The steering wheel makes a wear noise, like parts are getting loose when I move the steering wheel the lightest. It sounds dangerous and not safe at all. It also sounds when driving no matter the surface.

I have never had any issues with my car, I get maintenance as scheduled so it's odd that this is even happening. On December 6th I went to move my car. I crank the car with no problem. I noticed it kind of hesistated slightly, but continued on with no problem. When I went to put my car in reverse in order to park it stalled and about 5 or 6 of the lights on the dash came on, the steering wheel went hard to manage/steer and as 6 other lights started blinking, I could no longer manipulate my wheel so I allowed the car to roll into the spot because I was on a slight incline and put it in park. The moment I did that the car cut off. It would not turn over, it would not do anything besides click when I tried to crank the car again. I eventually asked someone for a jump and managed to make it home. The next day I got up and drove as I normally would and thats when the eletric power steering warning light came on. When that light comes on the car becomes hard to maneuver. Thankfully that time it went off and proceeded to drive as it would normally. This issue happens unexpectedly without any warning. So at any moment I could be driving and the car can stop on me. I have 4 kids and live in a really busy area so even the thought of this happening has me second thinking each time I have to move my car!! I've seen more than one of the same complaint and I notice our VIN #'s are similar so something should really be done about this as it seems this is a trend with the year, make, and model of this car.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 kia Optima. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph , the steering wheel became loose with the traction control and power steering warning light illuminating. The contact also mentioned that when turning left or right a clicking noise was detected. The contact then mentioned that while the steering wheel was straight it was only letting the contact turn about 1 inch to the left or right. The steering wheel eventually locked up. The vehicle was taken to south shore kia 1128 sunrise hwy, copiague, NY 11726 (631) 991-3910 where the contact was informed that the vehicle computer needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,843. Dr.

When turning the steering wheel just slightly and going either way it makes this small slipping or clunking noise and I am concerned about safety of the steering. Happens in motion when turning even slightly and either direction and when it is stationary. City street, highway, freeway, backing up, going forward and turning. And it has happened now for approximately 2 - 3 months. I am told by internet that it may be flex coupling in steering. I am not mechanic. Still happening. On-going.

I've been driving my car for some time now when it reach 60,000 + miles, I notice the car steering would stick when slightly turn or a full turn. It also drifts and there is a clicking noise when the steering wheel is turning left and right . I had front end line meant done. That did not stop the noise or sticking steering column. This happens while driving or sitting.
Is anyone going to do anything about the overly sensitive electronic steering on the 2013 kia Optimas that cause the car to zig zag within the lane of travel??? this type of complaint is prominent all over the internet on many different sites. There is, quite simply, a major safety issue with the steering on these cars, and complaints to kia or the nhtsb seem to fall on deaf ears. Will it take a fatality due to these issues for someone to take notice of the major hazard these particular cars present to drivers?!? the electronic steering is extremely overly sensitive. . . So bad that one can barely look down to turn the defrost on or look into the rear view mirror or side view mirrors without the potential for the car to drift in another lane in the same direction of travel, or even in an oncoming lane of travel!! you literally cannot move your hand at all one way or another without the steering reacting. A 1/4 movement to the left or right??? you'll feel the car shift in the direction turned, so that leaves the driver having to continually keep his hand turning the steering wheel slightly to the left or right just to keep it in the lane of travel, thus causing the car to zig zag down the lane of travel, giving the appearance of an impaired driver. At highway speeds or even speeds 45mph or higher it is impossible to keep the car going in a straight line without having to continually correct it one way or another. About a month ago I looked down to turn the defrost on and when I looked back up the car was halfway in the oncoming lane of travel for god's sake! someone is going to be killed because of this issue, whether it be a side swip on the highway or a head on collision, something will eventually happen, and when someone finally dies maybe then kia or the nhtsb will finally look into the issue.
My 2009 kia Optima was parked. When I put the key in, it would not turn the car on. The steering wheel would move slightly. The ignition switch and tumblers were not reading that the car was in park. I had the ignition switch replaced. I contacted kia but they would not cover repairs because the car was 2 weeks out of warranty.

New vehicle. The vehicle will not track in a straight line. The vehicle wanders (drifts) left or right. I constantly have to nudge the steering wheel slightly left or slightly right to keep the vehicle somewhere in the middle of the lane. This is a dangerous condition. I no longer take a mug of coffee with me as I drive to work. I have to keep my eyes directly on the road ahead, only glancing briefly in the rear view mirror or side mirrors to check traffic. It also does this at low speeds on residential streets. Help! I am taking it back to the dealer a second time on 11/16. However, I have noticed many complaints on the web for the same vehicle, model and problem. It would seem there is no fix! has the NHTSA contacted kia about this problem?.
