My vehicle steering makes a loud noise when turning it. It happens when driving and while car is in park. I was told this happens with kia's(steering coupling) and should be a recall. I need to know if established as a recall so I can take to a dealer for repair because I do not want to continue driving like this.

The gearbox yoke plug detaches whenever you drive and hit a bump or pothole causing the steering wheel to make a noise. The noise worsens as you drive no matter if you're turning a corner but especially when driving over any type of rough or bumpy road condition. You can hear the noise in the steering even when you're stationary and are turning the wheel. There apparently is a recall on this same component for earlier kia Optima's years and beyond, but not on the 2013.
There is a loud clanking noise when steering or hitting bumps. This happens over time and has significantly gotten worse. It seems to be unsafe now and my vehicle is even below 100k miles so this should not be an issue at all.
My 2014 kia Optima started making a clicking/rattling noise in the steering column when driving. The noise is worse when you hit a small dip in the road. The steering feels catchy and unsafe. Over the past the past 2 years my alignment has been off causing abnormal wear and replacement of my tires. I will be taking it to the kia dealership today and hopefully they can fix this problem.

There is a clicking noise first heard in the steering wheel to where the steering box flexible coupler is braking apart inside the steering box. If this was not fixed it could be a total failure to where you could lose your steering all together. Kia is aware of this and is fixing it for free. Why isnt this listed on you site as a recall as someone's life could be in jeopardy over this issue.
Their are numerous complaints I have read on this site about knocking and banging noises in the steering column. I now have this in my kia Optima 2011 with 48k miles. Why is their no recall? it seem to me its a big safety issue so off the the dealer I go to empty out my wallet.
There is a knocking noise coming from my steering wheel for about 7 months.
I have just recently started having a problem when I hit bumps in the road or a rough road. The steering wheel makes a noise and I can feel a shaking sort of. I clicked on suspension because of how rough it feels riding right now and I dont know if im just feeling the steering or if its affecting the whole ride. It has been very comfortbale since bought new in 2012.
Loud clicking noise when turning the steering wheel both ways making steering and driving very unstable.
My car recently started making an odd clicking noise in the steering. It gets increasingly louder and vibrates to the point that you can hear anything over the noise. I was told it might be an alignment issue but the mechanics insist it definitely is not alignment related.
Loud clunk noise when turning steering wheel left or right.
Takata recall there is a plastic part in the steering assist that is bad. Its all over youtube including mine. When the car is in motion you can hear the metal to metal clinking noise in the steering column. When you hit a bump it wants to jerk the steering wheel out of you hands. You can move the wheel from side to side and hear when in statioary as well.
I took car in for the clicking noise in steering wheel. While car was up inair on stands. The rep stated their was a small leak coming from the turbo oil feed line. However it was not cover under warranty because its not the turbo. I told the it is if its feeding the oil. I did some research on the problem and found that it is a common issue with all of their cars and they are refusing to fix the issue. I told the rep that if the oil causes a burning smell it can cause a fire. I was told the manager would call me but now they are not taking my calls about replacing the line to the turbo.
Our 2011 kia Optima steering wheel started malfunctioning at about 78000 miles. Moves freely when it shouldn't, slightest bump and steering wheel jumps up an down and makes a loud clicking noise and effects safe steering. Can't find a recall, though I find this problem in numerous web searches. They gonna wait til people are killed or injured ( if not already) until they take repair action? ! I understand it's a $4 part with average around $600. 00 labor to repair. Who has that kind of money to fix their manufacturing problem? help please this noticed under normal conditions driving to work on normal main street.
When u driving it . U can here noise in the steering wheel. It had the oil light to pop on while driving on thr freeway put over. Put some oil in it. Then that night trying to crank it & it started to smoke & caught a fire.
Loud clicking noise in steering while driving, hard to turn at times and very loud rattling while driving on rough roads. My daughter uses this car due to better gas milage than hers to go to college sometimes and I also carry my 2 year old granddaughter in this car and have had no problems before now and thought I purchased a safe car all around but being that nothing is getting done about this possible safety issue I am concerned. I would have recommended a kia to anyone till now and now just not sure.
I purchased this car for my fiance in April 2016. In July 2016 we noticed a clicking noise in the steering wheel. This noise is unbearable. Theread is a lot of loose play in the stearing wheel and the car swerves from side to side as if you need an alignment. I took it to different mechanics but they really didn't know what it was. Kia said it wasn't a problem. Yea it gots to be a problem if it's making a loud noise like that. This is a problem and I hope it doesn't cause anyone to get killed. They vehicle makes the noise when turning and it's so bad now it does it when you hit bumps in the road.
While driving on the highway we started hearing a popping noise coming from the steering wheel and there also has bee some slack in the steering wheel.
Play in steering column making a noise when turn steering wheel right and left defective flex coupler.
Hearing a knocking noise in the steering wheel while sitting still or moving when the steering wheel is moved from side to side, alot of freeplay in the steering wheel. When you hit a bump there is a loud clanking noise from the steering column and the noise is progressing. This has been on going but it is now getting worse. I've always taken my car to kia for my oil changes and have inquired about the noise and they have assured me there was nothing worng, when I took it to get my oil change on Saturday 4/2 they said the warranty expired at 100,000 miles and I told them I mentioned it to them when my car had less then 100,000 and he then said it doesn't cover the steering wheel.
Hearing a knocking noise in the steering wheel while sitting still or moving when the steering wheel is moved from side to side, alot of freeplay in the steering wheel. When you hit a bump there is a loud clanking noise from the steering column. I was told by my friend who has a 2012 Optima that he has the same problem and he was told by the dealership that it was a plastic gear in the steering column and would cost roughly $300 to fix. Upon research with this issue I have come across several owners that seem to have the same problem which kia knows about. I feel that kia should correct this problem at their expense before this issue kills someone.
The contact owns a 2011 kia Optima. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel moved independently. The contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.
Unsafe loose steering. I first noticed this issue while driving on i75 shortly after purchasing my car in June of 2012. The car pulls to the left, when corrected, it then pulls to the right or viceversa. It's almost impossible to keep this car in a straight line. I reported this issue to my local kia dealer about 4 times (during ever service visit) their response is always the same: "the car is performing according to manufacturer's specifications, we couldn't find anything wrong with it" I disagree but couldn't do anything about it. Today, 3 years later, it's worse, I hear a loud clicking noise coming from the steering column when I turn the wheel. This situation has escalated to severe. I fear for my life when driving this car. Please help!.
Car started having a clicking noise when turning steering wheel to both right and left. Car has been pulling to the right on the highway, will even pull to the right at low speed rate. Car was bought brand new, should not be having steering issues.
Noticed in October 2014 the car started drifting and the steering wheel began to lock up. It has become progressively worse and now I'm hearing a knocking noise in the steering wheel. I was told by my coworker who has a 2011 Optima that he has the same problem and he was told by the dealership that it was a plastic gear in the steering column and would cost roughly $300 to fix. Upon research with this issue I have come across several owners that seem to have the same problem which kia knows about. I feel that kia should correct this problem at their expense before this issue kills someone.
The steering wheel makes clunking noise that you feel in steering wheel, left to right play. The vehicle's steering column also rattles loudly over bumps in the road. It is worse in reverse.
