone unanswered. I am submitting this complaint due to unresolved safety concerns, extended vehicle downtime, unclear repair status, and financial impact related to rental transportation.
I reached out to my dealer at the beginning of Jan after I received the notice that the recall repair was available. The dealer told me that they have no record of the recall for my vehicle. The dealer has been unresponsive since I complained.
I took this vehicle to the dealership for two recalls, but there is no remedy available. I keep having these issues, every time I drive my vehicle to keep cutting off sometime it wouldn’t start and the warning light for the battery pops up, I am really scared to drive this vehicle and also I’m really scared to charge this vehicle because it might catch fire .
On Tuesday January 6 2026, I was driving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. I noticed smoke coming out the engine. I pulled over to the side of the road to determine the problem. Upon exiting the vehicle, I saw flames coming from the undercarriage of the engine. The fire soon engulfed the vehicle. 911 was called. Police and fire responded. The vehicle was destroyed in the fire. I have photos and videos of the fire and aftermath, taken once I exited the vehicle. I assume the fire is the result of the recent recall on the battery components of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The vehicle is currently in an impound lot and would be available for inspection upon request. I have notified Jeep and my insurance of the incident, but the Jeep has not as of yet, been inspected by either entity. The fire was of great risk to myself. If I hadn't pulled over when I did who knows what might have occurred. In addition I had a full tank of gas so the vehicle could have exploded endangering other people, vehicles, and property. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem appeared prior to the failure. The vehicle had been operating as intended prior to smoke/fire. I have documentation of a service of the vehicle on Wednesday Dec 3, 2025 with raidon's of kirkland in which the performed recall services.
My abs, brake and traction control lights all came on 1 month ago. Error code from shop is c2200 indicating a faulty abs module. They cannot find a replacement from any Jeep dealers. My online search also unsuccessful as none of the sites have them in stock. Been told by everyone that there is a national shortage and none are available due to Jeep not making them either anymore or cannot keep up with the demand. Now I cannot drive my Jeep safely and there is no timely help. This is a huge issue!.

Our 2015 Jeep Wrangler jk unlimited just caught on fire. I happened to be in my daughter’s bedroom, 20 feet away from where the Jeep was parked. I thought I was seeing flames reflecting from the tv, but I realized that they were real. My next thought was that my husband was building a firepit fire. I thought that was weird because he was doing it in the front yard, but I didn’t think any more about it because I was so focused on my work. I went back to work for a second, but something told me to look again. I did, and then realized that it was the Jeep that was on fire. I screamed for my husband, but couldn’t find him; I was scared that he was in the Jeep. Actually, he had been in the back yard and heard me screaming, so he ran up front to see what was happening. I called 911 while my husband tried to put the fire out with the water hose, which didn’t help- the flames kept getting higher. It took firefighters a while to extinguish the flames and to get it cooled off. The engine appears to be melted. It is in our yard and available for inspection. The fire fighters made a report that my husband has requested. We’re waiting on the insurance company to contact us. The fire smelled electrical. We smelled no gasoline. I was absolutely horrified thinking about what might have happened if it had ignited at night when no one was looking. My daughter, my pets, my husband, and I could have all been casualties of this spontaneous fire. The fact that it was day time, the unusual coincidence that I was where I was so that I saw the fire, and the fact that my husband parked on a different side of the yard than usual, all probably are the reasons we are alive today. Had any one of those events not been in play, it could have been a very different outcome. My husband had no indication that there was a problem with the Jeep. He’d just driven it. He reported no odors and no problems at all. He takes excellent care of it, so it was in great condition.
I own a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: [xxx] ). A high-voltage battery safety recall for fire risk was issued on October 30, 2025 (NHTSA 25v-741 / stellantis 68c). From the date of the recall, I did not use the plug-in battery function as intended because of the fire-risk recall instructions. A remedy was not available until mid-December 2025. When I brought the vehicle in for the recall remedy, the battery failed the recall procedure/diagnostic and now requires a full high-voltage battery replacement. The vehicle will be out of service for approximately two weeks. This recall has prevented normal safe use of the phev battery function and has resulted in extended loss of use while awaiting battery replacement. My vehicle was previously subject to the earlier hv battery fire-risk recall(s), including NHTSA 24v-720 (fca 95b) (and earlier NHTSA 23v-787 (fca b9a)), before the newer battery recall campaign information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The instrument cluster has completely failed presenting a dangerous situation for driving. There are no warning lights, no speed indicator, no signal indicator, etc, etc. A simple google search will show that this is a very widespread and well known issue with this vehicle, and a safety recall notice should be issued and the replacement should be covered by the manufacturer. The vehicle was inspected by the dealership and they confirmed it is the instrument cluster.
The vehicle is a Jeep Wrangler 4xe with approximately 43,000 miles experiencing a recurring electrical system malfunction involving the body control module (bcm) and lin communication network. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and is available for inspection upon request. The failure involves multiple electrical circuits and communication loss between modules, confirmed by dealership diagnostic codes including bcm b1642-15, b1646-15, b16d7-15, b16df-15, and u1123-00 (lost communication with lin ecu). This condition presents a safety risk due to intermittent stalling/shutdown while driving, electrical system instability, and failure of critical systems including exterior lighting and hvac. These issues create unpredictable vehicle operation and reduced safety for occupants and others on the road. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealership over at least four separate service visits, for which documentation is available. Despite repeated repair attempts, the condition has not been resolved and the same faults continue to return. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by the dealership. The manufacturer, stellantis, has been contacted but has declined further escalation or engineering review, citing warranty expiration. Warning indicators, including the check engine light, have repeatedly appeared prior to and immediately after service visits. Additional symptoms include intermittent heater failure while driving, system-wide electrical malfunctions, and abnormal noises. This is an ongoing, unresolved electrical system failure involving repeated unsuccessful repair attempts and presents a continuing safety concern.
My wife and I were driving to the dealer to have a safety recall service performed on her Jeep Wrangler 4xe. We had just merged onto the highway, I was in my car, behind my wife in her Jeep. Less than a mile onto the highway, my wife suddenly slowed down and moved to the right lane. As she moved over to the right lane, I saw her front tire violently wobbling back and forth. We slowed down to 30mph on the highway and after approximately 30 seconds the problem seemed to resolve. We limped our way to the exit (about another mile) and to the dealer about 1/4 mile off the highway. When my wife got out of the car she was still shaking, rattled by what had just happened. When we described what happened to the service center they responded "OH, you had the death wobble. " after some research, I watched several videos about the death wobble, which confirmed what I had just seen. What if my wife had panicked and pulled over into another car in the right lane? what if she was on a small 2 lane highway and veered off the road and down an embankment? there were no warning lights or messages on the vehicle indicating any problem prior to this happening. This happened with zero warning and was terrifying to watch, let alone my poor wife experiencing first hand. The Jeep dealership has run diagnostics and report it is a bad steering damper. More than 3 weeks later the car remains at the dealership, awaiting repair of not only that, but also the safety recall fix for the hybrid battery. Communication from the dealership has been vague and suspicious in my opinion. They repeatedly have said they are waiting to hear from Jeep on what to do next. My research indicates a previous class action suit relating to this "death wobble" issue on previous models. How does something this dangerous still happen on a 2023 model car with 19000 miles in 2025. I'm shocked at how casually the dealer and manufacturer have addressed this issue.

Ev battery recall without resolution. After receiving the recall notice and scheduling service at the dealership, the Jeep was kept for 6 weeks and they replaced both the ev battery and the starting 12v battery. After driving the vehicle for less than a week, the ev battery started making gurgling and bubbling sounds after starting and continued for about 30 sec - 1 minute after turning off power. No message or warning lights have indicated any type of issue. The dealership said the car is not safe to drive and asked me to have it towed to the shop. I have had to pay almost $3,000 out of pocket for a rental because I use my car for work. My reimbursement is still processing and my vehicle is back in the shop. This was the 4th attempt to upgrade the software and the first time replacing the battery to my knowledge.
Subject: safety complaint – 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: [xxx] ) – recall 68c high voltage battery fire risk dear NHTSA office of defects investigation, I am filing this safety complaint for my leased 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid (VIN: [xxx] ) regarding safety recall 68c (NHTSA campaign number 25v-741) – high voltage battery defect. The recall notice states that the hv battery may become damaged during normal vehicle operation, leading to internal short circuit, overheating, and potential vehicle fire – even when parked or not charging. This poses a serious life-threatening risk to occupants, family members, and bystanders. Current interim remedy is insufficient: owners advised to refrain from recharging and park away from structures/other vehicles. Permanent remedy (battery replacement) is still under development as of December 2025. Vehicle is effectively unusable for normal family use (cannot park in garage, constant fire fear). I operate in e-save mode only (no charging), but risk remains per manufacturer notice. Family details: wife and two children – safety severely impacted. I request NHTSA escalate investigation into this defect. Pressure stellantis/fca us llc for immediate permanent remedy by way of lease termination. Consider expanding recall scope if needed. Attached letter addressed to CO-signee. Thank you for your urgent attention to this life-threatening safety issue. Sincerely, [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] lease through Chrysler capital information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The dealership refuses to perform the 68c recall for my 4xe Wrangler, [xxx] they said they are worried that there will be a glitch with the recall and they will have to hold on to my Jeep for 3-4 weeks until a battery replacement is available. They don’t want to do this because there are already 3 cars in the dealership awaiting the same battery replacement. Given the seriousness of the recall (battery fires), this seems like an unsafe response to the recall. They mentioned they’ve been turning multiple cars away with this recall and that they have other recalls for other models to also worry about. This is coming from southern cdjr newport news; 12629 jefferson avenue; newport news, va; 23602; 757-350-8747 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The high-voltage battery system on my Jeep Wrangler 4xe malfunctioned and is subject to recall 25v-741 (68c). The vehicle has been under safety recall for battery fire risk for months, with instructions to park outside and avoid charging due to fire hazard. On December 29, the recall remedy failed and the vehicle was rendered completely undrivable (“bricked”) at the dealership. I was informed that hybrid battery components/repair parts are not available and there is currently no way to return the vehicle to a safe, operable condition. The vehicle cannot be moved or driven and remains stored outside. This defect creates a direct safety risk to me and others. I am unable to charge or operate the vehicle normally, and I have been advised by the dealer that the recall repair cannot be performed because there are no available batteries or parts. This leaves me without transportation and continues the safety risk identified by NHTSA, with no practical remedy or timeline. The problem has been confirmed by a Jeep dealer, and I have written documentation showing the vehicle is non-drivable due to the recall condition. I have also attempted resolution with stellantis/Chrysler capital without success. I request NHTSA investigate the lack of remedy availability and failures related to recall 25v-741/68c for affected owners whose vehicles are now immobilized.
Two months ago the vehicle decided to not work at all. Couldn’t turn it on couldn’t move it. Had to have it towed where they kept it for 3 weeks and said it was main battery and replaced it. Fast forward to yesterday 12/29 and the engine light came on again. Waiting for dealership to contact when they’ll have loaner vehicle. But this is the second time in 2 months the engine light has come on. We bought the vehicle in September a month later in the shop. Now again going back to the shop. This vehicle has under 30k miles and I’m not a a very happy customer right now.
