2 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

Numerous events of sudden stalling of vehicle at high speed in drive, at low speed in drive and reverse; creating a very dangerous situation involving near-miss rear end collisions. Can take up to 15 minutes to restart engine. Engine sometimes appears to restart with a ticking sound, has no power and automatic transmission can't be shifted into drive or reverse. Other times, engine starts and transmission can be shifted into drive or reverse, but gears do not engage. Numerous events, as common as stalling events, involving sudden and sometimes violent shocks to the drivetrain, which happen at all speeds, usually when accelerating. Everyone knows this is a tipm issue, with serious safety implications related to the potential for high speed rear end collisions by following vehicles, that Chrysler and the NHTSA have not taken adequate action to remedy except on limited affected vehicle types. Substantial information exists on this known issue, including information and documentation submitted to Chrysler and NHTSA. This particular vehicle was purchased new, started to exhibit this series of problems at the beginning of 2018 after 60,000+ miles, and has been back and forth to the dealer multiple times. There are no recorded error codes according to the dealer. The fuel pump relay has been replaced by dealer, supposedly, which was the latest unsuccessful attempt at solving the problem? prior to that work was performed on the transmission, supposedly, which also did not solve the problem? prior to the current symptoms, two unexplained dead battery events occurred. Now, readily found information shows a link with tipm and fuel pump relay failures that allow the fuel pump to run and drain the battery after turning off the ignition. How many more reports to NHTSA will it take to responsibly address this very serious potential rear collision safety issue related to the tipm?.

6 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/28/2011

Transmission is a standard shift when I let out on clutch the engine will stall. At first I thought because I was not letting out on clutch properly and had to get used to driving it. My boy friend who drives a diesel truck with a standard everyday had the incident happen to him and suggested we take it in for service . Which they said they test drove and concluded no problems many times back to dealership with no luck now I'm out of warranty. The vehicle is very dangerous it stalls all the time when I sit and idle at a red light or a cross road at a stop sign when I let out on clutch it starts rolling fine when clutch is disengaged it will not take the gas then engine will sputter then die. Can someone from your agency test my Jeep please it is going to cause me to get into a wreck. I live in mobile alabama.

7 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/08/2011

2007 Jeep Wrangler with a manual 6-speed transmission. When starting from a stop 1st gear will disengage (pop-out) transmission when the clutch is released. Does not happen everytime but occasionally, with no warning, often leaving one in the middle of oncoming traffic unable to accelerate without having to re-engage 1st gear or going directly to 2nd gear.

8 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/18/2010

Manual transmission will disengage out of first gear when driving. This has happened numerous time, but the dealer cannot duplicate issues because it is an intermittent default. Most current incident was today after the Jeep had been at the dealer for 48 hours. Called Jeep customer complaint and was told unless the dealer can duplicate the problem there is not a valid warranty issue.

9 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/06/2010

A handful of instances over the past month, my 2009 Jeep Wrangler violently and unexpectedly pops out of first gear upon acceleration. This could result in a rear end collision, potential accident while crossing traffic lanes or upon acceleration onto a highway like the sawmill parkway where you enter the highway from a dead stop. In addition to the potential catastrophic results due to an accident, the shifter when it violently disengages can result in a damage to the drivers hand or fingers. My fingers to a significant hit the first time I experienced the problem. Through a search on the internet, I see that this has happened to other Wrangler owners.

10 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2003 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/02/2005

Vehicle: 2003 Jeep Wrangler sport since purchasing the vehicle in 2003, I have had problems with the transmission. Automatic transmission shifting from 2nd to 3rd, sometimes higher would cause vehicle to wind up and then harshly shift into gear. Other times, the transmission would not engage at all. Have taken vehicle to dealership several times for repair (under warranty), three times they couldn't find the problem in the computer. They replaced converter most recently. Today, was driving in vehicle and suddenly transmission problem reappeared 1000 times worse - wouldn't accelerate beyond 30 mph, then no higher than 20 mph, and then 10 mph until it wouldn't engage at all. Was stranded approximately 40 miles from home. Had vehicle towed to dealership and am waiting for them to look at after long holiday weekend. I am requesting they give me a replacement vehicle as I believe this has been a problem since its purchase and they haven't been doing their due diligence in resolving the issue.

11 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 1999 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/20/1999

The automatic transimission has been a problem since the car was bought brand new in November of 1999. First is the experience of, on occasion the car not starting while in park. The first time it happened I called Chrysler road side assistance, and they informed me just to put it in nuetral whenever that happened and it would start ok. I have had to do that very often. I assumed it was not a big deal. I have never been able to engage the lo 4 wheel drive mechanism, but have not had the need for it, hence never bothered to complain about it. This year the transmission has disengaged at various speeds between each gear. It is a consistent problem, and have taken car to mechanic, had lines checked, transmission fluid changes, etc. , but still hasn't resolved the problem. I am afraid that in a crisis situation, I will hit the gas, and the car will fail to accelerate, or will lunge as a result of the engine reving so hi before the transmission re-engages. This is a serious problem. The car has all highway miles and has never been in an accident. I am scared to drive this car because it might result in an injury.
