36 Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/01/2012

Fuel spills out of the tank when refueling at a gas station. If I fill up the tank, letting the gas pump shut off when it wants to, about a cup of fuel comes back out of the gas tank. I am not topping off the tank.

39 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/04/2012

My Wrangler was manufactured 2/07- I purchased it used in 2/12. Every time I fill the tank, gas spills out immediately after the pump stops. Daimler Chrysler will not acknowledge this is an issue despite hundreds of complaints from 2007-08 Wrangler owners. This is obviously a safety issue and there should be a recall.

40 Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/03/2012

Every time I fill up with gas, the gas flows out of the fuel tank all over the car, me and the ground. This happens right before the tank is full and it doesn't shut the gas pump off.

As gas tank approaches full while fueling, the fuel spills out of the filler neck at a high rate without warning.

42 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/30/2012

When filling up with fuel, the fuel tank system does not automatically shut off until after fuel has spilled out of the fuel tank door and onto the ground.

43 Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/20/2012

When pumping fuel into the 2010 Wrangler unlimited instead of the pump cutting off it spews gas out of the tank. Thinking it may be a pump failure I ignored. This problem has happened at every gas pump I go to. You can pump gas very slowly into the tank and when you think you are getting near release, but this does not fix the underlying problem with the gas tank. This is a safety hazard which could lead to potential fire issues, along with eroding paint. I have to get a car wash whenever this happens. The gas gets on my clothes and shoes. This problem also affects my job. The are numerous videos on you tube detailing this problem.

44 Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/18/2012

Fuel overflow when getting gas at the pump. Auto-off does not click off but also, when fueling manually, pump does not click off when tank is full. Also, the angle of the gas pump nozzle seems to affect severity of problem. This problem started back in January of 2012. Had the Jeep for 8 months with no problems.

45 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/14/2012

When filling gas tank, gasoline spews from the filler neck prior to the automatic shut-off on the pump engaging. This has been an issue with this particular vehicle since 2008.

46 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/11/2012

Fuel fill spits out fuel every time I fill the tank. It is a dangerous situation due to the volatility of gas.

47 Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/10/2012

When filling with gas, before the tank approaches full, gasoline spews out around the filler nozzle all over the side of the Jeep. Now that this problem has started, it occurs every time I fill up. I have had the Jeep for about a year and it was fine until recently. Chrysler has extended the warranty for Jeeps with this problem for Jeeps made between March 2007 and March 2008. My Jeep was made in may of 2008 so it is not covered. I have read on the net that many people with this issue have had the gas tank replaced and it has solved this problem. This is a dangerous situation and I am not sure what to do about it.

48 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/09/2012

When filling up the tank on my 2006 rubicon unlimited, fuel will overflow without warning. It does this every time I fill up. If I do not stop it in time, fuel will overflow out with enough force that it will cover the side of the Jeep and who ever is filling it up. My 2007 Jeep Wrangler rubicon unlimited did the same thing and Chrysler recalled it and replaced the tank and I have had no issues since.

49 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/07/2012

When fueling the vehicle, gasoline overflows and spews out of the gas tank opening. This happens each time the vehicle is fueled and occurs as the tank reaches full. This is an extremely dangerous and unhealthy situation which needs to be addressed by the vehicle manufacturer. I was shocked to find this is a known and widely reported issue, but not yet resolved by Chrysler.

50 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/06/2012

Fuel tank overflows when filling the vehicle with gas. The rollover check valve does not engage to stop the gas pump.

51 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/06/2012

The gas tank overflows every time it is filled and spills gas on operator and ground.

52 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/05/2012

Just purchased this Jeep used, excellent condition few days ago Jan. 2012. Major fuel spitting back upon filling the tank. The pump shuts off as expected and then there is a huge gush of gas that comes out after all over me, the side of Jeep, and all over the ground. This is a huge safety issue and a fire concern! the second attempt at fueling I tried slowing the speed of gas and not filling all the way --- same thing happened. Jeep dealer acts they've never heard of this. A lie. Ive emailed Chrysler and they also are acting like they dont know anything about it even though I have a copy of a letter they have sent to previous owners about it stating they would repair this fuel spitback issue. Apparently, my previous owner did nothing! I've now read all of the reports and claims. Too bad we didn't know this before. I am afraid to put my family in this Jeep and we haven't even had it for a week. You don't think it's a recall? I need this fixed! what will it take for you to issue a recall? a fire, explosion? or do you need to wait for a death first? would you like a video of this fuel spitting back out of the side of my new Jeep? I would be glad to film it for you as proof! it's not just a little fuel --- it's a gush! wake up, okay? I am a new owner and nobody and no internet sites or social media b. S. Is influencing me. I need help and so does everyone else with this extremely dangerous issue.

53 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/04/2012

When filling my fuel tank by hand the pump shut off too late and spilled gas all over the side of my Jeep. This happens at every gas station no matter the circumstances.

54 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/02/2012

Every time you fill up with gas the fuel tank will overflow while pumping gas.

55 Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/02/2012

Fuel shut off doesn't trip during refueling causing gas spillage. I purchased my Jeep in October and haven't had a single refueling that hasn't resulted in gas shooting out of the gas tank when I'm refilling it.

56 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/30/2011

Fuel overflows each time the tank is filled.

57 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/30/2011

I recently purchased a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. Every time I fill gas, when the pump shuts off gasoline comes spraying out of the vehicle's tank and all over the ground. Approximately a cup or more comes out of the Jeep's tank. I think this is a potential fire hazard and should be addressed by the NHTSA as soon as possible before someone is hurt by this defect. A recall for the item should be mandated by the government and Jeep should be forced to fix this problem. I have researched this problem on the internet and it seems pretty widespread.

58 Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/29/2011

When filling the tank gas spills out when the handle stops flow at the full tank level. It doesn't matter if you fill the tank slowly or even decrease the gas flow to the point just before the handle shuts off. It still overflows. I have read in forums that this is a common problem with Jeep jk models, possibly a defect with the tank check valve or the overflow drain line. The TSB's I've read only indicate a free dealer warranty fix for the 07 and 08 models but reports continue the be noted for '09 and '10 models as well. This safety hazard must be addressed.

59 Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/29/2011

Fuel tank overflows (sprays out) while filling at gas station pump after pump automatically shuts off. Tried numerous gas stations, pumping gas slowly all with same effect.

60 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/28/2011

When filling the fuel tank with gas, the gas pump does not shut off when the tank is full. This causes overflow of gas from the tank. An internet search indicates that this is a common issue with Jeep Wranglers.

61 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/23/2011

When filling the gas tank, the gas pump auto shut off works, but only after spraying gasoline on me, the vehicle and the ground. This has happened 4 times in a row at different pumps of different gas stations.

62 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/20/2011

The automatic fuel shut-off does not work causing fuel tank to be overfilled. I have fuel spillage every time and it doesn't a matter how fast the fuel is pumped.

63 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/19/2011

Every time I get gas at the pump, at the end of filling the tank it gushes out a ton of gasoline all over the side of my Jeep, all over the pump/handle itself, creating a dangerous fire hazard. This happens every time. I've read online it's a known issue but hasn't yet had a recall or a fix? so am filing in hopes of a fix from the manufacturer. I've also read there is some kind of fix but it may be costly. But it's a safety issue and needs resolved.

64 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/17/2011

When filling the fuel tank, there is severe back splash when tank reaches full and nozzle automatically shuts off.

65 Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/17/2011

I just bought a 2008 used Jeep Wrangler unlimited x. The very first time I go tto fill the gas tank, the auto shut off fails and gas starts spraying everywhere. I was covered in it from the waste down and standing in a puddle of it.

66 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/17/2011

Fuel tank overflows each and every time the vehicle is filled with fuel. I had a 2004 Jeep Wrangler and never had this problem.

67 Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/16/2011

Fuel overflow issue. When filling up my gas tank at the pump fuel will spray from the gas tank before the fuel nozzle shuts off. This has occurred at multiple gas stations and multiple pumps and is now occurring every time I try to fill my tank.

68 Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/14/2011

Starting months ago whenver I fill my tank at the gas station, fuel overfills when full. It happens at every station now everytime. I can put the fill lever at a lower fill rate and it still happens. I have the fill nozzle in all the way or out half way or in between and it does not matter. It leaks out about 6 - 12 oz down the vehicle. The entire vehicle smells like gas everytime.

69 Tank Assembly problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/14/2011

On September 10, 2008 I purchased a new 2008 Jeep Wrangler from my local dealer. It has had modest use under normal driving conditions and has been properly maintained. It has approximately 18,500 miles on it. I have had no problems with the vehicle, except a month ago I started experiencing problems with the gas shooting out of the tank near the end of filling up. I could avoid the problem only if I shut off the gas as it neared the top (before the point when it is shut off by the nozzleâ??s own mechanism). However if I filled the tank on the Jeep as I do on our other car (and as I did on the Jeep prior to last month), the gas would shoot out of the tank, spilling on the side and on my fingers, and on one occasion, on my pant leg. I consider this problem of gas spilling outside the car a very dangerous condition which needs to be remedied. I had not received any recall or service action notices from the manufacturer about this problem. So I did an internet search and discovered that there had been a number of other people experiencing the same problem and that the manufacturer had issued a recall for 2007 and 2008 Wranglers manufactured between March 2007-March 2008. I checked my vehicle and determined it was manufactured in may 2008. However the problem was the identical problem complained about and which was the subject of the recall. I therefore contacted my dealer and was eventually advised that they would replace the fuel tank as an emission problem covered by a lifetime warranty. I would certainly think it advisable for the manufacturer be required to notify its owners of this problem and/or issue a recall of the affected vehicles. Please note that issues relating to vehicle defects and recalls is not part of my professional practice and I have no interest in this matter other than being a single Jeep owner.

70 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/11/2011

Fueling stopper assembly does not trigger gas station pump nozzle to stop dispensing fuel on time. The result is spilled fuel every time due to fuel over flow from fuel tank when ever a fuel fill up is attempted. This happens 100% of the time.
