2 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/21/2016

I was in motion driving my Jeep rubicon off road in 4wd high and was heading down a steep slop and while shifting my 6 speed manual transmission from 3rd to 2nd the gear shift arm pulled of its mount. Due to the shift arm assembly coming off, I missed 2nd gear and ended up stuck in neutral. Before I realized exactly what happened I had traveled about 20 yards freewheeling. Due to the speed increase I had to apply my brakes which then caused the Jeep to slide sideways. I was able to gain control and ride the brakes down to the bottom of the slope where I investigated what happened and then had to make temporary repairs as I was stuck in a ravine with no easy way out. After a couple of hours attempting to get the shift assembly reinstalled I was able to drive out of the ravine and back to camp to improve the temp repair. I did not drive the Jeep again that weekend until I was ready to head home. I drove it the 280 miles home with the temporary repair in place.

7 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/01/2007

I could not shift the automatic transmission from "in gear" to park. The shifter would get stuck in reverse, resulting in me inadvertently moving backwards - a very dangerous condition. I also could not shift down from park into gear. I had to remove the panel and manually move the anchor from the in-gear position to park. I notified my dealer of the problem and they performed the following: "found shifter assemble internally damaged. Removed and replaced shifter assemble and checked operation. " the cost of the repair + labor was $483. 27. There is a recall/defect for the exact same problem in the 2005 Wrangler. I own a 2004 model. The recall number for the 2005 model is 05v460000.

8 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2003 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/14/2004

I have had the vehicle for 5 months. Appr 4 weeks ago my automatic shifter was stuck in park. After a total of 4 days at the dealership they replaced the entire shifter assembly. 2 weeks later the vehicle died on the side of the road stranding my family 130 miles from home. It was decided by the dealership that there was a blown fuse caused by an electrical short of some kind. After an entire week at the dealership they replaced the main computer and some misc. Wiring (all warranty work). The day after I got the vehicle back it died again, this time stranding my family 90 miles from home. The dealership says that there's still a short causing the fuse to blow. After another week at the dealership they replace a wiring harness that they say is bad. Again it is covered under warranty. The day that I drive home with the vehicle my brakes go out. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership for repairs to the braking system. While it was at the dealership for repairs the fuse blows again. This time they say that another wiring harness is bad and that this time they will not warranty it. I fail to see how they could perform warranty work to solve this problem twice and then decide that they will no longer warranty it.

10 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/30/1998

I was exiting the highway and starting to slow for the merge at the end of the ramp. I was in fifth gear and downshifting into fourth, when I found I could no longer shift. The shifter got stuck in neutral. Luckily there was little traffic and the light just after the merge was green or I would no have been able to pull over. I would have been stuck in the middle of the road and possibly would have caused an accident. It could have also happend on the highway with worse possibilities. The Jeep has been used only as a car. No off-roading or towing. The transmission was also maintained as per manufacturer recommendation. I have that documentation if needed.
