After having the Chrysler Jeep mopar performance part# 77072353ab_fs installed by a Jeep dealer, there is a serious issue that I have discovered. With Jeep vehicles that have been lifted using the oem mopar 'Jeep performance parts' 4" lift kit product, whereby following 'Jeep dealer professional installation' and in certain driving scenarios, the rear propeller shaft comes into direct contact with both the vehicle's evap tank on driver-side and fuel tank on passenger-side under certain raised front independent right or left wheel articulation scenarios and I have personally incurred damage to the vehicles oem propeller shaft and boot sleeve and the adjacent evap tank and fuel tank items from the oem propeller shaft making direct contact with both the evap and fuel tanks under the vehicle. This 4" lift kit is a mopar sold and Jeep dealer installed product and they refuse to reimburse me for replacing the oem rear propeller shaft with an after market rear drive shaft that they recommended and installed that mitigates the issue of articulation contact of their oem propeller (which is larger in diameter than the alternative shaft replacement they subsequently installed). I have documented pictures and videos of the oem drive shaft hitting the adjacent items under the vehicle which I also provided to the Jeep dealer in my city of residence. However, dealer said that unless they have a safety recall or something else from Chrysler indicating this as a safety issue they can't do anything about it for me. . . For some unlucky people, the gas tank rupturing and catching fire will be the only event that makes them aware that this is a problem that Chrysler, Jeep, mopar have not previously realized nor addressed. . .

2010 Jeep jk Wrangler transmission oil overheats when vehicle is engaged in 4wd. This could cause transmission failure, particularly on mountainous terrain where the possibility of a fatality could occur. Chrysler has issued a recall noting that this condition could occur. The "fix" is an audible chime in addition to the warning light on the instrument panel instead of addressing the root of the problem such as the addition of a larger oil cooler, oil pan with larger capacity to keep oil cooler, or some other repair.

While moving rocks in my yard, I put the transfer case in low and locked the axles, both front and rear. The front driver side u-joint exploded, damaging the inner and outer axles. The vehicle was undrivable. I do failure assessment for my work and have determined incorrect heat treating of the critical drive train components to be suspect. This is suppose to be a heavy duty vehicle. Moving rocks is hardly heavy duty. There are also a lot of "replacement" axles available on the aftermarket that state they are "more" heavy duty than stock. A neighbor down the street experienced the same failure prior to me. My vehicle missed the warranty by 2,700 miles but is 2 years under. Repairs are expected to be $1,000 plus labor.

Shifter cable on transfer case broke, during normal use. I was shifting the transfer case into neutral and the shifter just went limp and flopped around. I had to have it towed to the dealer.

2009 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon leaks axle oil from right front axle seal onto tire. Seal was first replaced in June 2010, then in August, and is scheduled again for oct 2010 replacement. Vehicle currently has 24k miles. Jeep dealer replaced seals first two times and is scheduled again for replacement by dealer in October. Leaking seal is a hazard as axle oil is leaking onto tire and could cause loss of control. Vehicle is not modified in any way that would account for the leak.
Have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler with 24,000 miles which is experiencing front wheel shaking at about 40-45 mph and when braking. Alignment, tires, etc. Are good with no aftermarket modifications done to suspension. This appears to be a very common problem with Wranglers and is even called and known as a "death wobble. " no crashes, but dealer will charge to investigate and fix. As mentioned, this appears to be a very common problem with Wranglers, therefore, isn't it a manufacturing flaw that Jeep needs to take responsibility for?.

Transfer case shifter linkage broke when shifting from 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive. The vehicle was stuck in neutral in the road and could not be moved. Leaving my wife stranding in the middle of a busy state highway.
Driving a rental Jeep in kauai, hit a small bump in road - the Jeep went into a violent shimmy - would not stop until the vehicle came to a complete stop - then it behaved normal - this happened about 2 times on the 3rd day of the rental period and another 5 times over the 8 day rental period - should have requested a new Jeep the first time it happened - the last day it happened 3 times on the way to the airport - my wife and kids were extremely upset - lost control of vehicle and almost was in a head on collision - ended up parking on the side of the road and called a taxi - I understand this is a common problem in Jeeps - someone is going to get killed if Jeep does not figure out what is going on and how to fix this problem -.

I have an 03 Wrangler, yellow that has the paint chipping off in several places. This vehicle has less than 8k miles & is never taken off road. These are all inner city miles. I have been advised by 2 diff dealerships that this is caused from bugs! this same Jeep has also had driveline problems. So much for a heavy duty off road vehicle.
