Hello. My name is kodaah hansen. I drive a 2015 kia Forte5. It's the sx model with right around 91000 miles right now; and as of recently it has fallen ill. I took it to the dealership after I noticed a slight knocking sound as well as some weird misfires I was feeling. After diagnosis they told me and I quote "internal damage to the cylinder head&possibly pistons from what the technician gathers so far. A tear down to visually inspect is the next step. For the diagnosis though the cost is $134. 98". Based on the information received from them I contacted the warrenty company, expecting them to cover the costs but for some reason was turned away. I am now coming aware that the issues listed above have been subject to many recalls for the exact same engine as mine, however I learned this information though a third party technician. Not once did the dealership mention it. I looked further and found several cases on many online kia forums of people claiming to have the same issues with the same engine. I am just looking to have some help getting this situation resolved as I've had many people tell me that I shouldn't be having these kinds of problems with a car this young. Not to mention that my car still falls under the power train warrenty as well as the extended warrenty. Below I have sent copies of all the diagnostic information I received. Please respond as soon as possible. I thank you for your time.

Since ive bought my car its had a ticking/knocking noise coming from the engine. Really loud in the morning and it used to go away after driving now its consistently making noise. Ive been to numerous mechanics and all say that its normal for these engines. The noise keeps getting louder and I only have 118,200 miles on this car. The car is in excellent shape and I baby it. Besides some minor scratches it looks and runs brand new besides the damn knocking sound.

Driving down an interstate around 75mph the engine started making an abnormal loud engine knocking noise so I pulled over to the median and the oil light came on, engine seized, and the car died and would not start. Car had oil. Towed 100+ miles to our local kia dealership and they said #2 rod bearing "severely worn and causing the engine to make noise and stop rotating". They recommended a complete engine replacement at a cost of around $5700 (cost and labor). 2012 kia Forte sx with 2. 4l engine and 106,xxx miles (6,000 outside their 10year/100,000 mile warranty). Car had regular oil changes at the proper times. This is the same type of problem (worn rod bearings) kia/Hyundai had with their other engines which required a recall to address the thousands of grievances. I would like these 2. 4l Forte engines to also be included in a future recall because I believe these engines are either defective in their manufacturing process or just faulty by design. Had I not pulled over when I did there is a possibility the engine would have seized while I was driving interstate speed with the typical interstate traffic (semi trucks all over) with my wife and two small children on board. Kia refuses to acknowledge a problem and so far have offered no satisfaction. A modern car should last more than 7 years, unless it was designed wrong or damaged in the manufacturing process.

The engine began, without warning, consuming the oil. The engine then began making a knocking noise that is now irreparable without replacement. This knocking noise, due to low oil, was not preceded by the "oil light," as I had recently received an oil change. The car now struggles to accelerate and I have to add oil every 2 weeks or so. This is a similar issue with other kia models, with the same engine, that will be involved in a class action lawsuit in January 2021.
My engine has begun making a loud knocking sound and two mechanics have said the engine has a serious problem and needs to be replaced. The knocking started with normal use and regular oil changes. Started while idling and got louder with faster rpm.
Engine is making a loud knocking noise, kia service refuses to be able to hear it as it is still under warranty. Recalls have been issued for the same issue in other kia models using the same engine. This is a common issue with these engines including the Forte, which was not part of the recall. Action is being taken in canada by the apa, but not in the us. . Read more...

I am submitting a complaint on the 2013 kia Forte ex engine failure for review. I have a copy of the carfax report given by the local kia dealership at the time of purchase which shows the vehicle was maintained regularly. At the time of purchase in August 2018, the dealership serviced the vehicle (oil change, etc. ). We had another oil change and overview of the vehicle since then. All was working fine until February 11,2019 when we heard a loud knocking noise when vehicle was in idle and increases when shifted into drive. On February 12, I took the car to our auto repair shop. They determined the internal engine near the rear is where the knocking noise was coming from. This would take a rebuild or replacement of the engine. I called a local kia dealership about this and they said there were no recalls and all work would be billable. I have not had a good experience with this dealership's service department in the past and was skeptical about taking this car there. This is why I did not take the car to the dealership. I have a trusted auto repair shop that gives me honest and timely advice and results. I have contacted Kia Motors America, inc already and am hoping that my communicating with Kia Motors America, inc. Directly will help to give me the support they advertise to customers on all of their vehicles. Kia claims to back up the quality of their vehicles. Hopefully kia will acknowledge the issue with this model's engine failure and provide financial assistance for the expense that we have incurred. I thank you for taking the time to review this information. 2013 kia Forte ex sedan 4dr 2. 0l i4 f dohc 16v gasoline front wheel drive.

My engine has begun making a loud knocking sound and two mechanics have said the engine has a serious problem and needs to be replaced. The knocking started with normal use and regular oil changes. Started while idling and got louder with faster rpm.
At 120,000 miles a loud knocking noise began coming from the engine at engine start. It persists and sounds almost like an electric sewing machine - taka taka taka taka. The sound gets louder when I accelerate and decreases when I don't press the gas pedal. The noise decreases slightly when the engine is fully warmed up but it is still audible. I took it to a mechanic who specializes in engines, his diagnosis was "rod bearings need replacement" I have started searching for this issue online and became aware of safety recall sc147. Unfortunately this recall doesn't include the kia Forte model. I saw in my research online that many other Forte owners were having similar issues. In addition, my car's engine "theta ii" 2. 0 liter appears to be the same engine that is included among the recalled models included in sc147. I am wondering why the kia Forte is not included as it seems to be suffering from the same issue. Is this a question of accountability, or lack thereof on kia/Hyundai's side.

While driving car started to make knocking noises coming from engine. Last week Thursday. ( may 31, 2018) mileage at 65k. Then suddenly engine off' on its own. Did not want to start. Starter and battery was fine based on towing company staff who helped with tow. Next day had a mechanic diagnose the problem engine, he indicated the engine has locked, oil level was good but was sludgy. Had an annual oil change mid Feb 2018. I normally drive to and from work it takes about 15mins. With traffic 20mins. I stay in guam, island is quite small 18 miles wide and 31 miles long. Called dealer asked about recall for this particular problem to be told no recalls have been filed by kia based on my vehicles VIN number. Searched the web found many complaints about this similar or same problem. A class action suit has been filed in quebec canada on this matter for kia Forte 2010 engine problems/locking. Hopefully I am not the only person suffering from this problem. Please help.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 kia Forte. The contact stated that there was a knocking sound coming from the area of the engine compartment, the motor failed several times which had caused the vehicle to come to a complete stop. The contact had to tow the vehicle several times and obtain a rental vehicle because of the intermittent failure. A dealer route 6 auto mall kia (1049 grand army of the republic hwy, swansea, MA 02777, 1(508) 646-9700) was contacted, diagnosed that the motor needed to be replace but there was no recall to provide a remedy which was unacceptable to the contact needed to replace the motor. The manufacturer had issued 19 TSB on the engine but the dealer made no mention of any TSB to determine a solution to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection, it was diagnosed that the motor needed to be replaced, there was a delay in receiving the part from the manufacturer however once received the independent mechanic was to repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.
Took my kia Forte in to the auto repair shop because the engine started making a knocking noise. I have the oil changed regularly just as it is supposed to be done, and just had it changed less than 2 weeks ago. The shop said the engine has major engine failure and that there was nothing I can do about it. They said I will have to replace the engine. I called the kia dealership to find out about the recalls on Kia Motors and they said that my engine is not on the recall list but that there are many of the same motors that are failing and I would have to call kia consumer affairs to find out if maybe they will add my engine. I see nothing but where other kia owners are having the same issue with both the 2l & 2. 4l engine and kia is being nasty about replacing them. I am very upset as my car is not part of their recall and know that it should be.
Engine makes very loud knocking sound during first startup. Lots of other Fortes during same problem please investigate.
The contact owns a 2014 kia Forte. While driving 30 mph, an abnormal knocking sound was heard coming from the engine compartment. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (shawnee mission kia used cars, 7810 shawnee mission parkway, overland park, KS 66202) where it was diagnosed that the motor failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.
. I was driving on the freeway on my way to work going about 65 mph when I started a hearing a knocking sounds. At first it wasnt that loud I only had a few miles to get to work so I thought I could make it but then the sound got really loud. I pulled of the freeway and parked it at a friends house and he took me to work. So I go back the next day to try to figure out what was wrong with it I checked the oil to see if it was low it was ok. I had just done a oil change about 2 weeks before I tried to turn it on but the car wouldn't crank at all. I had it towed to a shop and the mechanic looked at it and told me that I would a new engine. This is a 2012 kia Forte with around 80xxx miles on it and now it needs a new engine. I have a 2001 Ford focus with 190*** miles on it and the only thing I've had to fix on it was the clutch the went out 2 years ago. I'm still paying this car off and I can't even drive it. I'm looking around online and this seems to be a common problem, people just driving and then they hear a knocking sound and then the engine goes out. I took really good care of this car I went above and beyond to make sure that this car would last long yet it didn't matter. Even finding a good engine is hard to do so and expensive when I thought I had one the seller took it apart to see if the engine is worthy of selling it with his warranty promise. He gave me back my money because the engine I bought from him was no good and he didn't want to sell me a a possible faulty engine.
Started with a knocking sound in the engine. Engine light came up and car started to lose speed. The engine seized and my mechanic told me that the car needed a new engine as it was not repairable. The Forte is not on the list of recalls but it has the same engine issues as the ones listed under the recall. I am still paying for this car that is 5 years old!!.
While driving my car from a football game, it completely stopped running. I had the car towed home the next day. Once home the car started back up as if nothing happened. About a week later the engine started having a terrible knocking noise. A mechanic replaced rod & bearing, but the car still has issues with stalling and knocking noise. It has been parked for almost 2 years while I continue to make car payments. My oil and other fluids were always changed regularly. I was outside my warrenty and am just stuck with this car with a bad engine. I would replace the engine, but am afraid that it is a defect in manufacturing.
When driving 55 - 80 miles per hour, especially right at 70, the car shakes, and the engine knocks. It feels like a vibration, and the wheel shakes under your hands with a rhythmic knocking noise from the engine. The car also has issues with the front right brake when it is chilly or wet. The brake sticks and will not come up, grinding and causing the car to become difficult to drive. The pedal sinks in and will not come back up. I have taken the car to the dealer and been told nothing is wrong with the car. Both issues are still going on, and worsening as I drive it. Pretty sure being pushed past my warranty. Taking to another dealer for second opinion, worried in mean time the car is not safe to drive based on other similar reports. I bought my car from dealership, and was able to verify it had one owner. At time of purchase the car drove fine, but within days both issues had begun. I took it to a different dealer for service.
I purchased the car December 2012; 2013 kia Forte ex. About a 9 months after I purchased the car, I was driving and there was a loud knocking nose in the engine and about a hour later the car stalled on me in downtown sacramento, CA. I got the car towed to sacramento kia (2820 fulton Ave, sacramento, CA 95821). After the car was diagnosed they told me that it was a manufacturing problem, they said when the car was built a few parts in the engine were put in incorrectly which caused my engine to basically over heat and start to fall apart. So they said that they will replace the engine free of charge. August 17 2014 awhile after the new engine was put in my car, the car stalled on me again with the same knocking noise coming from the engine. At the time I was on the freeway going about 60mph. After the car stalled on me I could not go above 30mph no matter how hard I pushed the gas pedal. I had to drive all the way home on the freeway with the hazard lights on going 30mph. When I got home I had the car towed to sacramento kia (2820 fulton Ave, sacramento, CA 95821). It took them a few days to a week for them to call me and let me know the car was there. I called twice everyday and never received a call back when they said they were busy. I did not receive a phone call until they called me the third week and said they are ordering parts for the car. I did not authorize anyone to order parts for the car because I did not find out what was wrong with the car. Two days ago September 2 2014 was the date I found out that I needed a whole new engine when the engine was replaced a year ago. So this would be the third engine for my brand new 2013 kia Forte ex I purchased a year ago.
