1 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2015 Kia Motor Optima

Failure Date: 10/16/2020

About a month ago my traction control light came on and I would lose power steering. For a brief period of time maybe a day or two the light went out and I regained steering. Since then it has come back on again and I have had no power steering since this period I know there is an active recall on certain aspects of this and believe this is part of it, however I am told that my problem is not part of the recall and that I need to pay to have the safety issue fixed on my own.

2 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2015 Kia Motor Optima

Failure Date: 10/16/2020

About a month and a half ago my traction control light came on and I lost power steering. For a brief period of time that day the light went off and I regained power steering. Later that same day the traction control light reappeared and has been on since causing me to lose power steering. I have spoken with the manufacturer and they claim that this problem does not fall under any recall therefore they are not responsible for anything.

3 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Optima

Failure Date: 04/08/2020

Driving down in motion on a village road going 40 mph, car completely shut off, lost power steering, I had to pull car over without power steering to side of busy road, car would not stop right away and park would not engaged right away into park, car then rolled forward about 10 feet and slammed into park. Car would not turn over however all power lights, and battery were working without issue. Called a tow truck, could not get ahold of kia for kia 24 hour emergency roadside assistance, due to covid-19, I had to call a local body shop/used car dealer for a tow.

4 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Optima

Failure Date: 08/18/2019

The battery indicator light came on then while driving down the road, the battery discharge kept popping up on the display then went out. About 10 minutes further, I lost power steering. I managed to get to base even though I ran a red light and stop sign because the car started spurttering and feeling like it was getting ready to stall. Once I managed to get to a parking lot, my headlights went out but I still had dash lights. All the error lights came across my dashboard. I took the battery to advance, they said it was low. They charged it and said it needed replaced. The battery indicator was still lit so I took it and they checked the alternator and said it was dead. I took it and had it rebuilt. Everything seemed to work ok.

5 Lose Power Steering problem of the 2006 Kia Motor Optima

Failure Date: 07/03/2012

2006 kia Optima needed a new timing belt within the next few thousand + miles (needs to be changed every 60,000 miles or sooner), but one the crankshaft pulley just came off and then the belt came off a couple pulleys because of this. The belt actually looks fine, but the pulley failure caused the belt to come off. This belt runs several things so the initial loose pulley caused the car to lose power steering, battery light to turn on, the a/c failed, etc. , and then the inner part of the pulley came off and the outer ring (magnetized) fell and stuck to part of the car frame that is actually metal. My wife made it to work while the belt had to still be on but loose, and it now sits in her parking spot at her job (hospital parking ramp). I will probably have it towed tomorrow. This could have easily led to an extremely dangerous situation if it happened on the highway. I found the outer part of the lower pulley laying above the car frame close to the engine. If the car drove after this, engine damage would be most likely. I will hopefully have it towed to the nearest kia dealership by tomorrow to see if I just need the pulley and belt or if the engine is damaged. This is unbelievable, because I found many people that had the same issue with the crankshaft pulley bolt breaking off and sometimes causing engine damage immediately afterward. As a consumer, I shouldn't have to go under the vehicle and tighten a factory tightened bolt every now and then. I hope that the newer bolts actually hold like a grade 8 american bolt, because that wouldn't fail. Rubber can't break steel, and I can't believe this obvious oversight by kia hasn't been recalled or in a technical service bulletin!!!!.
