Twice, the vehicle has stalled and come to a complete, unexpected stop with no warning: in October 2019 and January 2020. In both cases, the vehicle was traveling at a speed of approx. 30-40 mph. The check engine light did not illuminate, nor did any other light. We pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. Very dangerous, but fortunately we were able to pull over safely,.

Check bgd warning light came on screen while travelling at 40-45 mph on a straight stretch of city road. Car immediately slowed down. Lost power brakes and power steering. Other dashboard lites came on - -check engine light, etc. I brought vehicle to stop and placed transmission into park,. Vehicle did not restart and the transmission was locked. . Dealer retained vehicle for 28-30 days and was not able to repair it. Dealer subsequently repurchased the vehicle from me.
Had purchased a 2012 kia Sedona. Work out fine for the first few yrs of ownership. Started noticing white smoke at engine start. Didnt know why it was doing it cause we had routine oil changes done to this car regularly. . Took car to dealer to have it checked out and was told there was a recall on an emissions part and that would take care off the issue. Same issue continued, finally van came to a dead stop without any warning. No check engine light, oil light or any light to give us a warning that something was going on. Was lucky that my wife wasnt in a serious accident when this happened. She was driving hm and on the freeway when the engine decided to quit working. Had it towed to dealer and after 2 months at the dealer and that was only after I called to check why it was taking so long to give me an answer,. . . . Was told I would have to replace the engine at a cost off $7500 to $9500 for a new engine. No luck having dealer cover the cost cuase they said it was owner neglect on my part. Now im stuck with a car that is not drivable and useless. Oh, and worst part is that I was still making a monthly payments on the car.
I was leaving my house and had just driven a short distance when the check engine light and the esc off came on as the car slowed to almost a stop. I pressed on the accelerator and nothing happened. I got out of the car and raised the hood and the engine was idling roughly. I turned the car off and on several times but nothing chaged; it wouldn't accelerate and the warning lights stayed on. The esc off light eventually went out and the check engine light stayed on but I was able to drive it again. I took it to a mechanic who lubricated a throttle cable after checking the codes. It worked for a few weeks after that but the esc off light came on again intermittently after that. I am afraid of losing power when I am in heavy traffic, at an intersection, merging, or anywhere I will be in danger if I cannot move out of the way of oncoming traffic.

I have read several complaints about this same thing I have experienced now on three separate occasions. I too have suddenly lost power and the esc light and check engine light comes on. The gas pedal is virtually dead, you push the pedal to the floor and all you get is about 1500 rpm and about 20 mph. If you pull over and turn the car off and re-start it, it will work. Very dangerous to be going down the road and suddenly lose power.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 kia Sedona. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph the vehicle would not accelerate. The failure occurred intermittently at different speeds and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. While turning onto another street the van stalled. I put on my flashers and stopped, put the van in park and started it again. It started right up and the check engine light was on. It didn't have any power when I hit the gas, so I turned it off and started it again and it ran normal, except for the check engine light being on. On the way home it almost stalled again. This happened on a Saturday. We called the dealer right away and they said to bring it in on Monday. A week or so before the van did this I noticed the rpm's going up an down when I would be at a stop just idling. The dealer checked the codes for the throttle body and found an update so they reprogrammed it according to their paperwork. On Friday I was driving down the street going about 25 mph and when I got to the traffic light I lost power. I thought it had stalled again, but it didn't. When I pressed the gas it did not accelerate , and would not go over 10 mph. I got it off the street and shut it off and then restarted it. It would not respond when I stepped on the gas. I turned it off again and let it sit for a couple minutes and then when I re-started it, it responded when I accelerated. Once again the check engine light was on. I immediately contacted the dealer and drove it right to them. According to their paperwork they checked and found an internal fault with the throttle body actuator. They replaced the throttle body assembly and kept it a few days to see if it would lose power again. According to them it did not and I picked it up. This is the first day I have had it back and so far it has run fine. I am driving children around in this van all the time and now I need to be concerned that it is going to stall or go into "limp mode" as the dealer called it when I pull out onto the busy roads where I live. I hope they fixed it.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the stalled and the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact pulled the vehicle over and restarted it and the vehicle functioned properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that a code read p2106 limited home mode p0638 throttle actuator. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and they stated that they would contact the dealer ship for further information. The failure mileage was 11,100. Ap.
Traveling at 70 mph, cruise control on, the car decelerated rapidly and lost ability to accelerate. Check engine light illuminated. Was able to pull off to shoulder. Car was shut off and restarted, accelerator started to work but check engine light remained on. After driving another 50 miles the same thing happened. This is not the first time it has occurred, on this occasion we were able to safely pull over. On one occasion we were in kansas city rush hour traffic in the center lane, cars behind us came to a screeching stop to avoid hitting us. Very scary situation! after the car is shut off and sits for a few hours the check engine light turns off when started. With no check engine light there is no error code to diagnose the problem. This is a problem that needs to be addressed by kia. I have read articles that state this was a problem on previous model years and they were recalled.

The electronic stability control warning light was illuminated and the vehicle was shut off. Once restarted, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The failure recurred five times and the vehicle was taken to the dealer but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. Our Sedona van intermittently looses all power. When this happens the rpm's drop to 1000rpm and nothing happens when you push down the accelerator pedal. This happened 3 times today. The first was upon initial start up. The check engine light and esc off light came on. We turned off the car and when we restarted the check engine light stayed on, but the car had power. We drove it the dealership and they said there were 3 codes all indicating low engine voltage. They cleared the codes and said they found nothing wrong and it should not happen again. Latter in the day it happened two more times. Both time while it was being driven. Once one the highway at 65 mph and once in town at about 40mph. Each time we coasted to a stop an turned the car off and back on to get it working again. I will be taking it back to the dealer tomorrow.
I have a 2007 kia Sedona with 6,000 miles on it. I was driving it and all of a sudden the check engine light started flashing and the vehicle had severe misfires. I took it to the dealer the next day and it cleared up on the way but check engine light remained on. They told me it was good and there was a technical service bulletin out for the check engine light. Well later that day check engine light came back on.
The contact owns a 2007 kia Sedona. While driving at any speed, the vehicle hesitates as if it will stall. The check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they performed a diagnostic, which produced misfire code numbers p0305 and p0300. The vehicle was been to the dealer approximately 4 times with no resolution. In addition, both sliding power doors were unlocking and sliding intermittently on their own. The current mileage was 22,560 and failure mileage was 19,582.

Check engine light on. Engine was knocking. Called the dealer 3 times and each time they tried to tell me it was my gas cap not locked on properly. When I finally brought it in they had to do an entire tune up because a plug was misfiring.
Our kia Sedona's engine has been dying when coming to a stop for about 6 months. Kia tried on 8-5-04 to fix and was told it needed new spark plugs. Replaced the plugs. Three weeks later on 9-11-04 van engine dyed again when coming to a stop. Keeped a log of this. On 9-25-04 while driving 70 mph on the interstate, the engine again dyed while in the passing lane. Finally got a check engine light. Had to wait three days to get van into kia, light went out by then. Kia dealership said it has a transmission error code but can't pinpoint the defect to fix. Kia kept the van a week trying to get engine light to reappear in vain. So I now have a van that could stopped running at anytime and place. Not very reassuring or safe. We are very upset and kia corp refuses to do anything to remedy the situation.
Check engine light keeps coming on, every 2000 miles. It is always the same thing, a rich fuel mixture. This problem affects the acceleration of the vehicle. When the driver steps on the gas, the car either bucks and won't go, or just bogs down and won't accelerate. This is dangerous when trying to merge in traffic on busy, congested highways. Everytime this happens, we take it to the dealer and they keep it several days to a week before they can figure out what is wrong. This is the 3rd time since April 2003 for the same issue.
Consumer had problems with two leased kia Sedona and with the dealership. The consumer heard an awful rattle not long after having an oil change. It was discovered that there was no oil in the reservoir and oil was all over the vehicle. The consumer was able to get to a repair shop and the mechanic informed him there was no oil and the filter was not properly installed. The vehicle began to shimmy and shake. The dealer stated the problem was a defective cable, however the shimmy and shake returned. The check engine light illuminated. The consumer stated the second Sedona blew a fuse within the first month. Then, two months later the vehicle would not start. The dealer replaced the battery and this vehicle also rattled.
