The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the fuel pump would continuously stop while attempting refuel the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact could not gauge when the fuel tank was full; therefore, fuel would splash out of the tank once it reached capacity. The contact stated that fuel would splash onto her clothing or onto her face because of the failure. The contact called a dealer and the service mechanic confirmed that the failure was common and that her fuel tank would need to be replaced. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while refueling the vehicle, fuel spilled down the side of the vehicle. The contact stated that he was an independent mechanic that diagnosed a faulty fuel check valve in the filler neck. The contact stated that the filler neck needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired because the dealer and the manufacturer would not sell the contact the part since the vehicle was not included in a TSB or recall. The contact related the failure to NHTSA id number: 10037960 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking fuel during refueling. The contact spoke with the epa about the failure but received no assistance. The contact called three unknown Jeep dealers however, none of the dealers offered any assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.

I purchased the 2007 Jeep Wrangler used with 77, 000 miles on it. I now have 84500. Every single time I fill up with gas, once a week, it overflows out of the end spilling on the fender, driver side and ground. I have learned never to stand near it. Since getting soaked a few times.

Filling up gas at station - splash back on 2 occasions, today (03 February 2014) and last week (26 January 2014), the gas nozzle was in the automatic position. In both times, a splash back of gasoline occurred when the gas nozzle reached the full level and the handle clicked. This occurred at 2 different gas stations. Approximate 1-cup of gas splashed out at each occurrence. I drove home and washed the splash area with soap and water. End.

I traced a loud screeching noise to the oil pump drive assembly. As the engine warmed up the noise subsided but continues to occur. On line research shows this to be a common problem for the 05-06 Wranglers due to a design change from 04 to 05 model years where a bushing at the top of the cam position sensor/oil pump drive that seizes due to lack of lubrication and causes the drive gear on the oil pump shaft to self destruct taking with it the camshaft drive gear which causes loss of oil pressure. Dodge issued the e05 Mar 2005 campaign-engine oil pump drive gear/cam replacement. Letters were sent to dealers to replace the drive gears and cams damaged by this problem. The notification applies to the 4. 0 l engine built from oct 20, 2004 to Feb 1, 2005. My local Dodge dealer informed me that my Jeep has an oct 9, 2004 build date and is therefore not eligible for the recall even though the pictures I showed him of the damage to the gears in my engine. The dealer suggested I try customer service. They referred me to NHTSA to seek a resolution. So after investing over $12,000 dollars a month ago to purchase what I expected would be a reliable winter vehicle I instead have a vehicle that sits in my driveway because we are afraid to drive it. It can't be trusted on the road and I can't risk using it and facing a $4,000. 00 engine rebuild if it seizes. I need some help.

When I go to fill up when it gets full it spills out of the top all over side of Jeep and ground saw there is others out there having same problem very unsafe. I am second owner Jeep should doing something about this. Please help.

When fueling my vehicle the gas pump does not shut off and causes a fuel spill every time the vehicle is refueled. This has happened every time I fueled the vehicle at several different stations, using both the manual or automatic shut off on the gas nozzles.

Upon filling up the vehicle, fuel rushes out of the inlet and onto the fender guard, body, and bumper and on the ground. This has happened repeatedly at every fill up. After the first three times this happened I caught as much as possible from the spill = 3 pints +. It shoots all over my hands, arm, and leg. Very dangerous and hazardous having gas all over me.

When filling with fuel, after the pump finishes putting fuel into the vehicle, fuel surges back out of the fill neck. It appears to be about one half gallon spills out onto the vehicle and ground. It does not matter whether the pump is being run in automatic or manual mode. Nor does it matter at what rate the fuel is being added. When contacted, the dealer said it was not covered for this VIN series.

Every time fuel is placed into the vehicle, the fuel filler neck will spit fuel out onto the driver or around the back of the vehicle. This started occurring in September 2013 and has been consistent with every time fuel is put into the vehicle. Once I began researching this I found it is a common problem on all Jeep Wranglers. I also found that Chrysler issued an extended warranty on 2007 and 2008 Jeep Wranglers, up to March 31, 2008. My vehicle was manufactured in April 2008 so I don't qualify for this warranty work. The fix seems to be a fuel neck with a check valve in it. Part cnnnx321ac. My Jeep even though is was manufactured after their warranty date, still has the old part on it that is causing the problems in the first place. God forbid anyone ever gets injured by this. Shame on Chrysler and shame on NHTSA for not taking any action.

Everytime I fill up the vehicle, there is substantial fuel overflow. This happens regardless of the amount filling up, regardless of the pump or station, and regardless of the nozzle itself. There is enough fuel spillage to fill at least a 16 oz. Cup every time I fill up.

When filling up my vehicle with gas it over flows when the gas pump stops.

While 4x4ing at a high altitude and hot weather there was a smell of gas in the Jeep. We were told by others that the same thing has happened and to not roll the window down as it would make it worse. We took it to the dealer and he could not find anything wrong.

Fuel spray/overflow when refueling. This could be very dangerous! when refueling, there was significant blowback or a very heavy mist which saturated my shirt and pants with gas. Fuel then began to run down the side of my Jeep, onto the ground. This occurred simultaneously with the auto shutoff function of the pump.

Gas overflows when filling up vehicle.

This has happend a few times but when fueling up when full gas would spit out (a lot) and run down the side of my Jeep and leave a puddle at the gas pump.

When filling up with gas the fuel gushes out of the gas hole when the pump clicks off.

On February 18th 2012, I purchased a used 2005 Jeep Wrangler rubicon from a Jeep dealership. Every time I've filled up for gas, there is an over spill of about 1/8 of a gallon. This happened on 2/27/12, 2/29/12 , 3/15/12, 3/25/12, and 4/23/12. Even when slowing down towards the end of the fill up, it still spills over, just less severe. I took it into the dealer. They performed a fuel system software upgrade on 4/06/12, but that did not correct the problem. This is a huge nuisance (not to mention safety/fire hazard) and from what little research I've done, does not sound like an isolated problem.

3rd fill up in 3 weeks, once again was filling up and gas poured all over side of my Jeep and the ground when filling up. Spilled approximately 3-4 quarts of fuel on the ground.

Fuel does not shutoff automatically until fuel overflows. Spills all over the side of the vehicle and on the ground.

While filling up my 07 Jeep Wrangler jk, fuel spit back during refueling. The pump handle shut off, but approximately 1/2 to 1/2 gallon of gas poured out of my Jeep, dousing me in fuel. It has happened twice at 2 different gas stations. Once on Feb. 10-2012 @ 55,879 miles, and again on Feb. 16-2012 at 56,123 miles.

Pump kicks off every 2/10ths of a gallon while pumping fuel. Happens whether you are at full flow or just letting it trickle.

When filling the car with gasoline, the automatic shut off does not occur and fuel blows out of the Jeep and down on the ground and me if I am close. It appears that a substantial amount of fuel spills. This occurs at all fill ups it is not gas station specific. This can be a danger if it spews on something hot. Also I would think that it's an environmental concern and it stinks. Very frustrating problem!.

When filling my completely stock Jeep Wrangler, fuel shoots out of the filler, even with the nozzle clicking off. It does it every single time I fill it up. I previously owned a 2005 Jeep Wrangler x and it did it on that one as well. If I don't remember it does this I end up wearing gas all over myself, not to mention it shoots out so violently it has almost splashed the cars on the other side of the gas pumps.

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer advised the contact to have the dealer perform a diagnostic test. Gas is overflowing when I fuel up. This has happened 5 times already.

My 2005 Jeep Wrangler tj will spit fuel each time I fill the vehicle (overflow) and it will spill gasoline all over the side of the vehicle and on the ground.

I just bought Jeep used. First time I filled up the pump cut off and then there was a surge of gas that spewed out. On second refill today at a different station with new pumps same thing happened gas spewed under such force it would have gotten in eyes had I not had sunglasses on. Spillage was over a liter and was all over clothing and attendant had to spread absorbent.

When filling up, gas overflows out of filler neck. Does not matter about fuel flow being fast or slow.
